The coffee bean taste and aroma are evident with every sip, offering a fresh sensation. I like their balance of cappuccino —it’s foamy yet doesn’t overpower the espresso. Local, casual, relaxed vibes inside makes you feel like your go-to neighborhood coffee shop. Plenty of seats, with some outdoor seating available when weather permits. Baristas are friendly too.

Dana Street Roasting is by far the best coffee roaster in the South Bay. If you buy beans with a roasted on date, this is the definitive place to buy freshly roasted beans. They custom pack so you dont have to buy prepackaged sizes. You can custom mix if you like (I do a half caffeine mix so I can enjoy doppio with a single shot caffeine hit). They have an excellent selection of beans, the roasts are not burned (even dark roasts), prices are very competitive, and the roaster is right there for you to see. Best I have experienced in the entire Bay Area. Highly recommended.

Good coffee. Its fairly subtle in flavour, but still complex. Pretty cheap compared to other coffee shops out there as well. No indoor seating here though, so that was a bit of a letdown. Theres some tables and chairs outside, but its right next to the street, so the vibe isnt there. Otherwise, great service and short lines. This spot is decent for a quick grab-n-go

Old school neighborhood cafe with interesting coffee combinations. Got the mint mocha which was delicious and friend got a hazelnut cappuccino which she also enjoyed. Totally recommend!

Best coffee in Mountain View. I saw a blind person walk out with the biggest smile on his face carrying a small bag of coffee beans. I alway get a cappuccino but the wife love Latte and daughter gets the Thai Ice Tea. All excellent.

This is the best coffee on Castro street. The coffee is not bitter and has interesting flavors. The latte has perfect texture, foamy but not over streamed. Its clear the baristas are skilled here. Other places have automatic machines that give outmediocre coffee.Its also cheaper than other coffee places on Castro street at the same time. Highly recommended to get coffee here over other places.

Fantastic little cafe near busy Castro street. Very helpful and friendly staff. Have a tasty caffeinated beverage without the hustle n bustle of the usual Silicon Valley vibe- this cafe is much more relaxed and isnt glossed over with the sort of pretentious feeling you get at other cafes. Very down to earth place to grab a hand made cup of Joe.

I always take Soya latte and extra hot at Starbucks. So I asked same here too, however the person at counter suggested to try oat milk, he told that extra hot doesn’t go well with Soya but with oat milk. He was very right, I never tried this. It was awesome 👍Now my preference will be always oat milk over Soya milk🙂 I have lactose intolerance.

I regularly buy beans and coffees here, they have a great selection of lighter roasts.My favorite coffee is Irish Cream Latte and is the only coffee drink Ill have that has anything but coffee and milk in it. It has just the right amount of sweetness to intensify coffee taste (and I never drink sweet coffees!). That being said, Ive tried every item on the menu and they are all good, this is just the one thats best fit for me.The staff is very friendly and they always have great music playing.

The best espresso on Castro Street at the best price! Awesome selection of espresso drinks too: they have the standards, plus flavored drinks like a Mexican Mocha. Not the most fancy digs, I like the review that described it as more hippie than hipster (its a compliment). Very roomy inside but theres no seating as of Feb 2022 - about 4 good-sized tables outside, with sun umbrellas.They sell a variety of freshly roasted (light or medium) coffee beans - you choose the amount, so you can try a small amount if you want, Ive been getting half a pound at a time. Ground to your desired coarseness, or whole bean.The older woman who works there seems a bit unpleasant/angry.Updated: the espresso/macchiato are perfect. Iced Americano is very light, almost floral (?), not bitter. The Mexican Mocha is a bit too sweet so Ill probably stick with the plainer drinks, it still tasted good though. I also liked the Banana Mocha, also pretty sweet but I can always ask for less sweet.

Amazing place to get coffee. Whether its the standard drip coffee or something a little more colorful such as the Mexican mocha, you wont be disappointed. The atmosphere is very relaxed and different from the high strung feeling on gets when going to your local Starbucks. Prices are very reasonable and the available pastries and such are great too!

A fairly good local coffee shop. Good coffee and pastries, and the beans they roast are second to none. Prices are about average for the area and they have a very laid back vibe.Been going here off and on for almost 20 years, and they have unfortunately been slowly going down hill. Used to have live music, the uke jam once a month, and extended hours so I can only give them 3 stars. Hopefully this will change, as it was once easily the best coffee shop in the area.

I bought their Kenya light roast beans and theyre pretty good (brewing in a chemex). Pretty acidic with a pleasant body and slightly floral taste. I love that they will sell you a quarter pound of beans (for when I run out and am waiting on a shipment from another roaster). 😀I had a very bitter machiatto that I suspect was not pulled well. 🫤I wish they were open later on weekends! Red Rock Cafe will have lines out the door at 3pm on a Sunday and they are closed. 🤔They accept credit cards. Reviews that say cash only are out of date.

I think Dana Street roasting company is my favorite coffee shop in all of Mountain View. Sure, Ive had better coffee out of town, but when Im not traveling, this is where I go for my caffeine addiction. Coffee here is tasty and reasonably priced. I would argue that the place has great ambience. It feels local, no frills, and down to earth, unlike those fancy, carefully decorated but overpriced cafes in the bay area.

Been going to Dana Street Roasting for longer than I care to remember.The coffee here is far superior to other coffee shops almost anywhere.These guys have control over the freshness of the beans since they roast it here them themselves. (The most common issue with coffee roasting in My opinion is not knowing when to stop the roasting process and ending in an over-roasted bean. This makes the coffee acidic and burned flavored.) (Think Starbucks and Petes although they have been getting better) Here the beans are roasted to perfection resulting in a great cup of Coffee / Espresso.Also this is not some corporate store. It is locally owned and managed by the owner. That by far is much better than any of the commercial coffees available.Love the sign; Friends dont let friends go to Starbucks :)

This place is charming, but the WiFi may or may not work on any given day and the power outlets may or may not be live any given day. Not sure about this location. The coffee is mediocre and the pastries are unexciting -- a tad better than the Costco ones. The staff is responsive but nothing more than that. Seems like it has a regular crowd and has been a staple in the neighborhood for a long time. I just do not find this joint to be competitive -- mediocre and less than average everything (coffee, food, ambiance, staff, etc.). Perhaps its cheaper than other joints so I respect that.Probably wont return.

This is a surprising find. Its a little unclear how Ive overlooked this place after visiting mountain view so many times. Items reasonably priced and stuff was served as fast as I would expect it. Live music was a nice touch and really seems like this almost doesnt belong in mountain view.Some of the lattes they have on their menu were surprising and delicious. I believe there are two main factors that go into making a good coffee, and Dana Street Roasting Company nails them. Since were talking about coffee, of course your beans play a key role in a good tasting cup; of course, just like everyone will have an opinion on what their favorite wine/winery is, Im sure folks will agree/disagree with my tastes. The second and I think the most important part in all of this are the baristas. At Dana Street Roasting Company, Ive had nothing but exceptional and consistent coffee. The two that Ive had and would recommend would be the Hazelnut Latte, and the Mint Mocha. The latter is my favorite!

I love the coffee and ambiance, and I really enjoy just curling up with a mocha and a pastry and getting some work done, but between the power outlets frequently being turned off and the cafe frequently closing early if things are a bit slow.Unfortunately that means that if I want a place to enjoy the coffee while I get some work done, it means I have to go elsewhere.Id love to see Dana Street do well, but with its unreliable hours and the boss decision to make it difficult for people to do work there, it means that a lot of people go to Red Rock instead, despite Red Rocks dismal coffee.

I love living near an independent coffee shop. Some drinks, like Cafe Borgia, arent carried by chains or many other coffee shops. Seasonal drinks and pastries are on point too. They have a year round tiramisu that I prefer over what I can get at italian restaurants. They take cards, but try to remember to bring some cash for tip. I have the impression that there isnt a super high turn over in staff, which is great.

If you dont like going to gentrifying coffee shops that charge $5 a cup, this is your spot. I usually get an espresso which is fantastic. Its been around for over 20 years by the same family (I think I read that somewhere). A good ol fashioned cafe that is very tough to find in Silicon Valley nowadays.

This is a great little coffee shop. They roast coffee fresh their daily, mostly light roasts and the coffee is easily comparable to other gourmet roasters in the bay area, although it is much closer to me.They also provide great customer service: I recently bought a pound of coffee beans which turned out to be roasted a bit darker than I like, and I brought the bag back the next day and they were happy to switch out for a different variety of beans. They even said next time I can ask to sample a bean from different varieties to work out which of the current batches i would like. :)

DSRC, like the typical sit-in coffee shop in Mountain View and Palo Alto, is becoming less a caffeine “fill up station,“ than a haven for techo-commuters using the free WiFi. The coffee cannot be faulted; refills are inexpensive; amenities are provided. It is within easy walking distance of the Caltrain station. Going regularly, one starts recognizing the diverse appeal of each of the baristi and bariste, who can choose the music that is played.Good quality food including desert, drinks including smoothies, if one dollar too expensive, is provided from a handwritten menu, though it hasn´t varied for years.Ambience is lacking -- if one discounts a HUGE coffee roaster that takes up one-fifth of the seating area, and a riser for the occasional musical performance; however, there are toys for the children and board games, newspapers, and circulars for adults. TWO spacious, handicapped-accessible bathrooms are notable, and are always clean.Perhaps I am biased, being a participant in a ukulele jam event held monthly at DSRC, but who can find fault in such a place, for the image of the area stuffed with 50 ukulele players and staff, all with stupid grins on their faces?

Theres something extremely eclectic and personable about Dana Street Roasting that I really really love. It is something old world and beautiful - and so much missing from the everyday quick-fix chain coffee shops.For example, a large percent of the patrons at Dana Street Roasting do not bring their laptops, which is usually unheard of in the Silicon Valley. Instead, neighbors sit and chat, sip their coffees, and read a newspaper or two.I enjoy the cappuccino here and Im a tough critic. Nothing like freshly roasted and ground coffee for your latte. I found Dana Street RC the first week I moved to Silicon Valley. It is unassuming, maybe to a fault, though it never ceases to be busy. The coffee and espresso are rich, wonderful, and satisfying. The latte isnt a work of art, but its rich, almost chewy mouthfeel will keep you coming back for more. Besides, at $2.70 after tax, its well worth it.I wish the pastry counter were a little more diverse and fully stocked. Otherwise, its a great spot.

THE local coffee roasting company in Mountain View. Casual atmosphere with sidewalk seating or sit inside near the San Fransiscan coffee roaster that roasted the coffee you are about to enjoy. Consistently turning out tasty roasts of coffee to drink or take with you by the pound, we really enjoy this neighborhood roastery. I had the Guatemala light roast and we picked up a couple desserts to take home for later. The Guatemala was just right, light and sweet all by itself. The place was busy but the service was quick and super friendly. They only take cash or check but there is an ATM conveniently located inside. This is definitely our favorite coffee spot in Mountain View. Be sure to have a look at the antique Royal coffee roasters on display.

Dana Street is a Community Center that happens to be a coffee shop. The *people* in the local Mountain View community are the only reason to go there. I have been going here for 20 years. Nine out of ten times I go, I have an interesting, intelligent conversation with someone.This is how you visit Dana Street:1) Have nothing to do2) Order whatever, it doesnt matter, its all average fare. Thats not what you are there for. Joke with staff, they are usually responsive to that.3) Sit with other people, hopefully at the big table or outside at a table, so you can chat.4) Strike up a conversation, get to know them. They are interesting.5) If there are musicians playing, enjoy them. If you are a musician, bring an instrument and play around with it outside, someone will probably join you.Rinse. Repeat.

After spending some time in London, Id fantasized about having great coffee again when I returned to the Bay Area. Dana St Roasting was the first place I stopped at on my return - mere hours after landing.It may have been jetlag, it may have been tastebuds frazzled by airplane food, it may have been the hours spent in a low oxygen atmosphere or just the unreasonably high expectations I had for good coffee after too long in the UK but everything about that first cup of coffee was wrong.The service was slow even though there were no customers in line. There was a huge selection of coffee but the two types we tried both had the bitter aftertaste of a bad roast. The pastries were lackluster. Dana Street is now a nearly everyday stop for me, as the place is so inviting and open. It is the type of coffeeshop where 90% of the customers are regulars, and everyone knows everyones name.I have performed there with my group, and they are very nice and inviting as a performance venue, with a large variation in booked musical acts on Friday and Saturday nights. They also book large-name acts (mostly in the jazz vein) such as Scott Amendola and Tony Monaco. These shows are on fire, with a great gathering of local jazz fans and musicians. Overall, the performances at Dana St. are always good, and you can count on the performers being nice, warm people.As far as the drinks go (Im a drip coffee person), Dana is amazing. Obviously the fact that they roast in house is huge for flavor. There coffee selection is great, with the owner regularly driving to Oakland to pick up new direct shipments of green coffee. I love their espresso as well, on the darker and nuttier side. Overall, amazing drinks with consistent quality.A final note - the baristas are so nice and talkative. Once you get to know them you can count on great conversation over your cup. Dana Street is amazing, highly recommended. Go check it out.

Neighborhood coffee shop. Been coming here for twenty years. I wouldnt change a thing about this place, except maybe slightly later hours on Saturday (miss the old live music). They have better coffee and a better selection of items to eat the Peets/Starbucks. The only downside is that during busy times (Sunday around noon, say) you might not get a table or even a chair. But really, what more could you want? They have most of the best baked goods that Peets has (possibly from the same supplier), plus a rotating selection of pies, which are great. You can get a sandwich as well, although I rarely do (because Im here for coffee, and baked goods or pie goes better with that, right?). But really, what more could you want? Also, the pre-weighed 1lb bags of house blend is pretty good as well.

Came here today to grab a cup of coffee, and tried two drinks: the chai and the mexican mocha.The chai is very different (more of an indian, spicy chai) but it was solid. They definitely use authentic ingredients. The mexican mocha was delicious. It has a cinnamon-y and nutty flavor to it that really makes it unique. I would definitely come back again just for that.I look forward to trying more of their menu! The cafe has a great vibe, and I think it would be fun to just hang out there!
