Dr. Gentry is an expert in the field of gynecology and gynecological surgery and has been for 28 years. Her knowledge and experience has been so needed in the community. I am grateful to have been in her hands during my recent surgery, and to have been a patient in her practice for 13+ years. She cares, and is totally thorough, and is a kind and warm person too. I trust and appreciate Dr. Gentry so much. She is very knowledgeable, patient, confident and committed to the work she does. Not to mention, she is the most outstanding OBGYN in the Bay Area. While they can be busy and hard to reach at times (I know I’ve been frustrated with the front desk), I have only ever had wonderful interactions with the doctors and NPs. They are compassionate and understanding. Recently, I had an IUD removal and replacement, something that has caused complications before, and I was anxious. The doctor was patient as she walked me through each and every step of our exam, listened to all my concerns, and made sure that I was comfortable and prepared. Easily the best experience I’ve had with the procedure!

Dr Gentry is amazing and went above and beyond to help me today when I was in extreme pain. Staff moved mountains to make my visit possible and everyone was incredibly supportive on a difficult day. I absolutely recommend Dr Gentry - she is a thorough, kind, and attentive physician who really made a positive impact on my health today. 10/10 recommend this office, especially for clients like me who have found it challenging to receive care at other places before.

Its always a pleasure to see Dr. Gentry. I’ve been going to Dr Gentry since 2004 and she has always been warm and pleasant. Her staff is the same way. She is very easy to talk to and always has more then one solution if you are having problems. I have referred family and friends to her over the years and they are very happy with her as well. Today I had a polyp removal.The procedure was painless to my surprise after looking at prior videos.It was my first meeting with Doctor Gentry.I was looking for a Doctor that looks healthy, speaks of healthy ways they decompress from their workload and a Doctor that gives advice to inspire you to do better for yourself.Knowledge is power to be used for ones heath and protection.Doctor Gentry met all of the above and more.

Dr. Gentry is the best! I recently had a procedure done with her and I’m already feeling on the up and up. I appreciate her kindness and understanding and how she can be straightforward, too. I feel like I’ve been having this issue for 2 years now and she was able to identify it quickly. While the office may have a little bit of wait times, it’s pretty standard for any office nowadays so just plan ahead. I think her front staff are also very nice and organized! I recommend Dr. Gentry and EBWH!

It’s so heartbreaking, the fall in quality from this practice. I used to send all of my friends here and now I’m having to tel them all to find a new OBGYN. It seems to me like they’ve accepted way more clients than they can actually handle, and the front office staff are awful to work with.Over the last two years, I had my annual appoints rescheduled, delayed, rescheduled, then ultimately cancelled, just to start the process of rebooking over and over again. It’s been awful. The staff on the phones are rude and unhelpful, as if this isn’t a medical practice of an especially delicate nature.

The billing practices by this office is trash and sketchy at best. I had a new patient well woman exam with Dr. Gentry in April. Keep in mind, I am very familiar with how billing for preventive care works, as I have worked for one of my insurers and I have great coverage, so this should have been a simple first appointment.Before my appointment, patients are required to fill out a medical history form online. I should have known my visit wouldnt be billed accurately, because upon entering the exam room and having not even seen the doctor yet, the nurse or medical assistant is asking about if I had a physical in the past 12 months because this visit could be billed as an office visit. I quickly informed her that I do this every year and my appointment should be covered at 100%. Also, its highly unprofessional to discuss/assume what a visit will be billed as/outcomes without even seeing the doctor first. If they want to know, ask when scheduling the appointment.Upon Dr. Gentry entering the room, she noticed that I filled out a line on my medical history incorrectly. We then discussed my medical history. If part of her practice is not care about patient history when seeing new patients for the first time, then dont bother to ask. I could have scheduled another appointment about my medical history. I did not ask for a referral, yet she gave me one for a specialist.I received a bill for a new patient office visit and when I initially called, no one could tell me what the bill is for. Then on another call, today, they want to tell me other issues were discussed. What other issues? ... my medical history? I have never been billed for discussing my relevant medical history with a doctor. If Dr. Gentry simply wants to do exams with new patients instead of at least becoming familiar with their history, then I wouldnt recommend her at all. Just do exams and let patients go about their way.Being new to the Bay Area, and already having limited access to great African-American providers who are also specialists, this entire experience with my first provider here was disappointing to say the least. This first visit in addition to the incompetent staff who cant tell you anything, but refer you to billing is unacceptable and I will not be returning to this practice.

This was my first visit to Dr. Gentry. What I liked most about her was that she listened to every word I said. It has been forever since a doctor has done that. At one point, I could not get my words together because I was trying so hard not to cry. Dr. Gentry waited patiently for me to formulate my thoughts and asked relevant questions in the meantime. She explained things in a clear but not condescending manner. I felt heard and respected during me entire visit. Her office staff was professional and kind as well.

I had excellent medical care.I retired and came to the Oakland/Berkeley hills to be near my grandchildren. I have been repeatedly medically assaulted! First off Dr. Stelling is an amazing physician. She has been taking care of my female health for nearly ten years. I hate to see her leave but feel Blessed to have been under her care. Dr. Gentry has an excellent bedside manner. Her presence was comforting to me as soon as she entered the room. She was happy to answer all of my questions, and she did this in an open and reassuring way. She was also very empathetic during a procedure she performed that was unavoidably painful to me. Furthermore, she was able to fit me into her schedule for this on very short notice. I highly recommend Dr. Gentry to any woman seeking a caring, knowledgeable, and skilled OB-GYN.

Dr. Gentry is amazing!! She is highly skilled and has superior experience!! I came to her through a referral from another physician. I was looking for a second opinion on a procedure that was unsuccessfully attempted by my previous OBGYN. Dr. Gentry was able to offer additional options that were better suited for my condition. Im so happy that I came to Dr. Gentry for another opinion, I was resolved to just give up, but Im so glad that I didnt. Dr. Gentry is also very thourough, she takes the time to listen and answers all my questions during my appointments. The staff at the hospital even complimented her - the nurse told me I was in good hands because Dr. Gentry does great work and always provides her patients with the most detailed post-op instructions that she has ever seen from any physician. In addition to Dr. Gentrys great attributes she also has wonderful staff! Her staff is very professional, friendly, and responsive. My wait time to see the doctor has never been more than 15 minutes. I highly recommend her to others!

The office was great when I called and was able to assist me with getting the last new patient appointment available with Dr. Gentry until April. Dr. Gentry seems like a lovely Dr and she made me feel very comfortable and she was very informative. The reason why I gave my visit 3 stars is because my appointment was at 3:30 and I wasnt seen until 4:30. I was Maybe because I was a new patient, but I wish someone would have just given my some reassurance that Dr. Gentry is either looking over my medical history or maybe she was busy with the patients that had appointments prior.

I find Dr. Stelling to be warm and extremely helpful. She really listens and cares for her patients. My visit with her was great. I took one star off because I had to wait almost 2 hours to be seen in her office. It would have been better if they could have rescheduled my appointment or let me know that the wait time was going to be that long. I know medical offices are facing delays because of COVID, but I found the wait to be a real issue.

Dr. Gentry was great. I have an extensive and complicated reproductive history, Dr. Gentry took the time to review it in depth. She is very knowledgeable and thoroughly explained what my options for moving forward were. She was gentle and explained everything she was going to do during my exam in advance and again just before doing it. I really like her! Shell be by my gynecologist until I move ir she retires, whichever comes first.

Service here has been awful. The receptionists specifically arent very helpful. Nurse practitioners are great but the the rest of the staff should probably be more aware of services this clinic has to offer. If you are trying to inquire about birth control here - consider going elsewhere as the front desk has been misleading and I have had to experience severe delays b/c my birth control device order wasnt placed until I called a few weeks in to check. It has now taken over 3 months of waiting just to get a birth control device in. And Im still waiting to see if I can squeeze in an appointment with them in the next 2 weeks.Discontinuing getting care here once my device has been put in.

What struck me about my appointment with Dr. Gentry was not only her knowledge of my challenges, but the fact that she explained everything in clear, understandable language that belied her skill at the process. I broke down in the appointment because, for almost the first time, she was describing symptoms I had stopped sharing with doctors because they didn’t seem relevant or were ignored previously. Really disappointed in the professionalism and ethics of this facility, as well as Dr.Gentry. Theyve shown that pregnancy care is nothing more than a business to them both. I reached out to make my first prenatal appointment, and the receptionist had a few questions for me to answer before they would agree to take me as a patient. One of the first questions was if I would stay on the same insurance for the entire pregnancy. Im currently on a high deductible plan, so I said it was likely I would stay on the plan, but I wasnt 100% certain. She asked a couple additional questions, and said they would call me the following day to let me know if Dr.Gentry would take me or not, but they didnt. I gave them an extra day, but no response, so I reached out to them. The receptionist said that even though they accept my current insurance, since I could not guarantee that I would have the same insurance come January (5 months down the road), that Dr.Gentry refused to take me as a patient because I may need to be transferred to another facility for the delivery (ie. the most expensive part of a pregnancy). When I explained it should be my right to choose, she said she would talk to Dr.Gentry and call me back. Of course, I never received that call. Regardless of the fact that I needed care now and they accepted my current insurance, Dr.Gentry refused to accept me unless I could guarantee my business of delivering the baby with her. I felt as if I was being held hostage - no empathy and no consideration for my right to choose whats best for me.

Dr. Gentry is great, a true expert in her office. Ive had a great experience with her answering my questions and thoroughly explaining medically whats going on. My only issue is the office staff moves a little slower & seems to be quite busy all the time. When Ive called the office, Ive been on hold as long as 20 minutes. And they take a couple days to return a phone call. Ive been to her office 4 times and unfortunately each time my wait time to physically see her was about an hour (even with an appointment time ) there should be some improvement with The dynamics of the office workers and wait time!!

Pro- This was my first visit with Dr Gentry. I loved her, she took time to look into a potentially serious issue and followed up with me that evening. The past 3 OBs I had seen at my last 3 appointments didnt look into the issue at all. She had a welcoming style and I felt heard for the first time in my 3 years at this practice. I would rate Dr gentry 5 stars.Con- It always takes a long time to be seen here. I admit that sometimes its my fault because Im late, but even when I arrive early or on time Im never seen by a doctor within 30 minutes. Sometimes the wait is as much as an hour. I would rate the wait time 2 stars.

When I got to the office Dr. Gentry was 45 minutes behind schedule so I was offered an appointment later in the day. I still had to wait 45 minutes when I returned. Dr. Gentry is a great doctor so she is very popular. I really like her but she is often behind schedule. Luckily she is worth the wait.

If I rated this office purely by my experience with the woman whom greeted me at the front desk, I would have problems even giving one star. But, the person giving me my exam was very professional and empathetic to my personal experiences and fears/concerns. I feel safe in her hands and I feel respected by her. Following my appointment, the office manager and I talked at length about my experience with one of her front desk assistants. She made sure I felt heard, and validated my complaints as she was privy to overhearing the interaction. It seems that maybe the staff up front just needs a bit more training as women’s health services are hard enough to procure these days. I will be going back, and I hope that the experience proves to be 5 stars in both the waiting room as well as the exam room.

Please please please avoid!! You will waste your time. People on the phone are rude. I scheduled a new patient visit online with Dr. Gentry and was called by a machine the next day to tell me to reschedule. I called the office and they rescheduled me for a date that was almost a month later than what I saw available online and it would not even had been with a doctor (!!?). Today a machine called again to tell me I need to reschedule for an appointment that was supposed to be next week. You cannot do this to people, people have serious needs!!

Ive been a patient of Dr. Gentry for years! She did both my c-sections & fibroidectomy. Each time my experiences were great! She kept me well informed about what to expect and is knowledge. Before I chose her, I asked the RNs what they thought...Oh yes! She knows her stuff!They were right! Shes still my doc to this day. She may be a little tardy for office visits, but I highly reccomend her.

I scheduled an appointment here in June. The earliest available they had was in July. I went to my appointment and the provider was not there so I had to reschedule for August. I went to my appointment and once again the provider was not there and they suggested that I reschedule. The earliest they had available was in October. I’ve already been waiting months for this appointment. I did not receive a voicemail both times the provider was not in office. This is absolutely unacceptable. Having two appointments cancelled, with no notice, spending time and money on transportation to the office. DO NOT GO TO THIS OFFICE. Very unprofessional. The medical provider probably won’t be there and you’ll be stuck waiting months to be seen. Awful experience. Not patient orientated.

If you like waiting for your Dr. to appear or call you for scheduled appointments and not post test results as you were promised, then Dr. Stelling is the one for you. Yes, Dr.’s have busy and changing schedules, but so do patients, and sitting in the dressing gown for over 40 minutes is not very cozy. The doctor or office staff did not provide me with information about procedures to be done during my visit. I did not take the offered ibuprofen when the nurse checked me in as I did not know what the process was to be, nor was it explained to me, and the vaginal pain was excruciating. The Dr. does answer all questions, but you need to make sure that you know what to ask to be informed.

Check Yelp for the honest reviews of this place. I tried to make an appointment over the phone and was told it would be months until I could be seen even though online they had plenty of appointments available. I asked and the receptionist said yeah, those arent real, and when people make those, we just call them to cancel. I made one anyways and got multiple confirmations, so all seemed fine, and then was cancelled on 3 hours before the appointment for an emergency (someone in labor). The receptionist called me to cancel and again was telling me that I couldnt be seen for months even though online showed sooner appointments. At this point I checked Yelp, read those reviews about how getting cancelled on multiple times is not uncommon and have decided to look elsewhere. I cant deal with such a frustrating practice, and need a place that can actually make and KEEP appointments. Also, the receptionist is truly terrible at her job. You would think for someone who does patient intake and scheduling all day shed be better at not messing up literally every piece of information you give her, but trying to give her my info was one of the most painful processes, like worse than the DMV painful and shes a terrible communicator.

Id rather wait for an hour (no I dont wait this long for Dr. Gentry) for a doctor that I KNOW will listen to my concerns and respond no matter how long it takes than get breezed through by a doc with a text book response just for his/her next check. Dr. GENTRY performed a surgery on me 6-months ago and the process leading up to the surgery was seamless! I was always made to feel comfortable. Dr. Gentry was a calm source of wisdom and strength through a horrific pregnancy and delivery that I ended up having. She is smart and gives excellent care. At times, I have felt like other aspects of the office, such as paperwork and explanations of next steps, can be difficult to tackle as a patient and you end up having to manage a lot of it yourself. I’ve gotten the wrong lab request given to me before (thankfully caught it on the elevator), and no one follows up with you regarding the SDI paperwork or walks you through how to go get stuff done elsewhere. Since they outsource lab work and other things so frequently, it would be nice to get more direction from the staff. I am also concerned that I was not offered post partum depression surveys during my visits after I gave birth to my daughter. Ive talked to other mothers who mentioned that this seemed to be policy that your doctors office check in re: your mental health.

I came in because of an issue I was experiencing, the doctor ordered for me to take an ultrasound and imagine scan. A couple weeks went by and I received the results as a letter in the mail. Switching practices after a number of negative experiences here. First, the front desk staff are rude and unresponsive. They refused to see me before 9 weeks with my first pregnancy (even though I hadn’t been seen by a gynecologist in 3 years due to covid) and even then I was barely able to make an appointment as they had no availability (had to schedule 5 weeks ahead of time). Then when I got there (15 minutes early). No one was at the front desk, and I ended up waiting 45 minutes for my appointment. Then saw the NP who was nice enough, but wrote the wrong dates on my Nuchal ultrasound, which is a big mistake. I was told I wouldn’t meet my actual doctor until my 3rd appointment. Let me start off saying that I have yet to even meet with Dr Stelling because I have been canceled on TWICE. Her office staff is completely unprofessional. I would NEVER recommend ANY WOMEN needing health care to come to this office. Each time they have canceled has been the morning of my appointment. I highly recommend East Bay Women’s Health! I have been a patient of Dr. Gentry’s for over a year now and it has been an amazing experience. I have never met a physician more thorough than Dr. G (as I like to call her). When one of the doctors in the practice was out having her own baby, Dr. Gentry was busier than usual with the added patient load, yet she never rushed through any appointments, nor did she appear overwhelmed. You can tell she loves what she does and has a huge passion for it. In addition to being thorough, she is also very kind and warm, and incredibly smart. Each appointment felt like an easy conversation with a great friend who has taken a sincere interest in my health and wellbeing, as well as that of my unborn child. My favorite thing about Dr. G is that she never walked into the exam room with one of those floating computers that most practitioners use these days. Instead, she would walk in empty handed (unless she had lab slips or other handouts for me), having already gone through my chart, thereby making the conversation very easy and comfortable. I simply cannot stand those floating computers and the practitioners that use them. I think they are a cheap excuse to avoid going through the patient’s chart prior to meeting with them, and it makes the whole interaction very awkward because the practitioner is essentially speaking to the computer and not to the patient. I personally don’t need any additional awkwardness, considering that I am already naked from the waist downwards.All the practitioners at EBWH are pleasant and I often wondered who among them would deliver my baby. I honestly went in knowing that there was a good chance another doctor would deliver my baby because babies show up whenever they want, and sometimes your doctor may not be available for it. But Dr. G went above and beyond to make sure she was there for the birth. It was the best feeling in the world to know that my doctor who had been there for me during the 9 months of pregnancy, and who had gotten to know my body so well was there till the very end.It’s been wild and I am looking forward to continued gynecological care at East Bay Women’s Health. Give them a try, you won’t be disappointed.

Dr Gentry saved my life!!!!!!About 4 years ago I was diagnosed with severe bleeding (fibroid tumors). I had seen three other Drs in an effort to be treated. My bleeding resulted in severe anemia. Two primary care Drs and a naturapathic Dr all confirmed my bleeding was at near grave levels.First a very popular in network facility tried multiple times to complete the imaging; however, they had long waits for appointments and when I arrived (full of water) I had to wait for long periods in the lobby until I could no longer hold the water and was forced to reschedule.Next, an out of network facility thought they could help by completing the imaging for the diagnosis. They reviewed my insurance and made the appointment; but when I arrived (full of water) - they stated they could not accept my HMO insurance and turned me away.I was then referred to Dr Gentry by a dear friend - Dr Gentry was the only complete facility that was able to complete my diagnosis and perform my surgery before the lights went out for me. Dr Gentrys lab staff were patient and persistent.Dr Gentry quickly arranged for her lab to get me an appointment. Her lab allowed me stay as long as it took to get the imaging done. If I could no longer hold the water; then I was allowed to relieve myself and drink more water until we got the imaging done. Dr Gentry did not allow her lab to send me away until the imaging was done and she completed the diagnosis and surgery.Dr Gentry, minimized how invasive the procedure was and helped me keep my reproductive parts - she stopped the excessive bleeding!!!!Thank you again Dr Gentry - I will be forever grateful!! Biggest mistake ever.Unprofessional practices. Havent even seen the doctors yet so I cannot comment on it but the staff was horrible. They moved my wifes appointment to Thursday because the doctor had to do surgery. That was fine to me, surgery happened. I called Wednesday morning to confirm the appointment and they said we were already late. Our appointment was booked for earlier that morning instead of Thursday. Nobody called us to notify that our appointment had been moved up.Ok, so rescheduled to another day. We came in 15 min early to sign all the papers and what not. Proceeded to exam room and waited almost 90 minutes there. No one dropped by to check in on us or anything. We just walked out and they even showed us the exit, didnt notice we were the patient waiting in the exam room.Im not willing to leave my wife and kids safety in the hands of these people.As someone already stated, the doctors time is precious but so is patients time. If you cannot keep the appointment, dont accept new patient so we can find someone who is not too busy to care for patient.

Dr. Stelling was excellent, and made what was a rather unpleasant procedure go well and without a hitch. The only issue I have is that this office was very hard to get hold of. They initially called me when I was in a meeting, and when I called back, no one returned my call. It was hard to get hold of a human to make my appointment.

Just a terrible experience at this place. Even though I showed up to appt on time, the office manager was so rude, and blocked me from the appt with the doctor. They insist that you are there on time. The doctor was more than an hour late. They have a poorly ventilated waiting room, and the even thought I was willing to wait for the doctor the office manager was so nasty that she forced the appt to be cancelled and blocked me from seeing the doctor. Such terrible customer care. Read the reviews on yelp. My experience is consistence with the rudeness and incompetance of the office staff. So awful they have to be reported to the CA medical board. Doctor didnt even bother to follow up.

My fiancé really adored the way we were treated during our visit. As for me I also adored the care that I was given. I felt my baby and I were really cared for and not just another person being pushed to the out of doctors appointment. I went to EBWH for laser hair removal. Appointments were easy to schedule, and the procedures felt safe and professional. My dermatologist recommended that I get laser procedures done by a doctor for optimal safety. Dr. Gentry was great and sensitive to my pain tolerance. I would definitely recommend EBWH to anybody interested in laser hair removal.Also, the entire office has been very cautious about COVID safety.

Making my first appointment was a bit problematic, went and booked online (which specifies that someone will call to confirm) called several times to follow up, nonone answered, even right at opening time. Left several messages, took a week for someone to call me back and confirm my appt. there was confusion about initial appt information and I went to wrong location. They were able to get me another appt same day which was great.Dr. Stelling was kind and gentle and approachable. She eemed very open to talk and answer any questions I had. I just wonder about the technology they are using as test results and such take quite a bit of time, and there was no initial under the microscope pap eval.A decent gyno experience. Will wait for test results and follow up appt discussions to determine whether I will keep them as my regular Gyno practitioners.

My experience trying book an appointment was very frustrating. I booked it online weeks ahead, and then just two days before the appointment someone called and left a voicemail that they needed more information and canceled my appointment until I called back. I left two messages on the appointment voicemail and called multiple times until someone answered. It then three more back and forth phone calls to finally confirm the appointment.However, I saw CNM Muto, and she was great. She listened to all my questions and concerns and explained everything in detail. As long as Im able to book my appointment more easily next time, I will continue to come.

Even though I have a lot of fear and anxiety around trips to the OBGYN, I love going to East Bay Womens Health. Every practitioner Ive seen has been warm, caring, informative, nonjudgemental, helpful, and calming. I dont usually leave reviews but Im going to for two reasons:(The Good) 2 selected stars are for Dr. Stelling -- she was informed, took the time to educate and made me feel more at ease about my questions.(The Bad) 1 unselected star is for the folks who called me for my appointment and ASSUMED why I was coming in. Had the Doc Asst. thinking i was there for an annual exam, which Id just had one month prior.(The ugly) 2 unselected stars are for the fact that I waited, in the examination room for almost 40 minutes. No nurse came in to give me an update. No idea how long it would be. I waited 20 minutes, prior to that in the waiting room. If they were busy, wish they wouldve informed me of that.

You will never have your appointment on time. On average it’s a hour past your appointment time. They don’t thank you for your patience or apologize for the wait. When I had concerns about what medicine I could take for my heartburn I was brushed off with a “well did you get our F.A.Q. at your first appointment?”Every person I’ve ever talked to in the lobby has also been an hour to 90 minutes past their appointment time. My 12:00 appointment started at 12:45 and I was left in a very cold room in just a gown for 20 minutes. Worse, I told the NP that I had a pap smear last year, didnt need on this year. When the NP put a speculum in she said that she was just going to look. Then I felt that I was swabbed. I said hey, we decided I wasnt going to have a pap smear. She said oh sorry I forgot. Very bad behavior. I wouldnt see this NP again ever.
