Im new to the area, and this was my first visit. I needed an inspection done, and then discussed the follow up with Tony, i.e. what do I want done among the things he found. He was fast, really helpful, and not pushing on me things I dont really need right now. Great place to get my BMW maintained for a very reasonable price. Ill definitely come back.

I’ve been going to Driven SD for at least the last 3 years if not more now, and I’ve always had the same excellent experience. I just had an oil change and brake fluid flush this morning. Tony is a fantastic mechanic, knows his field as a subject matter expert and formerly worked at a BMW dealership in town. I found him googling best BMW mechanics in San Diego after getting sick of paying high dealership fees and questionable experiences at other mechanics. He’s very fair in price, and I’ve never felt pressured to get services or repairs that aren’t necessary. IMHO he and his shop are the model of honest, reliable and fair mechanics. I remember recently about a year ago, I had an issue that he could have charged a couple hundred dollars to have fixed, but he found out the local dealership would fix the issue at no cost to me and told me to save my money, get it done there. That experience sold me, so I will never go to the dealership again if I don’t need to, or another mechanic, I recommend him to everyone I know. I highly recommend him and hope he stays in business for a long time. I would give more stars if possible!

Dropped my 435i off due to some intermittent battery drain issues. The issues were addressed and the gave me the option to fix other items that needed attention. Tony and Ilya are very quick to respond to questions and provide awesome customer service! I have peace of mind and confidence in my BMW again. This has been the best experience that I have had with a bmw repair shop period!They quickly found the problem, fixed the problem and had it finished the same day! And if that wasnt good enough, they actually lowered the inspection cost because it was not too difficult a fix! Now honestly...who does that?! So I will definitely be bringing my X5 50i back here for any other issues it might have.If I could give 7 stars, I definitely would!

Tony is likely the best BMW mechanic I have ever been to. I brought in my convertible M3 after taking it to FIVE different mechanics quoting me over $2000 for fix the convertible top. Tony was able to get the top fully functional in less than 3 days for 1/4 of the cost. He truly is a BMW guru!! Unfortunately I live 6.5 hours away in Arizona but would GLADLY make the drive back to San Diego for any of my BMW needs. Him and his foreman were honestly the best. If you’re looking for an honest, hardworking mechanic, look no further. Thank you so much!

Ive had my car in several times for maintenance since my older car is no longer supported by free maintenance at the dealership. Tony is knowledgeable and goes the extra mile to make sure everything is working correctly. Prices are extremely reasonable compared to the dealer I use to take my car to. Experiencing mechanical issues and being stranded on the highway can be a big headache. Absolutely amazing experience. My 1997 BMW Z3 broke down the day after Christmas. I got a referral from my usual mechanic who couldn’t take my car. Driven SD was closed (which is totally reasonable), the voicemail made it clear they were closed, but had details about when they would be open again. I got a text with proposed appointment and estimate to look at the car very early the day they said they would be back. They have amazing systems in place that make the whole process completely transparent and easy. Almost all of our communication was via text, which included links to invoices and explanations of proposed repairs (the fix was actually pretty easy, but they also provided estimates to two other things I knew my car needed, which was incredibly helpful.) they were able to have my car done a day before they had expected, even though I told them there was no rush. Incredible experience, they will become my regular, go to mechanic.

This is the best shop in San Diego. They have worked on my F10 M5 and my F15 X5. There is another BMW specific shop closer to my city but I still prefer to bring it to Tony. This shop is trustworthy and if you ask around town with other BMW enthusiast you’ll learn quickly that Driven SD has a really good reputation. Th first time I brought my M5 in Tony spent extra time making sure the job was done right and because he had the car a little longer than what he originally told me, he insisted on lowering the labor cost for me. I could tell they really just wanted to get the job done the proper way. It was a brake fluid change and the feeling on the pedal was just slightly off. Tony wanted me to test drive the car with him to see if I could feel anything. He is the one that pointed it out to me and he wanted to confirm! I know for a fact other shops would have sent me on my way since the issue was really very minor and hardly noticeable. Tony wanted to stay a little late in the day and get the job done properly and then also give me a discount. You really don’t find that service and pride in work anymore. I’ll never go anywhere else.

Great BMW shop. Have taken my daughters bmw here since we got it a few years back. Took it a few weeks ago due to a check engine light and Tony helped me out. Very honorable shop; her bmw had additional unforeseen issues that occured while diagnostics but Tony helped us out with the repairs. Unfortunately, at no fault to the shop, the check engine light came back on last night but Tony mentioned that if that happened to take it back to the shop and he would take care of us. Ill keep yall posted.

On November 21st, 2023, at approximately 4:44pm (Right before closing), I called Driven SD to inquire about an Inspection 2 service for my 1998 BMW 528i. Tony was kind enough to listen to my concerns (My 5 Series sat for four and a half years inside of a storage unit). At 4:58pm, Tony sent myself a link to my phone and provided email with detailed notes and pricing for each service.I asked if I could schedule an appointment for 7am for an Inspection 2 for the following morning. Tony replied promptly the next day at 6:44am saying he had to run out the door at 5pm and he just saw my text. He said if I can drop off the car off for the day, he can squeeze it somewhere. Tony also said if I can leave it for the day, he can make it happen.November 22nd, 2023I ended up dropping off the car around 7am and he was very friendly in person. I explained my story and he was very attentive to my concerns and compliment my car. I sent him a list of items of things I wanted checked out.At 10:38am, Tony text me saying he got the 5 Series checked out earlier than expected. He said was making good progress on the Inspection 2 and provided some info together for other concerns.I was able to review it the notes and I was quite happy with the quoted estimates. I went ahead and scheduled an appointment for December 15th. I also scheduled an appointment for January 2nd 2023.At 2:49pm, Tony sent me a text with info that my vehicles check engine light came on while he was driving it. He said unfortunately it seemed that the camshaft sensor has failed and will need to be replaced. He said he would offer to share the pain since it happened on his watch and offered to the repair at 50% for that service. He said the other problem was there werent able to get the part till Friday. I was totally cool with the bad news since he was so transparent and communicative. I ended up calling him back and let him know he can keep the car till Friday to make the repair.On Friday November 24th at 8:21am, Tony sent me a text saying my car is ready and thanks again!Overall, I am very happy with the experience, communication and the pricing. I was researching many shops and Driven SD was consistently at the top. I would highly recommend if you have an older BMW or a newer BMW!I had an appointment on December 15th 2023 at 7am.I was experiencing some scheduling issues and Tony was more than patient with me. I had to push the time to the right twice. I ended up dropping my car off around noon. He let me know it’s going to be ready after the weekend. That visit Driven SD replaced my leaking oil pan gasket, engine mount, transmission mount, and replaced my alarm siren. The turnaround was quick and the car was ready Monday morning December 18th at 9:28 AM. Highly recommend Driven SD if you have a BMW E39 5 Series! Five out of Five Stars!I had an appointment on January 1st 2024 at 7AM.I dropped off my 1998 BMW 528i Sport package to replace the shifter bushings, shift shaft seal, and window washer fluid sensor. Tony sent me a text at 11:45AM letting me know my BMW was ready. 4 hours and 45 minutes for a turnaround is impressive! The pricing was reasonable. Highly recommend Driven SD if you have an older BMW!

Been here twice for different repairs and each time the turnaround was reasonable and no issues following the work. Appointment was made for a set date, I was called within the same morning for an update of what needed to be done and additional recommendations. No fluff, no upsale, just straight to the point providing honest input. My car is older 2011, though Driven SD treats it well and I have zero complaints. I will continue coming here for all my BMWs.

I highly recommend Tony and his team of professionals for the great work they do. I was tired of going to the dealership and being overcharged and not always trusting the recommendations. I am so appreciative to have found Driven SD. They do high quality work, are professional and take the time to really explain what is going on and actually shows me so I can understand the recommendations. I had multiple services required and Tony at Driven SD was able to get this completed asap. He was able to get my car back in basically the same day. Quality work at a reasonable price, and great customer service!Had an appointment at 1:00pm on Tuesday. I needed to drop the car off at 10:00am due to my schedule and I received a text at 12:00pm that the car was already done! Also, I forgot to bring my Blackstone Labs oil container and they were nice enough to take a sample and store it in another container, so I didnt have to run all the way home. I think this is my third or fourth time using Driven SD and I will not take my BMW anywhere else.I forgot to write a review the last time I went there so I am going to add it here. The below appointment was on 03/06/24. I purchased a Dinan Underdrive Pulley and took it Driven SD to get installed. Before I arrived, I knew that Dinan had not sent both belts and Driven was very helpful in determining which belt need to be purchased to complete the install. Once they started the install one of the cooling hoses was so brittle that it immediately cracked. They called to let me know and said usually when something like this occurs, they split the cost with customer due to it not really being their fault. I said that is more than fair and to go ahead and get it replaced. When I went to pick it up, they notified me that hose was more expensive than they originally thought so they would cover the entire cost.What mechanic does that?!That was the moment that I knew that these guys were stand-up mechanics and not the usual hacks, trying to make a quick buck, that I had been dealing with my whole life. I dont plan on ever selling this car, so thank you Driven SD, you have a customer for life.

We have brought our car to Driven SD several times in the last year and I couldnt recommend Tony more! He has performed detailed inspections each time we visit, replaced both front brakes as well as a rear wheel bearing replacement. We bought the car with relatively high mileage and have put a lot more miles on with a handful of cross-country road trips. With the challenges that come with having a higher mileage vehicle, Tony keeps our car in great shape for more trips to come! I feel so grateful to have an honest and reliable mechanic, whenever I have concerns he addresses them quickly and is often flexible and willing to get me in the next day or two when I reach out to him about urgent sounds that need inspection. His customer service is impeccable! He does quality work quickly! On my most recent repair, he had already inspected and sent me a quote in the time it took me to get home from dropping it off. The wheel bearing was replaced by noon and we were able to pick it up just a few hours after leaving it. Do yourself a favor and look no further for your next mechanic! Driven SD is the place to go! Not only is Tony an awesome wrench, he is super fair and reasonably priced. My wife drove to SD for the week, when she got into town the radiator started leaking and the car started overheating. I wasnt with her since we live in a different state so I called around town to see if someone could take care of her car. No one was able to except Drive SD.We called the shop and Tony was extremely helpful. He said even though they were about to close they would make sure to look at the car the same day. He was able to quickly figure out the issue and have the car repaired in time for my wife to he able to drive back to AZ.This is the kind of shop that treats you like they would want to be treated and it shows on how they treat customers. It was a great experience to have work done at Driven SD on our two older 3 series BMWs. Tonys way to run his business is awesome. All communications with estimates and invoices are communicated timely by text and email using good software. No pressure to accept all recommended repairs. In addition to the electronic communication he picked up the phone every time I called and explained issues very well. Both Tony and Ilya are factory trained master technicians with years of BMW dealer experience and it shows. Why is this shop not more packed with customers waiting to get in? The pricing is much better than any dealership or other BMW shop for that matter and they understand that saving money to work on an aging BMW is important to the customer. The work was done quickly and well. One of our cars had an SMG transmission problem that was diagnosed and fixed which likely would have been more problematic elsewhere. They even do AC repair and refrigerant refill. It is great to find an honest and reliable shop to bring our cars to. Do not hesitate to bring your car to Driven SD. This is not surprising with knowing the dealer I purchased my vehicle from.Tony said it should handle much better now with the link installed and OMG there’s a HUGE difference in how the car handles. It feels a lot more secure and I feel more in control of my steering.In addition to this his prices are EXTREMELY COMPETITIVE. I brought my car in for a washer reservoir issue and the other mechanic I took my car too originally quoted me over 300 just to replace the washer.
