Dr. Raymond and all the staff are awesome! They follow through on everything, and are very thorough with all my pets. Knowledgeable, pleasant, prices are very reasonable for the high quality of service recieved. No wonder why theyre booked up for regular exams so far out. I took my cat to DVH for a vaccine on Jan 6 and he was never the same after that day. Took him to another vet where they said he had brain damage and the best thing to do was to put him down. DVH also gave my cat an unnecessary vaccine. They had given him the leukemia vaccination in November of 2023 and then again on Jan 6 even though he wasnt due for that vaccine until Nov 2024. It seems like theyre not good at keeping records of the procedures they do. As other reviews have said, they care more quantity ($$) than quality.

I’m so happy that I found this vet for my 10 year old golden retriever. Dr. Raymond was very thorough in his examination, was very easy to speak with and his prices very fair. Everyone I dealt with was very nice and professional…. I’m switching vets and bringing my sweet girl here from now on.

This is a review from the nineties when I lived in area. The vet, was very ccompassionate, caring, extremely honest. My pup chow had suffered a broken leg due to phone guy kicking him... ( roommate was home I was not, no visual proof)Although he admitted pupis getting in the way. Anyway Vet suggested that chows get eye lids get done, for they have problems later. Also, anesthesia is harmful over time. I agreed and knew Vet had our best interest at heart. Recently I searched online to see if he still practiced. My family member was having difficulty finding a reputable Vet. Phone was disconnected. So sad that we lost touch. Honest ones hard to find nowadays!! Thanks to the Vet and staff, I was very grateful!

I been bringing my dogs here since they were puppies. They were very sweet, caring, and understanding when I had to put my dog to sleep last year. Was a very hard and difficult decision, but I am greatful for them. I do miss Dr. T, but Dr. Raymond is great too and I really enjoy his sense of humor as well.

Ive always heard good things about this office. Ive recently decided to take my pup in for a in depth dental cleaning here. The staff was very nice, the Dr and nurses helped explain anything I wasnt knowledgeable on and did not try to pressure on the upscale of services. We left happy and our pup is in better shape thanks to them!

Love this vet, however I do not appreciate that the staff didn’t let me know before hand that the wellness plan was no longer being in use. When I came today for my dogs vet appointment I thought everything was going to be covered but I didn’t find out until I had to pay. I think the staff should let their customers know that the wellness plan would no longer be in effect so that’s why there’s no misunderstanding with the price.

The Doctor ( I cant recall his name) that treated Lily is amazing. He took the time to call us to go over the various options to treating our cat Lily. We even discussed referring her to be treated by specialists. He was very kind and empathetic. He gained our trust and treated Lilys dental issues.Their office staff are knowable and very helpful when I asked about prices etc. The documents were sent by email so they had all the info and I didnt have to complete any paperwork when I dropped off Lily.Downey Veterinary Hospital is now our pets new medical treatment site.

I called around to many Vets to find decent prices since I was a first time dog owner. This was the Vet with the best price. And I am so glad I went there. They are great. Dr. T is very patient, helpful and knowledgeable. The assistants and front desk personnel are also very nice and helpful. It has been 3 years and highly recommend them. They even accommodate you when you are a walk in.Their caring nature became even more evident when my doggie was diagnosed with diabetes. They have been so caring toward her and so patient with all the questions I had. They have assisted me with me friendly attitude and smile whenever I called about a concern. Downey Vet Hospital saved my chihuahuas life when she developed a Pyometra a few years ago. At that time, we also learned that she had a bad heart, but Dr Ray immediately started her on a treatment plan. Because of him, she just turned 12 and is still here with us! He and his team have been so kind and helpful. Downey Vet Hospital has also performed a successful spay on my 1 year old pupper. Im so grateful for Dr Rays quality of care for our furry family members. Definitely recommend!

First time coming here bringing my Rover who was very sick. The immediate response when they saw it was an emergency was heartwarming. Ive been going here for 10 years. The staff is so sweet and informative. When i had an emergency, i called when i was on my way there. Once arrived they got my pup in within seconds. I honestly cant thank them enough because that saved her life. They have fair pricing and you can use your care credit card there which is awesome. I will continue to take my fur babies to them. I brought my Rottweiler in 95 with Dr.Taguinod. He was such an awesome professional Vet. Sad to hear he retired. I still bring my dogs now with Dr. Raymond who is also awesome funny friendly & kind. He was very kind & caring when I had to put my black lab down. Dr. Raymond rocks!!!

I love this place. The doc & staff were right on top getting my moms old dog out of the waiting room. The Dr. Shut down moms thought that the dog had an ear infection or a tooth problem. I think a lot of vets might have charge for taking a look. Stream line and very friendly staff. Very satisfied!

This review is long over due. Im embarrassed its taking me this long to write it. We have been going to Downey Veterinary Hospital for years.Dr. Raymond is the only doctor we trust with our geriatric kitty. Our boy is like a son to us. Dr. Raymond always takes the time to talk to us, hear what the symptoms are, explain his diagnosis and recommend treatment. Each time we needed a referral for a specialist Dr. Raymond has spoken with them, kept in contact on the progress and overall has gone above and beyond to be supportive. As a person Dr. Raymond has been an individual we trust and who is funny and very knowledgeable in the treatment of cats.The office staff has always been professional, attentive and caring. No request is ever too small and we are genuinely surprised that each time we call they know who our boy is and are always interested in his progress. This has always happened even during the COVID pandemic.We have been to many vets and Downey Veterinary Hospital is the best place. We cant recommend it enough.

I definitely do not recommend. At Downey Vet, they are more about quantity($$$) over quality. I can understand being busy, but there becomes a point where it is just ridiculous. Its a 2 month backup to book a normal checkup or even yearly shots. Worse then that, they do not set aside any openings for actual emergencies. When you call for an emergency, they just tell you to go elsewhere. They dont both even asking who your pet is or the issue. What is the point of having a primary vet if they are just going to send you away when you actually need them? And this is not an isolated incident, Ive been through the same situation three separate times. Save yourself the frustration and find another primary that is more focused on the animals and not solely on the turnover aka money.

I have been going to Downey Veterinary Hospital for 8+ years and they are consistently great. The staff is awesome and provides excellent customer service and the Vet. takes his time to explain things. I currently have a chihuahua who has a heart condition and when he was initially put on heart medication I appreciate the follow-up calls from the vet to check how everything was going. Because they are great showing up without an appointment during peak hours is not the best but in an emergency I dont mind waiting because I know my dogs will be treated great.

There is a reason why this place is still in business! Not only is everyone very professional, but they give a level of care and love to you and your furbabies that is unmatched. Took my cat which was misdiagnosed at a other pet hospital. The dr was was very thorough in examining my cat and her problems. I did have to put her to sleep, I was not pushed to make the decision but it was the best decision for her. The while staff was very kind and sympathetic, the dr even gave my son some chocolate to cheer him up, which he didnt have to do. All in all Im very happy with this place and will no longer go anywhere else

We had been taking our pets to them for years up until the past couple which we noticed things weren’t the same, maybe new management has something to tell with it?!Tried to get our dog in for routine shots last August was told had to wait 8 weeks for appointment. Instead called Ashton animal hospital and got in 2 days Later with appointment.THE LAST STRAW! Since mor familiar with them we Set up another appointment with DVH again for regular shots and check up and again 6 week wait. Showed up for our dogs appointment ON TIME that we waited for 6 weeks just to find out that they cancelled our appointment. When I asked why, they said we never reaffirmed our ALREADY SET UP APPOINTMENT. First said they texted us, except I told her the number is a land line so not possible, she then said sent to email, BS NEVER RECEIVED ONE! and she couldn’t be sure what happened except that my appointment was given to a sick pet TODAY. Im thinking THEY GAVE MY SPOT TO A SICK PET BECAUSE THEY WILL MAKE MORE MONEY IM SURE!!HOPE IT PAID WELL BECAUSE THEY HAVE LOST OUR BUSINESS FOR EVER.

Please allow me to share the most horrifying experience with Veterinarian of my life as someone who has worked in a vet office and has a special needs dog who has seen many different vets because of both necessity and travel.I really wanted to like this practice, it had good reviews and it is in walking distance of where I just moved. I am sure for the average person and pet, this place seems nice and has good prices for vaccines. However, my dog is special needs. He has Immune Mediated Hemolytic Anemia. IMHA dogs are supposed to avoid vaccines, certain antibiotics, and anything that could trigger his immune system. I have worked for a vet office before, and my dog has seen many different vets because we move a lot, so Ive heard a lot of professional opinions from actual specialist that coincide the many hours of research I have doneMy dog was in need of a dental and setting up a primary care doctor for this new location. I made an appointment for a new patient/dental exam. I call and come in early for my appointment and explain my dog had gotten into cookies a couple hours earlier wondering if he could induce vomiting because I was unsure of how much semi-sweet chocolate he had consumed. Firstly, the vet had a really thick accent and couldnt speak English fluently, so that already made me uneasy since my dogs issues are so serious and there is a massive communication barrier. On top of that, he claimed that it was too late to do so, and didnt seem concerned at all. He then walks out with a Distemper Parvo vaccine and highly insist that he gives my IMHA dog the vaccine, and proceeds to administer it. I am clearly extremely uncomfortable with this and protest saying other vets and his internal medicine specialist are scared to give him vaccinates. He ignores my protest and administers the vaccine. I am then frozen and confused. This is a vet, someone I am supposed to trust with my pet, and yet he is administering an IMHA dog that is potentially poisoned with chocolate a vaccine!?!?! Once I was able to gather my thoughts, I panic and ask what about a reaction, what about his IMHA!?! that very serious disease that can kill my dog. He then proceeds to tell me If he has a reaction, it will be within 2 hours. WHAT!?! He isnt going to have an allergic reaction, IF he reacts, he is going to start killing all his red blood cells over the next week or two, throw clots in his body, and die. The treatment would be blood transfusions and months of serious meds if he survives costing me thousands. That vet was disgusting and that was the most horrifying experience with a vet of my life. He endangered the life of my dog and ignored my concerns. I feel like that is almost illegal or some sort of malpractice. Does he even really have a degree? I find it odd that they dont even list their doctors on their site like every other practice. Maybe someone should have them checked? Multiple things he said were entirely inaccurate and I have confirmed that through other vets. I am incredibly lucky my dog was fine despite this doctors ignorance and negligence.TLDR: Downey Veterinary Hospitals Veterinarian tried to kill my dog. I can see why they have good reviews, but thats because most people are coming in with relatively healthy dogs for well priced vaccines and basic care. If your dog has anything remotely serious, stay far away.

Last week my Teddy’s teeth were fractured by another dog and were hanging out. I called the office and they admitted Teddy right away. Please do not visit for the sake of your pet. I took my baby pomeranian that Ive had for 6 months to the vet owner of this establishment because my dog was unconscious and had unnormal behavior ... he said he was fine and tried to rush us out of his office. We refused to leave because a unconsious puppy is obviously not okay, we waited it out until we saw he fine after throwing up, he were returned back to himself. The vet said oh thats probably what was wrong with him. Which is obvious and didnt take a vet to figure that out. The vet insisted he was ok, just to rush to the next client. Two weeks later my baby pup was unconscious AGAIN, this time after he threw up he died with 5 minutes. This was not only devastating but proved that the vet did not know what he was talking about. When I called the vet back to let him know he was wrong, and also to request a refund of $29. He said no, I mention to him that this was a act of malpractice, he cut me off from talking and without sympathy said oh well, and Im not giving you a refund and hung up on me. I beg you please DO NO go to this establishment it is simply about money for them. I really dont want anyone else to hurt as I did. Im currently in the process of developing a case to sue which you can do if any of you run into a similar situation!

They killed my dog!. i took my dog cause she wasnt eating i let them know she had a heart murmur and dr tanguinod Carlos gave her a cortisone injection 12 hours after the cortisone injection she died. i read up on it and it says one of the side effects is excessive panting. she didnt need that her heart murmur already had her panting. Im devastated right now. my dog is now dead and Im heartbroken keep on blaming myself for taking her there. it was malpractice and Im gonna sue them my baby is now gone it wont bring her back but at least Im not sitting with my arms cross. please dont take your babys there.
