2024-06-27 04:24:12Upon picking up our rented RV we found it to have a ton of wear and tear inside and out. We were rushed through the process so we didn’t have time to really inspect it until we got home and parked it. We were floored by the extent of the filth. It took three straight hours to clean it. Every surface had to be scrubbed, with the exception of the ceiling (quite literally every surface. No exaggeration). There was what looked like dried pancake batter all over the counters; dead bugs and hair everywhere; stuff running down the walls; very gross “curly” hairs all over the bathroom; urine and excrement on the toilet that was ironically labeled as sanitized; and the dirtiest floors I have ever seen. The floors were so gross that they turned a brand new cloth steam mop pad black — literally black. Please see attached pics. The seats and beds are in terrible shape, with scuffs, tears, and holes in them. The small table between the captains chairs was missing and I had to ask the rental guy to please find us one. The trim was falling off everywhere and taped or crudely nailed back on with the nail heads popping out. When we booked the rental we were told it comes with a DVD player and upon doing the walk through we asked the guy to confirm that there is one. He said yes, there is a DVD player, but when I asked him to show it to me he searched for it and said “well it doesn’t have one.” I also asked him about the nets for the bunks and he said they don’t have nets. I said, “but there are pictures of the nets on the website,” but he insisted that there are no nets for those beds. When scrubbing the RV I found the nets under the mattresses. The guy also told us the wrong amperage for the RV. Their own employees don’t even seem to know what’s going on with the rentals. The RV shook violently and squeaked very loudly for the entire trip. The jacks on the RV weren’t working properly and so we couldn’t level it out and we leaned terribly to one side at the camp. We were not able to use the shower at all because the shower head was clogged and only had a few working holes on it. We had to use the showers and toilets at the resort. And now for the absolute worst part: the air conditioning went out during our first day of the trip. It was 109° in the desert and we had no air conditioning with 6 people on board for 16 hours. We had to fix the a/c ourselves, per the rental company, which took two hours from our day to troubleshoot and repair, not including the 42 minutes on hold before the first call was dropped while we were still holding. 42 minutes of waiting on them to answer and then they hung up on us before we even spoke. The wiring harness for the air was disconnected because of how rough the ride is. The violent shaking while driving is literally making the wires and trim fall off. Then on the way back home the air went out again. We had to pull over and fix it as soon as we found a place to stop. In the middle of the desert there are very few places to stop, so we rode without air in the dead of summer. Again, we were driving through the Nevada desert and this time it was 114° outside, with no air conditioning. The kids got sick from the heat and we had to cool them off with ice packs from our cooler because the freezer doesn’t get cold enough to freeze anything. I had family fly in from 2000 miles away to make this special trip with us and I was so embarrassed by the condition of this RV. Renters, please be forewarned that they do not really clean these RV’s and you are either going to have to do it yourself or travel in the filth of others, and that the general condition of the RV is something akin to an hourly motel. You will be uncomfortably hot and you will be responsible for the maintenance on the RV when things go wrong — and they will go wrong. For $2500+, I expected better. The state of this RV is just downright unacceptable. Upon return they did credit us a small amount back because of all of the above, but it was too little and too late. Never again.

2024-06-21 04:11:17We rented a large class C and loved it! Did the reservation online, and pick up was pretty quick. Rv was a newer model, clean, and comfortable. Pricing was pretty good too. Will definitely be back.

2024-04-27 03:56:31We had a very good experience with our RV from El Monte. We had it rented from their other company “Mighty Campers”, which use the older models. We would go with El Monte again because of the good service and reasonable price but would probably rent it from El Monte directly because the RV had some minor issues. If you want to have a great experience with the newest models just go with El Monte directly. Anyway it was great with our RV as well!

2024-05-21 04:35:30We are currently traveling in one of these vehicles. The vehicle initially had no defects during the visual inspection. But then it started... The maintenance symbol looked up. Then the symbol for the lane departure warning system... Every time the vehicle is switched on there is an annoying beep that indicates that the systems that are not active when driving on slopes. Every now and then the red message brake even though the brakes were completely released. When reversing there is a big message saying that an update is needed etc. When the black water tank is emptied, it is only half empty according to the display and even the TV needed an update. For me - my last El Monte.

2022-08-22 16:46:08We have just finished our first motorhome vacation and we could not be happier with our choice to rent from El Monte at Santa Fe Springs. Alonso was so patient with us from the outset when we needed to see all the RV door sizes to accommodate our disabled daughter. Picking up the RV was very straightforward and again, Alonso was a gem. He gave us great instructions and then answered all of our newbie questions and facilitated an otherwise stressful experience. Returning the vehicle after a week exploring the beautiful state of California was just as easy with Richard handling the inspection and return with a friendly and professional manner that just ended our whole experience on such a high note. Thanks so much El Monte! Can’t wait for our next motorhome rental holiday.

2021-11-22 21:09:20Andrea was excellent! She got us out quickly so didn’t waste vacation time in rental office. She provided very thorough details and the whole team did a great job providing a clean RV to use for the week. They help with any questions or concerns you may have. Will definitely use them again. Malibu RV is only 45 miles away!

2024-06-12 21:00:50I wouldn’t rent an RV from this crooked place if it were the only rental place on earth. Terrible customer service! We rented an RV to move my friend to Texas. Twenty-six miles west of Dallas the transmission started slipping. Forty-six miles east of Dallas a truck sheared off the passenger side mirror. We finally got to our destination and called El Monte RV rental in McKinney, Texas to let them know the RV was undrivable. They wanted us to drive it seventy miles from our location! We said no! They came to pick it up and told us it would be three weeks before we would get it back to drive back to California. We couldn’t wait so they charged us five thousand dollars to leave it in McKinney.Warning, Do not rent from this company!

2022-10-08 20:36:22Very pleased with the service - will book with El Monte again. We did 2 weeks in a largest C class variant with slide outs. For a group of 4 adults it was a perfect fit. Probably the best way to experience the great American outdoors. We had a few technical issues with power steering leaving us stranded on Walmart’s parking lot in Cedar City and that would be 3 stars but the way El Monte sorted that out including the replacement vehicle, bring it back to 5 stars thanks to stellar customer service (thanks to Andrea from LA office). Once you rent your RV, make sure to see Sequoia, Yosemite and Zion parks 👌🏼
