I wanted my young kids to learn something that started in Southern California. Skateboarding!! I happen to find on Goggle Coyote Skateboard School. We took lessons from The Venice Beach Rat. He spent an hour teaching my 10 yr and 16 yr old how to skate. Needless to say they learned quickly how to ride. He provided the boards and safety equipment. But we purchased our own. The kids absolutely love learning how to skateboard!!When they return from Mexico City, we’ll take more lessons!!Thank you Mr. VB Rat!!!

We met Rob when we “accidentally” found ourselves in Venice Beach & by the skate park. We were trying to encourage my 12 year old’s son’s to get on his skateboard after a few year. A young man that we later found out was an instructor there, kept encouraging him & we ended up signing him up for the next morning. Rob is so amazingly patient & positive & encouraging with him. He broke the ice & got him going immediately. By the end of the hour he seems to be 10 levels further from where he started this morning!!He is awesome!

Rob is literally one of the most patient and kind hearted people I have encountered in a longtime. He has definitely taken the fear and shyness that my son had about publicly falling and built up his confidence while shredding. Hands down an amazing instructor along with his Dogtown team! Will and the team at Coyote skateboard lessons are incredible all around! I was visiting from Canada as a photographer and got to witness first hand the encouragement, positivity and safety these guys made the kids/everyone feel. I wish I had these lessons growing up! Awesome team and so great to see so many people learning how to skate. I actually messaged them by chance to let them know how great of a job they were doing out there with the kids and everyone. I am absolutely thrilled with the learning experience my child had with this Skat teacher. Will is incredibly adept at connecting with children and manages to make the lessons both exciting and educational. The way he explains the rules is easy to grasp and truly enjoyable. Started learning how to surfskate and its been a dream! Have had the best times with Will who managed to get me up and skating and going down slopes within 2 lessons. Behind his chill persona is an intense perfectionist. He really has an eye for detail and gave me so many microcorrections and tips that Id never have figured out myself. Where’s the button for six stars? We booked a 2 hr session with Zander for Venice Beach Skate Park for my 12 year old son, Rhys. The mere fact that we booked two more sessions immediately afterwards and brought down everyone from the 5 year olds to the 28 year olds says everything. Zander is, in my opinion, the very best type of instructor; incredibly positive, encouraging, and an amazing skater. Immediately made Rhys feel like one of the gang, working his Ollie’s, kick flips, and snake bowl runs hard. Zander was as excited as Rhys was when he started landing harder and harder tricks. I’d rated it a 10/10 experience for us. Huge thanks to Coyote Rob for making it incredibly easy to book and having a first rate operation. We have great memories of the three sessions we had with Zander and will return to skate again with him on our next trip out to the area.

Will and Rob are phenomenal instructors. Girls, boys, any age welcome. Sometimes I listen in to get some tips for myself. My daughters feel so empowered by what they are able to achieve on a skateboard. Also, important to note, they take safety quite seriously. So if you are an overprotective parent, like me, you can rest easy and just enjoy seeing your kids skate.

We have been seeing Rob at the skate park for months and the kids have been begging for lessons with him and we finally did one this morning. Both kids loved him. Rob is gentle and so patient. Knows when to push their abilities and when to back off as if he has known my boys (ages 5 and 8) for a long time. He is just a great teacher and you can tell he loves what he does!

Easy to understand what you need to do and what you are doing wrong, I learned more from Will than I did the whole summer. I booked a lesson when my nephews (4 and 6 years old) visited me in Venice. They had such great experience, learning to skateboard with Will. He was supportive, fun, and helped them improve quickly and overcome their fears with a sense of humor and lots of encouragement. They loved racking up “10 gazillion points” as a motivation as they improved their skills. I have recommended Will for both friends with kids and adult friends to learn to surf and skate.

I left my 3 kids 9,12,14.Zero experience.We did 5 days straight and by the time we left for home they were hitting the big bowls. Still work to do but couldn’t believe the progress. My daughter’s favorite skate park is Venice Beach and a huge part of that is because of Will. She loves skating with Will and being around his positive vibes. My daughter skates competitively and sometimes the family gets caught up comparing too much. Will has kindly reminded my husband (this story is from my hubby) that (comparing and being competitive) isn’t the “Venice way” (right on Will - thanks for that). Will’s encouragement and sense of community building is partly what makes Venice skatepark so amazing. I’m amazed at the progress my 5 year old has made in a few weeks learning with Will. He is a really excellent teacher - as well as being able to teach technique super effectively, he can engage kids and hold their attention and explain things in a way they understand. He makes every lesson fun and motivates kids to be confident and push themselves. Our lesson always feels like an hour really well spent learning new skills, getting loads of exercise and laughs and an amazing place to learn to skate at Venice beach too.

My 6 year old son enjoyed his lessons with Will so much he went back every day until our LA vacation was over. Will is super positive and gentle. We were lucky to find Dogtown Skateboard lessons last year. My son has been taking lessons with him for the past year and has made tremendous progress. I didn’t take a lesson from Will, rather I was at Venice Skatepark one day that he showed up with his student. We were taking turns in the snake run as he ran into the bowl, dragging a chalk line alongside him all the way around. His student was a young woman who proceeded to follow that chalk line. On her 1st run she didn’t make the first turn. By the 5th run she was carving the length of the bowl and almost returning back to her entry point. I’ve never seen anyone take to skateboarding so quickly as her. The mark of an extraordinary teacher.

Will is hands down the best skateboard instructor youll find around. Youll improve fast AND will have a blast doing it if you train with him.I take surfskate lessons with him and have improved a lot after only a couple sessions. He has the technique and experience, and is good at explaining it and transferring it. Hell look for 10 different ways for me to train a move, on and off the board, until I get it. He loves what he does and thats what makes him so special and cool to train with - he genuinely enjoys teaching and is super positive and patient.

I had the best morning with Will. He is a very clear and patient instructor, definitely felt safe in his hands, and his chill and supportive vibe was ideal for delving into something so far out of my comfort zone. Never having stepped on a board before, I’d simply hoped to stand on it and push around a bit without massive injury lol. But Will had me skating down hills, around pedestrians, doing kick turns, etc. My family and friends are shocked with my videos. He totally exceeded my expectations for my first lesson.
