Always saw this place when driving by and never really gave it a 2nd thought. This is your sign to visit Donna Jean! Some of the best vegan food Ive ever tried and its in the San Fernando Valley!Hands down my favorite thing here is the Hot Shrooms. Eaten fresh, one of the best eating experiences Ive had. That first bite through the crispy exterior into the mushroom honestly made me forget it was vegan. You could probably even make your own vegan chicken sandwich using 2 slices of bread!The pizzas are also amazing and wish I had the stomach capacity to try them all. Do yourself a favor and visit this restaurant.

Every single thing I put into my belly was absolutely delicious. It has been a long time coming going to this place. I fancy their instagram, and today I needed some place new to eat at. I am so so glad I stopped in. I feel like they need to be located in WeHo instead of where they are. But all things considered, make sure you go to this delicious restaurant. The vibe is awesome too.

I had a lovely brunch here a couple weekends ago and really want to see this place stay open, so people PLEASE go check them out! Sherman Oaks is a little out of my way but it was worth the trek. The food was flavorful and the service was amazing. We all agreed that the lasagna was a highlight and dont skip out on the bread and garlic butter. We also enjoyed the frittata, pizza, and salad. Check this place out!! They were slow when we went and it made me sad.

This is my first time to the Los Angeles location (already a big fan of the San Diego venue). This place is vegan gold.I had the Really Good Salad, which lives up to its name! I don’t typically order salads for my main course at restaurants, but I suspected that Donna Jean would knock this out of the park, and it did.The Pear Crisp was a delightful dessert. Donna Jean knows how to do coconut whipped cream the right way!The atmosphere is spacious and clean. The server was really nice, too. ☺️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

To celebrate our birthdays, my vegan friend and I will try to find the absolute best vegan restaurants that we can. Last night we celebrated Kims birthday in style with a FANTASTIC meal!! Kale Caesar, skillet mac and cheese, and The Widow Pizza, followed by a birthday blondie. Each dish was incredible ~ layered tastes and textures, unusual combinations as well as comfort food perfected. I cannot recommend Donna Jeans enough!! (I didnt include a pic of the pizza as it didnt truly represent how delicious it was. Youll just have to order it yourself 😃) Very comfortable setting with superior service!

My husband and I got married in September of last year and Donna Jean catered our wedding. We were already huge fans of their location in Sherman Oaks and when we started planning the wedding. We were so stoked to find out Donna Jean does on site catering!They did a fantastic job all around!!To start, our wedding was around 65 guests and 10 or so vendors. It was at The Houdini Estate. It’s a beautiful space, but with no kitchen - they had to bring in all their own equipment.My husband is vegan and I am flexitarian. It was important to us to have a vegan wedding - and a caterer that all our meat and dairy loving friends would fully enjoy as well. Donna Jean was right on the money!The passed appetizers were:1. Carrot lox with herbed cream cheese on homemade bread2. Caprese Skewers3. Bruschetta4. Nashville Style Fried Oyster Mushroom with Ranch and PicklesFor the family style dinner:1. Pasta is also just the perfect choice for an outdoor LA wedding - even if it’s hot, it still feels light.The service was also fantastic. Dine LA this year brought @liv_beautifulee and I to @donnajeanofficial ⚡️⛽️ 🍕 🍰 The meal was $35 a person and $20 corkage fee. We went with the Salad Days salad which was needing to be mixed a little to capture a sauce that was at the bottom. I 🥰 the Hot Shrooms! So🔥🤤 The Lasagna was cooked perfectly and tasted great. The Badmotorfinger pizza was incredible! The crust was perfection followed by solid ingredients. Dessert included the Chocolate Tart and Semolina Olive Oil Cake. If I had to only choose one, I’d choose both 😆 We would definitely want to go back!

Foodie spot for sure. Every dish is elevated with flavors I wish I could figure out how to do at home. Chef Roy really cares about food and creating a fine dining experience. I came for the chefs table with Chef Miyoko Schinner, which was a ton of fun. I will be back for sure for brunch, dinner and learning how to make pizza. And the wait staff is so friendly and fast!!! Excellent service.

Having been to the location in San Diego and absolutely loving it, I was so eager to try this location when it opened!! Let me tell you it did not disappoint!! The garlic butter to dip your bread in is life changing - not kidding. We also ordered the hot shrooms, mac and cheese with truffle cream (simply amazing), the widow pizza, and the Nutella cheesecake for dessert. Everything we ordered was phenomenal! Flavors were all so decadent and fresh. So creative too! Such a cute space, service was exceptional - all the employees were so friendly. We even bought some homemade cheese from the fridge next to the bar. Cannot recommend this place enough! Will be back very soon!!!

We received many recommendations from the female valley group a vegan and sophisticated place for a romantic date and went for brunch.Interior & Ambience:It’s a big open space with lots of indoor gardens on both sides and very prominent wooden bar and couple of Wooden tables. Some parts, a good design with plants wall decorations. The metallic cold tables and chairs were just unpleasant to sit on. Who stores kitchen ingredients in the dining space? Big minus, looked messy. Also temperature indoor was rather cool. The toilets temperature was unexplainable freezing.Music was relaxed, a neo jazzy tunes fits well the post-modern interior. Cool round entrance was very promising and as excellent graphic design at the menus with just a small selection of dishes.Service: needs to be worked on. Pity, but it’s another ‘wanna be’ plant-based gourmet restaurant without matching excellence in service experience. Either the music was too loud or the nice waitress was not hearing us well?This place is understaffed: only one waitress Maggie been holding it all on Sunday lunch. There was a bar person who awkwardly brought a cup of cafe without a spoon or sugar 😂. The apologetic waitress really tried to make it for us a nice experience: she refilled my orange juice and my partners coffee but it felt off.Food: Vegan Mac’n cheese was quite tasty but very sauce-heavy on its own. I ate whole salad to balance it out from my partner dish, that came with his delicious fennel frittata. The Indian Coriander chutney on the Italian-like menu? Meh… Thanks god my partner ordered delicious fingerling potatoes - it helped to round the lunch. Vegan pistachio cheesecake is a good treat to share. Now one hour after I’m hungry again and crunching on crackers after a 74$ bill. :(Would I come again for brunch? Rather not but I’d like to give another chance to the evening menu.What other plant-based spaces would you reader recommend?

This place is incredible! I have been to both this location and the one in San Diego. This location specifically had the most fantastic customer service and an excellent menu. The atmosphere offers a chill ambiance for a great family outing or a date spot. The best part about this vegan restaurant in Sherman Oaks is that you would never know it’s a vegan restaurant if they didnt tell you on the menu. 10/10 I will be back here very often!

Not being Vegan, I was at first reluctant to try another Vegan restaurant. I had not had any good experience with several.But, I went as guest of a dear Vegan friend. It was mind-blowing. The food was not only delicious, it was original, fresh and attractively served. Ive now been several times, and it is consistenly excellent. Also, the waitstaff is quite helpful and very friendly. They seem to enjoy being there and serving such unusually good food. Overall, it is a great place. I will be a frequent visitor.Everyone Ive taken there just loves it too.

My wife and I came here for Brunch on a Sunday and we ordered there Fungazi and we also got the hot shrooms. Both dishes were really really good. I highly recommend Donna Jean for everyone not just if you are Vegan. The food is outstanding and nothing beats a lively atmosphere and nice staff.

I had been to the San Diego Donna Jean, and this one opened a mile away from me a year ago but I havent been in until now - what a loss! All this time I couldve been fattening myself up on all the delicious food here. My mom was visiting, so we went for her last dinner, and we were not disappointed. Service was excellent - friendly, consistent, professional - and the food was so good we couldnt stop talking about it. We had the Fungazi pizza and strozzapreti con broccolini, as well as hot shrooms for an appetizer. We added black pepper to the pasta, but were black pepper freaks, and other than that it was perfect as it came. Im so glad I finally went here. Its expensive, but not for what it is. Definitely worth the treat however often your budget can manage it.Our only suggestion for improvement would be that the metal tables are awful, both in size and material, and dont fit the upscale ambience and cost of the place. It sounds like theyre getting phased out, though, and certainly isnt going to keep us from going back. Thanks for a lovely dinner!

So happy to find this Italian vegan gem!! Gorgeous ambience/decor - really gives a feeling of classy minimalist spaciousness! Delicious GF options and best of all the menu is completely vegan!! And I can’t believe they even had TWO GF desserts!🥹😍 Our beautiful waitress was amazing, and knew the menu incredibly well (that’s so important to me!) and I wish we’d gotten her name!🥲 (She had an extensive gorgeous tattoo along one arm and bilateral ear spaces (sorry that’s the best description I can give!🙈)

It snakes me sad to have to write this because I really enjoy Donna Jean. However today, I called to place a order for pickup, this was around 11:20am. There are only four parties here, I’ve watched two others come and grab their pickup order. When my order did come after almost an hr wait. It was incorrect, then I had to wait even longer for it to be correct. A full hour has passed and I am just now getting my food at 12:19pm. My first item the frittata, now cold, was given back to me. I am very disappointed in this service today at Donna Jean.Kimberly seems like she is a great server but today she in fact was not. I heard the bell for food dong several times and I heard her say, “that was me” when she took my food back. So here I am with only one meal warm and the other cold after having waited for an hour or so. Long story short, I’m hesitant about ordering to go ever again. This was crazy.

The lasagna is the bomb! We also shared a pizza and Cesar salad that was good as well. Overall the food was really good. I hope this place survives given that it was a Saturday night and we were the only ones eating in until we left and another group of 4 arrived. Lastly, the server should probably not be dressed in a t-shirt and leggings when a meal for 2 is $100.

Warren and the entire team at Donna Jean are fantastic! And, the food is pretty darn phenomenal, too. Their house bread with an assortment of dips and butters was a divine start to the meal, followed by their really good salad, tempeh and mushroom lasagna, and spinach/goat cheese agnolotti (pictured/our favorite). Ive been to the one in San Diego about four times and its one of my favorite places in all of California. This location didnt disappoint at all! It was just as good and service was fantastic. I got my usual Mac and cheese (I never skip it) and I tried some of the brunch items. Everything was fresh and as always I appreciate the lack of processed food/fake cheeses. I continue to be impressed with this place and theyve locked in quality control between the two locations from what I experienced today.

Im not a huge fan of vegan food and this establishment didnt change my mind.The service was good as well as the inside ambiance.The restaurant front is filthy, which is not a good feeling. They also have surcharge of 3% to cover cost of healthcare.Its just strange to ask for a % and not include it in your general operation costs.

This place is fantastic! Decadent and extremely flavorful vegan eats that cover a great mix of different pizza styles, pasta plates, salads, and appetizers. Their deserts are rich and yummy without being overwhelming. Weve also done their brunch, which is equally amazing.The best part is leaving the restaurant not feeling like we over ate; everything is well portioned and isnt padded out with fillers. Their vegan cheeses are surprisingly good - no plastic-y consistency or anything like that.They are at least as good, if not slightly better, than Sun Cafe and Follow Your Heart, which sets a very high bar! Easily one of the best vegan spots in the Valley, and better yet, one of the few that could easily please non-vegans with its excellent choices of pizzas and pastas.Bonus points for their T-shirts, which are modeled on AC/DC and Black Sabbath-style logos!

I’ve eaten here three times now. The food is pretty good. The salads are tasty but small . Fried mushrooms are great. Good vegan pizza. I had the garlic cream with spinach and pistachios (the crust is the highlight). I’m happy for a new vegan restaurant. I am not vegan but eat it often. But, the kitchen is really slow, even when not busy. For a newish restaurant it seems dated and needs a redo.The little silver plates they use for dining are yucky.It’s a toss up for me if I go back.Staff is very nice.

We LOVED this place! Found it by chance since our mechanic is nearby. Went with a group of 5 adults and a baby, and even though only one of us was vegan, we were all extremely happy with the food! To start, our server was both helpful and insightful and helped narrow down our choices.We had house bread with bomba calabrese sauce (chef’s kiss), the window pizza 🤤, and the lasagna. The date puree on the widow was beyond amazing! The gravy or “sauce” on the lasagna was thin, but rich in flavor. For dessert we had the hot pear crisp and the pumpkin cheesecake. Both were also amazing.The only downside to our experience was the table we sat at. The table itself seemed cheap and slid (not heavy enough). And the booth and chair heights were not the same. One person was at normal height while the other was way too low. We were also sat near an extremely loud large group which was very distracting when there were empty tables for two on the other side of the restaurant.All in all, decent experience and amazing food. We will definitely be coming back. Soon!

Ive dined in twice and have enjoyed the food and atmosphere well enough. I REALLY love the lasagna. So much so that Ive ordered for pick up a few times via post mates. Maybe theres something up with the estimated pick up times on the app --but it consistently takes longer than estimated. As an example, I (tonight) ordered lasagna for take out and post mates gave me an estimated pick up time of 7:12. Having ordered and it been late coming out before, I didnt get to the resturant until 7:19. It still wasnt ready. That wouldnt be so bad, except it seemed that the staff was ackwardly dodging eye contact and did not approach the host stand where I was waiting to greet them and let them know I was there to pick up take out. This continued until a couple came in behind me who needed to be seated for dine in. Then and only then did someone approach, greet me, and let me know that itd be a bit of a wait and could I please be seated while they sat the couple at their table. Totally fine if take out tends to run late but a kind open greeting and a warning right about anticipated wait when you come in go a long way. And here I still sit. Its 7:37 PM and Ive received no update on when my take out order will be ready.

Absolutely love Donna Jean! I have to say I was skeptical of what a vegan pizza, pasta, and cheese joint could be like — they totally proved me wrong in all the best ways! We love having them in the neighborhood and have gone multiple times and gotten takeout too. The pizzas are delicious, the sides are amazing, and the cast iron mac and cheese is to die for. The vibe is very casual and posh. The service was excellent, acknowledged as soon as we arrived, helped within seconds, and our server was attentive and kind. The food is fantastic, we shared the spicy mushrooms and the widow pie, perfect portions for two people. The drink menu doesnt include spirits but what they had for wine, non-alcoholic, draft and bottles had something for everyone. We will definitely be back!

4 stars just for being vegan and alleviating the suffering of animals.The food was ok, pretty good. The pasta was undercooked and the bread was doughy and salty. Everything was a bit too salty. The atmosphere was modern and dull, with annoying indie music. It’s an Italian restaurant, play some mood music, something with ambiance. It was all overpriced, of course, & on top of paying too much for their food and tipping of course, they had added something I’ve never seen before, “ health insurance service charge “, I asked what it was and they said it was going towards employees health insurance. Here’s the thing….. nowadays restaurants are acting like they are doing you a favor by even existing, like there is nothing in it for them, they are just altruistic and making no profit off you eating their food? So it is your responsibility to help pay for their employees health insurance, not theirs (the employer). I’m a pretty good cook, I can cook for myself and a restaurant is a luxury that’s getting harder and harder to justify as it gets more and more expensive with rising prices, hidden fees they hide in the bill and a tip to top it off.

Had the honor of attending their grand opening event where they served a variety off their menu.Very much enjoyed every bite of every I tasted. We have visted Donna Jean twice since their opening and I have to say that there are so many delightful reasons that make this a 5 star experience.Food: This is a scratch kitchen (everything made from scratch) and it is done RIGHT! The dynamic combinations and balances of fresh ingredients and homemade cheeses, sauces and plant based meats puts them in a category that is worldclass. You dont have to be vegan or eat plant based to know on your first bite that this place is legendary... and can easily compete or beat any top tier conventional italian inspired restaurant (Trust me, Ive eaten worldclass pizza all over the world)Service: Both times the service from entrance to exit has been very welcoming, personal and filled with passion and warmth. They hire great people (even staff that arent your server are super nice and helpful). Our most recent visit was a special one; it was my fiancé and Is last dinner out before our baby was born. Shannah made this dinner extra special by naturally being so kind, helpful and absolutely professional. We felt like we were part of the restaurants family and were treated excellently... and it wasnt just us, hearing and seeing her superb service at her other tables proved that she is a top tier server. If the food wasnt as good as it was, her service alone would bring us back.Atmosphere: The ambiance is great for anything ranging from a casual meal with friends/coworkers to a semi-fancy and romantic date. There is an exquisitely earthy feel that has just the right dash of fanciness to it.Price: $$$, I think the price is extremely reasonable for the quality of ingredients, time it takes to make everything from scratch and the high level of culinary skill it takes to perform the alchemy they do in order to create such balanced fresh food. The pizzas are sharable but getting a full pizza per person is a reasonable expectation. They all cost roughly 25 dollars each. I am on a budget and totally think this place is a great deal.5 stars doesnt cut it... this is now one of our favorite restaurants in LA. We have a newborn now but we cant wait to return as soon as we can!(I wish I took pictures but the food was so good, pictures were an afterthought.. next time!)Again Shannon was a rockstar!Id love to specifically review menu items in the future so stay tuned!

What their chefs make using ingredients I was never aware of will thrill anyone with specific dietary needs. The flavors are out of this world. We had the best time here! We weren’t sure what to expect when we found out it was vegan and it was sooooo good! The service was amazing, our server was Parina and she was so funny and authentic, she made our experience so great! Perfect for a date night!
