Ive been using El Camino Bike shop for close to 20 years and whenever something happens to my bikes, I always seem to end up here because they either have what I specifically need or can do what I want done.Also, they will do custom work on your bike very quickly and professionally. Theyre very knowledgeable and very reasonable.Recently I had a seat and post stolen off my commuter/fitness bike in broad daylight in the ghetto section near Petco where I work and El Camino Cycle, Ernie specifically, had the right stuff.

Brought my bike here for a full service tune up ($100), I was pumped because I heard how good these guys were from my neighbor. I had to bring it back because it was not tuned well and shifting worse than before I dropped it off. Second time was no better so I brought it to another shop where they recommended a new component, another $100. This would have saved me a lot of time and money if this problem was discovered on the initial drop off.

If you’re getting a bike fixed for someone you love, DO NOT BRING IT HERE.i needed my trek bike looked at & fixed in a short period of time so i could use it as my main transportation to work. it was a gift from a friend so i didn’t know much about it, only that it hadn’t been used in a while & needed a tuneup before riding.when i brought it into the shop the first time, i was told the ONLY thing keeping it from riding perfectly was that the wheels weren’t the right size for the bike.we agreed to order & install new wheels, and add a rack/basket to the back (per my request), at a $300 estimate for everything.i dropped off my bike, then waited two weeks for a call back. i then had to call repeatedly to speak to someone about the status of my bike, apparently their phone line was having issues.after another week of waiting, i finally got through to the shop, who said my bike had been done the week prior & i was free to come pick it up.Now, all of this would’ve been fine. i understand communication errors in a business.But when i go to pick up my bike, the wheels are replaced, and i’m told they took the liberty of replacing the chain as well as some other things for me as well -They also took the liberty of charging me for all of these things, my total coming to $322. but there was no rack or basket.They claimed to have no note of this, and if i wanted one installed i’d have to wait another few days, as well as pay full cost.I was pretty upset over the time i’d wasted at this point, so i explained what happened to the manager & eventually managed to reach an agreement - id purchase a rack from him at $61 (after tax), have them install it for free, and receive a basket of my choosing for free as well.Sounds like a pretty good deal for me, right?WRONG.MY VERY FIRST RIDE TO WORK, THE RACK THEY HAD JUST INSTALLED, CAME APART.i happen to be a very lucky individual. i sensed danger the moment i heard tiny metal pieces hitting the ground behind me, and slowed down a great deal right as the basket slammed into the pavement, still attached to my bike.Now, i had just come off two very steep hills i live on, where i cannot simply slow down & pull to the side like that had it happened only minutes earlier.The impact could’ve killed me. at minimum, having your momentum halted on a hill like that - you’re breaking bones.when i went to get my money back, i asked if this was possibly a manufacturing issue, still hoping not to place early blame.the owner himself said the reason it happened was because a part wasn’t screwed in tight enough, NOT because of a defect with the product.he then continued to argue with my boyfriend over the extra $50 i wanted refunded simply for carelessness on their behalf.the owner of this place is slimy. and so is his tattooed mechanic who climbed up from the back to elaborate us on what things they charged us for to begin with:turns out, one of the $10 charges was for a bike bag that was ALREADY MINE. it was attached to the bike when it was given to me, and was clearly very old, so that tells you something about how smart these guys are.i never got my refund for the rack that was supposed to go through on my card, i have a feeling the owner managed to slip out of the transaction in all the confusion.but i will never be returning here again.IF YOU VALUE YOUR SAFETY, TIME, AND MONEY, DO NOT BRING YOUR BIKES HERE.

Ive purchased 3 bicycles here and had a great experience every time. I live in Idaho and have grandchildren in Carlsbad. The folks at El Camino took the time to make sure every bike fit properly with a test ride. And a follow up in 60 days to make sure all adjustments were good. Definitely 5 stars!

Kyler is the best! I brought in my new road bike to ask if he could put on the pedals and he kindly agreed and did not want to charge me anything so, I decided to give him a grateful tip + chocolates as a Thank You + decided to bring in my antique road bike for a tune-up, etc. It did need new parts, etc. So, because of Kylers kindness I decided to give my business to El Camino over my usual Revolution in SB who is closer to my home but does not meet the 5star customer service + great work that I received at El Camino! Will the owner is great too! He overcharged me a bit when I came in to pick up my bike but immediately resolved the issue by agreeing on the overcharge and corrected it. My antique road bike now rides better than it did when it was new! Totally worth it!

Friendly service, great selection, and no annoying upselling tactics - we experienced all this at El Camino Bike Shop on Saturday afternoon just before they closed. Despite showing up 5 minutes to closing, they were patient as I did a quick test ride, picked out accessories, and had them installed. We chatted about tips & tricks as this is our first e-bike. I have been to this bike shop at least 5 times in the last month to get parts or work done on the new bike Im building and these guys are always super friendly and very helpful. They didnt have one part in stock that I needed and they got the part in just a few days and set up my brakes perfectly! Almost perfect- work order # 9372Brought my bike in for a tune up and new rear tire. Ben was professional, knowledgeable and easy to work with. Bike was ready on time as promised however 8th gear is still slipping. I mentioned this at drop off and got the reply, no problem “we check that out during the tuneup”. Everything was clean and nice and I’m sure if I brought it back they would fix it but it’s a pain to haul it in. No big deal but it would have been nice to have that fixed.

Thee 1st time I went in, they fixed minor issue with a disc brake, and they didnt charge me for it! Since then, Ive been coming back and got my girlfriend to buy a bike from them recently.

I went in to get a flat tire fixed. The employees were friendly, knowledgeable, and fast. The guy who fixed my bike was more than willing to show me how to fix a flat in the future, and recommend tubing types that may work better or my style of mountain biking if the issue continues. He also gave me a discount on a pair of socks simply because I asked for one. Great shop.

I came to El Camino after another local bike shop forgot to order my parts. I picked up my bike from that particular shop and called 5 other shops in North County looking for the correct part. I finally got a hold of El Camino and they confirmed that they had the part in stock and told me to stop by. My bike was fixed up within a few hours after dropping it off. What a great experience.

Thank you Will and El Camino Bike Shop team! Several weeks ago, I bought bike shoes, pedals, and cleats from El Camino Bike for my road bike, to replace my old worn out ones. They didnt carry the brand I was replacing, so I went with a different brand, and had a difficult time getting used to them. I ended up buying the same brand I had before on Amazon, and took them in to El Camino Bike today along with my bike. They let me return the pedals and cleats I had purchased from them, ( I kept the shoes), and refunded the cost. They installed the pedals and cleats I had purchased on Amazon for free, let me put my bike on their trainer to practice clipping in and out, and get comfortable riding around their parking lot before I left. They were friendly, kind, and very patient. I have shopped there before, and would highly recommend them!

Extremely well stocked bicycle shop with plenty of bicycles and they are doing a great job falling behind the emerging market for electric assist bikes. But for the needs of people looking for quality FOLDING RECUMBENT TADPOLE TRIKES, they are completely out of the game. I had a very mixed experience. One individual up front rebuffed me straight away and was assuming incorrect information about my visit. Another much more agreeable employee came to my rescue and helped me out admirably. He allowed me to explain to him what an X - seam was and to show him the information about it on their own company website. He quickly assisted me in doing what was necessary to measure mine at 43 inches. He could see one model on their company website had a boom range too small. I thanked him for his assistance and he thanked me for teaching him something entirely new about the industry. He was helpful and considerate in every way and I left in time for him to tend to the needs of another customer just arriving and interested in an electric bike.

This place is okay. Bipolar customer service. They were super nice when I dropped off the bike. Said they would call when it was ready the following day. Never received a call or voicemail. I called to follow up an hour before closing the next day. The guy who answered acted like I did something wrong. Said he called the day I dropped it off and it went straight to voicemail. He never left a voicemail, never tried to call again the next day. Was super rude. Just poor customer service. Never going back.

I broke a spoke the day after Thanksgiving. This is one of few bike shops open on Black Friday. They were abe to get me the spoke, a spoke wrench, the tool to remove my sprocket hub and loosened the sprocket hub i(so I could put the spoke on) in no time at all, and better then expected pricing. We returned a bike that was purchased from El Camino as a gift and decided to get another one which was exactly the same price. Turns out the new one had brakes that were $120 cheaper than the one we returned. We were told we would get that amount credited back when we picked up new bike. But on that day owner Will wanted to look into it more. We have not heard from him since nor has he returned phone calls. Got ripped off for $120.

The owner (I can only assume he was the owner because anyone else would have been fired) was the rudest man I have ever encountered. The girl behind the counter was a sweetheart, but nothing offsets that kind of treatment by a customer. I also noticed that his prices were about 10% higher than most places I have been. No Thanks.

I had my Trek bike for over a decade when the frame cracked. I purchased it at ECBS and, over the years, have found them very reliable and fair. I shopped their website for a replacement and brought my damaged bike in to the shop to have my add-on parts moved to a new bike. The Mgr stated that Trek frames have a lifetime warranty and he determined that Trek would replace the entire bike free-of-charge, taking full responsibility for the frame failure. Thanks to ECBS and Trek for outstanding customer service!

I have done business with EC Bike Shop for a long time. I took my Cannondale ( classic no it is not a carbon $3000 bike in for tires) I have had my Trek mountain bike worked on by them. The young kid in there put on a spoke for me and when I put the new tires on the intertube blew and when I came back they immediatly thought I pinched the tube, but that was not the case. I put another tube in it, and it blew. So I took off the tire and found the spoke sticking 1/8th of inch through the protective liner so it was a no brainer. Mike told me to bring in the bike on a Monday. The young kid said can I get you your bike back on Friday? I am putting together bikes. So sales are up and customer service is down. I said no, I am going for a ride tomorrow and they did not give me a tube. When the kid said he did not remember this bike, I should have said, go look in your database I told the kid you have lost my business. IF I had crashed because of that spoke, trust me...you would have remembered me.John in Encinitas

Is ECBS still a family-bike-shop ? (as ECBS was quoted to be -- via the original brothers whom I known it from ownership that I can recall. As these shown personnel on Facebook, I never saw in my times.): ECBS looks to be a bike shop, in that the owner having an additional occupation -- as an attorney. Or related a legal source.As there be said, by google of being 2 owners.When I choose business of (those who own/work in) a bikeshop, its ONLY for the industry/business of bike, service, and/or merchandise.
