My cataract operation with Dr. Devgan was everything I hoped it would be. In the run-up to the op he was informative and reassuring; the op itself passed by like a dream, and my sight since has been miraculously better. I would recommend him unreservedly to anyone considering cataract surgery.

Dr Devgan has been a life saver after experiencing issues with my first cataract surgery with another doctor. He implanted a lens in my other eye and I have 20/20 eye sight without any issues. He will correct my vision in my first eye too. He and his staff are warm and friendly, what an amazing experience. My name is Lorenza and I am 75 years old. I was in serious need of cataract surgery especially in my right eye. The cataract had completely covered my eye and I could not see at all from it.Since I had RK surgery in 1985 I had to make sure I found the best and most experienced surgeon on post-RK patients.After a lot of research I decided to make an appointment with Dr. Devgan. Thank you for giving my mother-in-law her life back to her. It has been a very difficult journey to deal with her cataract since her first failed cataract surgery in May 2023. After cataract fragments fell into the back of her eyes, she had a failed Retina surgery resulting in her iris being damaged. We were told the same could occur to her only good eye with a thick cataract. Being blind at age 63 was a taunting reality that troubled our entire family through many restless nights. She could not even see well enough to walk by the time she made her first visit at Dr. Devgan’s office. We are very blessed to be in Dr. Devgan’s hands. His talents and experience have made a decisive difference in her only good eye. Now, she is able to take care of herself again. I was referred to Dr. Devgan because cataract surgery in my right eye by another doctor failed. I was extremely worried and distressed. Dr. Devgan rescued me and restored my sight. He placed a piggyback lens on my right eye that fully corrected the previous doctors error. A week later he performed cataract surgery in my left eye that was also a resounding success.I cannot recommend Dr. Devgan highly enough. He is passionate about his work, highly skilled, and has invaluable experience and expertise. I can only be grateful.

Dr. Devgan has completely changed my eyesight. I havent seen this well in the last 40 years. His expertise with the cataract and lens implant procedure is unparalleled. Dr. Devgan is truly an answered prayer. I am extremely nearsighted and had a visual acuity of -26 diopters in my right eye, and -18 in my left. I did extensive research on Dr. Devgan as I am a higher risk myope. I can tell you his national reputation is well deserved. My wife and I traveled from Chicago to LA for his skillset. Not only is Dr. Devgan an extremely well qualified cataract surgeon (maybe the best!?), but he is also a very compassionate man, and thrives with people skills and bedside manner. He is exactly the kind of surgeon you want when you are feeling the anxiety and fear of surgery. He has done this type of surgery thousands of times, but he treats you with the patience and understanding knowing that this is a first-time procedure for YOU. I can now see much better a few weeks after surgery, and I am indeed grateful for all that he did and continues to do for me and my family (his follow up is outstanding too). Id recommend Dr. Devgan really to anyone. I had Visian lens implants back in 2010 that caused cataracts 10 years later. I took my time and did my research while my eyesight was rapidly deteriorating and after three years finally found Dr Devgan. I knew right away he was my surgeon. I scheduled the consult and surgeries, and flew back and forth from SW Florida to LA three times in two weeks—but it was worth it—Dr Devgan did not disappoint. He was very familiar with Visian lens implants and confident he could remove them during my cataract surgeries. That alone gave me great confidence in him. Because my cataracts were so opaque I was unable to be measured by the light machine and he had to do it by hand. In the end, Dr Devgan was able to get my -16.0 vision to -1.5 and -2.0 and correct my astigmatism at the same time. Not perfect, but a huge improvement. Dr Devgan’s passion for what he does is evident from start to finish and I am so grateful to have found him—I would not have trusted anyone else!

I am absolutely thrilled with my result, from the first day after the procedure. Dr Uday listened intently and accurately to my concerns, preferences and the demands of my professional life as an Anesthetist. Dr Uday exceeded all expectations. The experience, in all aspects, was perfect. The instructions that I need to follow are simple. The office even mailed my one eye drop that I need to take directly to my home. I feel like I am watching 4K TV in my entire life now. Spectacular! I can do my job and enjoy the beautiful world without my glasses. It was such a pleasure to have Dr. Devgan do my Lasik operation.The actual operation went very smoothly and barely took a couple of minutes! There was minimal pain during the first 12 hours and no pain afterwards. The day after, they tested me and I had 20/20 vision! I’m so happy with the results of my cataract surgery! 😊 I went from being pretty much blind on my left eye to 20/20 perfect vision the next day. It’s like waking up to a miracle! It’s unbelievably. Dr Devgan is truly a world class surgeon. It doesn’t matter where you live, if you care about your eyes, go see him now! I’m so glad I did.In my case, I’m fairly young, in my mid 30’s and one day two years ago, developed cataracts on my left eye. It was probably caused by me rubbing my eye like a maniac to try and alleviate a very bad itch I had from the seasonal allergies. When the cataract started to appear on my left eye, it was barely noticeable. I wasn’t even sure I had it and it stayed that way for a while. Then six months ago, it started growing non stop to the point where I pretty much went blind. I knew I couldn’t wait any more.After doing lots of research about cataracts and looking up countless surgeons, I couldn’t find anyone else that comes even close to him. He’s pretty much famous in the cataract community. He even has a YouTube channel and website called Cataract Coach where he explains and goes super nerd mode about techniques and tips other surgeons could use for their own surgeries. You don’t even have to be a surgeon to appreciate how much he knows about cataracts and how passionate and dedicated he is about teaching it as well. It was a no brainer decision for me.When it came time for me to see him, it didn’t take long for him to inspect me and figure out exactly what he needed to do. He used a bunch of fancy instruments to measure my eyeball and gather all the data he needed in order to give me the best possible outcome. He recommended a toric lens to also fix my astigmatism. O man, it’s working so well. Now I can see far away things even better than from my other eye.I have a newfound appreciation for everything around me. The world is so much more beautiful now that I have both eyes again.Like a grand master, Dr Devgan has the calm and confidence of someone who’s pretty much seen and operated on every conceivable case. Throughout my whole experience, it felt like I can just close both my eyes and fall backwards knowing he’ll be there to fix me.I really can’t praise him enough and can probably go on all day so I’m going to stop myself and just say one last thing, Dr Devgan is my hero, and he could be yours too! BEST cataract surgeon!I am a very particular person, so a year prior to surgery I did extensive research, received referrals and visited another cataract specialist before deciding on Dr. Devgan.In addition to being an excellent surgeon, his office staff and surgery center are also knowledgeable, warm and supportive ~ definitely a positive trickle down effect!Additionally, his website is extremely informative and fully transparent about options, associated costs and everything is included, even your eye drops.During my pre surgical appointment, Dr. Devgan took time to answer my questions and effectively alleviate any concerns, I was actually excited about my surgery. He also makes himself available to his patients and personally responds timely to his emails!The day after surgery I my eyesight was greatly improved and steadily continued to do so daily. I’m still amazed and so thankful to Dr. Devgan for restoring my sight!!! The most Precious thing in this world is Life, and Eyesight is right up there with it. Dr Devgan exceeded all of my expectations with the Lens replacement and Laser eye surgery in my Rt eye. 12 hours after surgery the new lens far exceeded my normal eye. The next day I was looking through a 40 year old eye not a 65 yr old eye. 1 week post surgery my vision is nothing short of Amazing! No halos, No shadows Only Clear Vision! Dr. Devgans abilities warrant praise.During an extensive investigation to identify the highest-rated cataract surgeon in the country, I learned of Dr. Devgan. His reputation seemed unparalleled, not only for his own skills, but as a cataract coach to top ophthalmologists worldwide.Having had 16-cut radial keratotomies (RK) in the late 70s, both of my eyes presented challenges when it came time for cataract surgery. Especially one eye, because it had the RK procedure performed three times, leaving as much as 15 diopter distortions between adjacent areas of the cornea. Dr. Devgan concluded that, short of a corneal transplant, the only realistic solution would be to insert a small aperture (1.36 mm) interocular lens (Apthera IC-8 IOL) to mask the largest portion of the astigmatism. Further, the RK cuts required the lens to be inserted through the sclera.It seemed impossible to expect good vision in this non-dominant eye, which in memory has never achieved visual acuity better than 20/40 with contacts or glasses (no matter how many optometrists tried). Additionally, the eye required retinal surgery to replace the vitreous and peel a membrane that had formed over the macula. Understandably, Dr. Devgan wanted the retinal surgery to be conducted first, to best estimate the optimal IOL power. But that proved impossible because the consulted retinal specialist could not see through the cataract to even calibrate the issue. This left Dr. Devgan with few facts to estimate a proper IOL power for the small aperture lens.The cataract surgery was performed, followed by the vitrectomy and peel ... the peel may be the first in the U.S. through the small aperture lens, which no consulted retinal expert believed could be done (yet expertly performed by Dr. Daniel Su, at Retina-Vitreous Associates in LA).Remarkably, last week another ophthalmologist confirmed the vision at 20/20. As such, Dr Devgan far exceeded my expectations (and performed surgery on the other challenged eye with similar results using a Vivity Toric IOL).Dr. Devgan is truly special.

When it became apparent I needed cataract surgery, I consulted a friend who is chief scientist with an early-stage adaptive IOL company. Initially, I had scheduled the procedure with a Kaiser surgeon, but I lacked confidence due to the complexity of my case - advanced myopia combined with developing cataract. Luckily, I found Dr. Devgans information on the internet, and I felt like I had found the right person for the surgery.My experience was incredibly smooth and actually exceeded my expectations! I have been wearing glasses since the second grade so to say that this surgery was a life changing experience is an understatement. I met with another surgeon prior to dr devgan . the experience was awful. high pressure and not informative. from my first meeting dr devgan was terrific. his online materials about choice and process allowed me to understand what i could expect. if anything at every turn he under sold what i could expect. he and his staff were excellent at every turn. that being said lets get to the punchline. i have been severely near sighted since i was a child. ultimately wearing progressive glasses for decades. the surgery was nothing less than miraculous, for me. i can now see perfectly, with the caveat of needing readers as is ubiquitous in my age group. i still cant get over of how life changing this has been for me. the dr and his team have my highest recommendation.

Dr. Devgan is very friendly and interested in answering every question that I had about the cataract surgery. He actually gives you his cell phone and lets you know that he is available to address any concerns 24/7.The surgery center is pristine and their nurses and anesthesiologist were all wonderful. The procedure is very quick and I had absolutely no knowledge that anything had happened until I woke up with incredible new vision.When I went to see Dr. Devgan a week after my procedures, he checked my eyes and let me know that I had better than 20/20 vision in both eyes. It is a huge relief as these will be for the rest of my life!I had originally gone to a different surgeon who was recommended by my optometrist. I required cataract surgery but previously had radial keratonomy (RK) performed on both eyes in the 1980s. One eye has 16 RK incisions and the other 20. A clear corneal incision could not fit between the incisions. I required a scleral tunnel incision versus the more popular clear corneal incision. Dr Devgan is one of just a handful of ophthalmologists skilled in this procedure. In addition, Dr Devgan is very proficient in calculating the correct IOL for post RK patients. After cataract surgery i see fabulous out of both eyes. I chose the vivity toric edof lense which suites me well. I highly recommend post RK patients to seek Dr Devgan out. After consulting with ophthalmologists in the Boston area i was not confident with their surgical approach. I decided to travel to Los Angeles and have Dr Devgan perform the surgery. It was well worth the extra effort. Dr Devgan has performed over a thousand cataract surgeries on post RK patients. It was pretty much a no brainer for me to choose him. I am so happy with the results. I havent seen this well in many years. If you had RK in the past, especially with 12 or more incisions on each eye, then i highly recommend you consult with Dr Devgan before making your decision. Finding Dr. Devgan feels like a miracle to me. I have 16 RK incisions with 2 lasso sutures in one eye, and 16 RK incisions in the other. I flew out to LA, CA for my cataract surgeries. Dr. Devgan did a cataract surgery on my right eye. I am very happy with the result. I have some unique eye conditions that made it hard to select right IOL. Before I met Dr. Devgan, I had a complicated case with my left eye and had to have 3 Surgeries. My right eye was the same case and I did not want to go through that many surgeries. Having worn glasses since I was 11 yr old, now 65, I was in the top 1% of worst astigmatism in the U.S. with 3.50 cyl & 4.00 cyl + had 15.5D & 16D plus nearsightedness and Cataracts clouding both of my lenses ...In other words I had very very troubled eyes .After going through 2 other eye centers exams, both left me with the impression I was nothing more than a number. Dr. Uday Devgan is an excellent ophthalmologist. He has extensive knowledge of the eye, cataracts, lenses and types of surgery needed. I saw another ophthalmologist before but felt uncomfortable and consulted Dr. Devgan due to his reputation and I am so glad I did. His bedside manner is superior; he made me feel at home in his office and at the surgery center. After my visit, I had full confidence in him and his surgical skills and this is very important as your vision is at stake.I waited for two months to write this review as now I can give a complete account of my experience. I had laser cataract surgery on my right eye done on July 26th 2021 and the left eye on August 2nd 2021. I chose the panoptic lens for both eyes. Soon after surgery my vision was clear and sharp and I could see clearly without glasses both for far and near vision. At first, it was hard working for one week with one eye with 20/20 vision and the other eye still blurred and I used to have headaches relieved by Tylenol. Then I had the second surgery, and subsequently both eyes had 20/20 vision. I had halos and starbursts when I saw lights and I also had a crescent shaped peripheral shadow on the lateral side of both eyes. This was not a surprise as Dr. Devgan prepared me for this, he said it might take 3-6 months for my eyes to adjust and they might go away or my brain will have the capacity to ignore them. I am surprised and happy that my eyes have adjusted and I don’t see the halos that often and now they are insignificant. My vision is perfect now, night vision and driving is good, except that I cannot read in dim light and need a brighter light to read menus in a dark restaurant and that I can live with.The entire experience beginning with the office visits, surgery and post op visit was wonderful. Dr. Devgan treated me like family, and that was special. I am very grateful to Dr. Devgan and his entire staff for this exceptional and compassionate care. I was referred to Dr Devgan by my friend who is an eye surgeon. He told me he sent his own mother to Dr Devgan and said I must go to him because he has seen him perform Cataract surgery and that he is the best there is. My optometrist had referred me to a different doctor and my friend said he knows the other doctor and Dr Devgan is definitely better. Come to find out later that my optometrist was receiving a referral fee by the other doctor. Dr Devgan is no less than a miracle worker. I recently had my Posterior Polar Cataracts (PPC) successfully removed by Dr Devgan. I couldn’t be happier with the results.I had spent years going from optometrist to optometrist who prescribed stronger and stronger reading glasses for what they assumed to be presbyopia. Finally, I saw an ophthalmologist who successfully diagnosed the issue as a rare form of congenital cataracts (PPC). Unfortunately, when he did, he also said it was a risky surgery, and one that he would not want to perform. Instead, he recommended me to Dr Devgan, who he said had successfully performed more of these surgeries than anyone he knew in the field.I met with Dr Devgan – and a month later, both eyes have successfully been treated and I have near perfect vision again.Here are a few things that I liked about my experience:- Dr Devgan is the real deal – his success rate in this field is incredible. He was happy to go through the risks and their probabilities (which are significantly lower than the industry numbers I read online) and about what the worst-case scenarios could look like. I was skeptical at the outset as, while my cataracts were annoying, I wasn’t prepared to risk my eyesight to remove them given the failure rates that I had read online. Having listened to him, I was completely reassured and booked the surgery for the following Monday.- Dr Devgan explained complex details of my condition and the treatment in very simple terms and if I had any further concerns or questions, he gave me his personal cell to call at any time.He has posted a host of information and videos online detailing anything you might want to know about your condition and the treatment.- The surgery was completely painless – I mean ZERO pain. And the whole thing took 5-10 minutes in the operating theatre and I was home 30 mins after that.- Everything was quick and efficient – 1-2 days lead time for the initial consultation organized by the uber-friendly office staff. After the initial consultation, we scheduled surgery within a week for the first eye and then the second eye a few weeks after that.Recovery time was fast – I was back to working at my PC within an hour or two and while the sight in the operated eye was slightly blurry that afternoon – by the next morning, my eyesight was perfect.All in all, a great experience - thank you Dr Devgan!

My experience getting double cataract surgery with Dr Devgan was excellent. I did a ton of research on this subject and got a second opinion with another expert at the advise of a friend. I drove from out of state and had to pay a bit more but it was all worth it to put my trust into Dr Devgan’s care for my eyes. He did both at the same time(that was advised against by others, but I trusted him to do it well and he did) I was happy to not have to endure the process twice as well. The surgery was fast and painless. The recovery was a day of rest and one drop into each eye 3x/day for 2 weeks, followed by one drop a day til empty. My friends have multiple drops at various times and find that stressful.I got the Panoptics lenses and the downside to them is the halos at night. I read about those prior, but found them to be not a big deal. They are smaller than I had imagined. Also, I am barely into this and it is anticipated that 6mo-1year along I will adapt to that further. It is a small bother at this point. Nothing to limit my night driving. I do see well without glasses from about 12” to far away. I had worn prescription glasses for 44 years so this is really fun, not needing glasses anymore!Dr Devgan also took care of my astigmatism with a small laser cut/adjustment.Dr Devgan is state of the art in all his ways. He is an eye nerd, in the very best sense. He is brilliant and highly skilled. He is also a kind and caring human with lots of compassion and patience. I was told by my ophthalmologist 7 months ago that my right eye needed cataract surgery and a new prescription could no longer improve my vision. I suffered from myopic astigmatism since age of 10 and could not drive comfortably let alone watch a movie in a theatre.I researched online (a lot on you tube) to learn as much as I could about cataract replacement but became very confused. Which types of lens? Which visual zones? Which brand? Which surgeon? The surgeons online were helpful explaining the pros and cons of each but with so many choices and options, I became paralyzed to make a decision, especially when I learned that I basically have only one shot making the right decision.I did see a surgeon for a consultation recommended by my doctor that was in her medical group but felt scared and pressured. There were so many patients there and so many young interns around. The office felt like a mill. When I met the surgeon, he looked tired. I wanted to limit my questions since he seemed busy, but his answers were short, robotic and not personal at all. He recommended distance zone and with certain IOL brand as with all his patients without letting me speak what was important for me. He seemed a little irritated when I asked about other types of lens and other brands I learned online. My experience, as a patient who visited Dr. Uday Devgan, MD, for cataract removal and lens replacement surgery, was that he considers all aspects of the patient experience and addresses these in great detail. His educational video, Patient Guide for Cataract Surgery Lens Implant Options, available on You Tube and suggested to me by his Surgery Coordinator, Jodi, as basic preparation for my first consult appointment, communicated to me better than other information sources I had viewed or read, what I could realistically expect from surgery. Two years prior to my surgery with Dr. Devgan, I had a cataract removed and a panoptic lens implanted in my right eye, but I failed to ask my doctor the right questions at that time. That was because I did not know exactly what to ask. Because my surgery outcome at that time was disappointing, I firmly believe in excellent patient education. Dr. Devgans first appointment with me included sophisticated measurements of my eyes on site. Dave, who conducted these assessments, was efficient and put me at ease.Minutes afterward, I met with Dr. Devgan who was able to show me images of my eye. Dr. Devgan is absolutely the BEST in 360 degrees. He is my 10-star doctor. Besides being an extremely skilled surgeon, I find he is also a very kind, caring and diligent doctor based on my recent (April and June 2022) cataract surgery experience with Dr. Devgan and his awesome team.I’m a high-risk patient with high myopia (-16D) and always feel nervous going for eye exam. At the measurement visit, Dr. Devgan showed me the machine calculations and explained it’s a little bit off for high myopia patients. He’ll use a software to recalculate again for accuracy. The software uses the actual patient’s data sent to the database by eye surgeons across the nations. Dr Devgan is the owner of the software. Dr. Devgan recommended a target vision and explained why. It’s different from the target I had in mind. I chose to go with my target at the visit since I’ve thought about the target I want for so long. Dr. Devgan said he’ll do my target and I can change mind anytime. Later on, I realized doctor’s recommendation is better and emailed Dr. Devgan to change the target. Looking back now, I’m glad I changed to the target that’s recommended by the doctor. My vision now exceeds my expectation! I recommend Dr. Devgan very highly. I contacted him originally because I was unhappy with my interactions with two other cataract surgeons with whom I had met. I learned from them that I am an outlier: I have long eyes, which should have made me shortsighted, but my corneas are so flat that I was in fact farsighted. This is an unusual combination. These surgeons told me frankly that they could not make any predictions about how my vision would turn out after surgery, which made me uneasy. As it turns out, Dr. Devgan has done a great deal of research on lens choice, including for eyes of unusual geometry such as mine. The results after surgery are just what I hoped for: I have perfect distance vision and first-rate visual acuity. Not many surgeons could have achieved this happy result, I believe.I was particularly pleased with Dr. Devgans responses to my questions about choice of lenses. I have a fair grasp of geometric optics, which I studied in my training as an engineer, and I wanted to make an informed choice based on an understanding of the optics involved. After my vision in my left eye was heavily compromised by a cataract, I went to a local eye surgeon hoping to have cataract surgery. When he told me I had significant adhesions (synechiae) and a membrane in that eye that had stuck part of my lens to my iris and would complicate my surgery, it seemed to me as though he didn’t have much experience in dealing with a situation like that.So I decided to go to a complex cataract expert at a famous eye clinic, expecting to be reassured that he could handle it. But he shocked and frightened me by explaining that my adhesions were so extensive that there was a very good chance my surgery would fail. “Don’t worry,” he added, “if that happens you can have a more extensive surgery or surgeries to fix it.” This doctor talked at such great length about failure that my apprehension grew, and he also refused to give me any idea what my chances of success might be, or what those extra surgeries might involve.I felt lost. My vision was altered surgically by an eye surgeon who misdiagnosed my eye problem and proceeded to surgically implanted the WRONG INTRAOCULAR LENS. Not only was the wrong lens implanted but also the wrong power of the lens that my eye needed. After this initial surgery to remove my cataract, my vision became worse. I could not see clearly at all. My vision was blurry and the first surgeon had no idea how to fix the problem. Since my hubby had used the prescription drug Flomax, we were advised by our local ophthalmologist that Flomax could cause eye complications for my hubby when having cataract surgery. I am so happy with my decision to have Dr. Devgan operate to remove my cataracts. I am a Kaiser member so Dr. Devgan was outside my insurance but I was very unhappy with the outcome when a Kaiser surgeon operated on my right eye. The surgeon didnt believe in toric lenses, despite my astigmatism. As a result, although in a certain sense I could see, after the operation my right eye never saw clearly, even with reading glasses. I was afraid that for the rest of my life I would have unclear vision, and although I could cope (which is what I assume most people do in that situation) I would never be comfortable that I could see.After being dissatisfied with the result of my right eye surgery, I went to a second surgeon at Kaiser for my left eye, who was going to insert a toric lens. However, I decided against going ahead with him partially because he told me what a great job the prior surgeon had done and partially because he advised me of reasons why my vision would be not be perfect after the operation. However, another (retired) surgeon at Kaiser referred me to Dr. Devgan. I didnt know what to think because Dr. Devgan never made any excuses as to why the outcome would not be good, but at the same time he was honest in telling me that with surgery in general there are no absolute guarantees. As a layperson, I had to give much thought to which surgeon I would select. Ultimately, after a detailed thought process (including details I am not including for purposes of this review), I decided on Dr. Devgan, and it was an excellent decision. Believe it or not I had 20-15 vision in my left eye on the day following the surgery. It really seems too good to be true but thats my personal experience. And, I found out in the process of figuring out the problems with my right eye, that my eyes are too large or deep for conventional measurement of the replacement lenses, so selection of the replacement lens has to be somewhat estimated. However, Dr. Devgan did not bring this up or use it as an excuse and the results are excellent despite this unusual variable in my eye surgery.

I got a list of Cataract Surgeons from my insurance company and went to one in Long Beach first which was closer to me. I went in for a consultation and received a diagnosis but wanted a second opinion, so I decided to see if Yelp would have reviews and found Dr Devgan through LA Sight receiving great reviews. I did my research and booked an appointment. The day of my consultation I was greeted with a friendly staff and didn’t wait long to get started. It’s taken me almost 5 months to write this review following my left eye surgery with Dr Devgan. The reason is that I wanted to be 100% convinced that I was completely satisfied and that my eye was functioning correctly with enough time to heal. I am a 30 year old who was very long-sighted in both eyes and was informed that laser surgery would not be the best option for me. I decided to go with intraocular lens surgery.I am a very special case for reviewing Dr Devgan and that’s because I’ve had the rare opportunity to experience 2 completely different eye surgeons. I can compare the work of 2 surgeons who take the top positions on Yelp. So if you’re picking between Dr Paul C Lee (CCRS) and Dr Devgan I suggest to go for Dr Devgan and DO NOT hesitate. He may be more expensive but he is the best and here’s why I believe that to be the truth..I had my first eye surgery in 2018 with Dr Paul C Lee (CCRS). I wanted to do one eye at a time to make sure I was happy with the process of healing. The experience with this surgery left me pretty terrified to commit to doing surgery on my left eye later down the line. The cost for this surgery with Dr Lee was $4.5k.During the surgery with Dr Lee there was no anesthetist. I didn’t realize that an anesthetist would be so important to feeling calm and at ease - something that Dr Devgan factors into his surgery (read further on for why this is important). The day of the surgery Dr Lee and his assistants forgot to offer me any Valium until the very last moment when I had to ask for it myself having waited hours for my time to be operated on. During this time I had to drop different eye drops in my eye and sign some papers. Then I was led into a room that had a chair and a light above it but the Valium hadn’t even kicked in yet. I found the procedure to be excruciatingly uncomfortable and I whimpered throughout the 20-25min operation. I clenched my whole body with anxiety. I wouldn’t feel any pain thanks to the drops but I was completely terrified being fully awake and aware.Since then that eye has the ability to see, however, the eye is slightly overcorrected and I’m also left with a large floater which is VERY annoying and hasnt disappeared 2 years later. I am told there’s nothing much they can do about the floater and that these things can occur. It’s quite annoying and the floater moves around the eye like a large dirty / greasy patch in my eye whenever I look in different directions.The urge to get my left eye done increased but after being dissatisfied by my experience with Dr Lee I sought the advice of my eye doctor who suggested I meet DR DEVGAN the best eye surgeon in the world according to my eye doctor.Dr Devgan charged $400 (approx) for a consultation, this seemed like a lot of money but I had done my research and he seemed VERY VERY qualified to work on my eye. I met with him and brought along my records from Dr Lee’s surgery. I was thrilled that Dr Devgan was confident that he could do a much better job and I was comforted by him telling me that I had found the right place. Thank god! I felt like I was in the right hands finally. I booked my operation for the next week and was given eye drops to take leading up to that day. I was so excited!On the day of the surgery with Dr Devgan and I was seen almost straight away when I entered the building. There was a lovely team working with Dr Devgan who made me feel so relaxed and happy! The anesthetist used Twilight anesthesia on me so I was SUPER SUPER calm and relaxed the whole way through. It was bliss!!! I couldn’t believe how quick the surgery took. It felt like less than 8mins and the recovery only took like a day!! I was even more happy when I met Dr Devgan the next day. He got much closer to hitting the right mark in getting my prescription almost on point. I can see very well and Im so grateful that I found this guy! Don’t save money when your eyes are involved. On a scale of 1 to 10, it is a definite 10 for Dr. Uday Devgan.It all started on the dreaded day when I failed my DMV vision test. Later, a visit to a local ophthalmologist checked and confirmed that I had cataracts in both eyes. What a sinking feeling, that I not only had cataracts but dense brunescent cataracts. I realized I could no longer hold on to my birth given original lenses and I did not want to go blind eventually, if they were left untreated. Having heard from friends how well and easy cataracts surgeries are, I went with a local doctor to remove the cataract in my left eye. What a big mistake! I was in pain. My operated left eye was red and my vision blurry for many weeks. Months have passed and I still have lingering ache in my left eye and other issues.I asked myself and my husband, Now what? I developed a cataract in my right eye and as it worsened, I knew that the only alternative was to have it surgically removed. However, the thought of eye surgery terrified me. First, the summary: Dr. Devgan is terrific and I would absolutely select him again as my cataract surgeon. I am a Medicare-age academic who has always had poor eyesight. Over the past few years, it got significantly worse. I was apprehensive about any kind of ocular surgery but found that if I wanted to continue working and driving, cataract surgery was Step 1. After this decision, I learned there are many kinds of intraocular lenses and thus many choices. Adding to the complication, new lenses are being developed and I had no way of comparing one to the other.Dr. Devgan was highly recommended by an East Coast cataract specialist who is related to a friend of mine. I arranged an initial meeting and was completely convinced. If you need cataract surgery, I can’t imagine a better experience. His staff are terrific. He has all the diagnostic technology in his office, so you don’t have to make multiple trips to different locations to get the required information. Moreover, I had learned enough by then to know that he and his staff really understand this procedure—all the options as well as what is possible and what is not. After the first visit, Dr. Devgan was always available to answer questions. I had lots of them and as I learned more about cataracts and intraocular lenses I had more. When I sent him emails he always responded within a day and usually within a few hours. By the time of the two surgeries, I felt completely comfortable with my decisions. Both eyes have healed well. I did a lot of research before I had my cataract surgery and found there are many excellent surgeons in this city. But I doubt that any are as warm, caring, and as qualified as Dr. Devgan. He told me what to expect and how long it would take and answered every question I had. With dozens of qualified ophthalmologists in LA the decision who to go with is a tough choice. Most of them probably have the latest eye measuring machines and the latest optics. I’m really lucky to have met Dr. Devgan and his team.Six months ago I had a retinal detachment in my left eye, and l’ve got a successful vitrectomy surgery in my country (Chile). For years I searched for a ophthalmologist who understood the issues, challenges, and struggles a person with high myopia and high astigmatism faces – in my case -15.75 & cyl -3.75. When it came time to consider cataract surgery, I found by accident Uday’s Cataract Coach for Doctors” on YouTube. I contacted him immediately and he wrote back the next day that he could help. During our first consult, Uday mapped out what my options were and the risks and results I could expect. Im conversant with my eye issues and appreciated that Uday engaged in conversation that was both helpful and technical. I wanted all the information and he happily gave it to me, plus answered any and all questions I had. Uday used his extensive experience, not just computer recommendations, to hand pick the correct lenses for my situation and I believe his process will be covered in a new Cataract Coach video. I was still worried about the first surgery, but after a few more conversations with Uday, I moved forward. During my recovery I kept it touch via text which was reassuring. He often texted back in minutes. The end result? A month after surgery I easily see 20/25 and can see 20/20 with both eyes. The last time I read the 20/20 line, I was in 3rd grade. The bummer-I lost the high myopia microscopic vision that is the only advantage of being so near-sighted. I thank my optometrist for recommending Dr. Devgan for my cataract surgery. My eyesight had been afflicted by nearsightedness and astigmatism from early childhood. The very efficient examination by Dr. Devgan and his staff supported my optometrist’s recommendation. As an ophthalmologist myself, I chose Dr. Uday Devgan to perform my LASIK procedure because he is known in our profession to have the best outcomes and lowest complications. Dr. Devgan is not only known for having gifted surgical hands, but he also trains ophthalmology residents, so he is always on the cutting edge of our field.My experience with Dr. Devgan and his office was absolutely perfect. Dr. Devgan has a fantastic bedside manner. At my pre-op appointment I met all of his staff who immediately made me feel comfortable and at ease. Dr. Devgans surgical planning was precise and spot on. Coordinating my appointments with his staff was pleasant and flexible. I cannot emphasize enough how wonderful his staff were, and I only wish I could steal them away to work at my office one day. Any ophthalmologist would be lucky to have them!On the day of my surgery, my refraction was double checked, I was given a light sedative, and given time to relax in a massage chair in a pre-op room. Once I was ready, I was invited into the OR suite. Dr. Devgan has a very unique setup in his OR suite that allows the surgical bed to pivot between the lasers, allowing for a seamless transition for the patient between the laser for the flap creation and the laser for the ablation. As far as I know, his is the only practice to employ such a method and it is genius!!! After experiencing it myself I am convinced that this should be a standard setup at all LASIK offices. Dr. Devgan and his staff made me feel at ease throughout the procedure, which was over almost before it had begun! For me it felt like it only lasted 2 minutes from the moment I lay down on the bed to the moment I stood back up. There was no pain.After coming home and taking a nap, my vision was great! I walked to the grocery store that night and marveled at my new visual acuity. I kept waiting to feel dryness or pain, but only every experienced a mild foreign body sensation that disappeared after 24 hrs.At my follow up appointment the next day I was able to easily read the 20/15 line and even some of the 20/10 line. I felt like I had eagle eyes! Dr. Devgan nailed our target exactly because my new prescription was measured to be plano (0.00 both eyes). Goodbye contacts and glasses! I have been enjoying my stunning vision ever since.In short, Dr. Devgan is an amazing surgeon, and even his fellow surgeons think so. If you need LASIK or cataract surgery, he is your doctor. My previous Opthalmologist had told me I had Narrow Angle Glaucoma caused by the shape of my eyeball changing with my far-sightedness, and exacerbated by the thickening of my natural lenses with cataracts. It could constrict the flow of fluid inside the eye, leading to pressure build-up in the eye resulting in nerve damage. He recommended performing a cataract surgery that replaces the thickened natural lens with a much thinner plastic lens. I was given a couple of pages of options in multi-focus lenses and could choose to use the femto second laser for accurate cutting of the eyeball, all with very high prices. like $3200 per eye for lenses and $1700.00 per eye for the laser. I felt I needed some guidance.I went online I started looking for the best eye surgeons, and found Dr. Devgan had hundreds of great reviews online. Later my wife and I went to visit some close friends The topic of the eye surgery came up and my friend said he had had cataract surgery a couple of years earlier and really liked his surgeon and the whole staff in the office. The surgeons name? Dr. Devgan.I went in for the second opinion appointment and was really pleased with the friendliness of the whole staff of the office, which is mentioned in most of the reviews online, and which is indicative of an efficient and happy environment. I had barely completed my paperwork before I was photographed and measured by a technician using six or eight machines and kindly explained what each measurement was for.I Met with Dr. Devgan in his office. He also is very open and friendly and full of positive energy. In our conversation, he asked me what I wanted as the outcome of the surgery. I said I wanted the clearest, sharpest vision possible and hoped to have at least some flexibility of focus. He then told me that there is a certain amount of refraction in all the current multifocal lenses that can cause halos around lights and issues with driving at night, a problem that another friend of mine has. In the end, I went with his suggestion of single focus lenses for clear distance vision and use of reading glasses for close up focus. That is what I had done at 42 when my close focus vision failed. At age 60 even street signs were out of focus and I wore glasses or contacts full time. I feel comfortable that Dr. Devgan helped me find the best solution for my eyes.For my first surgery. I went into the surgery Center in the morning, then was taken into the prep area. All of the nurses introduced themselves and explained everything they were doing, the IV, the oxygen sensor, etc. Dr. Devgan came in and said hello and explained all the elements of the surgery and that I might see some bright flashes, but that I wouldnt feel anything. Everyone asked me which eye was being operated on (the right) and they marked an X above my right eyebrow so there could be no mistake.When I came out of surgery, Dr. Devgan said everything had gone quite well and that the next day I would be able to drive myself to my post-op appointment, The next day the vision in my right eye was as if looking through layers of fine gauze and the contrast turned low. I put a contact lens in my left eye and I had no problem seeing. I was given clear, large print instructions for the three different eye drops including when and how to administer them.The second eye surgery was completed a week later, no pain, no real discomfort, the vision was a bit slower clearing up, but it is totally satisfactory nowDr. Devgan told me the new lenses are in place but that the muscle tissue has to shrink around them for some months before some minor visual flashes will go away. after a few days I already had very clear distance vision in both eyes.I feel that Dr. Uday Devgan is a truly great eye surgeon who loves his work and is supported by an excellent staff.

Total time at the surgery center each time was about two hours, and the care was great, especially the nursing, anesthesia, and Dr. Devgans pre-op briefing. Dr. Devgan removed my cataract and replaced it with a man-made toric lens that compensated for the astigmatism in my cornea. I had the surgery the day before yesterday and my vision is shockingly good. I had very high expectations and the results far exceed my expectations.At my first visit, Dr. Devgan spent a lot of time explaining exactly what was going to happen and how the astigmatism was in my biological lens and in my cornea. I asked a lot of questions (Im an engineer) and he cheerfully answered all of them. He spent plenty of time with me and I never felt rushed at all. When the time came to have cataract surgery, I went to Dr. Devgan. At the office exam, there were comprehensive eye evaluation tests. All I had to do was sit in front of various machines to get the results. Thereafter, Dr. Devgan checked my eyes and took pictures of my cataracts which was fascinating to see, reviewed the results, explained the issues and answered all my questions. I scheduled the surgery and was provided with detailed pre-op and post-op instructions.The cataract surgery was at a surgery center in Beverly Hills. I first consulted with Dr. Devgan in 2010 when he carried out cataract surgery on both eyes (separately) with premium multi-focus lens implants into each eye.Dr. Devgan is very caring and quite charming, he really made me feel at ease and confident for the surgery and from my perspective (as the patient) the procedure was amazingly simple, very quick and pain free. Its been 4 months since my cataract surgery with Dr. Devgan. I wanted to wait a while to be able to give a full perspective on my experience before writing this review.To begin, Dr. Devgan is at the absolute top of his field. He is an incredibly busy man, but will take the time to discuss your needs and provide thoughtful answers to your questions. His office staff was a little weak on communication, at least with me, and failed to provide the pre-appointment reading material. His office is equipped with the absolute state-of-the-art equipment for precise measurement of the eye parameters needed to provide the optimum replacement lenses.In my case, I had astigmatism in both eyes as well as rather serious impairment from cataracts. I was surprised to learn that the surgery center simply stocks lenses with every astigmatism prescription, so theres no wait to obtain customized lenses.I chose the Vivity lenses because I work with a computer a lot ant wanted to have clear enough vision to work without glasses. The result is that indeed, I can read my computer screen and more generally, normal size text, without classes, and there are no halos or other weird optical effects. Overall it has been a good experience, but now with the experience of hindsight, I think I would have preferred the simple single-focus interocular lenses. Why? I was accustomed to wearing glasses anyway, and after the surgery I got a new prescription for progressive lens glasses. Quite a mild prescription, that improves my vision at all distances compared to unaided vision, so its easier to read. At the same time, my distance vision could have been more clear with the standard lens. I am interested in astronomy and feel like that interest would be better served with the standard lenses, and I could just wear glasses (as I do anyway) for reading and working at my computer. Thats not to say Im dissatisfied with the results though: I would say my vision is perfectly adequate, and as-advertised. Overall I am thrilled with the results.The very first thing I noticed after the surgery was how much richer and more saturated were the colors of everytthing around me. Thats a joy that has continued every day since. I was also amazed how clear the vision from my right eye was, since it had always been the weaker eye (due to higher astigmatism). For reasons unknown, the left eye is not as clear, and also varies, sometimes being quite clear and other times blurry. Another effect, unanticipated, is how my vastly improved vision affected my overall mood, addressing a sort of depression I didnt fully realize I had. I actually felt a couple of inches taller too.In summary, I think Dr. Devgan is the best surgeon you could have, and whichever option you choose, your only regret will be not having the surgery sooner.

My eyes are considered very high risk for cataracts surgery due to my extreme near-sightedness (-18 on both eyes). My niece, in Palo Alto, California, is an ophthalmologist who specializes in cataract & cornea surgeries, recommended Dr. Devgan to me and said he is one of the very best in Los Angeles.I visited Dr. Devgan and he put me at ease right a way. Dr. Devgan performed a cataract IOL replacement surgery on my right eye 2 years ago, and he had my highest praise on his surgical skills and professionalism. My right eye still sees as clearly as it did two years ago with absolutely no issue at all. When my left eye is up I will definitely go back to Dr. Devgan for surgery. But this review is about something else.In the last two years, there were two occasions that I have concerns about my eye sight ( nothing related to the cataract procedure) and I emailed Dr. Devgan for advice. In both times Dr. Devgan answered my email personally within half an hour and provided referral to a retina specialist, who also contacted me personally the same day and have his secretary made an appointment with me the following day for check ups. At the last visit the retina specialist find two small holes in my retina and immediately repair it before any damage can occur. Dr. Devgan changed my life!At 45 years of age, night driving became very difficult for me, I assumed I needed a new prescription for my glasses. To my dismay it was cataracts. The thought of having cataract surgery at my age was scary. I lost my right eye in a skiing accident in 1964. I am a pilot and I am very protective of my one eye. I started having difficulty with night driving and I was having problems reading signs at normal distances. A long but important review. PLEASE READ: Words cannot begin to express our gratitude for Dr. Devgans kindness and skills. My husband has been through a horrendous 5 months having an infection of the inner lining of his heart. It came on very suddenly and we were told he could die. Fortunately, he didnt! But after a month in ICU (followed by a total of another two months in ICU and post critical care) he had complication after complication. With his heart infection he also ended up with terrible vision issues-everything was horribly blurry. A visit to a retina specialist said that for some reason my husband developed terrible cataracts in both eyes. One eye was 20/400 (pretty much blind). Needing a cataract surgeon, Dr. Devgan came highly recommended by two very trusted sources (an optometrist and a retina specialist). A couple of surgeons were recommended by our optometrist who knows my husband very well after 25 years of care, said he thought that my husband would most appreciate Dr. Devgans bedside manner. And was he right! Dr. Devgan is not just a cataract surgeon. He is a kind, caring, compassionate and brilliant man. Very special. Most doctors these days seem in a hurry. Not Dr. Devgan. Hes calm, takes his time to explain exactly what is going on and what to expect from the surgery. At the surgery center Dr. Devgan came over and spent an extraordinary amount of time comforting us. Hes just such a warn, authentic person. We went to the 2nd follow up appointment yesterday and Dr. Devgan was genuinely excited with the my husbands improvement. He showed the genuine excitement of little kid - just really excited with the improvement in my husbands vision. One eye is now 20/40 and will likely be 20/20. Incredible. Its still too soon for an accurate read on the eye just fixed this week but we have every reason to be optimistic. He gave my husband reading glasses and for the first time since September my husband could read!!! I was beside myself. It was so emotional. Tonight watching TV I was reading captions to my husband and he said thats okay, I can read it. I was beyond ecstatic.Dr.Devgan is an amazing cataract surgeon. AMAZING. Seeing my husbands before and after cataract pictures are truly remarkable. His new lenses are sparkling clear. Dr. Devgan is a great surgeon, but thats not where it ends. He is a man who truly loves what he does and cares deeply for his patients. Knowing what my husband has been though, Dr. Devgan went the extra mile to show such kindness and sincere care.I can give Dr. Devgan the highest recommendation: Im going to have him fix my cataract! I can give no higher recommendation. Hes a special man and an incredible surgeon. The office staff is also top notch. Little wait time and lots of attention. If you need a cataract fixed dont hesitate to go to Dr. Devgan. He is a special man. Recommendation without hesitation or reservation!!! Just the best!

Nearly a year ago, Dr. Devgan performed cataract surgery on my right eye. Nothing speaks better for my total satisfaction with the results or my confidence in Dr. Devgan than the fact that a week ago I turned to him again for a similar procedure on my left eye. As before, everything went perfectly, from the precisely-on-time, smoothly-performed initial tests using what seemed to me like state-of-the-art technology by the doctor’s professional team, to his precise explanations of every step of the surgery, to the excellent, comforting care I received pre-op, to the amazing, literally eye-opening results.

I have been aware from some time that I should have cataract surgery in both eyes, but continued to put it off for quite some time – it is a daunting decision to let someone operate on your eyes, and the market is flooded by medical professionals touting their expertise, affordability, speed of procedure, and patient satisfaction.So much to wade through, but I realized my cataracts were starting to impact my quality of life – primarily not being able to drive at night, or identify details of objects on the other side of the room. Accordingly, I started my research. Because of high ratings almost everywhere, Dr. Uday Devgan’s practice was one of the first I called. Although I investigated 4-5 other practices as options, my first strong impression of Dr. Devgan was one of a high level of professional competency (one that was born out through the entire process) and this led me to a quick decision to have him perform these two procedures.This is turning out to be one of the best medical decisions I have made. As of this writing, I have had the right eye done and am having the left eye done in a few days. Beyond the amazing success of the procedure – within 24 hours the vision of my right eye had exceeded my expectations and continues to improve – the overall experience deserves a very, very high rating and recommendation.And, it was all made so very easy – very light sedation, zero pain (not even any discomfort), done in a professional, efficient, modern outpatient facility (also owned by Dr. Devgan and his partners).
