What can I say besides wow! This dive shop is everything you want and need in regards to scuba and most importantly safety. I came into the shop looking for new gear as I was planning a very intense dive trip. Jason took the time and helped me out with picking the right equipment for me. He answered all my questions, took the time to understand my dive level and helped me get everything I wanted at the budget I gave him. Never did he try to sell me anything or push expensive items on to me. I priced checked all the things online just to compare and their prices were not only fair but they beat most other dive shops and Amazon on almost everything. He asked me about the trip I was planning on going on and explained that it may not be all I had hoped for and actually saved me from spending thousands of dollars on something I may not have really enjoyed. After working with him on close to two hours I met the shop owner Beth who was super sweet and she told me about their own dive trip to Fiji. I didn’t hesitate and signed up for the trip because I knew if these were the people leading the dive trip I was definitely in good hands. Now I have all my gear and an awesome trip planned for August. Thank you Jason and Beth for caring about your customers and give the best service.

Decided to make a trip back to Eco Dive Center after nearly a five years diving hiatus (life gets in the way sometimes). I had originally purchased all my gear from Eco Dive Center during my time at UCLA, where Jake had set me up with all the essentials for being an AAUS Scientific Diver. I recently lost all my gear in a fire, and was a bit discouraged having to buy everything over again.I returned today to be greeted by Jake (yet again) and also had the absolute pleasure of meeting Jason and Ron. I explained my situation, and they proceeded to take excellent care of me. During the three hours I spent here today, the staff walked me through every single wetsuit, BC, regulator, dive computer, fin, and accessory they had in inventory. They even showed me several items that they did not have in stock, but were more than happy to special order for me.These guys do not beat-around-the-bush, they are extremely honest and give their expert opinion on every single item they have in stock. They do not sell gear that they would not use or recommend personally. Yes, admittedly SCUBA gear is expensive, but after all, so is anything good in life. Im sure you could always buy some junk off the internet that will wear out after a few dives, but why waste your time trying to pinch pennies? Come support your local dive shop and get outfitted with what you really need. (FYI - The sign on the front door informs all customers that they will also beat any online advertised price from their competitors).The staff DO NOT try to up-sell you or give you anything you do not truly need. They have both new and used items for every budget from beginner to dive master. Did I mention this place is a full-service dive shop? They have EVERYTHING a recreational or working diver could ever want, need, or dream of.I walked out with everything I needed to get back in the water. It feels great knowing I got all my gear for a great deal, and I really appreciate the high level of customer service I received today. I will most definitely be back again for all my SCUBA diving needs.Thanks again Eco Dive Center, you guys are awesome!

Everyone at the shop is extremely knowledgable and passionate about diving. They bend over backwards to help you and provide you with good deals. I took the open water course with Jake, and I had an amazing experience. He is an excellent instructor, and made the class very enjoyable. Highly recommend this shop and their courses!

Recently finished my first open water certification course and have nothing but great things to say about the experience. The shop staff were incredibly helpful in getting us set up with all our gear. Huge shoutout to Jake Sofer for being an amazing instructor. He did a fantastic job instructing our group ensuring we all grasped the concepts and felt comfortable throughout. I took the Open Water Certification course with Jake Sofer and it was incredible! The staff is really friendly and Jake did such a good job instructing and teaching the necessary skills for open water certification. The shop has everything you need for gear and all the staff are very knowledgeable and accommodating. It was an amazing experience being able to do my first dive in Catalina and then Anacapa island, which wouldve been intimidating if it hadnt been for a knowledgeable and experienced instructor like Jake!

If youve ever dreamed of exploring the ocean, Eco Dive Center in Culver City is your perfect starting point. Ive lived at the beach for decades and felt it was time to explore more than whats on land.Theyre conveniently located and offer a fantastic introduction to scuba diving. A great dive shop, so helpful, a great selection, found three things I needed. Reasonably priced. Like everyone in the area, dive shops have been closing non-stop and so to find one that is professional, with terrific gear made me so happy!! I really needed help and they gave it in a very relaxed, no-pressure way. One of the best shopping experiences at a dive shop ever!!! Id go back in a heartbeat!

Ron is hands down the absolute best instructor!!! He only teaches once in a blue moon - but fear not eco dive centeris filled with a lot of educated amazing instructors! Jason is on the top of that list!!!!! If youve ever wanted to learn how to scuba I could not recommend this place more - one stop shop (rentals, purchases, classes, events) and filled with knowledgeable staff and instructors! 1st weekend dive was in Casino Point, 2nd out of Ventura! Did our scuba certification with Daniel in November, and had an excellent time! HIGHLY recommend him as an instructor - we were complete novices going in and left super comfortable with scuba diving.Note - you need to book your open water certification about a month in advance and it takes 2 weekends (Saturdays end around 3-4PM and Sundays are a FULL day). You need to complete some e-learning courses ahead of time, it takes a few hours and is best to do the week of your certification so that its fresh in your mind.

Eco Dive Center is fantastic in all regards. The staff is incredibly friendly and very willing to help customers, whether they are beginners or experienced divers. Additionally, their store has a good inventory selection and great pricing!I took my Open Water Certification course through Eco Dive Center and had an amazing experience. The instructors presented themselves as both fun and professional and really helped make the course memorable. The boat trips and certification dives out to Catalina turned out to be the highlight of my year! I came in because I had a leak in one of my regulator hoses and wanted to locate where it was. I knew I would likely have to replace the one with the leak and was fully prepared to buy another. Two staff members were able to help me quickly locate the leak in my hp hose. Then, to my surprise, they replaced my leaky hose with a used one in good condition at no additional charge!I have gone to this dive shop multiple times for gear service and other diving needs, and I am always astounded by how friendly, efficient and willing to help the staff is. This is definitely the one-stop shop for all of your diving needs!

My wife and I were signed up to take the confined water course. Two weeks before the course, my wife experienced a medical issue with her ear that ended her SCUBA career before it started. The folks at ECO were very understanding and refunded 80% of our money. I dont recall the exact terms of the payment, but I think thats more than they were obligated to refund, and I really appreciated it.

I dont love writing reviews but felt I needed to for how awesome of an experience I had! I had to do a redo as I had trouble in the pool on my first training for Scuba Diver Cert. I was super encouraged by John even though I had failed, to try again. Rescheduling was made easy by the dive shop and they worked something out that was super fair for me. Every time I went in, Tyler and Will were always SO helpful.For my redo, I was lucky to be placed with the amazing instructor Pat. He was super calm, patient, knowledgable, funny and took time with everyone on whatever we were struggling with. He made something that was hard for me before SO easy. We had tough conditions getting out of the water on our first dive and all instructors put their heads together quickly and got us out safely-I was so impressed by their team effort! I had the best first ocean dive I could hope for. Anything in my future that is scuba related will bring me back to Eco Dive Center.Thank you all!

My 2 kids just certified at Eco Dive center. The staff in store helped us fit gear. They even lent us a mask that fit better after the first weekend. Both our instructors were awesome, kind, knowledgeable and caring people . I couldn’t have asked for a better experience for my 11 year old and their adult sister.

I highly recommend this dive center if you’re interested in getting your open-water certification. Also, if you’re lucky enough to have Jon Markowitz as your instructor then you’ll be on the best track. I started my journey as a scuba diver here. Kerry N. was my instructor, and I highly recommend her. She is a skilled, thorough teacher who ensures (including taking extra time one on one) that you know the skills you need, not just to pass the class but to actually use them. She has high standards for herself and those around her-I never doubted my safety or my skills because of her.

Absolutely unprofessional and incompetent crew. Do not buy gear from here. They screwed up my shipping address even after I called and explained myself, and had it correctly filled out in my order. They sent $2000 worth of equipment 1000 miles away from where I needed it. They are extremely slow to respond to emails. Had to sort out getting my order by myself. The only saving grace here is Beth. She has wonderful customer service skills and is incredibly helpful and thorough. Unfortunately, she could do much better at any other dive shop. Will never be doing business, or recommending business with dive center again.

She masterfully handled our group of 8+ novice divers both in the pool and in the open water.We had a safe, fun and exciting experience. With Beth it was 10/10! Great place- I was headed out on a trip to French Polynesia, and purchased my own mask, fins and snorkel, so glad I did that. Nothing like having awesome perfectly fitting equipment when you’re really snorkeling in pristine areas. The guy at the front desk (forget his name) was incredibly helpful, helped me try on multiple masks, until I found the one that really fit, he gave me a discount, and a bag to throw all my gear in, and really set me up, and even burned off the coating on my lens to prevent fogging. While I am only a snorkeler, and am not a scuba diver, I would say their selection, customer service, and value was great, thank you guys so much!

Very friendly staff that are willing and helpful with questions through the process of booking and taking a course.I was unable to complete my dives on first attempt (COVID couple of weeks before course) and they were super helpful and flexible in getting the course completed at a later date a few months later.While completing the course on second attempt, instructor was Stephane, who was just amazing. Friendly, easy going and the course was in no way stressful. The dives were interesting and fun, while getting the skills we needed to done. We had weather preventing second day dives, which was a huge pain being that I had traveled in to do the course. Stephane kept flexible on getting 2nd day done, communicated with us well, and got a 2nd day arranged for later in the week to complete. Went over to Catalina, and did some awesome dives and such a fun day. Such a great instructor.

Wasn’t sure what dive shop to pick, but am glad I wound up at Eco Dive Shop! All the instructors I’ve worked with - Beth, Ron, Jason, Bryant, Steve, and Kerry - have been kind and patient with me as I’ve been taking deeper and deeper steps into ocean diving skills. Plus Beth, Jason, and the others are so helpful at the shop. There’s nothing like going underwater, and there’s nothing like doing so with teachers who are trustworthy and safe. Recommended :)

I got all of my gear and certs through Eco Dive Center and would do it all again here anytime. They have the best instructors and really help you get what you need no matter your budget as far as equipment. I’ve felt like a confident diver since my open water cert and am now working towards my Dive Master since starting scuba a little over a year ago. Shout out to Char for instructing and Jason for gear knowledge. Can’t beat the boat ticket prices either! $159 for three dives, two meals, world class dive sites, and great crews.

I was given a gift certificate to complete my Open Water certification, and I had a wonderful experience. Jason Karten was my instructor and he was fantastic. I have taken most of my diving courses at this shop, the instructors are all passionate, knowledgeable, fun, and attentive to the students’ needs. There is a vibrant energy in the shop that is unrivaled and they have numerous boat trips and liveaboards organized all around the world where you will make lifetime friends and have the most memorable diving experiences. The owners are lovely and go above and beyond to give you a good experience and will always make sure you’re satisfied. The social events that take place at the shop are a great way to meet your new diving buddy while having a great time with other divers and the shop is located at a prime location across from a few fun bars and restaurants where you’ll get to celebrate your certification with you fellow divers. Eco Dive Center is my go-to dive shop. I started with my open water certification with them and was so impressed by their staff and amazing customer service that I was inspired to take a dive trip to Cozumel where I completed my advanced certification. Why stop there?! I certified as a rescue diver and most recently took a dry suit very with Richie who was so calm, patient and informative- I highly recommend him as an instructor. You won’t be disappointed with any instructor or anyone you interface with at Eco. I especially feel good about spending my money with the husband/wife duo who own this fantastic business.

Did my open water certification here. After 10 hrs of online learning, I worked with two instructors, Fred and Michael, over two weekends to finish certification. Both were very knowledgeable and helped me address my issues with equalization. Fred was full of life and verve - his passion and love for diving was infectious. Michael was so patient and an emotional rock whenever situations got stressful. I did beach entry with him and it did get stressful so I was so grateful for his patience and experience in that situation. I found the overall environment friendly and approachable for newbies.While I don’t think I’ll dive in CA again for awhile (kelp and visibility are a bit intense for beginners), I’d recommend their classes anytime. I got my basic gear - snorkel, fins, boots, gloves - all great quality and Jason helped me to replace my mask and snorkel at a discount after it got lost in a messy exit from the beach dive. Thank you!!Do be aware that logistics here require a good amount of going back and forth with the shop so try to have a flexible schedule and something to roll stuff with!!

This shop is great. Got certified through them. Stephane Fiorenza is the BEST!!!!! Felt extremely comfortable in the water with him as my instructor. When I stopped by the dive center I was greeted by Jason. He was very knowledgeable regarding the equipment and the different brands. When we talked about the different dive boats and trips he was very helpful with getting 1 booked. ECO is a great dive center! Every time I have contacted them about gear, classes, or prices, they are really straightforward and transparent and I appreciate that very much. They don’t quote you a smaller price and then add this and that to double it… they tell you exactly what something is and that is the way it should be.My friends and I jumped on a boat last minute with ECO dive center and the salty divers this weekend to Anacapa island. My snorkel kept on falling out of the Mask strap, and I also needed a spare snorkel just in case I lose mine in the water. I bought a nice little snorkel for $15 here, and the guy who was helping me here let me have a little plastic double ring for free. He said that the double ring is for use on another snorkel so that I can strap the snorkel to the maskPreviously, I have also bought a yoke - din converter here. I can’t recommend this place enough! Got open water certified here years ago and it was a great experience. Came back recently to buy some gear/courses and Char hooked me up with some great deals. They always seem to have some amazing sales going on.I just did my rescue cert this past weekend with Tim Yeo as my instructor. Wow, this man is passionate about diving and makes the course a lot of fun while also seriously ingraining important lessons into his students. My daughter and I found this shop when looking where to get certified, they came highly recommended by our family doctor, whos an old school diver. First off the staff at the shop was very friendly and knowledgable. Everyone here is chill and you can tell they love what they do. Our instructors were patient and knowledgable. They answered all our questions and went over things thoroughly. They know how to keep a group calm which kept us all calm. The experience was memorable and straight up Disney magic. A very sad disappointing experience. Had to leave in frustration and wound up at another shop where we left a few hundred dollars each While we were there we told our sad story of having to leave our closest shop and drive further to find the help we needed as newbies. While at the other shop, the experience was so good we bought more than we planned by buying rash guards we might have otherwise looked for on amazon. I found the owner and told her how pleased I was with the experience especially as I had worked many years in a ski shop which is a similar type of specialty sales. The client she was helping leans and and says, Are you talking about Eco? I was just there and Ill never go there again.To the owner if you read these: Guess where Ill go when its time for a wetsuit or certification? Train your employees: first you sell the business, then you HELP lead the clueless newbies to the right gear, then you close the sale easy-peasy and they leave thinking, THIS is my dive shop.

I have gotten my advance certification here and will be going to Catalina Island tomorrow to complete my Rescue Diver certification. I cant tell you how informative, patient, encouraging, and fun this team is. Oleg is my Rescue instructor and definitely my favorite dive teacher. Zack was my teacher in the past and also very good. Jake and Jason in the dive shop have a special talent pointing you in the right direction that fits your needs. They have a great dive community and shop that makes you feel like your on vacation. My boyfriend and I love this dive shop! The staff are always really friendly, helpful and knowledgeable! Jake and Jason have helped us not only be fitted with the right gear, but also helped us get really good deals!We are relatively new divers and naturally have had lots of questions about gear suggestions, dive procedures, and best dive spots. Jake and Jason always offer no BS advice and always work with you to make sure you not o my understand what to do, but WHY it’s important.We recently did our Advanced Open Water with Andrea Van Epps and she was fantastic! She offered a lot of great tips and was really encouraging and patient. I have been experiencing some issues equalizing and was really nervous about my descents but she was sure to take it easy and supportive. She also went in depth covering topics and explaining the rationale behind what was covered in the course.We’re happy to have finally found a dive shop that genuinely cares about its patrons and works with you to fit you with the right instructor, course and gear!

Ive been to a few different dive shops around LA and this one is the best. Will be going there for all my dive needs even though its far from my house. The staff is very helpful, friendly and easy to talk to. Im getting back into diving after 15 years and I didnt feel out of place not being an expert. At some other shops I felt like an idiot. They really helped match me with the gear I was looking for and didnt try to upsell me on gear more expensive than I needed. Ive been to many dive shops in the LA area, and Eco Dive is my go-to, even though there are several closer to me. A big factor of that are the incredible staff, big shoutout to Jason Karten. Ive done classes including rescue and have more coming up. Hes been super available, always gives a heads up for ongoing promos or opportunities to be involved in local diving communities, and knowledgeable to answer questions whether about diving or even things like IDing aquatic life. Treats you like a local dive shop even if you are an online customer.I placed an online order for a few things including some rock boots for a dry suit. About ten minutes after placing the order I get a call from Jason(not an email, not a few days later, blew my mind how quick and personal.the service was). He says unfortunately a few things I ordered were out of stock, we had a great conversation about alternate items, items he recommended from his experience diving those items, and that were cheaper than what I had ordered. Then back to the rock boots, he was interested in my reasoning for choosing what I did. I laid out what I was looking for. He then gave me the pros and cons of the ones I had gone with, then laid out the pros and cons of another that he had in stock, and man I am glad he did. I enjoyed an incredible trip to Fiji with Eco and Blue Water Travel. We dove with sharks, swam with sea turtles, saw some incredible reefs, and the food and company were excellent.One person who was key in making the trip fun and successful was our trip leader, Char. We encountered some bumps during the trip and Char was able to smooth these out each time. She really went above and beyond. I wouldnt hesitate to take another trip where Char is the trip leader.

I signed up on one of the boat trips with Eco divers, so I cant say much about the certification classes except for what I observed while on the boat. One good thing I noticed was that the Advanced students were encouraged to use DSMBs and to practice with them, which is a good skill to have in those conditions.That said, there were a few things that just didnt sit right with me about my experience. There were maybe twice as many students as regular divers on the boat, so the sites catered the conditions to the students. It would have been nice to know before booking the trip that it would be the case. Many of the students had poor boat etiquette (taking tank spots that other divers had previously set their tanks at, leaving gear everywhere, getting in the way of divers trying to get into the water, etc). It would have been nice of the instructors to encourage the students to be more considerate. One of the shop instructors was rude for most of the morning, and no one from the shop bothered to introduce themselves to anyone who wasnt already in a class. When we asked for a site orientation, we were pointed towards the shore and told to head that direction to see stuff. It just felt like I was a nuisance to the shop and the attitude was a complete turn off. For reference, I had been on a trip the day before and the experience couldnt have been more opposite. Im not asking anyone to kiss the ground I walk on, it just wasnt a good vibe from the shop at all and I would rather spend my money somewhere else.

My husband and I had a terrific experience at Eco Dive. We took our gear in to get serviced. After the owner looked over our gear, he suggested that it was time for an update. Our equipment was serviceable but it wasnt worth the cost and this we knew because of the way the equipment performed in recent dives. He offered us a great deal for two regulators and console setups. He also fixed my husbands BCD that had a broken inflator at a very minimal. We left the store feeling very satisfied with purchase. I had a fantastic experience completing the PADI Open Water Certification course at Eco Dive Center. Our instructor, Sara Strickland, is one of the very best teachers Ive ever had in my life. My son & I were recently certified for open water diving by Eco Dive Instructor Ben Hofileña. Ben is the perfect instructor. He is knowledgeable, takes the time to ensure you have complete understanding of the lessons being taught and has a great sense of humor.He spent two full weekends with us, keeping us moving forward through the certification process and keeping everyone engaged with his teaching style. Ben communicated with all the students prior to classes, between classes and has continued to provide dive information after our certification. He loves diving and the opportunity to teach others. He will contact you a couple of days in advance to ensure you know what to expect, what paperwork is needed, what gear you will need and even provide links to useful video links to assist in completing the course.The Eco Dive certification took place over two consecutive weekends. Saturdays were spent reviewing materials, taking quizzes and pool training. On our Sunday open water dives, we went to Anacapa Island and Catalina Island -- both were amazing. Bens instructions at the dive site included review of the skills we are going to work on, what type of sea life to expect plus the history of the site. On our last dive before certification, Ben used his good karma and we had the unexpected treat of having two giant sea bass swim right past us.If you are looking at certifying through Eco Dive, I would highly recommend Ben Hofileña

I purchased a scuba pro mask. the lenses coloring scratched off with the my local dive centers defogger. since the defogger acted as a scrub, scubapro would not replace the mask. i sent them back to be replaced. the owner of ecodivecenter said it was not a problem and still replaced the mask.great customer service, they will get my business for sure.instead their plan of action was to ignore me and hope that i went away.most reviews online are full of people who either love or hate the product/service.but i am here to tell you stay away from ecodive center because they do not care about the customer.

This is the best place to go for diving trips, equipment, and to meet other divers. Here is my experience for getting the open water certification. I was greeted with a bright smile and a happy hi when walking into Eco Dive Center - by Tessa :) and immediately felt like a part of a great diving family. She talked to me about what (diving of course) and why/why not (what can I say, Im not the biggest fan of having my head under water...) and everything in-between. Thx Tessa!Two days later I find myself at the beginning of the training, pool sessions with the best instructor in the world (Nick - ok I have not trained with other instructors, but the expertise, energy, and excitement Nick brings to a class makes for an amazing experience all around so Nicks shoes must be nearly impossible to fill :-) ) and a great group of people (buddy with Ed - thanks :) ) and even though I kept being reminded about Tacos from lunch (note: dont eat too much....lol...) and to put it mildly was pretty freaked out about having to remove a mask under water and what not - I was still happy and ready for the boat trip. We (Anna and I) drove together up to Ventura to spend the night on the boat (Peace) and get the gear all ready for an early start the next day. The Peace is pretty awesome, great beds, and after a good night, amazing breakfast (note: really...dont eat too much lol...) we are sailing of to Anacapa island.I could go on forever about these dives, but here are the highlights:- A female sheepshead kept following us around on one dive. She was soooo cute!- Nick made us kiss a seahare (maybe a small disguise for the regulator removal training, but funny....I did not know it was possible to laugh under water).- Swimming through the kelp forest is truly beyond amazing........- Getting through the training - which in retrospect was a breezzeee having a great team (thanx buddy Lauren) and with Nick making us extremely comfortable and safe in the water and still playing a bit and experiencing a small bit of his extraordinary knowledge under the water.- Ohh, the Peace crew, food, and hottub deserve top points. Steve, our dive master was the best and of course had control of all of us in and out of the water. Which ship never sinks? Steves!! :-) hahahahaWhat else can I say? It was a beyond exciting experience and I cannot wait to get back out there...get certified and experience more. I will update this post in a couple of weeks after my second weekend for certification and let you know how that went. To my group - have fun next weekend, I wish I was going with you.

Kind of pushy or unpleasant staff to be honest. and nothing “eco” about it as far as i could tell. no standard encouragement to divers to be careful about touching marine life, etc. or conservation/environmental info about the area. it seems like there’s always something about businesses that “sponsor” their listings.

After sending a couple of emails to ask for confirmation and receiving no response I called three times to ask if there were tanks and weights for the dive they assured me that everything was ready on board at the time of the dive to my surprise there were no weights and I had to borrow some of the participants weights but they were insufficient so I had to give up the two divesI had applied online on their form to have a dive buddy and that didnt work either, they even asked me if I wanted to do the dive alone, the crew on board didnt know anything about it.On an organizational level it was a disaster, the only positive note was the captain and the help on board.I am a DM and to date I have never had a situation like this happen to me, having done hundreds of dives, among other things I note in other reviews that the problems are more or less identical but it doesnt seem to me that there is the will to work in a professional manner Kind regards Fabrizio

2 day boat booked online.Inquiry by email as to whether I need to pick up the tank/weights or whether they are on the boat. No Answer. No tank on the boat... I only got into the water thanks to another diver who lent me a tank...Then we borrowed a tank for the second day, completely unfriendly staff who didnt care at all that the diving day was almost cancelled... no excuse, nothing...It also meant 2 hours of extra driving, I drove past about 200m away 2 days before...Thanks for nothing...Complete the waiver a total of 3 times as data will not be transferred...
