ECTLC has brought my family back together. My husband and my self have a blended family with 10 kids. The staff has been a great help. When no other program would help ECTLC never turned their back on use. Services ECTLC offer has truly changed our lifes. This program is doing the Gods work.

Huge waste of time and gas. Rude and not helpful for people who need the help. They could have just said been forthright on the phone rather than waste peoples valuable time and resources, especially those in need of important necessities like safe shelter. Terribly disrespectful staff. Bunch of druggies and scumbags, running the place, living there and working for them (mandatory free labor). Reminiscent of a Consensual Prison. Another Non-Profit taking advantage of people for Profit and misdirected funding of Resources that should be used to help Homeless People in need, they dont care but are abusing Funding that should be better used to fight the Homelessness Crisis plaguing San Diego now. They just want to make people with addiction problems give them free labor while they collect Government/State/City Grants and local Donations. Find somewhere else unless you are looking to catch Hepatitis from a junkie, get valuables stolen from or maybe even assaulted! There are better, safer organizations who will provide real assistance elsewhere, keep looking for the good ones ran by good people - Good Luck!

ECTLC took me out of the darkness and brought me to the Light. It is a true blessing to be here. Learning the Word of God and building a relationship with Him, open your eyes, to true love and a beautiful life. All the pastors here are so awesome. I appreciate the pastors with all my heart. Wonderful Sunday service 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. If you want to change your life, ECTLC is the beginning of a new future. Jesus tells the truth.

Not a place you wanna be with your kids. Politics all over the place there . Conflict of interest all day long with the people who work there also live there . Can you spell favortism... Grateful they gave me a few weeks with shelter . Well actually I paid rent to live there but grateful. I would take my kids and honestly live on the streets then ever get involved with that place again . Sorry but the truth . And bullying from the kids whos parents work there and get away with anything. Give it some good thought before you put your kids and yourself thru that cult ....and to the donars, please please look into this place before donating anything to this place . My story there is quite real and if anyone would like to know what really goes on there and truthfulness about how me and my son and why we were kicked out of there put back on the streets like they do to many people I would love to explain. And the letter I wrote to director there explaining the negative in which the next day I was kicked out . As Julie refused to even talk with me at all about the situation. Never ever would I wish or recommend this place to no one or definitely couldnt imagine donating a penny to them. What ectlc does is 100% wrong and Im always 100% honest in every review . If youre willing to change and get your life in order and need support ECTLC is the place for you. GOD is moving in this place. Myself, husband and our two kiddos are here now.Its the best decision we ever made. Clean and Sober healthy, falling in love with GOD changing and living better life. The lady who explained to me to program parameters, no smoking and medicine to be mailed there. She pointed out that I have to attend all their Services including no cell phone for 6 months its horrible. And she was rude. Definitely not worth it. Right away it felt like imprisonment. I would miss my work that took two months to find and my school schedule. Before I could mentioned anything else she said good luck and hung up. Not good.

I praise God for ECTLC because I learned more than I anticipated there. My life was changed and my faith in Jesus has grown at the center. Its important to keep in mind that clinging to Christ will change you; external changes will not. The difficulties didnt stop me from getting closer to him, and my delight stayed unwavering. The foundation of ECTLC is godly, and God keeps his promises, however your experience depends on your dedication. Dont undervalue modest beginnings; God alone deserves all the honor.

Much has changed over the past year at ECTLC and I fear it’s not for the better. It appears as if the Lord is removing his Spirit from this place as all of the leadership who loved the Lord with all their heart, soul, and mind are slowly being pushed out by the new CEO to “cut costs” and high paid consultants (who don’t put God first) are brought in from the CEO’s personal for profit business. Since ECTLC is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, this doesn’t seem ethical. ECTLC was once known as a place where Jesus healed people, other Christian organizations were encouraged to volunteer, and no one was turned away due to a lack of funds. Now, it’s all about making money with psychology as the main solution and Christianity being used as a tool to try to keep current donors happy. Christian organizations are even discouraged from volunteering and are being asked to give money instead. I pray that I’m wrong about the Lord removing his Spirit from ECTLC, but time will tell and the truth shall come to light. If you’re looking for a solidly faith based Christian organization, you might want to pray hard about whether or not this place actually fits that bill. God bless you in your search for assistance!

Wasent a good experience from the cleanliness of roaches in the room, to the repeated urine tests as well. Felt wrongly profiled because of my physical appearance and antisocial behavior, also had bad experience with a individual staff who strongly dislikes children and is rude the majority of time. Also will separate families or put them on the streets if not married by your 28day stay, which contradicts their vision and goal. Not too Christian like at all in my personal opinion.

My Family has been battling HOUSElessness since I became a Single Parent. To say that I have both seen and experienced treachery and victimisation of the Underprivileged is an understatement. However, these people are downright Predators on those that are troubled or in crisis. One caseworker even started that when She was making referrals, this is the One place She refused to send People in need. My experience was that once the 28 Day emergency housing was up, and I would not promise them money I do not have, they had No problem locking My Minor Child and I out of the room We were in, forcing Us onto the streets and without Our belongings, knowing what We were going through trying to flee a DV Situation. DO NOT GO THERE!!! UNSAFE!!!!

Great church for those who want to turn their life around. For those who typically don’t enter a church, you’ll feel comfortable with kind and humble people.Forgiveness is at the forefront and the community of believers fully accept those who might be a little rough around the edges, you might say.They also provide resources of all kinds to those who are down and out and ready to get back on their feet.

Do not go to this place! They will take advantage of you and your vulnerability. My friend went here to see about housing due to homelessness. She gave them $300 cash and then decided that it wasn’t going to be a good fit for her and her children. She never spent one night there. She called the next day to let them know and they told her the case managers don’t work weekends. She followed up Monday to see about a refund. They advised her they would provide a refund since she never stayed and told her a check would come in the mail. After 14 days of waiting for a check, she followed up. They then tried to tell her they were not going to issue a refund even though she never stayed there and their refund policy doesn’t state that the money is non refundable in the event you leave voluntarily. She wasn’t kicked out or asked to leave since she never stayed not even one night . This place is a scam and should be ashamed of taking advantage of people who are already in a bind.

I praise God for ECTLC. I got WAAAAY MORE than I paid for. God did send me to this place. And, I grew in love with Jesus which, has turned my life around. If youre looking for something on the outside of you to change you, YOU WILL NOT find it. You have to cling to Christ. Dont put your eyes on man (people) because FACT: Man will fail you. Nt one person there EVER promised that it would be easy. But, I found the struggles and trials to be an amazing blessing in my life that drew me closer to the Cross. My joy was not circumstantial. It was in keeping my gaze on Him. Make no mistake, HE IS FAITHFUL to finish what He stated. God CANNOT lie. ECTLC is based on a Godly foundation. You will only get out of it what you put into your own spirit/heart check. Dont despise small beginnings. To God be the glory, honor and praise because ONLY HE deserves it.

I wouldnt wish this place on my worst enemy. The Pastor who runs the family side is ctooked. He kicked a man and his daughter out because they refused to disclose HIPAA info. Before they left the property he reported the dad for being homeless with a child, he was visited by a CPS worker that day, right before he left. Their are good families there just trying to survive, but they ignore the problem families who make trouble for the good families. As long as you can pay your 750 a month they dont care. Its not a shelter really, more like a low rent slum with rules. Worst example of a Christian facility I have ever experienced.

God sent me here. Its been one of the BEST BLESSINGS I have had in awhile. People come and go. Your blessings come with the choice(s)/decision(s) YOU make. The Pastors in charge always try to work with you. A prayer is said everyday for those that stay and those that leave the program. There are several chances given to those that decide to return to East County Transitional Living Center (ECTLC). You are blessed with Gods words, housing, food, clothing, and special linens/bath tissue. There are rewards for positive behaviors.

So I stayed in the shelter program for 28 days. Throughout my time here I was able to find God and get my life on track and start looking for other programs to help me find housing for me and my family. The staff here are friendly and very straight forward with you. Its very hard to get kicked out of the program. Literally just follow the rules and you will succeed. My 2 year old had a blast staying here they had a park and a pool which we utilized almost every day. The meals they served wasnt bad but you had to option to buy take out if you didnt like what was prepared. Thank you El cajon transitional center! Thank you Lynn.

My name is Dj. My husband was recently released from prison after a 20 year stint and was accepted into this program at the beginning of Dec. 2020. He is currently doing the mens discipleship program at the ranch. So far he is thriving and adjusting really well there. Its very strict and structured, but is treated really well there. Lots of activities and programs to keep him in the right direction. Not much down time, which I think is good. The program employees were very nice to me when we took him there. I was even offered a very tasty dinner and not rushed away. Seem to good and kind hearted people for the most part. My only complaint at this point would be that the black out period of 90 to 120 days at the ranch is a bit too long to not be able to have contact with their families. I dont 100% agree woth that particular policy. Other then that, it seems like a really clean and productive program that is safe. I am happy and fortunate that we found this program. My family tried to get in there. Not all the staff are friendly. They want $200 up front to just get your foot in the door, AND they want you to have EBT in which they make you give them to feed you. It ended up being about 90% of our EBT. The $200 you have to pay monthly. And they get offended if you do not want to attend their church meetings. When you tell them you do not want to attend the church...watch their attitude change. They will be even less friendly.

I was at a hotel across the street once..or twice. Doin dirt as they say... Drugs Guns Gangs the whole 9 yards when a servant. Back then it was still Set Free approached on the street. oN FIRE for our lord... Preaching with love his word. Of course my comrade and I got away because we had no time for that. A seed was planted and a year later I went looking for that brother and found this ministry. I was desperate broken and without a safe place to lay my head. They sent me the most holy place I have ever been to on this earth and in this lifetime. The Ranch. Truly hallowed ground! Where I met Fortunate and many other brothers. My life has never been the same. The peace and brotherly love along with the friends brothers and connections Ive made through this ministry will be with me forever! Though I get kicked off the ranch every time (maybe 3 or 4 now) for my outlaw ways... I still trust God to be there for me and every brother that steps foot on that hallowed ground. Thank you Set Free and ECTLC! Youve had my back and even saved my life more than once. And I know the spirit of the lord is here and will continue to be for countless others.

I’ve been wondering if I should do a review on this place or not but I think it’s time for the truth. This program is set up to take homeless people off the streets. Being in that predicament you are basically desperate for any help you can get. Being from Chula Vista California growing up I never really went to east county for one reason! East county is full of racism. Anyways this was my second stay here at ectlc thankful for the roof over my head and the word of God and that’s pretty much it. Let’s talk about favoritism lord knows what goes on in this facility and theirs definitely favorites. I’ve gotten disrespected by many young women here but because I’m black and have an opinion and and very strong a passionate about the things I see and hear going on I usually would be the one to blame. The women’s director Diane wheeler or Mary which ever she goes by is a very interesting lady. She said she cared about me and loved me but for some reason there was something off certain days she would treat me alright but when I’d really need “counseling” from her she rush me and be off in a flash now I understand she is a busy lady but I’m not stupid and I’m very aware on how she treats other girls who just happen to be white or light skinned Mexicans. We were able to eat off of donations and have a structured day with bible studies. The Bible study teachers loved me because I truly was there to get help and they could see the lords love radiating through me. A lot of people have a cult like mentality in this place sadly not learning about God truly but trying to put on a front in order to fit in and not get singled out. The Black girls are not allowed to straighten their hair in the house do to the smell being much harsher than any other race that does their hair inside ( this was told to me and many other black girls from are overseers Kristina and Rosie). I believe God put me in this place to be a light for him which many people tried to constantly dim but you can’t not will not and never will dim the light of the Lord. I have met many beautiful people through this program and also many ugly wolves in sheeps clothing. If you are on the streets and have no where else to go, go here but keep to yourself and with God.

This program bans Joyce Meyer Christian material and says that we have to repent for celebrating Christmas?! Im not even kidding! Something about the place just has a really depressing vibe to it. On a positive note some really godly older Christian women would come at least once a week to minister to us, but it was hard for that to compensate for the numerous other flaws in this organization.

Honestly this was the best thing for my foundation. This place helped save my life. I will be frank, not everyone can handle it, but if you are ready to make a complete change with your life and get off the streets, this program works wonders. I volunteered at Petco park while in the program and the next year I was hired as an employee and was a manager starting at $13.52 an hour. I went in with the clothes on my back and today I have a great job, 2 cars, a wonderful family and a home. I noticed some of the negative reviews and I have to respectfully disagree. It is all about perspective. Maybe I am just more grateful because I came from another Christian program in el centro that made us panhandle and we barely ate. At least ECTLC is a program to set you up for success and transition back into society. I and a bunch of other graduates from my time there are doing amazing!

The LORD does great works in peoples lives here, and molds disciples to be vessels for His will and shines His Divine Grace upon this ministry. The Pastors are caring incredibly knowledgeable and wise men of God who genuinely minister The Word as it is written. East County Transitional Living Center in El Cajon, CA and the Mens Training Center in Dulzura, CA are amazing and very wonderful places to get to know our LORD and Savior Jesus Christ, and learn how to be humble, good, righteous, kind Christians. Learning the teachings from The Holy Bible in depth by the pastoral staff and how to be of service through hands on application. This is a protected facility with a church member unofficial security guard, at the entrance. It is safe and sober, drug free facility. No outsiders permitted into the rooms, but can drop-off, and pick-up.Rooms consist of one living area per individual/family. Two beds. Meals served at church hall, on the same grounds. A Storage facility is next-door.

I stayed at the womens ranch portion of the program for a month, I mean, I guess Im grateful for them providing me shelter (I had to go due to homelesness), but there was just so many issues with the place I just couldnt manage it try as I might. They did not allow Christian books yet they allow secular movies? Needless to say I was bored out of my freakin mind. How am I supposed to stay holed up in a house for three months with absolutely nothing to do?! There is expired food with clearance stickers all over the house when I tried to throw some dressing away that expired a year before I was stopped and told that it was common practice for them to keep expired foods (or something to that extent) and that I wasnt permitted to throw it away. The few times when there was vegetables in the house I would ask during the meal times if it could be put out so that I could have at least a little bit of nutrition time and time again I was told that what was placed on the table was all we could eat to my dismay I would always watch the healthy food rot and be thrown away. The only water available to us was unfiltered water straight from the tap (fluoride is very poisonous). as soon as women arrive they are taken to the welfare office and made to apply for food stamps (so that they could relinquish the majority of it to the program). This would be fine except for the fact the only food I ever saw was moldy bread and processed frozen junk food and tap water. The worst part about this place and the tipping point for me was when I was told that I wouldnt be able to have visits on Sunday because they wanted me to work at the chargers games. The only day you have available for visits is the only day we work (which consists of standing around doing worthless crap if anything). How do they expect us to go weeks without seeing our children?! At least have visiting available on Saturday then we just lie around bored as hell anyway those days we might as well see our families. On another occasion the day prior I was told my visit would have to be cancelled due to they did not have transportation five milles to their headquarters. They do not allow phone calls even for important matters I wasnt able to inform my family of the visiting hours until weeks after I arrived when I found someone who would provide me with a stamp to write them. I know this is a Christian program thats why i wanted to go there bless their hearts maybe they are trying their best but three months with no phone calls, few visits, no books, and terribly unhealthy food is just an extremely unpleasant experience. The San Diego rescue mission womens and childrens center is much much better. Honestly I think someone would have to be hella desperate to put up with those effed up living conditions.

I went there because my daughter and I were homeless. It was more like a rehab center. Strict rules. They force you to go to bible study 3 or 4 times a day, do homework, check in and out when you leave, but you can leave after 3 pm and curfew is 6pm. If you break any rules, you have to copy bible verses, or they can keep you from leaving property for 30 days. There is a bad roach problem that they need to take care of... Kept me up half the night sometimes cuz i couldnt stand the thought of them crawling on me when i sleep. I also dont think the bible should be forced upon anyone.

I agree with the majority, this place is another cult hiding behind the bible, I bet most of the leaders might quote a verse but they couldnt tell you where it is in the bible, because they also hide behind it and dont look in it, I remember being at the mens ranch,and a bible was on the kitchen outside tray Area and the pastor threw it in the trash can, now what pastor does that?? This is a place not to find honest people, you have staff members making 98% of all decision about everybodys individual problems or concerns, example:: my girl went to there five months ago to get off drugs, fine but her sister Diane or Mary works there, so right off the top Mary tells Tanya to stay in the program and leave me, she dont need me, now mind you, I quit doing drugs when TANYA had went there so Im clean to this day also, my fiancé calls me quite a bit telling me while shes sobbing that she wants to come home and of course Ill go and get her, then before I leave to get her she calls back and says she had to stay because Diane would get mad, so my fiances lil perks that Diane have gave her to stay, was overseer of the family side, now mind you Tanya never spent one day at the ranch like most females have to, plus Tanya told me that she gets first pick of all the donations brought in, she goes on to tell me she has twenty two pairs of shoes that were donated to the program, Now you all want to talk favoritism, I know thats my fiance, but that is a ridiculous manner to be on, I know my step son Brandon came out of thus program a bigger liar than before he went in, I know my step daughter whos always walked with God and who has never lied about anything, is lying now, and come to find out that all the time my fiancé was calling me to come home, her sister Diane would periodicly go to the main office and let her sister and a male friend in the he sanctuary (wont mention His name) hes just a male thats been there and sees an opportunity on a very beautiful lady thats confused by having me and her sister in her ear playing tug a war, and this male is a close friend to Diane, Diane tells them if anybidy says anything I let you in to use the computer, now Tanya is the type of person she wants to please others at all costs, so Diane tells Tanya( source of information from Tanyas mouth speaking to me via Facebook and telephone) to put thus man on her Facebook page and she did, then Diane tells her to write something on the post and you will have no choirs for a month and Ill make you overseer of the family side, Well Tanya knew as soon as I seen the post with this man picture it was over, so she said okay and wrote I Love This Man in the post to get me more jealous, because I tell you all I love Tanya very very much but her sister dont like me at all and put in Tanyas head that we are no good for each other, now listen weve been together ten years come this December, and my fiance loves her family also but she only went there to kick her a habit and her sister begged her and promised her the moon to stay and leave me, Tanya asked me to go to the program and me to be at the ranch for approximately 6 months but Diane told her I cant go there. For anyone struggling with shelter needs, visit this place. You will have the option of connecting with the on-site church if youd like. If I were ever endangered with homelessness, this would be the first place Id go to, asking for help. The intent at ECTLC is to put people back on the path to self-sufficient living beyond this facility.

It was ok at first but after they knew i wasnt intetested in their family ministries program the tables turned...and if you are only there for emergency or transitional program...they offer no services and charge more rent than i receive each month so i dont understand how they are helping...they take you in knowing that they are just going to put you back on the street and its sad...especially when you have kids....i wouldnt want to practice their religion if it means that is the way you treat people ..that is not very Christian of them running the place like they do...judging everyone that comes in there like they are any better...they are the fakest Christians i ever encountered....its a joke really and they should be investigated as far as i am concerned....if you need a place for a month or so its fine but any longer dont count on be stable unless you do everything they want you to which is bull...like you are being punished for being homeless...its disgusting
