Dr. Wong and her team were outstanding.She was attentive, thorough, explained various possible procedures - was incredibly instructive showing the MRI images. Overall a great experience, I walked away feeling I was in fantastic hands.
I appreciated Dr. Wong‘s concern, competence, and great communication skills.After her evaluation, she concluded that I did not need surgery, and explained why clearly. I was relieved. Nevertheless, based on this experience, if I had needed surgery, I would have been pretty comfortable having her as my surgeon.
My appointment at UCSF Orthopedics in Berkeley was very efficient. Even though I had not seen her before, Dr. Stephanie Wong had already provided an Xray order, so I went there right after checking in. I met with Dr. Wong who was very competent in listening to the patient, assessing the problem and discussing options. I highly recommend Dr. Wong and the friendly, competent staff in this department. A good experience from check in until departure.
Dr. Wong is amazing, she help me better understand the condition with my hip. Took the time to show me images so I can better have a visual. She explained the process of a replacement surgery. Very nice, kind, and patient.Her staff was very friendly, warm and welcoming. The office was clean and one of the rooms had a good view of the street and area.
In my experience I found Dr. Wong to be an excellent orthopedic physician. She listened to better understand how I was experiencing the pain and limitations. She asked probing questions and determined the most advisable way to proceed and today I have full mobility.I cant express how happy I am to be able to return to normal activities.
I was considering multiple different surgeons for my (repeat) ACL+meniscus reconstruction, and I am very glad that I chose Dr. Wong. She is incredibly attentive, knowledgable, and fast to respond. Amazing surgeon, great personality and kind staff. I had surgery to repair a broken collarbone. The procedure was a breeze and I am recovering quickly with very little discomfort and pain.

Dr. Wong is a talented, knowledgeable, and caring orthopedic surgeon who helped me with my collarbone fracture. She performed an ORIF surgery on my collarbone that went very smoothly. Dr Wong provided outstanding care, great explanations, answered all questions, detailed options before and was very kind a caring before and after the procedure. Stephanie agreed to see me when nobody else would. She didn’t give me any B.S., she gave it to me straight. Although I didn’t get care from her, besides a second opinion. I would say she is a very stand up doctor that is pursuing her work to help people, I would wager to say she has a good passion for helping people. A gem in this world we are in.

Visit was for painful arm. Dr Wong was very caring and professional in her manner of treatment with exams and requesting treatments for my health problems. Wong requested MRI to get a clear view of what was happening, she was able to explain in a clear and concise description of the injury to my arm.

Dr. Stephanie Wong is excellent at talking through your options and helping you decide the correct path for you. I had completely torn my ACL in my right knee with minor tears on my meniscus as well. I chose to use an autograph with my hamstring. I felt that Dr. Wong prepared me for the surgery, being ready for what was going to happen during and after. She was always quick to respond to messages and easy to talk to. I would recommend her to anyone who needs to have a knee surgery.
Stephanie (Dr. Wong) is OUTSTANDING. Full stop. She did a wonderful job preparing me, performing surgery, and managing post-care for my torn ACL; rendering a painful knee injury into a delightful medical process. Dealt with chronic hip pain and limited mobility for two years. Dr. Wong took me on a conservative journey of diagnosing my labrum tear and FAI impingement and threw the kitchen sink at me in non-invasive approaches to avoid surgery. Who doesn’t want to avoid surgery?Alas, the conservative approach though PT, cortisone injections, NASIDs did not give me my life back. I took the surgery route 12/2022 and my results have been fantastic! The pain that brought me to see Dr. Wong is totally gone and I’m rehabbing my way back to intensive hiking and power vinyasa. She’s a very attentive doctor with impeccable bedside manner, though the technical work is really what’s important to me. She repaired the labrum, not debride, which is important to me & the longevity of the repair and sanded down the impingement. I had no surgical complications and I’m recovering as planned. I’m finally getting my life back and that’s thanks to UCSF and Dr. Wong. I highly recommend!

I was referred to Dr. Stephanie Wong for my fractured clavicle. As a patient who is always fearful when it comes to any type of medical procedures, Dr. Wong was very kind and receptive to my needs.After reviewing my X Rays, she discussed the various options and the pros and cons of each option of treating my injury. It was decided that my fractured clavicle will be treated without surgical intervention.I look forward to working with Dr. Wong as my injured clavicle heals. I had mountain bike accident and broke my left clavicle bone. As soon as the request was put in for a surgeon by the system she immediately called me discussed about my injury and procedure to move forward. Dr. Wong was a joy to work with. I saw her for a small fracture in the humerus, due to an accident. She was efficient in her assessment, took my experience with this type of injury into account and treated it conservatively in line with what I had hoped for. Fantastic experience with Dr Wong. She explained the procedures, recovery time, risks in a simplistic and effective manner. She also replied to all queries within 24 hours.During surgery and post surgery, she and the nurses were communicative and compassionate . Overall, a great experience.
Dr. Wong was incredible. I was afraid that she was going to lean towards surgery but I found that she was (in my laymans opinion) very strategic in her choice of treatment and provided a clear and thoughtful escalation path.

Im clearly the outlier, and I dont know why, except maybe a confluence of circumstances that produced a sub-standard outcome. In any case, sought a sports medicine orthopedist for a traumatic onset shoulder injury (doing a lache at a ninja gym), but M.D. presumed a chronic cause.After x-ray, with next to no interest in history of onset, what I would consider at best a cursory (based on AAOS standard-of-care clinical guidelines) shoulder exam (e.g., minimal testing matrix, and either did not ask about, or appeared to ignore, pain in at least 2 instances, when pain was present), and without any further workup or exploration of differentials, concomitant pathologies, or rule-outs given the complaint, acute onset, and etiological flags (spontaneously symptomatic calcific tendonitis in a 64 year-old male while doing laches?), provider held to a finding of shoulder pain of unspecified chronicity (partially amended on post-visit summary only after I explicitly questioned that language).I left with virtually no professional direction (*I* had to raise the possibility of even a generic referral to a P-T--who, not so incidentally, did a vastly more thorough and objective shoulder exam!), little confidence that the provider had engaged sufficiently to arrive at a fully-considered diagnosis, and a strong sense that the doctor found my primary health goal (to optimize recovery efficiency because training on a timeline for a competition) irrelevant to the process. Such might be a *marginally* acceptable preliminary outcome if the Berkeley Outpatient Center location billed itself as a general orthopedics practice, but its promoting itself as a sports medicine clinic, which ordinarily implies some alacrity in prioritizing patients return to action. I saw no such urgency or sensitivity to that during my visit, and theres zero chance Ill trust this provider with future care.(Note: Quite a jarring contrast with the unparalleled thoroughness, attentiveness, and patient focus shown by Cindy Chang, MD, during a visit for a previous issue. However, I was told--twice!--that she was on indefinite leave from this same clinic. Discovered on my own, some time after being shifted to the new provider, that this, too, was inaccurate information. My trust level for this clinic as a whole is now at minus-one.)(Note 2: Posted this review only after voicing concerns directly to the clinic in a post-visit evaluation but receiving no feedback or follow-up.)
I was very nervous, scared, and apprehensive to get my patella reconstruction surgery. But after our initial meeting a lot of my fears subsided. She took the time to make sure all of my questions were answered, and she’s very compassionate too. My surgery went amazing, there’s minimal scaring. I have to get my other knee fixed, and she’s the only one that I’ll allow to operate on me.
Very competent doctor with excellent demeanor. Took the time to answer all of my questions and concerns. I never felt rushed. Gave me an accurate diagnosis very quickly and now I’m headed to physical therapy. I’m hopeful I’ll make a full recovery.
You dont have to be an athlete to work with a sports medicine doctor. Dr. Wong is insightful, helpful and knowledgeable and has helped me navigate a challenging injury with care and hope.

2023-09-07 17:29:27I had hip pain for over four years and my doctor referred me to Doctor Wong for a newer arthroscopic procedure to remove the bursa. Two very small incisions, a week on crutches, some PT and I feel fabulous! She was great and the communication from her was excellent. Thank you Dr. Wong!!

2023-01-18 15:51:46First time here for my daughters Orthopedic appointment. We wasnt sure what to expect. After checking in, we found that every staff members was great, friendly and fast! (3rd and 4th floor)Upon meeting Dr. Stephanie Wong, she was patience, knowledgeable, funny and very professional. After going through my daughters X-Rays, she points out that my daughter didnt have any serious injury and doesnt need surgery but physical therapy and she was able to give us the best option available due to my daughters health insurance, so we wont have to pay much out of pocket. I love when doctors such as Dr. Wong help patients with that, actually care for her patients and their well being. (physically and financially)My daughter felt comfortable and well taken care of. We appreciate her honesty and her care. It was a great experience overall and I would highly recommend her!

2023-08-17 22:09:49I have been to so many orthopedic specialists in the past 5 years and Dr Wong was the first specialist who did not immediately dismiss me because I am overweight. Dr Wong actually analyzed what symptoms I have had over a period of time and made an analytical decision for best practices based on my experience and not upon the fact that I just present as an obese human being. Sadly, this allows for extreme praise and the highest of ratings for a doctor in this day and time.

2023-01-19 19:23:09The entire staff was kind, helpful and professional. I had almost no wait. My Doctors assistant was great. She had a great sense of humor and made me feel comfortable right away. When my doctor arrived, she was easy to talk to, listened closely, did a thought exam and made urgent refferals and a treatment plan. The appointment was quick, but never felt rushed. UCSF is always the gold standard here.

2023-07-14 22:17:04I recently had a cycling accident that resulted in a pelvic fracture. Fortunately, I went to the UCSF Parnassus ER (which was a very good experience) and got a referral to Dr. Wong in UCSFs Sports Medicine Center. Stephanie and her staff did a great job answering my questions and explaining what activities I could do as the injury healed. I am still recovering, but Im confident that I got the best care from Dr. Wong and the broader UCSF organization.

I was referred to Dr. Wong by my primary care physician and I am so incredibly grateful that I was.Dr. Wong and her entire team made a very uncertain and vulnerable experience into one where I felt supported and fully informed about my options moving forward. Many doctors have found my needs to be too great for their capabilities. Ive also experienced ageism in the medical field. - Dr. Wong made me feel confident in her ability to work with me. Five stars.
