Our experience with Dr. Stephen Wells and his team was nothing short of exceptional! As first-time parents, we were naturally anxious, but from the moment we arrived, we felt in capable and caring hands. Gabbie, who was present on delivery day, was phenomenal. Her warmth and professionalism put us at ease instantly. Dr. Wells himself was a constant presence, checking in on us throughout the process and ensuring everything was progressing smoothly. We are deeply grateful for the outstanding care we received and highly recommend Dr. Wells and his team to anyone seeking compassionate and professional obstetric care.

Dr. Wells and his entire team is hands down amazing! I am a first time mom and Dr. Wells delivered my beautiful healthy boy! I could not have asked for a better support team to get me through it. Had two successful C-section deliveries and amazing care by Dr. Wells and his team every step of the way. Had a complication after second C-section and Dr. Wells truly saved my life when the ER staff would do nothing to address my hemorrhage. You are in safe, capable hands with this office.

The best experience!!!!! I had two months to go with my pregnancy when our health insurance had to change. Ive had Kaiser my whole life and was very upset I had to go somewhere else and not have my doctors and find new ones. Especially for my pregnancy, the last months of it. The very first visit was emotional trying to keep it together. I met with my the first Nurse Practitioner and broke down at the end and she was wonderful, answered all my questions, caring and understanding. Every nurse after that has been amazing. Finally met Dr. Wells and just as the others he was just the same and made me feel comfortable. I also liked that I had multiple people, plus my sister that have seen him and that have done their c-sections and spoke great about him. Rave reviews. Long story long. :) He did a awesome job delivering our little girl by c-section and with the incision. The incision line is way smoother and straighter than my first childs at kaiser. He did a great job! Very grateful for him and his team for making my transition so smooth and taking good care of me/my pregnancy. Also dont want to forget to thank the front desk ladies. They were very helpful with dealing with all the paperwork, transferring over and making all my pregnancy appointments. Always great about answering questions I needed answered. Big thank you to Dr.Wells and the whole team. Very happy how this all went from the beginning. :)

Received really wonderful care during my pregnancy! The office staff and nurses are really kind and friendly, and I enjoyed meeting with all their different practitioners throughout my pregnancy. Our birth with Amanda was absolutely delightful- she was so cheerful, calm, and knowledgeable and it was my best birth and recovery by far!

We have recently brought home our beautiful, healthy and snuggly triple rainbow baby. In great thanks and appreciation for Dr. Wells and his team. We’ve had a long journey, and they have helped us with each step along the way. The front office staff is helpful and kind, the nurses and midwives (we worked specifically with Gabbie, and Nicole) are respectful, knowledgeable, gentle and empathetic. Dr. Wells has a very relaxed demeanor that on many occasions put both my own and my husbands worries at ease. He answered our questions with on the point answers simple enough to explain to the grandparents but also with data to make both of us feel that we had all the information. On delivery day we worked with Midwife Nicole who is knowledgeable, energetic, confident, reassuring, kind, and also funny exactly when I needed her to be. After laboring naturally, an emergency c section was needed for the safety of our child and myself. Along with the staff at John Muir Hospital, my family has Dr.Wells, Nicole and their team to thank for the health and survival of our family. We couldn’t be more grateful. Despite that the delivery was more dramatic than we anticipated, we felt strongly that we had a capable team on our side, looking out for us so in moments when we felt out of control, it helped us to feel secure and supported. Our birth story is one of a handful of the most major moments in our lives, how our beautiful daughter dramatically entered the world and completed our family, but for Dr Wells and staff, this is just what they do… every day. ♥️🌱♥️

Simply put, Dr.Wells saved my life. A few years ago, I had a molar pregnancy that turned into cancer which quickly spread to my lungs. The pathologist did not catch it. It was Dr.Wells who sent my labs back because he was certain he spotted an abnormality. Had he not caught it when he did, I would not be alive today. My oldest daughter would not have a mom and my youngest daughter wouldn’t even exist. Thanks to the care I received at Dr.Wells’ office, I have a beautiful family and count my blessings everyday!

My doctor retired & it was time for my dreaded annual exam. They’re awkward enough, but having one with a new provider is a new level of uncomfortable….but not at this office!The front staff was welcoming and friendly, and the back office even more so. Dr Wells has been a pillar of the Ob-Gyn community in WC for over 30 years & his warm friendliness showed he loves what he does and cares for his patients.The appt went smoothly and quickly &I’m very happy I found their office.

I was referred to Dr. Wells by my PCP, and from the moment I walked into the office I was greeted by his warm and friendly staff. The office was pleasant and cozy. I didnt have to wait but a few minutes until I was called back to a room. His PAs, and RNs are all very nice and cheery as well. Dr. Wells came in and made me feel immediately at ease and comfortable with him. He has a very laid back, while still being professional, demeanor. I never felt rushed or like I was being a burden for asking questions. He even got my weird sense of humor. I am so lucky that I was referred to such a great doctor, office and staff!!

I can’t express how amazing Dr. Wells and his team are! My first son was delivered by Dr. Wells and he is such a calm presence and makes you feel so safe. He encouraged my husband to watch the birth and my husband could not be more grateful. He still talks about amazing it was watching our little boy come into the world. Love Dr wells!! I also love all the midwives but I’ve had the opportunity to really get to know Gabbie with my second pregnancy and she is just so special. From the moment I met her she made me feel like a friend and I decided to book all my appts with her. Gabbie was able to deliver my son and I immediately knew my little boy would be in the best hands! She was so knowledgeable, attentive and reassuring.. just exactly who you need in that moment! 100% recommend Dr. Wells and his team.

Dr. Wells and his staff, the nurses, and midwives are so wonderful! I find myself getting emotional even writing this review as I have grown so attached to his office and the incredible team who took care of me during my first pregnancy. In all honesty, I was worried that I had not met Dr. Wells at any of my prenatal appointments, and was somewhat nervous about going into labor not knowing who would be delivering my baby. However, after having several appointments with Nicole and Gabbie, I was instantly at ease and was just happy knowing that one of them could potentially be there when the time came. Nicole and Gabbie are both such down-to-earth, easy to talk to, caring, and compassionate midwives, and I always felt so comfortable at each of my appointments with them. Gabbie was by my side for the first day I was in labor, and Nicole was with us during my C-section delivery two days later. Although my first time meeting Dr. Wells was minutes before my unplanned c-section, his calm demeanor put me and my husband at ease, and the delivery went smoothly! For a first time pregnancy where I didn’t know what to expect, what questions to ask, or frankly, what the heck I was doing, I never once felt scared or unprepared to give birth because I knew I was in such great, capable hands, and I’m sure that’s why this practice comes so highly recommended! As expecting mothers, women want to feel seen and heard, and not just like another patient, and that’s what’s so special about Dr. Wells and his team of caregivers. I’m really looking forward to returning sometime soon when we have another baby on the way!

I had the worst experience at this practice. My first impression was a paper out of many they handed me requesting to not email or call the office with questions… to save my questions until my next in office appointment. This is my first pregnancy and to be welcomed to a new office with this as the lead was so bizarre to me and unwelcoming. I had about 6 appointments, none with Dr. wells himself. Each appointment was very rushed and quick after waiting over an hour for them to start. It felt like a factory. The reason for this review is because I got Covid in the beginning of my second trimester. I was very sick and woke up one morning with difficulty breathing. It was an hour before his office opened and I was really worried about my dropping oxygen level and wanted some advice, so I called and he was so rude to me. He told me it’s “the weirdest thing he’s heard all year that I have an oximeter and was measuring my oxygen levels.” I was taken aback by his abrasive and condescending demeanor. Not once did he reassure me my baby was okay. He just made me feel stupid for even being concerned. He then proceeded to tell me if my oxygen was low I’d feel like I’m dying and goto the emergency room… umm yeah I’d like to avoid that…. With zero advice and zero solutions I hung up the phone feeling helpless and more uneasy than before I called. An hour later, my primary doctor told me to keep an eye on my oxygen and that it’s great I had an at home test. I don’t know why dr wells thought this was so outrageous… especially being pregnant. I switched doctors and I will not be going back to this practice. He is very popular in the pregnancy world but I think his arrogance has gotten the best of him.

I had a very terrible experience with Jodi, NP. As a nurse practitioner myself, I often prefer seeing other NPs and this facility came highly recommended. Our appointment was rushed, she did not leave space for asking questions, and when I did ask questions, it was clear she did not have the experience or knowledge to appropriately address my concerns. She was very dismissive and rushed out the door within 5 minutes, leaving all my concerns I came in with completely unanswered. She also did not create a comfortable environment needed for gynecology appointments. I requested my yearly lab work, and she said I should go to my primary care doctor for that. I cannot speak to the other providers in this practice, but I would not recommend seeing Jodi. A very disappointing experience overall.

I just had my first appointment with Doctor Wells and I’m beyond impressed. This was the best patient experience I’ve ever had with a medical practitioner. I’ve never had a Doc sit down with me for that long to simply answer all questions with a thorough explanation. My daughter turned 5 years old last week. It’s taken me this long to come to terms with the fact that Dr. Wells did not provide us with good care. Honestly it wasn’t even adequate and perhaps borderline negligent. I initially chose his practice specifically because of the midwifery offered. An amazing midwife delivered my son 20 years prior and I wanted the same personal, caring care I’d gotten then. But because I was considered “advanced maternal age” I wanted to have an experienced and highly rated obstetrician as added security in case I needed it.I’d been nervous because of a previous miscarriage a few years earlier following an ultrasound where a heartbeat wasn’t found (not with dr wells). It looked to be the same situation at my initial appointment here (at 9 weeks) when the tech couldn’t find my daughter’s heartbeat. She hurried out of the room to get Dr. Wells. Thankfully he was able to locate the heartbeat and he was thoughtful in putting my mind at ease. So I was confident I’d made the right choice for my maternity care. Over the next 7ish months with an appointment every month (sometimes more), I was seen by rotating midwives who spent less than 15 minutes with me each time. I saw Dr. Wells maybe 3 times total during this time. Definitely not the personal experience I was hoping for. I will say that other staff (front desk and nursing assistants (?) were always warm and friendly.As I mentioned, I was advanced maternal age. And I truly thank God I was labeled that because I had to get extra screening and ultrasounds because of it. However, it wasn’t through Dr. Wells office but in another office in the same building a floor below. I would often schedule both appointments the same day. On January 4th 2019, I had an appointment with Dr. Wells in the morning and the perinatal specialist in the afternoon less than 2 hours later. I had a scheduled c-section (dr wells insisted I have one because I’d had a myomectomy previously) a week later on the 11th even though my due date wasn’t until the 29th. At my appointment on the 4th, It was Dr Wells himself who saw me, assessed me, gave me an ultrasound, and told me everything looked good. I left his office and a few hours later, I was told by a doctor at the perinatal office that my amniotic fluid was dangerously low and that I needed to go to the hospital immediately to have the baby delivered. Huh? Why hadn’t Dr. Wells noticed this danger to me and my baby? I didn’t have time to ask.The perinatal office called Dr. Wells to inform him I needed to deliver that day and I was admitted to the hospital, prepped and on the table hours later. Dr. Wells did perform my c-section and everything went ok. He did a good job opening me up and stitching me back together. I had an awesome labor and delivery nurse and staff! However, the “plan” I’d talked with him about for the delivery was negated. I didn’t get to hold my daughter immediately after because she had to go to the NICU. She and I spent 4 days in the hospital and Dr. Wells never once came by to see how I/we were doing. Never heard from the man again. And for years I’ve wondered if he saw the danger on my ultrasound that day or he just didn’t care. He certainly didn’t care enough to check in after his “job” was done.

Dr. Wells and his office are amazing. There are no words to express how grateful I am to have had my pregnancy journey with him. My delivery was smooth and as we planned. His midwives and himself respected my decisions, asked about my wishes, and were responsive. Their office staff went above and beyond every visit & I never felt anxious or uncertain about my care. I had a high risk pregnancy and would not place myself in other hands. Extremely thankful to have them and now I have my little miracle with me. Highly recommend !

Dr Stephen Wells is a truly high professional, with “golden” hands. He is good both on diagnosis, treatments and surgeries. He just made my c-section, which I’m very happy with. Dr Wells is very calm and patient, always listens to you as a patient. He doesn’t insist only on one option, but if applicable, gives you a full picture of options, pros and cons to make informed choice and meet the patient preferences. And his Prenatal Handbook was the best I’ve seen! It provides you with so many answers and gives you a full perspective on pregnancy and beyond. A real piece of art, which every pregnant woman should read!Midwife Gabi is also adorable and very caring, she treated all my complains seriously and provided all professional and human support to cope with different problems, related to pregnancy. She was also assisting the c-section and I was very happy to see her, feeling all the goodness.Highly recommend Dr Stephen Wells and his office for the pregnancy and delivery! Dr Wells has been my gynecologist for over 12 years. I don’t have children but he makes sure I get an annual exam and mammogram as he prescribes birth control pills for me to keep my periods on schedule. I can’t say enough wonderful things about he and his staff.

This used to be a good OBGYN office that I recommended to friends. However, my recent visit experience raised concerns. The new office manager erroneously stated my past exam history that was later corrected by Dr Wells, while rudely refused to consider the correct MyChart records.

This office and its staff is fantastic! Dr. Wells especially is beyond knowledgeable in his field and a bit of a delivery magician but his entire staff is wonderful. This was my second pregnancy and I was with a different provider for my first and there was a night and day difference in care. I felt well taken care in Dr. Wells and his staffs care. Each member is knowledgeable, compassionate, well trained, and very skilled at what they do. I had a wonderful pregnancy and easy as can be delivery in their care. I highly recommend and will be sure to have them as my doctors again when we have our third. You couldn’t be in better hands.

I am so glad I was recommended to Dr. Wells’ practice by other moms. The office staff were always professional and accommodating since I’m a working mom and had scheduling conflicts from time to time. My delivery experience with Gabbie was as amazing as she is. I felt supported and encouraged to delivery my baby girl and I appreciated the level of attention that I received from her and the hospital staff. This is my second baby and I felt taken care of and comfortable throughout my entire pregnancy journey. I felt heard and thankful that my birth plan was followed.

I have been going to Dr. Wells’ office for over 20 years. He has seen me through child bearing years and now middle age (yikes). I could not imagine ever going elsewhere. The office staff are so quick to respond and are great with getting the appropriate care in a timely manner. They are all very efficient and each visit is usually quick and easy. Most importantly, the bedside manner of both the Doctors and the Nurse Practitioners is priceless. There is a culture of caring, empathy and integrity that is unmatched. You can trust that you are in good hands.

Personally loves Dr. Wells office. I was able to work with the whole staff throughout my pregnancy and felt so comfortable with everyone. Majority of my appointments I met with Dr. Thompson who is also beyond amazing and helpful. I even joked he would deliver my baby girl. I had planned on having Dr. Wells delivering her and he was also so nice and helpful. The day of delivery I had Dr. Thompson and helped bring my daughter into the world. Even after delivery and follow up appointments the staff has been so wonderful from day one and continues to.Since having my daughter I’ve been seeing NP Nicole let me tell you I’ve felt heard and listened to with everything I’ve had go on since giving birth. Will be going to his office for all future appointments and babies. ❤️ thank you so much to the wonderful staff.

The office of Dr. Wells is a just great place to go through the journey of pregnancy and birth. My experience there started a couple of weeks before pregnancy, and culminated with the birth of my healthy and happy daughter. I had great check up sessions with Nicole and Amanda, got to follow up with Dr. Wells, and had most of my interaction with Dr. Thompson, and midwife Nicole. These two were angels during labor and delivery. They were super patient and understanding of my familys needs, and acted so well to make sure that everything would happen correctly. Their office gives us the freedom to use our well informed choices as far as we can while they are safe, and when plans need to change a bit they are there will all their great training, expertise, and compassion. Therefore, nothing less than 5 stars to the whole team and lovely staff.

I just welcomed my first baby and the entire process was amazing from my 12 week prenatal appt to my cesarean. I met him at my very first ultrasound to confirm my first pregnancy and was amazed at his incredible beside manner.Hes kind and positive and doesnt have an ego - he gives you the facts so you can make your own decision. After diagnosing me with a liver conditionthat meant Id need to give birth early, he was 100% supportive of my decision to have a c-section instead of inducing and was very thorough in going over the pros and cons. I just had my first baby and had such a great experience with this office. I liked all the doctors and midwives who might have delivered my baby and really like that you get care from all of them along the way. Dr. Wells and Amanda were great throughout the pregnancy and answered all my questions and made me feel very supported. Dr. Thompson joined the practice at the very end of my pregnancy and I had an appointment scheduled with him to make sure I met him before labor in case he was the doctor on call but my baby was 11 days early so I ended up meeting him for the first time in the delivery room. I was referred to Dr.wells by my best friends mom, my husband and I had suffered multiple early miscarriages and were in the process of seeing a fertility Dr.I had a new patient appointment set up with Dr. Wells and ended up finding out I was pregnant before even getting in! He scheduled me an earlier appointment to be seen immediately (all the other drs I had seen all made me wait until 8 weeks, he saw me at 5 weeks) and immediately put me on baby aspirin while we waited for my blood tests to come back… I write this as I am snuggled up with my 6 week old baby boy! His team was extremely proactive with our situation and I truly believe they are why I was able to finally have a successful pregnancy! After my OBGYN of 10 years retired of whom I absolutely loved, I found myself pregnant and in need of a new practice that would hopefully come close to what I was accustomed to. I read some reviews on Dr. Wells’ office and decided to take a chance. I am so glad I did. Throughout my pregnancy I rotated through the different doctors/nurses and midwives on his staff and felt seen and heard by all of them. Dr. Wells performed my scheduled c-section. It was my 5th c-section so I was feeling nervous l, however, once inside the operating room my nerves were completely gone. He handled the surgery with precision and accuracy and his voice over the curtain took away any discomfort I was feeling. My recovery was one of the smoothest I’d had! Almost so smooth that had I not had my tubes removed during surgery I may have considered having a 6th baby! I have been at this practice for about two decades. I am a good patient . Recently, I scheduled an appointment one year in advance to see the doctor for my yearly exam. When I arrived, I realized I was going to see the nurse practitioner . No one informed me of this. I have some issues for which I prefer to see the doctor . She said “ you will need to talk to the doctor about that on a separate visit and he will also do an ultrasound. I said to her that I know I need to see a doctor, that’s why I scheduled with a doctor a year ago . She then was annoyed with me and did the quickest pelvic and breast exam I have ever had. She then said that the doctor could come in and talk to me now if I wanted . I said “ yes, I would like that”.I did not say anything disrespectfully. I did let her know I was not happy. I think practitioners and offices make mistakes and that they should acknowledge mistakes and try to rectify their mistakes.When the doctor entered, his first statement was literally “ I hear you are upset”….What?I don’t think that is an appropriate response by the doctor . He made me feel like I was high maintenance and he didn’t acknowledge that they should have informed me that I would not be seeing the doctor . There was no understanding on his part . He told me “ I think we sent out an email about the doctor not being here” ( no, there was no email ) He also contradicted what the nurse practitioner said about needing an ultrasound. In fact, he said I don’t need an ultrasound ( which I knew) .I am in the medical field and have an oral surgery practice of my own and I know what is professional and acceptable practice in a medical office . I would never speak to a patient of mine and say “ I heard you are upset”. His attitude was ( in my opinion) dismissive and certainly not polite . Especially since I have been in the practice for 20 years. I have never been difficult or anything but respectful and appreciative of the doctors.I have had my appointments cancelled numerous times and have been understanding.It’s disappointing to see that practitioners have lost their “ touch” and bedside manner. And I really doubt that they will respond to my concerns/ review with any amount of ownership or apology.Things are not the same at this office as they used to be….

I can’t express just how wonderful Dr. Wells, Dr. Thompson, Amanda, and Nicole are. Starting from the second I found out I was pregnant I have felt heard and cared for. I always was able to get in to see a doctor or midwife if there was a concern and everyone was always quick to respond to emails, even on the weekend. We ended up seeing Dr. Thompson for almost every prenatal appointment and he is absolutely wonderful! He is a special doctor who took the time to get to know us. I never felt rushed in appointments and he always answered all of our questions and concerns. Due to a slight complication of cholestasis, Dr. Thompson talked us through our options so that our baby girl could arrive safely. He performed my C-section and continued to check in on me everyday in the hospital. We are so thankful for the amazing team in this practice.

I absolutely love the RNs at this office. Both Gabby and Courtney made me feel so comfortable during my visits. The front desk staff and office manager were a different story. The office manager took me into her office to discuss me having a balance from unplanned testing that was needed. I expressed needing to set up a payment plan and she continually told me I needed to pay more than what I was able to pay while making zero eye contact with me in an office behind closed doors. It made me feel extremely uncomfortable and as tho I was not able to be treated at this office if I couldn’t pay the way she wanted me to. While the girl at the desk was polite to me, she called the manager over and her and the manager had a loud conversation about me.

Current patient and changed providers because this office got such rave reviews. Staff and first appointment was awesome. I have fertility issues so I made a follow up appointment to start treatment. Unfortunately, I had to cancel last minute because my daughter had 105 degree fever and needed to go to the ER. Called the office back the following week (waited until I didn’t show signs of being contagious) to schedule an appointment, only to find out they are no longer accepting fertility patients. This makes no sense. I’m a current fertility patient, with a known diagnoses of fertility issues. I had a successful pregnancy with a prescription of Letrozole which any provider can prescribe. I’ve had all the tests and lab work, there isn’t much needed other than a visit and prescription. I’m completely shocked. I truly wish it worked out with this office.Update: dr wells called personally to discuss this and scheduled me an appointment-hoping it goes well. I increased my rating based on this.2nd update: After giving this doctor a real try, I have to say I’m very disappointed. When I was able to meet with him he not only said he didn’t believe my previous doctor who diagnosed me with PCOS, He implied that I just wanted meds to help me get pregnant. Then come to find out, after making me do bloodwork, he said he changed his mind that I do have PCOS and did so without an apology. He also said he doesn’t recommend Letrozole because it can cause twins and he continued to speak negatively about a current patient’s twin pregnancy. Unfortunately, taking fertility meds is my only option and how unprofessional of him to speak about another patient.Went back to my original doctor and am now pregnant. I’m so thankful I didn’t continue to see him. He may have been a really good doctor for many years, but I think it’s time to retire.

They didnt have anything scheduled correctly, were checking people in for the wrong day, I showed up for my appt and the NP I was supposed to meet with wasnt even in today. It took them 45 minutes to enter my info into their system and was going to take another 30 minutes to get me in to see the NP. I asked to be rescheduled and they were booked for the next month. They totally lost me as a patient. It was completely ridiculous. Good luck if you book an appointment there and plan for at least 2 hours. Total disappointment.
