Super cute place, loved entering and hearing traditional Hawaiian music. My only suggestion cus I want them to stick around would be to cut portions and prices. Poke bowl was $27! Before tip. Unheard of! Could make the bowl and many other items half the size and half the price. Much aloha

What once use to be morning wood is now a two for one. Welcome to Diamond Head General Store where you step into a glimpse of Hawaii for Atleast 20min. The entrees are hefty so come hungry or come ready to have leftovers. They amount of food they give you compared to other restaurants in the same group is unmatched.The menu ranges from original dishes like kalua pork, loco moco, spam Musubi, bbq chicken.They also have chef special dishes like the crispy Chilli chicken that will blow your mind. This place gets it rite every time.Crispy Chilli Chicken: sweet and crunchy very juicy pcs of chicken. Two scoops of Mac salad and a scoop of white rice.Sour candy: in house made sour watermelon strips.Mahi Mahi:two large pcs of fruikake panko crusted fish on a bed of cabbage with two scoops of rice and one scoop of Mac salad.

I read reviews about Diamond Head General Store when it first opened and finally made it over there December 29, 2023. If you love Hawaiian breakfast or lunch, this is the place to eat. I had the Loco Moco with chicken and the portion was HUGE, enough to feed me breakfast for three days! We also ordered the Crispy Garlic Chicken plate, which was also tender and delicious.Cant wait to go here when the weather is warmer to have shaved ice!

Great food!!! Charming people!! Its a fun market /small restaurant. I literally picked up the bag with the food in it and dropped way down it was so heavy. Ate 21/2 times. Really great flavor. First time come here on a Saturday lunchtime, putting the name on the waiting list and waited for almost 2 hours. The environment is pretty simple and delightful. Ordered a steak, sesame muffin and also appetizer muffin. Everything was so delicious and super super presentable. Totally worth the two hour wait. We were so blown away by how beautiful and tasty the food was.Second time come here on a Thursday lunchtime. Waiting for about 10 minutes, and got a table for five people. Realize they don’t serve steak during the week time, what a pity. Order some new dishes, still very very presentable, for the taste was just OK. Maybe my expectations were too high because of how good the food were at the first time.

Pro Tip: know that they automatically charge 15% tip and each dish is expensive and the plates are huge.We got the Mochiko chicken loco moco and Kahlua Pork with cabbage to split between 3 people and it destroyed us. We could only finish 2/3 of the food. Im usually a big eater but I wanted to save room for the mochi desserts but wow the food is so delicious but heavy I could not finish either dish.The salty dishes were the best. Desserts were good but standard though the Maladada was unique and tasty

A hidden gem! The restaurant is not too noticeable from the street. The interior, while spacious, feels a bit unfinished and homey.The main attraction here is the food, a Hawaiian-Japanese take on brunch. The fusion is a great success. The Asian flavors makes the genre feel fresh and tasty, without overwhelming the base dish.One issue is the speed of service. At the time of this writing it is still quite a new place. The server and kitchen both have yet to achieve peak operational efficiency.Another issue is parking. There is only a small lot shared by the restaurant along with other nearby businesses, aside from street parking right off busy El Camino Real. All other issues will be solved with time aside from this one.

Really good brunch spot! It gets very, very crowded, so I recommend getting there early. We waiting for about 45 min to 1 hour.- Cornbread was really good! The bacon jam and butter were great toppings, and loved the Japanese seasoning on the cornbread.- The Japanese breakfast was really good, especially with the kalbi sausage.- French toast was solid, but I thought the other dishes were better done.Props to them for the Freak Nasty reference!

I order the Shoyu shi and Hawaiian ahi and bast musubi and Mai Tai shave ice nonalcoholic. The food is amazing just a minor detail that wasnt good was one of the Ahi fish inside the Shoyu shi bowl was still frozen inside. Other than that, food was bomb! Very pricy. $26 for one bowl but youll have leftovers for when you get hungry again.

The chili fried chicken was awesome, and the mochi cake was mind-blowing! The people were all so nice, and it was fun chatting with the other people there. The general store is so fun to shop at, and we totally stocked up on goodies! Cant wait to go back for shave ice as it was too cold for it when we went. Arrive early (7am) and put your name on the waiting list. Restaurant opens at 9 am. If you are not present when they call your name you will be dropped. Food is excellent and portions are generous. I would recommend going with a group of 4 to try a bit of everything. Menus change monthly. Everything looked aesthetically appealing and everything tasted delicious. Recommendations: Kimchee Omorice, Kahlua pork loco Moco, mochi pancakes, fried chicken and japotatoes. Happy eating. Oh and if they have the devils spicy fried chicken on the menu, get it! I missed out on that menu.

Update Jan 12, 2019Came for friend birthday breakfast. Always nice to see new items on the menu to try. We got the updated French toast, good but I prefer the strawberry version. Yuiza butter pancakes, the previous matcha pancakes are more unique. You dip, we dip, we all dip this is a kalua pork French dip. I thoroughly enjoyed that it was outstanding.Updated review on July 21, 2018.So they update their menu on a monthly basis. Heart way too keep you coming back for more. Ordered kalua pork Bennie which is like eggs Benedict but with kalua, so yummy. But for in your face flavor the katsui curry chicken sandwich is it, omg this is so good. They are new so maybe they will put a large sign outside so its easier to spot. I had loco loco with beef patties and eggs over easy. The patties were nicely seasoned, not bland like some other places. My friend got the fried chicken biscuit with crack potatoes. Let me tell you they named those appropriately cause they are addictive. Chicken was so tender and delicious, it didnt need the gravy that we asked to be on the side. Biscuit was so buttery, omg so good. Btw that biscuit dish was good for big appetite. We were both so full we skipped lunch. Definitely will be back to try other stuff.Updated review. Visited a second time. Place is very busy. Barry is no nonsense when calling names to be seated, you better pay attention. Ordered the wake me up before you go go burger. Omg this is huge. Cant decided if I like the fried chicken biscuit more or this burger. It was excellent. A friend got the kaula pork hash, that was also good. Check the pics of the burger as they serve it and after I put it together. No way could eat it that way, ended up using fork and knife. My favorite breakfast place.

Amazing food at a great price, just make sure you arrive at least 30 minutes prior to the restaurant opening to get in with the first wave of people. Pretty small restaurant but good come out pretty quickly. Would highly recommend for brunch!

Looking for a local hidden gem that serves fusion Japanese Hawaiian family style dining with a dash of what you would expect at a classy French resturant? At least thats the experience we had, lines are long, wait time was close to 2 hours. Portions a big and can easily be shared, staff is awesome and friendly. For kicks be sure to look at the sign above the mens bathroom. Price is a little on the higher end (not extreme) but is it worth it, for us it definitely was. This was a great experience with great food, thank you and look forward to returning soon.

Get here early! Im talking an hour before opening so that you can be one of the first seated. I got there an hour before opening on a Sunday and was the third person there. The food is really hearty and on the heavy side. But I wouldnt wait more than 45 min for this place. The matcha pancake is good but I wouldnt get it again. The hapanese entree was really good, would try again. The Japanese Hot Chicken is incredibly spicy, to the point that it was not enjoyable. Even if you like spicy food, this might be too much and then it will be difficult to eat. Unlimited coffee refills for $5.

My husband signed up the list at 12:10 PM and we got the table at 1:30PM. we live around this area so we could signed up and stay home to wait then go back again.I would enjoy this place more if they could improve their waiting system by taking a reservation or taking phone numbers / automated sign up system.Though the wait time is crazy, Morning Wood is one of the most popular Japanese Hawaiian brunch around Millbrae and San Bruno areas.We had the Hapanese / Japanese Breakfast with 2 Kalbi patty on sides and the set came with pickles and a miso soup. It was a little salty, kalbi was delicious at first bite then it feels oily. The rice was overly hard to digest. Overall the taste is flavorful for few mins then it becomes quite difficult to finish the food.The Sesame Bread Pudding came with creams, sliced strawberries and few blue berries. It was warm and flavorful but not very healthy.. the golden butter melts on side makes me a bit hesitant to eat. if you make desert, youll know how many scoops of butter are within this Bread Pudding.Loco Moco sauce was pretty delicious, but its also very salty.Our bill total was about $63 with tips. I am not sure if this is worth by getting lots of rice, eggs, and sugar while the wait time is more than an hour.The menu changes seasonally which is cool but the overall food has high calories, expensive, and the portion is too large.I would rather have less portion, lower the price down a little bit, have more ways to eat different food with a smaller portion. Theres very few salads / veggies. Its all about sauces, extra rice, salt, gluten, sugar, butter, sausages/ meat. Even if this is authentic to Hawaiian meal, I really hope the restaurant provides some healthier options.I would recommend this place for a small party ( less than 4 people) and for someone who likes more flavorful foods.

Great find close to the airport. Portions were big and very filling! Kalua pork in the loco moco was great, super tender and there was no skimping on the amount inside. Got the bread pudding and I felt like we got a solid loaf almost, great stuff too! Will definitely be back. Worth the wait outside and this place definitely practiced and utilized their soups vide technique very well.

Delicious and creative breakfast entrees with generous size portions. This place just opened with limited staff, but service was very friendly and quick once we were seated. Yuzu flavored butter was wonderful with the homemade biscuit. The Japanese breakfast rice had a wonderfully dippy egg.

Went there for the shave ice only and it was absolutely perfect. Have been looking for one since I had it in maui, this came super close. We had the diamond special with the topping, I did not think the topping were great. But the base icecream (lychee) is super and so is the shave ice! Cute little grocery store for hawaiian stuff as well. Overall very pleasing experience.

I’m not from the area and stumble upon this place. There was no line when we got there around 1pm on Friday. We got the table right the way even thought the waitress seem super busy.We ordered loco moco, fried chicken, and the mochi pancake. Everything was so good!!!!!!! The portion is generous. The loco moco was great. The mochi pancake was fabulous! The fried chicken was cherry on top. The food came out quick. The service was friendly.This is a must try if you’re in the area!

I was excited to try this place after I saw it on TV. I went on a weekday morning before lunch. The macaroni salad that came with the food was too salty to eat, not a bit of pineapple nor celery. The Kalua pork tasted smoky but lacked flavor. The mochiko fried chicken was tasty but was soggy when I open the box to eat it at home. Overall, it was not as advertised.

We got the loco Moco (very standard with thick hamburger patty) and the bbq chicken plate (grilled and slightly crispy, best when eaten fresh). While the price seems high, the food amount is insane! My brother and I agreed one dish can easily feed two people. We loved the available masubis and shaved ice options and we agreed we would def come back to try more. The options in the trade shop are great and very fairly priced. If you have a chance to stop by and are craving Hawaiian food this is a good spot.

Long, crazy wait on weekends. Yes its popular, but really the overly long wait is because they are super inefficient. I would say they couldve saved me 20 minutes of waiting if they just took orders more efficiently, didnt leave 15% of the tables uncleaned for people to sit down and eat, or take 3 tries to call someone for the check. Workers didnt seem very friendly either.Service aside, its a pretty solid asian fusion breakfast place. I got to try the strawberry milk french toast and the holy shiitake scramble. Portions are big. Their crack potatoes are amazing! Perfectly seasoned and fried to a crispy. The scrambled eggs were filled with lots of asparagus, mushrooms and cheese. Served with the eggs are 2 slices of wheat buttered toast.The strawberry french toast took the longest to come out. The inside of the french toast was soft and custardy, while the outside was crispy. The toast comes out really hot. I had to cut a slice and let it cool down for a bit before trying to eat it.I thought it was a bit weird that they only give small to-go boxes per person. I came with a table of 3 and we ordered 4 plates and wanted 4 to-go boxes but they refused to give us 4 togo boxes saying they only give 1 to go box per person and would charge us per extra to go box. It was a small charge but I found it rather silly that the rule was per person and not per plate.Pretty pricey given the location and service, but the food was decent! Wish you could put down your phone number and they would call you when your table is ready instead of waiting around for 2 hours in their dingy parking lot.

Really amazing unique Japanese/Hawaiian inspired brunch dishes. Knocked it down to 4 starts because of the crazy wait... ~2 hours! Also, the tables inside were turned over super slowly. I assume that they have a really small kitchen and are purposely taking their time. Or at least I hope so. Really delicious food though so Id like to go back again. I recommend the okornomiaki - a take on okonomiaki but with a corned beef hash and potato Patty.

Incredible brunch! We got there around 8:35am on a Tuesday, waited for about 15-20 minutes, which wasnt too bad given there was only one server handling the entire restaurant. He was especially nice and hard working, great sense of humor, made the experience that much better. Food was delicious, no complaints, wish we could have ordered the entire menu! We had the green tea pancakes (soft, right amount of sweetness, didnt even require syrup), omurice (curry sauce was so good), and the okornomyaki (dont know what was in it but it was delicious). Will definitely be coming back again for more!

The FoodDiscovered Morning Wood a few years back, but they closed during the pandemic. They are now reopened, but more of a take out within a Diamond Head General Store. I came back to visit with a friend around lunch time. One thing I noticed is they do not have some of their breakfast items anymore like pancakes or omelette. We ended up ordering their Loco Moco, which is a sunny side egg over beef patty over rice. The meal, or dish if you will, came packaged in a box. (There is no table service, but there are bar seats, but everything is take out.) The Loco Moco is not bad. The egg was nicely cooked, and the sauce goes well with the rice. But the beef patty was a bit burnt. Felt like their quality degraded a bit after reopening.The MiscellaneousMorning Wood is still located in the same building as before. There is still a small area for parking, but otherwise it is street parking. The interior changed quite a lot though. The center got converted to store shelves, while the surrounding area is food order and seating. As mentioned before, the menu has changed with some items removed and some added. They have Hawaiian Style Shaved Ice now. The price also increased, but not so much the quality though. Hopefully they will expand back to what they used to be, along with more menu items.

Wow this is a must try place. Ok so the wait is about 2 hrs maybe 1.5hrs but is it worth it omg YES!!!!! My pictures show some of what you can get here but the mochi pancakes are to die for. The moco loco and the fire in your hole arent bad either. Delicious and well worth the wait. There are 4 parking spots right outside but plenty of street parking too.

It’s super popular so I’d expect at least a 5-10 min wait even at an obscure time.Food: I got the loco moco with Kalua pork and actually found the dish to be super unique and tasty! The portions are huge too and I didn’t finish all of my food. The sauce is delicious and I liked how the eggs were also placed at the top of the meat so you could get a good bite of rice, meat, and egg.Service: This was a bit slow and we had to wait 20-30 minutes for food inside so that made us super hungry by the time our food came around.Ambiance: This place is super hipster and the theming is super quirky if you can get past the name!Overall would want to come again and try the other stuff on the menu!

Long wait on the weekends! Waited about 50 minutes, on the sign in sheet, theres an estimated seating time depending where you are on the list. The line moved much faster than expected, the portions were large and definitely we could have had leftovers except we wouldnt have a place to store them so we had to eat it all! Had the green tea mochi pancakes, they said it takes longer than the other food, but it was definitely a reasonable wait! If I went back, I would go back with more people, or make sure I could take the pancakes home! Definitely quite sweet, more dessert like for breakfast

Wasnt too impressed. Avg about 25/pp after tax and tips. Their calculator adds tips after tax, which I thought was shady. The loco moco was good. Katsu Sando wasnt whole piece of meat, instead it was ground meat. Tasted like fried impossible burger which I didnt like. Didnt finish my order. Coffee was 5 bucks per person. I can have Starbucks Venti and refill as many times as I want for less money (being gold card holder). Oh and I gave it all back to the bathroom an hr after the meal. Go figured if it was the water served in the jar. Popular probably becuase food was great for IG post.

Completely disappointed! Was looking forward to visiting this establishment. Food is mediocre and pricey! Had the BBQ chicken. It was moist, tender and tasteless! Ono Hawaii has a better tasting BBQ chicken. The Mac salad is simply macaroni, mayonnaise and black pepper.Spam Musi I was “okay.”Do not waste your $$$ on the “Hawaiian” shaved ice. It’s not the fine shaved ice Hawaii is known for but is a “coarsest” grated shaved ice. While the shaved ice is of a big size, the syrup put on it is just lightly applied to the ice, which gives you plain ice underneath. Syrup was tasteless; and, in my opinion, was diluted. NOTHING LIKE HAWAII’s shaved ice. Paid $18 for 2 shaved ice (one had ice cream in it). We did not enjoy a much look forward to shaved ice. We tossed it!This is our first and last visit to Diesmobd Head General Store.

Excellent food and service! It truly was like having a Hawaiian breakfast! We were able to try the Japanese breakfast with mochiko chicken, the oh so loco moco, the fried chicken biscuit sandwich and finally the okornomiyaki! The okornomiyaki is a must if youre into corned beef hash! Ive never seen anyone make it this way but it was the most amazing thing Ive tasted for brunch in a long while!The butter mochi pancake was really unique as well! The edges were crispy while the centers had a nice, soft almost chewy mochi texture! It was just sweet enough as is, so go easy on the syrup!Keep in mind that the menu is ever changing! Holy cannoli it lives up to the hype. We waited about an hour and a half on a Saturday morning (arrived at 915am). We got the mochi matchi pancakes, hot Hawaiian (super super spicy fried chicken with delicious slaw on a kings hawaiian roll), and the Kevin Bacon. The Kevin Bacon is this huge volcano thing with friend rice under an omelette style egg with kimchi and Japanese spices and more.The wait was long but this place was 10/10 delicious. Arrived around 9:10am on a Tuesday. There was already a bunch of people waiting outside. You put your name on the waitlist and they wont seat you until your entire party is there. Ordered the happanese breakfast $20, Green tea bread pudding $12, and the Yuzu butter mochi pancake $18.The happanese breakfast included miso soup, choice of meat, rice bowl, and pickles. I choose the mochiko chicken which was essentially fried chicken with a mochi batter. I was not a fan of the mochiko chicken. It has a very sweet taste to it and the batter had a chalky texture to it. Miso soup was on of the better ones that I have had. the rice came with sous vide eggs, furikake, and a sweet soy sauce. The rice was very good but nothing you cannot make at home.Green tea bread pudding was piping hot, moist, and not too sweet. It had a strong green tea flavor. Definitely would recommend.Mochi pancake was good because the mochi gave it a nice chewy texture but I didnt like it because it was dry. They were HUGE. Sadly, Quicklys mochi waffle was better then this.The food was good but not worth the hour wait. Personally I feel this place is overrated. I would go back again if there was no/very short wait.

Menu is a piece low grade color paper. The first two items at $12 are actually dessert with vague description. Both are delicious though. The hapanese breakfast has special rice flavor. The two egg breakfast is ok. Oh so loco Moco is good too. The restaurant demands at least 18% tip. The location and appearance of the place is a regular busy street side Cafe. Prepare for a side street parking. In all, this is a little bit overpriced cafe for their food, location and ambiance.

I would have given it two stars for the food but the service was terrible. The people that were sitting next to us came in the same time we did and finished eating and packed their boxes before our food was even served. I ordered the katsu burger and there was no taste from the slaw, chicken, cheese, or bread. The only thing I tasted was the curry sauce and I wasnt a fan of it. I also love potatoes and finish them almost every time, but I couldnt bring myself to finish the potatoes served here because of the seasoning, the only saving grace was that they were a little crispy and soft.

Very cold inside... No really like the jacket that I always take off because Im too warm wasnt warm enough. Eating with your jacket on was a bummer. Food was good though we ordered black seeded bread pudding, Loco Moco, the Japanese sausage, Yuzu pancakes and it was a little pricey but tasty. Save your money on the hot chocolate and Kona coffee. No refills on the hot chocolate at 3.50 and refills on the very tiny almost (very close) demitasse coffee cup at 4.50 a cup. We had a gruff, stern server with great colored braces who seemed either distracted or just wasnt a people person help along with two young ladies. Food came in waves which meant I ate my eggs and sausage without the luxury of my super yummy Yuzu pancakes. Portions were large so take a friend or two.Weekend waiting outside and for the pancakes and something else I cannot remember are at least an hour and half long the server said. Every Thursday the menu supposedly changes. Weekday wait wasnt as long of a wait if you get there before 8:30 and they opened at 9. Kitchen is small possibly and maybe cooks arent able to make food fast without seasoned line staff. Do be in a hurry if you make it in and read the rules at the front before sitting down. A very friendly breakfast spot, with a unique fusion menu. The Matcha Mochi Pancakes are awesome, lightly sweet and flavored, with a chewy mochi texture. I recommend the double since each pancake is the size of a plate. The Kalua Park Melt was big, but not very greasy, good flavor filling but not bloating. Come early cause there is a line, we got there at 0830 and didnt get seated till 9AM. Theyre very friendly and acknowledge how packed and busy they get, and do their best to control the chaos to provide for an enjoyable experience.

Line is always long on the weekend. We came here on a Thursday 10mins before opening and there was already a short line (about 5 parties). They control the crowd on how many people can go in at a time, even though there are lots of tables available. Just a tip, make sure to write your name on the wait list even it is only a short line or if there are tables open. They want you to wait outside and they’ll just call your name. Also, make sure your party is complete, otherwise they wont sit you down (even if there’s lot of tables available). Food was good, a little pricey but the portions are huge so I guess that’s okay.

Each dish we had had its own unique flavor profile, so there wasnt a lot of food that just tasted the same. My favorite was the Hapanese breakfast, which I will be back for the next time Im here. It mixes perfectly with the gravy..my favorite dish. The kahlua pork was also very good, however the chicken won me over. The Beast sandwich was also really good. Youll need a fork and knife for this sandwich though as it can get very messy. The crack potatoes were really good as well. Crispy, sweet, salty and a blend of spices...leave you wanting more.The service was pretty decent. They fill your water often and bring the food out as quick as they can. My only complaint was the brought out the loco moco with pork and then it took 10-20 more mins for the other two dishes to come out. Id have preferred if all the dishes came out at the very least, within a couple minutes of each other.Would I come back...yes, but not anytime soon. Lets start with The restaurant. As soon as you walk in You get hit with a smell of some good cookin. The seating arrangements are a little snug in the center but if you get a table close to a wall or window youre good. The paint on the walls is a little tacky it really doesnt fit the Japanese Hawaiian vibe that this place is going for. Reminds me of a 7yr old kids bedroom or a middle aged librarians bathroom. The ceiling had spots on it very dirty and cold. Lets get to the food. We got our food about 13mins after we ordered it, came out hot and I must say the presentation was excellent! They make their food look good! I ordered the the Fire in your hole fried chicken. Which is Japanese spicy fried chicken Ginger slaw with and a toasted cruffin over a sunny side up egg with a rack of country potatoes. The chicken was Crispy but a little overpowering with the seasoning which tasted Like the devils a****** It is pretty dam Spicy. The slaw was good not to tangy or acidic, and the potatoes were on the salty side,Kind of reminded me of the Red Robin Seasoning super salty (yuck). The one thing I did really enjoy was the cruffin. We arrived hungry and were a bit dismayed to be quoted a 2 hour wait. Im a huge fan of Hawaiian comfort food, its one of my favorites in fact. So we grabbed a number from the friendly staff member at the front desk and decided we would run errands for an hour and head back to see where we stood. It appeared there were a fair number of people who decided they couldnt wait and it would be our turn fairly soon. After another 15-20 minutes we were seated. We ordered a lot since we thought we probably would never sit through the wait again and wanted to sample what this place had to offer. The menu seems to change a bit, I dont know how often. We ordered the cornbread, strawberry milk french toast, kalua pork loco Moco, and the PEC. This was one of the most delicious meals I have had. I couldnt believe it would be worth the wait. Ive been let down by hype and long lines before but this made up for the long line and somewhat odd wait-list method. The corn bread was a moist, fluffy, tender and yet still substantial piece of heaven. It had pieces of nori and puffed soy(?) That added a unique flavor and texture to compliment the honey butter that was served alongside. The french toast was three pieces and the bottom slice was soaked or possibly injected with strawberry milk along with an egg batter. The top two pieces were more of a standard custard like egg batter. They used a soft challah like bread that slightly reminded me of a Portuguese sweet bread. The French toast was tender and delicious and topped with butter, sliced strawberries, puffed soy and a strawberry poki skewered them together. The loco Moco had a thick flavorful rich gravy covering some of the best kalua pork Ive had including the kalua pork Ive had in Hawaii. Eggs and rice were cooked perfect and on top was what I thought to be a type of pickled daikon that added a great flavor and texture to a dish I already thought was perfect. The PEC was like a burger except instead of a beef Patty they use a home made Portuguese sausage Patty with cheddar cheese, tea leaf aoili and jalapeno all topped with a fried egg. It was incredibly good and I didnt want it to end. After our meal I went and thanked the chefs before leaving and I look forward to going back. Just not looking forward to the wait.

The WORST customer service. It was our first time here. We got here at 9:20 and immediately stood in line, which wrapped all the way around the corner. It wasnt until after we moved up around the corner (after a 1.5 hour wait) that we realized we had to put our name down. The waiters try to avoid the customers???? No one answers the phone. The wait is beyond acceptable. An hour long wait for 2 people. The printer paper menus are wrinkled or soggy. No pictures on the menu, no seating for waiting outside. Great placeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

I was hesitant at first after seeing all of the reviews about the 2 hour wait. But rest assured, the wait is worth it.I will say, however, The Loco Moco is overrated. The Miso Corny was easily the best thing I tasted there

Drove from a long way to check it out and pick up some snacks and food....was closed when we arrived, during normal business hours. Very disappointed that I wasted so much time. Business should consider making sure their hours are accurate on Google. Not everyone wanting to visit is a local. We came from out of state just to get our Diamond Head fix and get some Grindz.

Just had the absolute worst experience in my entire life attempting to dine in. Before I walk into this restaurant, a sign on the door says Come in were open and awesome, however the complete opposite scenario unfolded. The first thing a waiter says when she sees me is go back outside and put your name on the waitlist, shooing me away with her hand. Mind you the place isnt packed, there are several tables clean, and available, also theres no one on the waitlist on this frigid Tuesday afternoon. I look at her confused and astonished by her poor attitude and go back outside to the 40 degree weather. I shouldve walked out on this first rude interaction.Im waiting for a good 10 minutes when I go back inside. I ask to see a manager since the waitress who shooed me away outside clearly wasnt trained and lacked in basic restaurant etiquette. The manager apologized for her behavior. I asked her why is this a policy to shoo customer back outside to the cold when clearly Im not blocking the entrance. Instead of her properly assessing the situation and seating me she continues to argue. By far the rudest person in this situation was Chad the owner. I was appalled when he came out extremely hostile and walked right up to my face. His lack of professionalism and hostile behavior is what made my jaw drop. He literally yells at my face the reasoning behind forcing customers to wait outside is due to this hole in the wall establishment having been sited for their poorly designed entrance. So now they force their customers to wait outside before being called in.Ive gotten better customer service in the sketchiest parts of SF, such as the Tenderloin neighborhood. Dont dine here if youre accustomed to basic customer service and etiquette. As Nicole U. noted in her review .. the way we were treated was just not right and anyone with a common sense of restaurant etiquette would know this. Many other people have had similar extremely rude experiences here. Im not surprised as I read some and relate to their horrendous experiences. There are just too many great restaurants around here for the owner to act pretentiously rude, that behavior will only lead to the demise of your business Chad.

Delicious Hawaiian-fusion food. Cornedbeeforice was a little strange as the sweet sauce overpowered the lightly flavored garlic fried rice/corned beef mix. The loco Moco was delicious with the mochico chicken.

The portions were insanely large, which was a huge plus for me. If youre not a huge eater, I suggest getting an entree to share and some extra sides like the spam musubis or other things in the grocery part of the store.

Generous serving sizes. Id eat here every day if I could. Look them up on Instagram for their menu of the day. Dont sleep on the matcha bread pudding.

Poor service and terrible attitude, they force people to leave by cleaning up the table without your consent. There are people had stayed way longer than us, I don’t understanding why they treated us this way. The truth is the food is also overrated. Will never consider to go back.

One star for staff communication only.I expected a wait so I tried to call ahead to see if it was worth making the detour on our way down from SF on a Saturday morning. Their website says call now yet no one answered. I tried three times, double checked the number. When we got there at noon, the staff said the wait list was closed and that they were too busy to answer the phone.It doesnt seem like they have fixed the staffing issues since opening months ago. If they are still here in a year, maybe I will try to stop by again.

Absolutely delicious. Try the kahlua pork Loco moco and the French toast. I had the matcha French Toast but it changes throughout the year. Its a must try!

Liked it, didnt like the wait. Get the Loco Moco with crispy chicken. Dont let your eyes do the ordering, or you will over order. Go with a bunch of people and share.

Waited and stood in line for an hour like everyone else (mostly first time customers) who were oblivious about a sign-up sheet they had at the front door. Meaning to say we all look like a bunch of idiots who stood in unnecessary line for hours and not one staff ever came out to inform the crowd about a sign up sheet. A lot of us customers were upset and left. Will not be coming back!
