Food was good. My husband and I ordered two sushi rolls and camarones zarandeados. The mojito flights were bomb, kind of small but they hit the spot 🙂

The staff was great. The food was just so bland. Was super excited for the vegan menu, but the burrito had no flavor. One of our group got the regular asada cheese taco, and they said the meat was good, but everyone else said the food was just okay.

Excellent vegan dishes, large portions, tasty.The only weird thing is that it seemed like the staff didnt really care about having clients.... When we asked if there was room at the outdoor patio tables for 5 they insisted that only 2 per table could fit. Actually, all 5 people + dog fit nicely around one outdoor patio table.No complaints about the food. Everything was great and very filling.

Great Mexican food. Everything is vegan, but we went with non-vegan family and everyone was happy. They have a gluten-free menu as well which was helpful. Not only did it taste good, but it looked good to. Fajitas came out sizzling and smelled fantastic!

I love this place! They have the best vegan food and now non vegan options as well. The building is so beautiful and decent size. The service and staff is so friendly! Great drink selection. Have been and will continue to come back here as a favorite place to eat.

Were always on the lookout for great vegetarian and vegan when we travel and Madre Tierra did not disappoint! The plant based menu is excellent. We had the shrimp tacos and the loaded nachos with jackfruit. The jackfruit was so well cooked, tender and so flavorful! My partner declared the shrimp actually tasted like popcorn shrimp, which impressed him. Our drinks were also delicious and everything on the menu was so very reasonably priced. To top it all off, our server was wonderful and the kitchen turned out dishes that were both beautiful and prepared in a timely fashion. Looking around the venue, we noticed many happy families and couples. Everyone looked to be enjoying their meal. We absolutely plan to visit again!

Really liked this place, good portions, and pretty authentic food. Although the salsa was kinda watery and the food need a tad bit of salt to bring out the flavor. Overall good food, beautiful restaurant and amazing price. I need to try the sushi next time!

I got so excited to eat it, I forgot to take most of the pics before I ate...LOL but really, This place is GREAT!!! they have In-N-Out animal Fries, if you miss those...Different name.. The Nachos are enormous. Most of the things you get are decent size for $$ also that its vegan, You usually dont get much anywhere else! My favorite was the California Burrito with Chorizo!!! and the Animal Fries!!! I wanted to try the Sushi but didnt realize that its only served after 3PM daily. But not to worry, Ill be back! Oh and great and friendly service!!! you guys are awesome!

I didnt miss meat AT ALL! Im a huge carnivore and I NEED meat with every meal. . . Or so I thought until I tried Madre Tierra! My best friend is vegetarian and so therefore sometimes I must succumb to her choice in restaurant.However, I can definitely say I was NOT disappointed! We went for happy hour and had a little bit of everything! We liked everything we tried and it was decently priced. I cant get over the fact that there was no meat at all! I had to ask the server to make sure it was an all vegetarian restaurant! It was that gooood! Definitely recommend 10/10!

Very delicious. I was skeptical on the Loaded Nachos but surprise, surprise the cheese was place in the middle and it was perfect! I got Jackfruit Pollo (chicken). Dont let the decor throw you off, in my opinion maybe adding some colors, some live green plants it would be cozy and warm verses empty. Im glad they survived the pandemic, since its my first time there and it wont be the last. Serve is attentive, kind and a very clean restaurant.

So good! We were seated right away when we walked in at 11am for brunch. The decor is nice with dark woods and a nice open floor plan seating with tables and booths. They play authentic Latin music, and the restaurant although vegan/vegetarian, doesnt scream vegan restaurant at you. They have a full bar if youd like to order drinks.Our server said they now open an hour earlier, so you can come in at 10am. Our server was so friendly and kind and pleasant to speak with. She gave us great suggestions. The wait wasnt long for our food, and the food itself was delicious. We got the carne asada fries, the breakfast burrito, the coconut shrimp tacos, cucumber frescos, and horchata. Our bill came out to be about $50 for two people. The drinks are bottomless and only $2 each! The salsa/sauces served with our food was delicious, especially the spicy sauce which was my favorite.One thing I wasnt the biggest fan of was the bathrooms. The sink water pressure is bit high so the water youre washing your hands with mists back at you and all over the sink itself. The bathroom doors also are rather large and wide, so its a bit cumbersome to get in and out of the bathroom stalls.All in all, two thumbs up!

This restaurant is in a building where they have great wood work inside that is reminiscent of a church or art museum. But the main artwork is being served by the great staff and prepared by amazing chefs that understand plant-based meals.The food is appealing to all senses. My wife and I ordered the loaded fries along with the enchilada plate which were both delicious. We finished with a creme brûlée.The nice part is that you don’t have to ask as to whether any dishes have milk or eggs...although our waiter says that many people still ask.Enjoy mostly plants.

1st time here & we were pretty impressed. It was Tuesday around 4:30 so it was pretty empty at that day/time. We were greeted immediately & were told we could sit anywhere. The server was friendly & took our drink order pretty quickly. We had a couple of questions about some items & he made sure to ask for us because he wasnt 100% sure. Our food came out quick, presentation was good & hot. We started with the mushroom calamari & it was pretty tasty, they were tempura style & they were perfectly crunchy. My potato tacos were good but I found them a lil on the bland side. They have a pretty spicy salsa that I asked for that went good w/ the tacos though. My husband gave his wet burrito a 6-7 but only because the texture got to him after a while. He said the flavor was good but he described the texture as soft as mushrooms, so it was too soft for him. Overall this place is good. They have a nice looking bar, the whole place is pretty nice. Well definitely come back again to try other items. 😊

I cannot express how amazing this place is. I am on a work trip and searched for a local vegan spot. I had no idea I would walk into such a gorgeous restaurant to pick up my takeout. The street tacos were incredible. The green and spicy salsas were the cherries on top. The staff was so friendly and parking was easy. I legitimately could not have had a better experience. I should have taken a photo of the tacos, but I ate them too fast!

This just might be my new favorite restaurant in Montclair. Finally, a quality, real food restaurant!!! Amazing drinks and the food that we tried was 🔥👌🏼!!! I tried the popcorn sushi rolls (freaking amazing) and my husband tried the Chile Relleno also super flavorful. We are both not vegan but will definitely be back!!!Atmosphere was relaxing, a musician was playing and the TVs were playing football 🙌🏼.I tried the margarita flight, it was really good quality & caught a buzz and my husband had a michelada that was also 5 stars. Good bartender for sures.

Absolutely amazing! This plant based restaurant is delicious! The Jackfruit BBQ salad is scrumptious and very filling. The sushi is legit tastes like regular sushi and last but not least the Madre Tierra Fries are the equivalent if not better than animal style fries and the plus is that they are a healthier version. Food is highly recommend!

Let me just start by saying the 4 stars is just because Im coming back to try more so I want room to be delighted again!I had the Torta de Chilaquiles and I can say I was so pleased with the taste. Everything tasted so fresh, the cauliflower wings were perfect. My husband had the tacos n he was just like this new way of eating is not bad at all! I can honestly thought my new lifestyle was going to be hard because I tried bland tasteless vegan food but this is delicious! The service was great too! I will become a regular here 😍

Good is good, service is outstanding. My michelada was okay so our server offered to improve it and it did taste better, but it was still mediocre 😅 I think its just the mix they use. I couldnt finish it, but its the great attitude that counts for me. Food was really good! Far Better than i had expected, and portions are great too! Interior was clean and neat. Interior design was beautiful. Staff is very friendly. All plant based vegan food.Highly recommend the Popcorn roll and crab cakes.

This is a slightly different review than any other Ive written. Im fond of Mexican food and Japanese. Doing a simply Yelp look up this restaurant seemed intriguing. As is a quick look up hardly enough detail, let alone good reviews and pictures to grasp the essence of a restaurant. I am not Vegan, but I am a big fan of flavor. Finding out after examing the menu that this was exclusively a Vegan restaurant surprised me but left me more curious. The COVID-19 protocols allowed for indoor dining and the restaurant had a cool vibe and warm detail. The images I added are street tacos and empanadas. Both had Jackfruit Chicken and Saitan Asada. The Chicken was decievingly good, the Asada a close second. As a traditional carnivore I cant say that I was disappointed, but not enough to say my palette was decieved to believe the true decadent pleasure of a Mexican meal was satisfied. If you are Vegetarian or Vegan, I imagine this is top notch. If you are not and looking for a healthy alternative, I highly recommend it!

So I told my best friend who is vegan about this place. She tried it and loved it and sent me pics of her food so I had to try it even though I am a meat lover. The service was great. Delicious vegan Mexican restaurant with a cozy antique aesthetic. Im lactose intolerant and usually skeptical of cheese substitutes, and I loved the food here. I got the California burrito with red sauce and chicken and it arrived as an absolute unit of burrito. I could only make my way through two-thirds of it before packing it up.Great food, attentive servers, highly recommend.

Finally, a Mexican plant-based restaurant that serves its plates with pride. The aesthetics of the restaurant need attention (like new chairs and live plants for staters), but its a quaint place. If youre there for the ambiance, youre at the wrong place, but the food is obviously prepared with careful intention. I visited with three, generally-constipated, carnivores who ate their meals with much surprise. I dont like mushroom, before eating Mushroom Calamari to, Wow! This is really good! I cant believe theyre mushrooms. The Cauliflower Wings are great. Other places havent found the balance between size and sauce. They have it all figured out here. The plating is beautiful. All food tastes better well-plated. I wish I had tried the spirits, but it was a workday. The salsa and dish sauces are delicious. If youre expecting plants to taste like meat, go elsewhere. If youre expecting to eat a healthy meal, stop on by. Its worth the food experience.

This has been on my to go places for awhile. Ive been to lots of vegan places in LA., Hollywood and OC, but never to one in Upland. What a nice find! My husband who is not vegan really was impressed. It was better than Gracias Madre in Weho. I was not disappointed at all with the flavors. Im definitely keeping this on my list to go back especially since its closer than driving to LA. The only thing I wish....is that the dishes were a little warmer, for some reason the temperature was a little cooler than I like my food. But the leftovers were great and cant wait to try other dishes.

I love the diversity of food choices it makes a plant-based diet truly enjoyable.Started off with the Hummingbird appetizer - it will make you think you’re eating actual crab and the added sauces are soooo good.The Breakfast Sandwich is delicious honestly makes you wonder if it’s really vegan.The French Toast with the fresh strawberries and blueberries are a 10/10 - love that they have a side of chocolate sauce along with the syrup.The Steak Fajitas tastes just like steak & the fresh corn tortillas are perfect. This is an awesome all vegan Mexican restaurant! I love Mexican food so to be able to order freely off the menu without having to special request anything is great. I’ve tried the French toast, eggs, and bacon, tempura sushi roll, stuffed jalapeños, & the chili relleno plate. Sad theyre not full vegan anymore, but they do still have a vegan menu. Cant confirm if they use separate prep areas in case you are strict about that. You do have to ask for the vegan menu and its much smaller and more expensive.Meat eating friends liked their food a lot. Mezcal martini is so good, and great to have live Mexican music.

Tried this place for the first time. I can say its worth every penny. We tried their impossible quesadilla and tacos (taquitos) de papa. I had a shrimp ceviche tostada. It was perfect! My husband tried the shrimp plate with rice and beans. We had a watermelon margarita and the Tizoc, a cucumber jalapeño cocktail. The food was tasty, the drinks were great and the live band was very good too. We will be back, I’d like to try their vegan menu next time. I highly recommend.

One day to another it’s not longer vegan 😔 truly heartbreaking. They had the best vegan Mexican food. Now the new owners “kept” a small vegan menu but don’t be fooled. The vegan meat is not seasoned and it literally microwave! Generic tortillas and they have no salsa! The salsa they serve isn’t vegan…. Which is just weird. The jackfruit mole was microwaves mole in flour tortillas with sweet chocolate sauce over it. Mole isn’t suppose to be that sweet. It was awful.

First thing I want to mention, its not a vegan restaurant anymore, waitress said it changed 3 months ago, we were very disappointed because we were going for the cauliflower hot wings. We stayed and ordered, the food was good, I got the shrimp cocktail and the Margarita flight, service was great. The worst thing for us was that there was a live band playing but it was TOO LOUD, they played as if they were in a stadium, its not a large restaurant so there was no need to play / sing SO LOUD, we couldnt even talk to each other. We went on a Friday evening, 6pm & left by 6:50, ate and drank our food fast to get out, seriously, the band played TOO LOUD. Also, they didnt have the AC on, it was hot in there, I saw a waitress fanning herself with a menu. Not going back but because of the band. We payed about $120 for 2 flights, shrimp cocktail, sushi plate and a street taco, it was just two of us.

This was my first time there and OMG it is so delicious. I didnt know what to expect, but I was so amazed.I ordered the buffalo cauliflower, dragon roll, and another sushi roll. I came here recently with some friends. I was really excited to try the sushi only to find out that the cook who makes them was sick. I feel like thats something that the server should have told us as soon as she sat as them but instead she waited until we had all made up our minds and were had to change what food we were going to get.I ended up getting the western burger which was a HUGE mistake. The bread was flat it barely had any barbecue sauce, SO IT WAS REALLY DRY, and the patty was flavorless even though it was an impossible patty IT JUST LACKED FLAVOR. I would not recommend this burger at all.My friend got the shrimp coconut tacos soup and that was pretty decent.I would have left three stars but the service was not grea overall. Our waitress said she couldnt split our bill because she had already run it in the computer which to me sounded like an excuse, there should always be an option to split the bill. So we all have to pay evenly when some people in our group had order less food than others.Not only that but we were charged a service fee to use our card and she did not even mention it at all until I looked at the receipt after I paid.Very disappointing indeed.

I’m not vegan but I’ve had some less than satisfying vegan restaurant meals— this place delivers deliciousness. I’m pretty astounded at how they have such a comprehensive menu of mexican food. I picked up an order from here a few days ago (Potato taquitos, guacamole, and buffalo cauliflower). Everything was so good and packaged up really well. The person who helped me was very friendly, too. My husband and I, and our two young children, went there again today. The service was exceptional as well as the food. My husband tried the Al Pastor Burrito. He loved the flavor and the kick. They give large portions (even with the guacamole) so come hungry. We are definitely going back again soon.

100% plant based restaurant. Its not totally obvious and as a vegetarian I had to ask to make sure. The way the messaging is related can be confusing.The menu is accessed through a QR code but despite refreshing the web page a number of times, I couldnt see the menu. There were weekend specials but they werent on the order online menu I was finally able to access.The service was very unwelcoming and unhelpful. Maybe they were having a bad day, but it created an awkward situation where we felt like we just wanted to finish our food quickly and leave.On a positive note, the food was good! The tacos were better than most meat tacos. But I returned to it this past Tuesday and found changes to the menu. I found a regular meat selection menu and a special vegan menu (by request) were two menus offered. I know businesses need money, I liked the restaurant more when it was only vegan food selections. Also heads up they don’t tell you. If you use card there is a surge charge. My bill was $45 and there was a $1.75 charge for using my card. Ive been coming here for some time now & I feel a different experience each time. Its a hit or miss with their sushi, so if youre dead set on that are sure to call ahead of time in case they run out. Regardless, youll have great drink and food choices. I opted for:Como La Flor - a vodka and Jamaica base martini-style drink with half the rim sugared and the other with tajin. Perfect blend of flavors.Mushroom calamari- I loved the crisp of the batter, but could do with a tad bit more flavor. Dressing on the side went great with it.Empanadas (jackfruit and asada) - I was not expecting the size and amount of food these empanadas were stuffed with. They slice open the empanada and stuff with ingredients, presenting it on a taco holder. They were so good but I couldnt only eat 1 and take a bite of the other. This restaurant has the worst customer service you can imagine for to-go orders. One time they missed adding the extra jackfruit though charged for it, the other time they put some other weird vegan meat instead of jackfruit, another time they tried to charge me for another person’s order which was almost twice of what I was supposed to pay (thankfully I noticed before paying). I have been eating here for 3-4 years and the customer service used to be pretty good, it has gone down the drain the last couple of months. Some of the staff is also very inattentive and would keep on chatting instead of giving you the order even when it is sitting there ready. The food itself is decent and I liked the option for jackfruit (a natural ingredient) as a vegan protein rather than the highly processed fake meats. But it is this one lady in particular that messes up my orders all the time, and she is the one picking up the call often, so I am not going back there anymore.

Hands down one of the top 3 vegan restaurants in my opinion! I am a bit of a regular here and I have to say, the food is amazing, flavorful and always looks and smells amazing. The staff is always friendly, attentive and they make you feel like family. It is a business started from and ran by family and it shows in the best way possible! The inside of the building is absolutely beautiful and they really made the patio seating work for them and look just as beautiful outside as well. Update May 2022: I wanted to give this another shot after they reopened back in Jan. We got the ‘steak’ fajitas, jackfruit ‘chicken’ nachos (we always love nachos), with sides of rice and beans. This was the most flavorless, bland, and lifeless tasting food. The fajita ‘steak’ had no seasoning whatsoever and had the flavor of unsalted boiled ‘steak’, the beans were too watery and lacked flavor, the rice was dull and forgettable, the nachos could have been great since there are many layers but when all of the layers taste like nothing it just leaves for a disappointing layers of nothing. Not sure if we’re just getting unlucky here as most of the reviews rave about the flavor that I’m still trying to find.In all honesty it tasted like something you’d get for hospital food (where there is no flavor or seasoning to appeal to all diets). I’ll be removing stars from 5 to 1 since time after time of trying things without improvement. I’m so disappointed though! This place could be amazing but the lack of seasoning is unlike anything I’ve seen. I have tried many establishments that served vegan food but this is an entire restaurant and this by far has the absolute best vegan Mexican food Ive ever ever ever eaten. From the first bite, I was just blown away by the entire meal. I chose the California Wet burrito (half and half red and green sauce) with jackfruit. As a plant based chef myself, this truly made me proud of the chef, seriously, kudos. True food alchemist. Thank you for the talent and the taste was inspiring. It was quite expensive to eat here. Compared to other vegan restaurants, this was not the best. Borreguitas (in Pomona) is much more affordable and a lot more flavorful. The quality of the food is a lot better there. The atmosphere isn’t the greatest but l would much prefer for the food to be of quality than for the restaurant to be fancy looking. Employees were kind but forgetful and were hardly around to ask if anything was needed. My main complaint is that after eating there, my fiancée and l felt very sick. We actually still do. I know that it is the food that we ate there that caused this since it is the only thing that we had eaten (aside from the homemade food that we ate much earlier in the day..food that we always have and has never made us sick) I was already skeptical about eating some of the food that was served to us but l never thought that it would have us feeling this way. Came in on a Tuesday they had taco Tuesday specials for street tacos going and we arrived in time for happy hour. Ordered the mushroom calamari to start which was very good. Also got the mojito and margarita flight. The drinks were okay, definitely suggest taking advantage of the happy hour prices if you can. It was $17 during happy hour and $25 normally. Got the street tacos and the swiss enchiladas highly recommend the enchiladas. This place does a great job with their sauces and salsa. Give this place a try you wont be disappointed.

I really liked this place. They have a completely plant based menu and make it deliciously. The hummingbirds was recommended as a starter and it was fantastic (described as creme cheese and crab meat jalapenos). A few very sensitive people might describe them as too hot but they were spot on for me. We also had wet burritos that were tasty. From the restaurant name you might expect only Mexican food but they also have a list of sushi items, salads, and burgers featuring your choice of either lmpossible or Beyond patties. I cant wait to try some of these other dishes.

Mexican plant based goodness! I am of Mexican descent and to find authentic mexican food but without the cruelty AND tastes good is very slim. Thankfully, on a whim to try new places i went here some time back and this place has been my go-to ever since. The food is as authentic as you can get, the staff are attentive, helpful and social. Walking in is just like any other restaurant that serves food, drinks, and spirits. What sets them apart is that their food is authentic mexican food that is plant based. The food was delicious however I was upset to find out that they charge all the plain unsweetened ice tea at my table as if it was an upgraded Agua Fresca. Theres 2 different prices on the menu for fountain drinks and Agua Fresca. So, to be clear, I still eat meat, but my body doesn’t agree with it anymore so I eat vegan as often as possible. I ordered the “carne asada” sopes and holy moly they were delicious. Nice to see a Vegan Mexican place. First time here so first impressions is almost everything.A good size crowd in the restaurant which is a good sign.
