I am deeply disappointed with the service we received at Del Ray Optometry. Initially, we were told that our glasses would take two weeks, but the process dragged on for nearly two months. We were left in the dark, having to call after two weeks to check on the status, only to be told after three weeks that my husbands frames had broken at their lab. Which seem crazy as they are ballistic frames that just needed the lenses replaced. Instead of taking responsibility, they claimed he had signed a waiver to initial cover their butts. The waiver was irrelevant to the labs fault. At first we tried to be understanding that things happen and I said Id be happy to wait a week to see what the Practice Manager could do to find a solution. I did not receive a call at the end of the week and had to call to check in both that Friday and the following Monday.My frames eventually took another week, totaling four weeks, and it required multiple calls from us to get any updates as well. The lack of communication was frustrating. Even when we finally picked up our glasses, there was no apology for the extended delay, nor any acknowledgment of their lab breaking the frames. In fact the point person we worked with lied to my husband and said he didnt call me back only one time. Not true.The whole experience was poorly handled. We were initially hopeful to find a regular optometrist, but this incident has completely put us off. The exam itself was unimpressive; the equipment was not cleaned before use, and the office appeared dingy in several areas. While we were willing to overlook these issues, their failure to communicate and take responsibility was too much.To make matters worse, we now cant use our insurance benefits for another year, and my husband is stuck with sunglasses that dont fit properly. We had to push hard to ensure the broken frames were replaced, which should never have been our burden. Based on this experience, I cannot recommend Del Ray Optometry to anyone.

Dr Emilie Endow is incredibly amazing. She is knowledgeable and experienced far beyond her age. I have visited many ophthalmologists and optometrists over the years and her service stands out totally. She is also patient, a good listener and explains my issues clear and simple. I have never been able to learn so much about eye health. I’m glad I got her to examine my eyes. Highly recommend her. You will be happy with the results.

I’ve been coming here for ten years and all the doctors are top notch. Knowledgeable, professional and always listen to my concerns. I had a blood vessel burst in my eye and I was worried about possibly causing damage internally. I was examined and put at ease; though scary looking on the outside it was perfectly ok. Would recommend 💯

Thanks to Maria, our new insurance was accepted. The location is easy to reach and well decorated. The staff is professional and the technology is very good. Were glad to remain in the Del Rey care. We later learned that our daughter was a customer here until she moved to the valley.

Del Rey Optometry is wonderful!I needed a repair to my reading glasses, and I had been using an Optometrist in Marina Del Rey, but literally live across the street from Del Rey.They repaired my glasses in minutes, helped me pick out a new pair of frames I love as backups. My script was over year old, so they booked me the next day for a complete exam.Within 24 hours, they repaired my existing pair, did a new exam, and had a new pair being created. Also, you could meet a nicer group of people!I wont go anywhere else for my eye care and needs.

Great after sale service! I bought a new pair of glasses there but the frame was broken. As it’s still in the warranty, they helped me contact the manufacturer and replace it right away, and adjust the new one for me when it is ready as I the first time I bought it. Dr. Lin is a gem, who really takes time to understand all of the patients concerns. She has been seeing my teenage son for two years, since his transition from glasses to contact lens wearing. Not only does she take excellent care of patients from the clinical perspective; she also gets to know them and remembers anecdotes from past conversations. That level of attention makes these visits a pleasure. The whole office staff is warm and professional, too. Were very pleased with Del Rey Optometry and would recommend without hesitation.

Staff is great! Dr. Pennino was wonderful. She took the time to examine my eyes thoroughly and extended herself to make sure the eyewear and prescription was the right one for me. While I work on a computer all day, she made sure distance was correct and compared the old frames distance to the new prescription. I will be back! =)

I went in to routinely examine my eyes and they found I had a torn retina. Immediately they called and referred me the very next day to a retina specialist since I was due to fly to Europe in a few days. There due diligence let the retina specialist lazar my eye and a few days later I could safely fly. I appreciate how professional they responded to what they found. Thank you!!

Not sure how they have 5 stars. Issues:1-took 3 weeks to get my contact lens prescription though I called and emailed collectively about 8+ times. The doc said my preferred lenses were discontinued (not true/she then acknowledged this mistake) but still gave me samples.2-The samples were the wrong size and made everything blurry.3-I told the office about the bad lenses and asked for my prescription again and again, but the doc went on vacation and noted my preferred lenses were discontinued (incorrect!! she was corrected!!) so the office didnt want to give me my old prescription again so that created a whole 3-week delay.4-The doc KNEW I had to drive and go back to my work/computer, she still dilated me sayin it would take 10 mins. 10 mins to dilate but FOUR HOURS of not seeing up close. Not safe (I was driving), not considerate, not caring, not accurate info.5-Doc also referred me to a specialist bc I asked a question at the end. She then did a hm.. let me see kind of thing and sent in a referral but said shes pretty sure its nothing. If I need a specialist why didnt see see that in the 2 hour exam? Was the referral part of a bonus situation? The people she referred me to never called me back so its all a network of fails. Also-- now that I asked for my records so I can go elsewhere, the referral says something different than what she told me.In all I would say STAY AWAY. I only went here bc of the reviews after my own amazing optometrist in the area became unavailable. I called my original optometrists office after this fiasco and they said they had several complaints about this optometry. I also talked to a neighbor who went to their Marina location and said he got glasses with upside down lenses and had to wait to get them redone.Definitely a TERRIBLE place. VERY nice staff but the docs serial mistakes and lack of care are not good.Im not going back. Try Pacific EyeCare Center in the network or better doctors. I verified and asked my old doctors office. Im going there next year.

I travel an hour one way just to see Dr. Lin. I couldn’t see very well with my prior optometrist and a friend recommended Dr. Lin. and all doctors at Del Rey Optometry. Dr. Lin adjusted my prescription and I see great now. Dr. Lin is kind, very devoted to her patients and very knowledgeable. She will do whatever it takes to help her patients.

Paul worked with me afterwards to get all of my prescription details sorted out, and helped with making sure I had all the info I needed before leaving. Updating my review as I am now a patient of Dr. Endow. She is very thorough and attentive in trying to find the best combination of contact lenses and readers for my complex prescription. I continue to recommend Del Rey Optometry highly.Previous review: I have been a patient of Dr. Sungs for several years now and could not recommend her more highly. I have a very complicated prescription, and she takes the time to tweak it to make sure we are correcting my vision as well as we can. With the pandemic, the practice has stepped up to the challenge of maintaining their quality of service with added precautions. You must: wear a mask at all times; call the office from the parking lot when you arrive; have your temp taken and confirm you have no COVID symptoms before entry. All machines and surfaces are disinfected and there are plexiglass barriers between you and staff. Yes, you do have to sit in the chair in an exam room with the doctor, but they leave the door open for circulation and the doctor is masked. She primarily makes adjustments to the machine (1? or 2?) via the computer, several feet away. I felt very safe and still recommend without doubt.

Weve been going to Del Rey Optometry for several years. Every time I am impressed by the thoroughness of their care. Both of my (highly energetic) kids wear glasses and Ive never felt rushed or pressured as weve sorted through all the options and insurance coverages while they bounce around the office. My eye doctor was very knowledgeable and provided great information on the changes of my eye sight and why she chose the type of lenses that she did.The two assistants and the front desk person were also friendly and courteous. They’ve had an assistant in the past that was overly pushy like a sales guy, but I didn’t see him there.When I mentioned that I had to leave soon to make another appointment, they respected that and I did not have to sit around and wait (I’ve had to do that there in the past.)So this visit was a great experience.

I’ve been going to the same optometrist for over 20+ years, but decided to find one closer to our new home. It was a hard decision, but one that I do not regret at all. The staff is very friendly and efficient. I saw Dr. Lin and she’s phenomenal. I love that she explains every little thing and offers different solutions with cost factored. I had a very good experience with my visit to the Del Rey Optometry. From the staff that opens the door, signs me in, the technicians that do the pre-exam testing, the doctor and the help with deciding the new frames, all were very friendly and explained and answered all my questions I had. Very patient (which made the visit more comfortable) and with my lack of understanding of the eye and the problems that might arise. They show concern and made me understand the future problems I might have and for me to keep up with my future exams before things get worse with no return of my eye sight if I do not take seriously the need to have my check ups. Overall, friendly and patient which means a lot for me.

I trust the optometrist at Del Rey Optical. My prescriptions are accurate and the eye glass selection is premium. The staff is wonderful and very patient. Ive been coming to Del Rey Optometry for years. I really like the doctors and the assistants everyone is friendly and helpful. I recently went and the lab they work with lost one pair of glasses and broken my main pair of glasses. Del Rey called me weekly trying to make sure I knew what was going on, help rectify the lost/ broken glass and amazingly helpful!!

Let me state that the entire staff is concerned about our safety and theirs as well. They take all steps and precautions to ensure every ones good health. They only allow entry to their shop to people with appointment. Then check your temperature and ask questions to screen your current condition.I had my annual check up and before I could enter the testing areas they disinfect all chairs, machines surfaces and disinfect upon my departure. Del Rey Optometry has easy to schedule appointments with a variety of appointment times including after work (6pm) and Saturday appointments. This year my appointment was quick but thorough, in and in less than a hour. With, little to no waiting time. No need for new frames or lenses this year, so I cant comment on their current frame selection but last year they had an excellent selection of frames and were speedy with glasses turn around. First time at this optometry practice and I was very pleased. The optometrist took time to help me decide on a strategy for the type of eyeglasses I need. Even though it was closing time, the optician helped me choose a pair of glasses without rushing me. Although the shop is small, they have a good selection of eyewear available. The other staff members are so friendly. Very good vibes in this practice. They all wear masks and have hand sanitizer available, and are only letting people into the office if they have appointments. So it feels very safe.

They have helped me choose frames many times and have given me sound advice. Del Rey takes my VSP insurance and offers discounts whenever possible. I am able to drop in to have my frames tightened or adjusted whenever necessary. They are followng ALL COVID protocols and I feel safe when I am there. There are two locations for Del Rey Optometry. Although the Marina del Rey location is closer for us, we prefer to go to the Playa del Rey location because of Dr. Ivy Lin. She is very personable, shows her caring and concern for the entire family, and professional. Since I am diabetic, she has to do my yearly diabetes exam and puts together a write-up for my physician. Additionally, the optician, Lori Mata, does a wonderful job adjusting our glasses and helping us keep our costs down. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
