Went for an appointment with Dr. Besser. Hadnt seen him in several months. It was fantastic to see all staff wearing masks considering COVID, RSV and FLU cases are on an uptick. Sheila was amazing, easy to speak with and she had a good sense of humor. The actual wait to see the physician was minimal. Dr. Besser was warm and easy to chat with in general. Looking forward to the next visit.

Long wait time (close to 2hr) yet the doctor was so rushed when he was seeing me. The experience was unprofessional. He kept suggesting the procedure that he already did to me (and was ineffective). I had to remind him that it has been done before by him. Waste of time and I wished I went to see a different specialist.

Wonderful doctor’s office and doctor. Very thorough. Bonus: they immediately requested approval for a procedure that needed to be done after my first appointment. I saw him again within a week. I didn’t have to do anything before my 2nd appointment other than make it and I don’t have “good” insurance where that’s how it usually works. Highly recommend. After looking in to it because they made it so easy, I learned hey take all insurance including Medi-Cal.

I had to wait 28 minutes after my scheduled appointment to be called in, why do you schedule people at certain times and make them wait, too long? I never had this experience years before today! I was always called right at the time of my schedule. There are side effects like losing your ride.

Amazing Services! First time patients be aware that all the exams that they perform on you it takes one and half to two hours, they don’t mention that for you unless you ask over the phone before you go there. Otherwise Dr. Besser is very kind and knowledgeable explaining in technical details whatever question do you have for him. Initially was amazed to have found this specialist office. The treatment was 90% positive for my dad. Hes still experiencing some discomfort and was brushed off when we went in. Has gotten better since last appointment. Overall we WERE satisfied with the service and attention provided. Given the positive experience, I decided to take my mom there as well.Bad, bad, bad experience with front desk. From beginning to end (which wasnt much since we never got to see Dr. Besser again).Initial appointment was canceled the day of with few hrs of notice. When called to rescheduled, it took days to get someone. When i did, the wait was over 20 mins of hold. the manager Christine, I believe was extremely and unpleasantly rude.Finally, after many calls and hours of hold I was told that the dr was overbooked since they are receiving many new patients. And now require additional paperwork. However, I wasnt informed at the initial appointment and all of a sudden their policy changed. Big baloney.They got too money hungry and too big for themselves and are not able to keep up with patients appointments.Ill say Martha tried her best to inform me. She tried to be professional and polite, which I greatly appreciate since she knew it was doodoo what theyre doing. Just the way customer service should be. But manager and other staff- flat out rude.I got different info from front office, manager, Martha and final e-mail that was sent to me.Big disappointment!

I went in to see Dr. Besser at the recommendation of the office by my neighbor who had seen his colleague for glaucoma-related concerns (Dr. Besser focusing on the general ophthalmology). Before I met with Dr. Besser, his staff members Julia and Rob, who were wonderful, were very thorough in getting the details of my story and taking my measurements and giving me the initial eye tests. Julia was kind enough to talk to me for an amazing length of time about all manner of concerns I had at the time.When Dr. Besser came in to see me, he had looked at me for maybe five seconds when he literally picked up on a minor hand condition I had involving blood vessel constriction, which I thought was remarkable. He looked my eyes over, gave me a diagnosis he was fairly certain about, explained it in detail and also really put me at ease by having a relaxed but lengthy conversation with me about everything. I found him to be incredibly kind and knowledgeable. For my first experience with his care, I thought it was pretty fantastic, and in two subsequent appointments since, its been the same. I would definitely recommend Dr. Besser and his kind staff to anyone in need of a general eye doctor.

I read the reviews and decided to schedule with Dr. Besser. I do not regret it. After scheduling my appointment, I was told to complete the new patients forms prior to coming in. It was easy, simple and fast. When I came in, the front desk staff was very welcoming, and already had my information so it made the check-in really smooth and fast. I recently had Dr. Besser at the Los Angeles Eye Institute perform refractive lens surgery in both eyes and could not be happier with the result. I am in my early 50s and was tired of wearing reading glasses and decided to look into this surgery. Dr. Besser and his helpful team—including Christine, the Practice Administrator, Sonia, the surgery coordinator, their front desk staff and technicians – could not have been more wonderful and supportive. They explained the whole process, the surgery was very fast, the recovery was painless, and the results could not have been better. I went from contacts and reading glasses to 20-15 vision, better than 20-20!!! I would highly recommend this surgery if you are tired of wearing reading glasses and/or contacts and I would not consider anyone other than Dr. Besser and his team to perform this surgery, he is really the expert in Los Angeles on this life-changing surgery—I feel 20 years younger just being able to see without glasses or contacts!!

I usually like to check reviews for doctors, restaurants or any other services we might be using... When it comes to Angeles Eye Institute, I also check the doctors individual reviews on Google etc. I could not be happier with Dr. Besser. Too often, people are quick to write negative reviews because they experienced something they personally did not like. Dr. Besser has great reviews on many of the available medical review sites as well as google. My visits with him were great and had no complaints. I asked questions and he replied. I had more questions, and he replied. Decided to have refractive lense exchange surgery with Dr. Besser and happy to say, after wearing contact lenses, glasses and reading glasses for 34 years, I am now FREE from all of those! My vision is great near and far, no glasses needed. The procedure was so fast and simple I wonder why I waited so long. So if you have any vision concerns or issues, you should definitely contact Dr. Besser and his staff. 5 STARS ALL AROUND!

I was referred by my general ophthalmologist to Dr. Besser for a severe cataract surgery. I have suffered my whole life from severe macular and retinal degeneration. This procedure is very risky for someone with the severe condition of my cornea.My vision was 20/300 and getting progressively worse. I’m a young 50 years of age and I needed a delicate surgery to ensure my having good vision for the rest of my life. I am eternally grateful for Dr. Besser for his knowledge and skills. He was professional and amazing. He and his office helped me through an emotional time during such a risky procedure. My vision is now 20/20 and I can see clearly for the first time in my life. I no longer need corrective lenses and I see in HD compared to the dim and blurry vision I lived with for 50 years. Thanks Dr. Besser and staff for bringing so much crystal clear beauty to my life. I highly recommend this office. I went to them for an exam and they were able to diagnose that I had narrow angle’s in both eyes and needed laser surgery to prevent me from eventually going completely blind! Every other eye doctor completely missed it and said the back of my eyes were just fine, had I not gone to see Dr Besser it wouldn’t of been found and there is a good chance I would of lost my sight completely and had that happened it wouldn’t of been reversible and I would of been left to live out the rest of my life in total darkness, not capable of getting to see the beautiful faces of my grandsons as they grow and as an artist never able to do the thing I love most or appreciate the beauty of the world. Not only was he extremely knowledgeable but the surgeries on both eyes were 1000 times easier than I had feared. It hardly hurt at all as he was very gentle and it went quick. I had a very positive experience at Dr Bessers office. All of the staff was professional, and followed good COVID-19 protocols so that I felt safe and comfortable. I had an excellent experience with the optician Sasha, who was patient, thorough, and also had an excellent sense of humor. I can’t speak highly enough about Dr Besser and his team. They are incredibly professional and super friendly. I saw a couple of surgeons before choosing Dr Besser. He is a highly regarded surgeon who teaches at the Jules Stein Eye Institute - UCLA. The pro bono work he does in the community also made an impression on me - it speaks to his kindness. Prior to my surgery Dr Besser spent time explaining the entire procedure to make sure I understood every stage. The surgeries went well and he saw me for multiple follow-ups. Recently, I had an issue while traveling and Dr Besser responded immediately, then saw me as soon as I returned - staying late on a holiday weekend. It’s clear he really cares about his patients. I feel really lucky to have found him. Also of note is the staff, great technicians, and very helpful surgical coordinator. Sonia was very responsive and really knows her stuff. I feel in very good hands.My last appointment there was an equipment problem beyond their control, and they had to send me home, but worked hard to accommodate a reschedule later the day after the problem was resolved.His scheduler, Sonia C is extremely available and helpful in answering all insurance questions and went beyond the call of duty in helping me to assess my coverage.ADDENDUM 6 weeks later after second eye was done: Same great thorough care. In fact my preparation for the second eye was complex on my part because I had serious concerns about how I would visually process monovision. Dr. Besser was very patient and forthcoming with expertise and guidance as I wore a wide array on contact lenses in the run-up to the second eye surgery so I could be absolutely sure of the level of correction,. Im now four days out from that surgery and very happy with the results and the care so far.

Made an appointment for a full eye exam, showed up and found waiting room partitioned and door open but roped off due to covid. Had to wait in the hallway for 5 minutes before someone came out to find out who I was and what time was my appointment to see Dr. Besser. Waited 5 minutes and taken into treatment room where I spoke with an assistant who asked why I was there (routine eye exam). Apparently the Dr. only checks for medical irregularities and does not confirm if I need new glasses or not. I have always had my vision checked during my eye exams and been given a prescription for corrective lenses. Apparently that is no longer the norm, but I was never informed of this. I left Dr. Bessers office without seeing the Dr or having my eyes checked. Very disappointed and a waste of my time as well as the Dr. time.

While everyone in the office is very nice, I found that this office is a little too focused on just getting you booked in to do Lasik vs. really find out what is going on and giving clear communication about how it all works.Ex. First visit was booked as a consult. Was not given instructions that the consult could be 2 hours and that I would be getting drops in my eyes that would stop me from potentially going back to work after and seeing my computer.Another example: I am near sited and wanted NO assistance with my near site. It was perfect. no glasses. Dr. never discussed what I was wanting from lasik and now have great far vision but my near vision is blurry and NOW have to user readers. NEVER wore glasses or readers prior to surgery. At the follow up meeting Dr. said Oh we should have done a mono procedure. I had no clue of the options.I believe this is because they are more focused on booking the surgery vs. actually knowing what you want. Thats my bad as well as I should have expressed this clearly.But I got referred from my eye dr who told me I was a good candidate.lesson learned you need to always be your own advocate but I do believe that it also on Dr. Besser and staff to help their patients understand what they are getting into by fully explaining and asking questions.
