I would not recommend Dr. Bittel or his office staff. I had an optometry appointment with Dr. Bittel a year ago and purchased new eyeglasses from his office. The eyeglasses have been a nightmare and have never fit well. The glasses slip and need repositioning numerous times. Additionally, when on a walk I may need to readjust them 50 to 60 times. I have had the glasses fall off when bending over. I have gone back to Dr. Bettel’s office 5 times to have the glasses adjusted in hopes they would fit better. When I commented to the Doctors staff, I did not think the office associate initially fitted the glasses properly I was told they sold hundreds of the model to other clients without any issues. If that is accurate that reinforces my premise the glasses were not fitted correctly by his staff. I was told they could not help me I should have said something sooner. I did my best not to rush to judgment when I first purchased the glasses and hoped the adjustments would have sufficed. I will not make that mistake again.

We went in for a contact lens exam for my son with Dr. Chi (the appointment was made 2 weeks prior). After the eye exam, we were told they did not have any sample lenses for him to try on as it would be his first contact lens.We were advised to return when they were available. I asked if we would be charged for another office visit and the answer was no.On the way out, I was given a contact lens fitting cost sheet by the receptionist (who wears glasses, I think it was Debra but cant remember for sure). I told her about what the doctor said and she said she would confirm and call me or text me regarding the 2nd visit cost.Today, I received a text requesting me to make an appointment for the contact lens fitting as they arrived.I called in, it was the same receptionist, and they tried to have me schedule an appointment. I reminded her about the cost and she said that it is part of the package (evaluation, fitting, and follow-up). I asked her, So this appointment is going to cost me $219?, and she kept avoiding the question and answered it by saying it is part of a package.I then asked for the 3rd time, Am I going to get billed for this appointment, its a yes or no question, can you just answer that for me? she replied Sir, please do not speak to me that way. ???? Is that a question I cannot ask? I asked again and then her reply was Sure, if you want to look at it that way. Am I missing something? Is it wrong for me to know what I am getting myselff into financially?I made the initial appointment in advance, its not my fault that this location did not have the proper sample lens for us to try. It was our inconvenience to have to return a 2nd time, and you are going to charge me for another visit? Here is the kicker. The initial text said that I need to make an appointment for glasses but for contacts, I can pick up any time but need to make an appointment for glasses, which seems like wrong information here, since I am in for contact lenses. Also, I tried to make an appointment for the upcoming Saturday and she says they are closed. Convenient.I called back to get the prescription from the exam (I found out through the Federal Contact Lens Rule that we were supposed to have received the prescription at the end of our exam, even if we didnt ask for it) and they said they can only give us the glasses prescription and the lens prescription was only available after the fitting and evaluation (that costs $219).I have left a message so that I can speak to the doctor directly to clear up the conversation we had. But as of now, this has been a horrific experience.

I typically don’t write reviews, but in this case, I think it’s extremely important to write one. Out of all of the optometrists I’ve been to, Dr. Bittel has exceeded my expectations. I have not personally been treated by him, but was looking for an optometrist that could help improve the quality of life for my mom who has severe chronic dry eye.My mother who is on medi-cal, was merely getting the advice of using artificial tears when she was feeling a lot of discomfort, so much that she started to feel depressed and couldn’t even keep her eyes open for a few hours without feeling a lot of pain. As her daughter, I wanted to find an optometrist who can help improve the quality of her life and also adequately improve her symptoms, and actually if possible, fix the problem. I understood that this would probably cost a lot of money especially since I believed that her condition got progressively worse after not being properly treated.I personally researched to try to understand the condition of chronic dry, and spoke to 12 different optometrist that I felt could help her and to also understand financially, what I can expect to take a loan out on. After speaking to all of the different optometrist, I decided to go with Dr. Bittel and I could not have made a better decision.Dr. Bittel truly cares about each and everyone of his patients. He takes a very conservative approach and is very detail oriented. He also takes the time to carefully explain what he is seeing and what he believes are the best next steps in one’s treatment plan. When he doesn’t know the answer to something, he doesn’t hesitate to let us know that he will get back to us, which is really important to me: being honest. So far, we have tried many different methods, and I have personally seen my mother’s symptoms slowly get better. Given that there is a slight language barrier between my mom and Dr. Bittel, Dr. Bittel provides me updates via email to make sure that I also am at ease and comfortable with the treatment plan that we are going with and so that I can also explain it to my mom. Who does that?!? Those are qualities of a doctor that I didn’t even think I could expect of anyone. He is truly an amazing and compassionate doctor that set some apart from everyone else. If you have any eye-related needs, I don’t say this often, but he is the one to go to.Though I live in LA, I am also planning on going to him as long as he continues his practice. The drive is more than worth it.

Have been coming here for years and love them. Saw Dr Biddle Sr last time and he was so informative. Showed me pictures of my eye with great explanations. Wonderful teacher. Have been having Linda help me pick glasses now for at least 4 years. She makes what would be a long painful process(choosing a frame) quick! I have been very happy with all my frames. The staff is all very nice and helpful... never have I walked in and not found them helpful. I am rough on glasses and they are always helpful in adjusting them and replacing pads. They even text me to remind me that it is time for yearly exam .

Our 6 year old son has extreme anxiety when it come to new medical situations. He had never had an eye appointment before and was terrified. Dr. Bittel was so awesome with him; helping him to calm down and feel safe! I highly recommend Dr. Bittel!

Im a Yorba Linda local and found this place on a recommendation of a friend. I went in and was really pleased with Dr Bittel Srs consult on my eyes. I have horrible eyesight and Im terrible to my eyes (contacts) and he put me on the right path. The next year I saw Dr. Bittel Jr and he was so professional, I was completely awed by the computers that took pictures of my eyes and the technology they were using.I cant say enough about the front desk service. They are always friendly and helpful and I was so grateful to them for figuring out my insurance issues. They are also KID FRIENDLY with a basket of toys for the littles and reminders of summer checkups before school starts.Their options for glasses look extensive and Ive been waiting to get a new pair. I cant wait to start shopping next time I go in. Highly recommend!
