Have been here twice for the Sunday brunch buffet and we love their food and service.The second visit was on Father’s Day. Arrived around 10:00 and waited for 30mins. They have a real-time system for you to track the waitlist and know how many sets of people are ahead of you.

This is like hands down best mexican restaurant ive been to. We were seated very quickly, and the interior is like the prettiest thing ive ever seen. Like i felt like i was in disneyland it was so pretty. They brought us chips dips and water very quick and it was yummy. The actual meals were phenomenal but we ate so many chips we couldnt finish! One of the workers came around witha guitar and asked for song requests which was cool af.

Love the atmosphere and vibe of the place! They have mariachi bands and people playing guitar sometimes, really adds to the experience! The food was also very delicious. I got a 2 chicken taco combo and the refried beans are soo good compared to other places Ive been. Definitely recommend!

Estela was our waitress and she was amazing! We enjoyed our meal in their patio seating area. The food was delicious and since I was hungry, I ate before taking the picture. I had the burrito a la diablo and my nephew had a carne asada burrito.

I’m so disappointed, we usually come here to dine in, always had great food, great service, just always pleased. However- we ordered Uber eats as we just didn’t have the time to spare on sitting down and holy cow, do i regret it. I ordered chile verde tacos, gringo style and they LOADED my tacos with onions, so much so- i couldn’t even eat it. The gringo taco has no onions or pico so i have NO idea why there was one onion, let alone a plethora of them. My husband (who loves onions) wasn’t even able to eat it either, inedible covered in onions, we couldn’t even pick them off. Also- they had taken a large portion of the tortilla pot, upon closer inspection- i found out why. There’s mold :( like come on, mold is still an airborne spore that isn’t eliminated by trimming the molded part. They also don’t give you salsa, nor do they have an option to add salsa, so the food was very dry as well. I’m super bummed out that i don’t get to eat tonight, I’ve never experienced such a bad order from them before. Y’all- please extend the same stellar food to delivery as you do in store- you guys robbed me of dinner tonight :/ this was one of the biggest delivery regrets I’ve ever had.

We went on Saturday and it was super busy. We got a table right away. Cruz was our server. Fast, friendly, and funny. Forrest ordered a burrito that was delicious but very spicy. He loved it. Love their bean dip.

We absolutely love this place! We have a large family and everyone loves it. The food is delicious. I usually get the fish/shrimp tacos. Others often get burritos and combo plates. My daughter has food allergies and they are always happy to accommodate our requests. The blended margaritas are so good too!! Try the blueberry. Or do a mix - like blueberry mango. I totally recommend them! But you might want to make reservations

Beautiful Mexican restaurant. I loved the selection of salsas at the salsa bar. However, the chile relleno was overbreaded and under cheesed. The refried beans were thin. Not a lot of cheese in my cheese enchilada either. The corn cake was a nice yummy addition to the meal. Everything tasted good. The staff were very attentive and fun.

Soooo good!!! Only a 10-minute wait on Sunday at 6:00 pm, but I recommend getting there by 5:30, right after we got sat it was packed! Food was excellent, busy - but staff let up! I got refried when I asked for pinto beans, so specify “exactly “ what you’re ordering. Chips are 💯, and a decent basket to share. Salsa is great too! Beans on side were an extra bonus. Can’t wait to go back!

I can not stop recommending this place to people. We had family come in town from LA and they absolutely loved it. The food was amazing. Our server was extremely nice and friendly. We did have a little issue with one of our plates but the manager came in right away and fixed it. He seemed mean but that man means business to make sure everyone is happy. We had reservations they did call to make sure we are coming and they sat us down right away. I got the shrimp ceviche was excellent. I must warn if you come during brunch hours the place is super loud. But 10/10 recommend eating here.

The place has a good atmosphere. The service is great and the food is good. You can make reservations. If youre vegetarian/vegan (which Im) they have a small vegetarian section in the menu. (Also gluten free options) We ordered vegetable fajitas and spinach enchiladas. (You can ask for no cheese/cream cheese if youre vegan) I must say, they were pretty good. Its a very busy restaurant so you will wait quite a while for your food. They serve unlimited chips with beans and salsa. Dont eat too much, youll be full by the time your food comes. Overall, great place!

We came as a group of friends and perfect dining spot for large groups.Service was ok. The food was great, but we did have a few hiccups on one or two items, especially tostada salad.Drinks were awesome. We had pinacolada and long island.I ordered shrimp enchiladas and was tasty and huge portion size. We got to try few items as a group.

We had El Tapatio catering at a recent event and loved it so much we had to come check out the restaurant. We ordered the carne asada fries and chile colorado. Our server was mehh… not very attentive or friendly.The carne asada fries were oddly super sweet. They clearly had used the oil for something sweet and it made the fries taste like churros. Not appetizing when they are covered in steak, cheese, and guac. We asked for extra jalapeños but there were none at all.The chile colorado was not that great. I kept eating it and then, unfortunately, there was a large piece of plastic that i was chewing on with my beef. Gross.I told the server when he dropped off out check and while he offered me a margarita on the house we were literally getting ready to walk out the door. He didn’t offer to take anything off our check which is whatever, but he really didn’t seem to care at all.Bummed. We were so excited to check this place out hoping it would be a new favorite but we won’t be back.

We came with a large group and the service was still outstanding. Our drinks were refilled often, chips & salsa were refilled as needed and the food was great! We had several visitors on out group who were highly complimentary on the quality of their food. Definitely coming back.

Been to this place twice. I like the vibe. Had enchiladas the first time, and they were good. The first visit was during spring so I had a nice mango margarita. I remember it was quite yummy that I almost ordered a 2nd one.Had the 3 fish/shrimp tacos this time. I wanted 2 fish and 1 shrimp for my tacos; our waiter was able to make that happen. Although the fish taco tasted fine, it smelled a little fishy - not a good sign for freshness. Think Id prefer the shrimp taco. With rice, beans and complimentary chips & salsa, this was a huge meal. The chips were a bit stale and had many small pieces, but we didnt bother asking for a new batch since we could barely finish our food.I would give the place 3.5 stars, but gotta give them kudos for opening on Christmas Day so upgraded to 4 stars! This place is more about quantity than quality and it does hit the spot.

Where have we been the last 5 years?!? How did we not know about this place? Found it on Yelp today. The food was delicious! The service was fast and friendly. The restaurant was vibrant. The food was great, and the atmosphere was awesome. We miss El Torito, and this place used to be one. They even do the Sunday Brunch Buffet, which we will try for sure in the future. The server made sure to check on us often even though we were the only ones sitting outside. It could have been easy to forget about us. Will definitely drive the 15 to 20 minutes to eat there again.

My daughter and I had dinner here and the food was very good. My daughter cannot eat dairy, and her food was prepared perfectly without the cheese. Our server, Janette, was amazing. We did not have to wait at all, to be seated or to order, in spite of the large crowds already there. Our food came quickly and was very hot. The atmosphere here is colorful and typical of a Mexican restaurant. It is tasteful and pleasing and the seating is comfortable. This is definitely one of our favorite Mexican restaurants in the greater Sacramento area.

All in all, a pretty good experience though it can get expensive very quickly, I can say that you should go here at least once.Our food was cooked very well, the steak in my dates food and mine was some of the best cooked steak I have ever had in my life. So juicy and tender, cooked almost perfectly.The plate sizes are also pretty large and you get chips, bean dip, and salsa for the table. You can get cheese and avocado dip but they are pretty expensive. Everything is going to be anywhere from 12-20$ for a plate on average, which is a good deal for how much food you get. We ended up bringing back a lot of leftovers.Drinks were also very expensive, we spent close to 40$ on just two shots and two mixed drinks. No prices on the drink menu so you dont know, never would have ordered if I knew that, which feels pretty deceptive.That being said, the food was pretty enjoyable and the atmosphere was very nice as well, I love the style of the building and its interior. Definitely feels like a genuine Mexican restaurant. You should go ahead and try it at least once if you are in the area.

My favorite restaurant in the area. HUGE plates, delicious food, bacon wrapped shrimp diablo is A+ appetizer. I usually get steak and chkn molcajete. The chicken enchiladas are bomb AF too. Fat a** burritos! The bowl of chkn tortilla soup is another favorite.They also have a great drink menu. With tons of margarita options and other cocktails.

This is my go to restaurant got off work today and I take my wife there and it’s entirely different from the last times we were there. Had waitress named Alma whom was very rude and didn’t even speak much we felt very rushed as she cleared are table without asking if we were even finished. Its not often you find a restaurant that on Sundays you get good Mexican food an more a Buffet. Yes, this place offers it. It was great eating here, my first time going and was delighted with what you get. Bring a small or large group or yourself to eat. Worth what you pay for. Want to order from their food menu? You can. For those who want breakfast they do omelets made your way. Plus all you can drink mimosas. But get here early to beat the line to be seated an its only til 9am/ 2pm. Great place. Id seen it for years but never tried it. Once I tried it... Oh man. Went back a week later.The salsa and bean dip they give you is sooooo tasty. The tortilla chips are extra good.They make homemade tortillas that are divine.Both their Spanish rice and cilantro rice are delicious. Their entree portions are enormous. No bland food here - well seasoned and so tasty. I had a shrimp dishes my first time (fresh and spicy) and a 2 item combo the second time. Parking lot is plenty big and has handicap spaces available.There were five in our party arriving ~5:00. We were seated in about 5 minutes. Our Server promptly came and took beverage orders. When we were ready for food, ordering was quick and easy. Our foods were great, hot and tasty. Didnt get pics of it all. The whole place smelled so good! The atmosphere was friendly and festive. My wife and I always here to eat for date. Today was not a great day. I been very sick for noisy and loud. There so many kids and customer was like screaming when talking inside and with the music. Overall, the waiter and crew provided excellent attention, and the chips, salsa, and beans were freshly prepared. Well-seasoned Mexican food is hard to come by in this part of town, coming from East LA where the Mexican food is their specialty. I heard about this place in our neighborhood community page forum & decided to give it a try when we had family over.Really reminds you of a el torrito style restaurant. Really loud live band who walks table to table. It seems cool but can be very loud for the 15-20 mins they are around your table area.We ordered the appetizer platter which had a mix of things. 1st red flag is Buffalo chicken wings at a “authentic Mexican restaurant”. Some of the items on the platter were decent.I had the shrimp burrito as my entree & it was actually really good. The rice/beans are a disappointment.The wait time for drinks & food is enormous. You’d think that drinks would come out faster while we wait for food but nope. By the time food even came out- everyone felt tired & full from the free chips/salsa.Overall it’s a 3/5 since the entrees were pretty good for everyone at our table but this place definitely isn’t close to being the “ best authentic restaurant” in Sacramento.

I came here for my birthday yesterday which they knew, they did not provide any discounts nor anything free. They did not give us sugar when we requested it we had to keep asking in which one of the servers lied saying they dont provide sugar anymore. The waitress only came around twice I did not like my entree (the macho man). They provide complimentary large baskets of freshly made tortilla chips, salsa, and bean dip. Yummy! Its hard not to fill up on chips and dips before your hearty, big-portioned meals. I really like the food here. More expensive than your typical Mexican food restaurants but it isn’t typical. It’s an experience just being inside, the decor is stunning. The service is on it even on a busy day with little help. The diabla burrito in all honesty could be hotter. Not sure how high my tolerance is but turn up the heat bit, I mean is suppose to be from hell and it’s unbearably hot there. The Pina Loca was amazing. I have never had anything like it. I think I dream about it, haha, it’s that good. If you are celebrating something come here it will definitely be memorable.

Although they were so busy our waiter made sure to check on us frequently and make sure we had drinks and chips with salsa and bean dip while we waited. Very friendly staff.The food was amazing. Very big plates for a great price. They also have kids menus with plenty to choose from. I ordered the Chile Colorado which was perfect. Always my #1 choice when trying a new restaurant and was not let down. My wife ordered a combo plate which came with 3 entrees and beans and rice. So much food I had lunch for the next day as well.I will definitely be returning to try more and would recommend them to anyone in the area looking for a good meal. Well worth it!

The scale of this restaurant is massive, and the service is absolutely on point. Its very impressive. The food portions are gigantic, and the food is very good. I was super excited to come here at the El Tapatio in citrus heights, ever since i heard about it. Y’ALL… the food is soooooooo bad. I am Mexican myself & the rice tasted so bland (like white people’s version of mexican rice). I tried both the red rice and lime & cilantro. My order was al pastor tacos. They were literally so sweet it caught me off guard. My partner ordered a red tamale plate and it was mid too. The vibes in there are nice, the employees are sweet and funny i honestly just think the food is the problem. at one point i looked up and realized my partner and i were the only Mexicans seated lol it was full of gringos. I’d recommend going to an actual authentic restaurant because this food is bad yall

Never going back. The server told us to leave because they needed the table when we had just finished our food. Like 6 minutes wrapping up our conversation. Taco salad wasnt great. They interupted our conversation every 5 minutes and they had some lady with a microphone singing super loud so you could barely hear eachother talk. Theres lots of Mexican restaurants. My family and I have been going here for years and it’s easily my husband’s favorite restaurant. The service is always top notch and friendly, the restaurant is very family friendly, and the food is delicious. We always have a good time whether it’s busy or slow. My only complaint is that the women’s bathroom is very small, even the handicap bathroom is a tight squeeze, so if you’re needing to take your kids in with you for the normal kiddo bathroom run, it’s a tight fit. But as an abled person, this isn’t a big deal for me and is more than made up for by the service and food. Will continue to come here!

I didn’t get a fajitas although they brought me a sample of the steak and it was some of the best meat I’ve ever tasted. I Got Mucho platter with a chimichanga, enchilada, and a Chile Relleno. The shredded beef was probably the most disappointing to me. Over all I was quite satisfied. Also they give you chips salsa dip bean dip. I was super full and took much food home. With such a high rating, i had to try this place, and it was not a let down. When I arrived I was greeted right away and sat with no wait. The place has a nice mexican theme, its very bright and colorful without being overwhelming. Within a minute of being seated, I had chips and salsa. There are mushrooms in the enchilada and the taste overall was great. The person with me had the steak tacos and said they were really good, tender, well seasoned, and quality steak. Each dish comes with this corn ball thats a bit sweet and adds a nice touch to the dish. I loved it. As far as service it was great, there was also what seemed to be a server assistant that checked on us as well. He was really helpful and got me some hot tea when asked. Even Adalbertos can produce a better result than what I received that day.Companion 1 ordered a shrimp cocktail. Per his feedback, it was chock full of fresh shrimp swimming in a tomato salsa. High marks for this dish.Companion 2 ordered the fish taco plate. Though he hardly touched it, he swore it was excellent so I will take him at his word.

Average Mexican food but they have no ability to operate efficiently in an online/to-go/COVID world. Placed an online order at NOON for 4:30 pickup. Received a message at 3:00 that they were working on our food. Arrived at 4:30 to a crowd of confused and frustrated customers. Nobody directing people where to go. Checked in and proceeded to wait 56 minutes, (now 5:30), before we received our order of quesadillas and fajitas after asking for it multiple times.It seems though the food had been sitting for a while as the queso and quesadillas were cold and congealed. After reheating everything at home the food had decent flavor. However we were missing rice and beans from one of our dishes despite the guy passing it out reassuring us that he, double-checked it. We were also disappointed with the table-side guac and queso portions. For $10 (guac) and $8 (queso) I would expect more than half-filled 12oz containers.A 2-star review is generous but Im allowing for COVID-chaos. It may be a different experience sitting down in person but if youre going for take-out, bring your patience, a lawn chair and water and be sure to check your order before leaving.

I would suggest going around the entire offering if youre going in during the buffet on a Sunday, I missed their salsa for chips because I didnt look over by the bar.Their chicken mole was something different and unexpected, leaving a memorable taste and a reminder to try again in the future.The cheese enchiladas, in a buffet, with that Oaxaca cheese? I was addicted, but full upon realizing. Very fun and family friendly atmosphere. You cant throw a burrito in this town without hitting a Mexican restaurant and the burrito bounces and hits another Mexican restaurant. BUT...you dont want to throw El Tapatios burritos. Theyre to good to do that. In fact, everything Ive had there has been good, and the menus long. Years ago the building used to be an old El Torito. They went down hill and thankfully went away. But El Tapatio dressed the place up with festive colors which is visually appealing. And on select days they have a Mariachi band wandering around which makes for an enjoyable experience.
