Staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. Ill admit they are not all experts in their sales products or departments but they are really enjoyable to be around.This place gave me a positive shopping experience, and I believe it will give you one too.They literally have everything outdoors here, from snow gear, to sunglasses, diving gear, camping gear, running gear, and other sports gear.Hope you have as great of an experience as I did. This is an amazing store! Really friendly staff. You wont find a better sporting goods selection in the entire bay area, they have equipment for 80 sports. High quality + low prices = amazing value.

Decathlon is finally open at the east bay and its the most incredible place to go if you are a active person. Hiking? Biking? Golfing? Escalating? Camping?? Swimming? Pretty much any outdoor activity... You need to come here and visit all different sections. But take your time and youll find everything you need

Decathlon is a French sporting goods retailer, like a French REI. I went to the grand opening in Emeryville. The 1st customers on Saturday morning and we were applauded, filmed and photographed as we walked in. It is an impressive square footage of retail space designed well with an ample parking lot. There are lots of demo and try the gear sections. I went from camping gear and marveled at a two-room tent. I was surprised with variety of departments: climbing, cardio, hiking, equestrian, yoga, biking. The one thing that concerned me was my lack of brand recognition. The retailer develops and sells its own brands, which the company characterizes as passion brands. Each sport or group of sports has a separate brand name: There were great prices on items but being unfamiliar with the shoe and clothing brands I did not buy anything. I may after a little more research get curious again and buy something.

I call Decathlon as Mecca for sports lovers. And I am so glad they have opened first full fledged store. Store is slick n full of stuff for almost all the sports.Their products are real Value for money n of grade 1 quality. And most of their products have 1 yr warranty. Must visit if you are into any kind of sports or otherwise.

Store is pretty big with a stuff for all sports. They don’t have a big selection for footballs but everything else seems to have at least two or three options for items that you might want.The store has some testing areas which is really nice to have and the way they are running the store is really cool with the checkouts being done on phones.

The brand is pretty famous in France, and just started in the US. It has a European vibe, the quality is definitely above average but not Patagonia, the price is very decent, we got 2 kids bike for under $300 and our kids love it!

First time in this store. Floor samples to try before buying exercise equipment. This came in handy as I bought a Domyos EB120 stationary bike. Compact size, but will hold up to 300#s of body weight.Two year warranty, based on an average use of 3 hours per week. On sale for less than $200.

They have items for almost every recreational activity. This store is huge with multiple price tiers for each item as well which I thought was cool. It gives customers options on how they want to shop. Everything in the store is priced very competitive and you can find almost anything you are looking for. Some of the prices were shockingly low as I was doing my first walk through. There are also check out stands everywhere in the store which made it easy to shop and pay for items. Overall great experience and awesome customer service from the employees. If I ever need anything I would definitely check out Decathlon.

Ordered my quecha 3 person 2 second tent from this company the 28 the of June and received a used broken tent july 2nd. Opened the box and nothing was right about this tent the rods were broken, tent was torn, the connectors were scratched up, it wasnt the tent I ordered, had grass and dirt inside the tent! Used and not brand new well call on June 3rd and they discount me 40 dollars and was told they will priorities my tent. Called today July 7th and they have not done nothing was done I will not be ordering from this company ever again!

I had such a great experience shopping here that I felt compelled to write them a review.Before Christmas I was looking to purchase a set of kids golf clubs for my son to play with me during his winter break. I looked online and there was only ONE store that had anything in stock that was decent and it was Decathlon. Despite it being over an hour drive away, I thought it would be worth it to swing out and pick up the set I saw online. Before going I called the store and spoke with someone who was very helpful and went to the floor to double check that they had that set in stock. Lucky for me, the had one and he offered to hold it for me till I got there.I had never heard of Decathlon before prior to this experience and I was surprised how huge the store was and the wide range of sporting products they had when I walked in. Who knew?!In any case, I was able to gran and go thanks to the wonderful associate that held onto the clubs for me. However, after returning home I realized that one of the pieces was missing. Tried contacting corporate customer service and they said I had to contact the store. After contacting the store, they were surprisingly able to find the missing piece and was going to keep it there for me. Unfortunately because its such a long drive I wasnt able to swing by for 2 weeks. I reached out again and they kindly offered to mail it to me.I am just very happy with their customer service so Id recommend this store for sure.

I have been shopping at this store for a while, so they came to mind when I needed a new seat for my bike. I visited their bike department and received great customer service. I ended up purchasing a bike that was a better size and better suited for the type of riding I want to do. Since Ive purchased the bike, it has needed adjustments here and there. The staff has been helpful in making the adjustments as well as teaching me about my bike along the way. Special shout out to Oscar and Sebastian as they have taught me the most! I definitely recommend this location.

Really enjoyed our visit. My kids were able to run around and demo stuff, which is neat. It means the store is not uptight and I didnt have up stress myself from running around taming the kids. I was able to shop while the kids explored. Very grateful for that.Cons: I have small feet so I was disappointed to see that the kids shoes werent as stylish as the adults. They dont have bathrooms for costumers so, I had to leave quickly to target, the nearest restroom. Luckily my kids didnt have to go or need diaper changing cus that wouldve been a disaster. Please have public bathrooms to create better shopping experience!

Huge place. Lots of things. Lots of security. The help people are young, helpful and friendly. No competition for REI as far as I could see. Quality seems different but definitely glad to have another choice.A note to future customers: you cannot pay with cash. Cards are accepted and Google pay works well ( I assume that Apple pay does too). If you dont have the above they have a machine where you can buy a gift card, presumably with money, and pay with the gift card. Am I the only one who had no idea?.

Brand opening of this store in what used to be the Toys R Us. Very large interior with plenty of aisles to browse through. All of their items are their own brands so theyre able to keep things pretty affordable. Some of their items such as their camping gear seemed pretty unique in their designs. They have you covered on most sports you can think of from camping to horseback riding to golf. Great place to check out and affordable!

This place tries to rip you off by NOT taking cash. They make you buy one of their cards, for$3 and then you buy their stuff with their card. They do have good security though. I watched someone shoplift, the security guard has an app on his phone that reads barcodes, even deeply hidden, so if you leave a pricetag on something and try to steal it, they easily catch it. Outside of that, this store sucks.

Bought an overpriced speed rope here, and it completely fell apart after a few uses -- the plastic covering wore off so I was essentially jumping rope with a wire. They didnt accept my return stating it wasnt used on gym floors and the manager was incredibly rude about it. Couldnt get her name of course. Better off with any of the other sports stores around here. Disappointed because some of the staff were nice but I mean... Come on. Bad product and rude managers.

I was there looking for hiking shoes. Some shoes seemed to have construction flaws with the bigger sizes, as some poorly stitched parts were constantly poking/rubbing against the upper side of the foot. I ended up buying shoes for $100 and later found that Decathlon sells the exact same shoes for $70 on their Europe website. Note that these are the regular prices, no discounts involved. That demonstrates really bad value for US buyers.Also, many shoes are real toe crunchers. Youre forced to buy 1 size bigger than usual just because those shoes are not wide enough in the toe area.Cannot recommend.

In my opinion, you can not beat decathlon for value. The clothes fit me much better than American brands. Ive shopped at their stores all around the world. The return policy is good. I could sing their praises for days.So why 3 stars? Because I have made 3 separate orders online and each time, Im told the items are not in stock after making the order. in addition all the normal sizes are missing from so many items. I know you think Americans are all fat but come on, stock some medium sizes please. The online system is just total garbage. Sad thing is this was the case in Europe as well. Decathlon, how about joining the 21st century?I have been telling people this is my favorite store and now Im embarrassed. This store is really nice compared to other sporting goods stores because they have a lot of equipment and products that you can try and sample before you buy like saddles, bikes, scooters, punching bags, golf putters, exercise equipment, badminton sets, etc.Prices are very reasonable because they sell items that they also manufacture like sportswear. Items appear to be of good quality and they dont accept cash for pay.

This store is the best! For those that dont know, this is a french company that is the Ikea of Sporting Goods. The price and quality is always right here and blows REI out of the water. Everything in the store is its own brand... and they have everything!I want to give a special shout out to Marc, who helped me out with a curbside pickup the other week. He went above and beyond to make sure the handoff was safe, seamless, and amazing. If the corporate folks are reading this... keep that guy around! :)

Good deals on cheap gear. The compromise is that its a half baked system for a large store retail experience that specializes in sporting goods and outdoor gear. The inventory is random, hit or miss, shoe selection consistently has huge sizing gaps, the bike department, honestly, is a joke but there are occasional deals to be found supplied by reliable Taiwanese companies such a Microshift. This place is worth a visit but often leaves me scratching my head wondering just WHAT were they thinking???Ultimately, this can be noticed in the faces of employees and staff. It occurs to me that they might bee wondering the same thing.While I can understand why this business might be popular in Europe, I believe that they fall short, overall, by USA common experiences with large retail stores.Perhaps in The Midwest but in The Bay Area it just seems to be another big budget store but with an awkward and unreliable system of service.

Good stuff overall. Some cheap things but the return policy works very well. They just won’t take back items with tags detached. I have noticed that avoiding their cheapie line and going for the more pricey things is the way to go.I do not live nearby so most of my experience is online. Shipping is FAST. I have been to the store twice. Once in person when it was new and LOVED the horse section. Another time more recently but they took away the horse section completely.One star off because they seem to be phasing out of Fouganza, the horse riding gear, online, too. They aren’t marketing their horseback riding section correctly. Sizing uses different system across various products, with inconsistent systems— in inches for some products and cm for others. Blankets sometimes use a different measurement of the horse than others (such as the back of mane to tail vs chest to tail). Or they just say SML and no one even knows bc the conversion is up in the air, and it is very difficult to find the chart. The naming of the items is poorly translated. Also no one has even heard of them in the horse world, which speaks to lazy marketing.Decathlon has not even tried to make Fouganza accessible for the US before taking it away.If you know what you are looking for and have some sense of how items are measured (and can convert cm to inches) you can find good items for you/your horse. But they have not made their systems consistent and have not bothered to figure out basic things like sizing and naming in the US.There is definitely a market for the horse line. Everyone to whom I have suggested their horse items love it, and the prices cannot be beaten by anything here in the US. So why take all the equestrian gear away before even trying?Maybe the Fouganza line needs its own store in a more horse oriented neighborhood. With staff it that knows how to size and translate the names.

Worse experience ever! I couldnt even get in the store. I have a small bag with my camera, my wallet and phone. I got harassed by 3 security members as I was crossing the doors. I explained it was my camera and they kept insisting. I left. I went to Target and I got what I need it. Going back to Sports Basement where they have not issues with my bag!

The Ikea of outdoor/sports gear is finally here in a big way! Its overwhelming to enter this store for the first time, because they have so much stuff. Take your time browsing through the aisles and you may even be surprised by what you find. Great value for the money for women especially — And since they are euro based the men’s clothing comes down in a small enough size so you aren’t forced to wear the usual impractical and less pretty women’s sports gear, although the women’s stuff is better here than other stores (pockets exist and not everything is in pale colors). The prices can’t be beat and there are a lot of genuine innovations here. A measure of excellence is the socks // the men’s socks are definitely great so it passes the test like Uniqlo does: affordable but not cheap and especially with the men’s gear it can be stylish !

4th time in the store and will be the 2nd to last time I go here after I return some running shoes.They brand/market themselves as high quality but affordable. This is because they use cheap materials. They charge premium prices on their clothing items that are all super cheap synthetic polyester. This is why they are able to cut prices so dramatically during their black friday sales period.The store is annoying to navigate because it is organized by sports so while looking for rain coats. I had to thoroughly check the hiking, mountaineering, sailing, and other areas which is very cumbersome after a long day of work on my feet. It was helpful to browse online which then have all relevant items in one place but then had to remember or keep a list of where to search in store to try them out. I hope they fail like other big sporting retailers in the US have recently.

Large selection of reasonably priced sports gear, from ballet shoes to horse saddles. The clothes and shoes are in European sizes, and the shoes only come in one width. Weight lifting equipment is not good quality. The weekly sales can be incredible bargains. The store atmosphere is laid back and they let you try out most of the equipment from the ping-pong tables to the slacklines. Remember that they are a cashless store, so bring your credit card.

I am a wildland Firefighter. I had a situation on a fire where a wind storm damaged my tent and made it unusable. I contacted decathlon because their products came recommended. However, upon contacting them and explaining my situation and needing expedited shipping to get a new tent before a major storm came thru. They were very slow to reply and told me that they would not give me expedited shipping even though I offered to pay for it. So tonight I will be sleeping in the rain. Thank you guys for taking care of the firefighters needing help protecting your homes, land and assets. If you have unique situations don’t expect these folks to be of much help or get back to you in a very timely manner.

Lots of inexpensive sporting goods. I went on a Sunday and it was a madhouse of people zooming around on scooters, shooting baskets, and launching suction cup arrows at a target.I ended up getting a beginners petanque set for a really good price, and Ill probably go back for the suction cup arrows later.

A word of caution to anyone considering buying their 79 x 1 weight bar. Its not 1, its almost 1 1/8 and neither brand of 1 plates I have will go on the bar. Instead of going through all of the hassle to return it, I had it machined down to 1 at the cost of $100. They have apparently decided not to take any action. So be advised the bar is useless for 1 plates.

If you are looking for sporting goods, they have you covered. Fishing, equestrian, bikes, scooters, skateboards, balls, shoes, camping, hiking, swimming... etc. Other than a few brands like Garmin, the products are made by (for?) Decathlon, so it seems a bit like IKEA in that regard. Cashless is a bit weird (in general not just here)

Good store in general and perfect store to get into a new sport hobby. That said, some stuff is ridiculous like about 10 types of sunglasses for hiking. Prices are higher than Singapore store that I love and sizing runs smaller than your traditional American sizing. Biking stuff is ok and and on par with Amazon as well as internet sales on stuff like primal and canari. Best value in the store, almost like IKEA (crafty Europeans), comes from dirt cheap daily basics. Almost as cheap as thrift stores if not cheaper. But thats how you get lured to the store to begin with. Quality stuff will cost you and in line with REI price range. If I am to go from sunny California to New Zealand in the middle of their winter, our family will deck out here. Fifth star is for kids selection as its better than anywhere we have seen.

What is your dream sporting goods store - one where you can afford to try new sports because the clothing and equipment is so cheap, well designed and beautiful?Well you just found it. I call Decathalon the Ikea of sporting goods. I also call it the Uniqlo of sports wear.Especially if you have a family and need to buy lots of clothing and equipment for school, water and mountain sports (like everything from surfing to boxing, Pilates to basketball and golf) you need to check out Decathlon.They even have a basketball hoop set up in the store.I discovered Decathlon while traveling in Europe and loaded up on very well made, cheap leggings and shirts for yoga as well as duffel bags. We are so stoked that there is a huge store right near Berkeley and Oakland.Just like Ikea it’s worth a special trip (and it’s half a mile from Ikea coincidentally).

Decathlon, You did it again.I came to your door without knowing you were only doing curb pick ups. I asked then if you have a 24 inches bike I could buy and pick it up.
