I bookmarked this place for a while and it was nothing short of my expectations i spent like more than 2 hours here!! They have an incredible selection of crt books and science fiction novels. They also have vintage postcards and a lot of cute stationary. The staff are super queer and cute i felt at home.

My favorite bookstore in San Francisco (and that is saying something)! Ive taken my team and many friends here esp when walking towards Dolores Park or on a lunch break. Always has nice foot traffic and discounted titles outside in a cart while the inside is piled with treasures. Literary events, friendly staff and I can stop by anytime and reliably buy an Italo Calvino book for a friend (or for myself)

Comes across as high ceiling cathedral with murals of book covers that substitute for stained glass windows; interior design also include installation art : bicycles, etc ; it is a great place for pagans like me ! We bought an anthology of short stories from Middle East ; the sale rack’s offerings entice with their prices.

Good selection of new and used books. However, I am not sure if it’s clear what the prices are on the used books as they didn’t have a visible price.i opted for two new books with visible sticker pricing. great employee recommendations near the entryway.did not see any doggies in the store during my visit. it is more of a stop and shop store. you cant really stick around and read your book here as it is squishy (which is not a problem as theres lots of great parks and coffee shops nearby.)overall five stars for cool ambience, selection, and lots of friendly employees happy to help you. only feedback is, as a new customer, i was not able to find clear pricing on used books.

I really enjoy their selection, somehow a date and I came across the bookstore while walking around and the ambiance was excellent, we both found books for each other and it was just a really nice stop on a very excellent date night. The staff was excellent. Will definitely be back.

I absolutely adore Dog Eared Books. A gem of the Mission, it is by far one of the most special bookstores I have ever set foot in. Its relatively small, but its shelves are lined with all killer, no filler. I could spend hours just browsing. The staff are extremely passionate about what they do. I had the pleasure of overhearing one employee respond to a customers request for weird fiction recommendations. The way he waxed poetic about various novels, describing with childlike glee the depths of their strangeness, betrayed a sense of meaning and purpose. That individual was made to sell books.

I was walking towards Dolores Park on a hot day when I spotted this book store. The name was clever, so I stopped in to take a look. Its a very nice and cozy bookstore. There were journals, notebooks, novels, fiction, non-fiction etc. Its a small store but packed with so much. I had to remind myself that I was doing a lot of walking that day so I couldnt go overboard in purchasing books. The employee was helpful and welcoming.

Small bookstore in the Mission that has a wide array of titles and some really neat finds hidden throughout the shelves. I believe their used book prices are a little pricey however, just based on other used bookstores in the city. Some of their used books are in less than stellar condition and theyre selling them for 9 bucks! Might as well take your chances on eBay at that point. Still, I love to browse the shelves whenever Im in the Mission and the staff is always happy to answer any questions you might have.

Its not a big shop, but its easy to get lost looking at the carefully curated selection of books here, like vintage paperbacks from the 1950s tucked away in the back. Theres also interesting art, masks, and other collectibles on the walls, hanging from posts, or displayed on top of the shelves.

This bookstore is in an awesome area! Walking around Valencia is always great! This is a must stop for anyone who enjoys a good read. Dog Eared Books is a wonderful bookstore! This little bookshop tucked away in the city, has to be one of my favorites. They have a wonderful staff, and great titles to choose from. The sheer number of independent bookstores is one of the main reasons I moved to this neighborhood (and this city), and this is the first one that I have stepped inside since moving here. I really liked it; it was cozy and welcoming. Even though it was small, there was a diverse selection of books, with many that piqued my curiosity. I picked up 2 used books (including a vintage paperback copy of A Streetcar Named Desire that advertises the 80s made-for-tv movie!) one new book, and a couple stickers. I will definitely be returning, although there are about a million more bookstores for me to explore so it might be awhile.

This is another great indie bookstore! They have a great selection of philosophy books, which I gravitate towards in any such place. The location is pretty convenient in that there are a lot of nice places to eat and enjoy yourself. Ive purchased a number of books here by now, and Id recommend this place to anyone looking for reading material on most anything. Check this place out!

The folks running the front are also very informative about finding a book youre looking for and whether or not they have it in-stock.This place smells GREAT! Just like an old library. At first it looks like an intimidating mess of books, but when you start noticing the labelling used it becomes much more clearer to navigate and find the book youre after.I can go either way regarding a place to sit and read, but this place does NOT have seating areas to grab and peruse your book.I like that I can find both new and used versions of the exact same book and then save money choosing the used one (as well as comparing with the new to make sure its not missing any pages etc.).Gotta support your local bookstores, and this one is no exception!

I love the atmosphere of this book store, and they have an amazing selection of almost every genre. They also have used books, which are a little cheaper, and give the store a very homely feel. Cornerstone shop excellent for second hand books. Sometimes youd find incredible first editions or rate editions you just cant find elsewhere. It also feels great to be able to recycle books that wouldve otherwise been thrown away.

I have found many books here. this is among my favorite bookstores in all of san francisco. the magazine selection is on point and the kids section is amazing! local books and zines can be found here, too. also, this is where i stock up on my moleskin products! when i need to order a book, they generally can have it in within a few days. the cashiers are always helpful and well-read. ask them for a recommendation!

Easy to find books, great selection of new releases and older books. Loved the diversity within the books - lots of LGBTQ+ themed books. You can learn a lot about a book store by supplying books to them. You can also tell if someone sorting through your books has any knowledge of the books or if theyre sorting through for something they already do recognize. These folks dont seem to care about informing their customers but rather promoting what is the trendy and political. Hopefully the first edition science literature I gave them end up in the free section rather than the trash, as one of the gentlemen told me they would. Yes, I realize theyre probably the product of their environment as San Franciscans but intellectuals are supposed to have their own faculties.

Ive been to this bookstore several times. Its a charming, independent shop selling new and used books. There are plenty of other interesting shops on Valencia near them as well. Also, I work as a plumber here in SF and have had to smash open this stores ceiling near the back because of a leaking toilet once. The staff was very good natured about this.

I love this book store, its so unique and taken care of with so much love that it is fun to just hang out there and browse the various books. I find it so much nicer to be in an actual bookstore than to get the books from amazon. The staff is very friendly, the ambiance is very cozy and invites outside strollers to come in. The best part is the gift paper you get for free when you ask. It is a world map and nicely wrapped around your books :)

I like bookstores, but Dog Eared is love. Great inventory, great vibe. I always leave with something I didnt go in with the intent to buy and that is the best. Found a great antique book on crazy ways people used to get high in the olden days.My experience was nearly perfect until the store employee scoffed as at some poor mans book choices. The man was trying to sell his old books.The store clerk didnt have to buy all of them off him, but his loud and SUPER rude reaction made me feel so so sorry for this sad dude who admittedly only needed enough money to get a bus ride.After he left the guy left with head hung low, store clerk loudly discussed the book choices with someone across the store.Super pretentious and lacking of love. Be nice.

I cant say enough about a brick and mortar location for a bookstore. They are seemingly a dieing breed. ☹️ This particular new/used bookstore carries all genres for the avid reader. They also buy used books for cash or store credit. Its been at the current location on Valencia Street in The Mission neighborhood for years and I hope it never goes away. You deserve to pop in for a book or two, and Dog Eared Books deserves your repeated business.

Oklahoma independent pencil was forever underpants whenever I wished the thing to be not so much grey. Other than thump, I truly vomited where the lilacs grow before setting off to kokomo. Lets all pretend marvelous answers do not pretend theres antwerp only and forgive a limp raisin when others prevaricate. Always fungus, never solicitous- I begged the polling grader please return all mental regents of klondike rabbits among those who wash the will of glamis. Four stairs!

You gotta try the Tacos Chapulines (grasshopper), but get avocado too; the combo is great. The Al Pastor here is amazing too, as it has pineapple which is just perfect. If you are feeling brave, the Lengua or Cabeza are also delicious.
