My 16 and 13 year old boys took lessons for the 1st time and fell in love with surfing that day. Uncle Phil & Corky’s is awesome! Easy to book the lesson. They offer a great cash discount to an already reasonable price. Phil was super chill and made them feel so comfortable. My boys said, he’s “a great instructor”. He was patient and helpful but also gave them the opportunity to take a little control when they were ready. We will be back for future lessons next time we are in town.

My 5year old daughter and my nephews did corky Carrol’s jr surf camp this summer. I was really pleased with how the team handled so many small kids running around. My daughter caught more waves everyday than I ever do and was excited to go back every single day of the five day camp. When I asked her what her goal was on the 3rd day of camp, she said “to catch as many waves as she can.” This is the way.The instructors were all kind and understanding and really encouraged kids to get out and in the water. Highly recommend. She’s already asked to do it again.

Absolutely love these guys for the surf lesson! They were incredibly helpful out of the water and in the water! We were a large group of 9, and they had three instructors who made sure that we all caught waves! Would recommend and when we come back to CA in 2027 will reach out again!

We signed our two teenage daughters up for a surfing lesson and we could not have been more pleased. The instructor was a terrific teacher, full of great energy and passion for surfing, as he worked tirelessly to ensure that our kids had a great first experience. I recently registered my children for a summer camp at Corky Carroll’s Surf School and I am extremely impressed with their level of customer service and professionalism. Initially, I was unaware that there was an age limit for participants. Unfortunately, this meant my 16-year-old could not attend.Upon realizing this, I contacted the school to cancel the registration. Despite the mix-up, Kelsey was incredibly understanding and cooperative and promptly refunded my deposit.Their willingness to resolve the issue fairly and quickly has left me with a very positive impression. I am confident that this school values their customers and strives to provide the best experience possible.

Were on a trip in the US from europe and have done so many things this holiday. Hands down, this was one of our favourite experiences! We had a lesson with the lovely Patrick and it was just SO awesome. Neither of us had surfed before and we both had different fitness levels. Patrick managed to accommodate both of us enough to the point that we both caught a wave. Not only that, hes such a great and friendly guy that we felt confident enough to dive right in and were smiling the entire time. Thanks so much Patrick and Corkys! We had a ball and will remember this experience forever.

I had a wonderful time! My instructor was very knowledgeable about surfing. I am not a young chickadee anymore and decided to learn to surf, even if it takes the rest of my life to learn! My surf instructor Bradley was very very patient with me. He is a great instructor with a great attitude! Every person I had contact with this company was super nice and very informative. I will most definitely recommend their service to my friends or anybody I come across wanting to learn to surfHad a second lesson with this group. My instruction this time was with Alex! This was our first year doing the surf school. My boys are 5 and 8. They didn’t have any experience at all surfing prior to surf camp, and by Friday they had improved a ton!We had to drive 40 mins each way, and I didn’t know if it was going to be worth it. My kids had an absolute blast! My kids are asking if we can do surf camp again next week! We will definitely be back next year.The instructors were fantastic. One of my kids was was really nervous the first morning, and they helped him take baby steps until he was comfortable. By the end of the week he was riding waves all day. I can’t say enough good things about Corky Carroll’s. We all loved it! We are already looking forward to doing it again next summer!

My 2 kids spent the past week at Corky Carroll’s Jr surf camp. They had such a great time and loved their instructors, especially Stirling! They were standing the first day and improved every day! By the last day they were riding without help! Definitely recommend and we wish we had booked more weeks this summer! We will be back!

My kid loves it here! Weve had several lessons with several different instructors. Hes getting to be a great surfer and he gets great tips and learns something new from every instructor: Surfing/paddling techniques, strength building, evaluating waves, how the ocean works (waves, swells, temperature etc.), equipment styles: surfboards, wetsuits, surf-boots -- oh, the list goes on! Some days hes a wave magnet and some days hes lucky if he catches anything. But, no matter how the day goes, my kid digs it and he sees every session as a success!

My daughter and I had a fantastic first time experience! A few minutes to gear up and then some basic instructions. ... But lets get out there! It will be different out there.Out there, we watched the swells come in, chased a few, watched dolphins and pelicans pass by us, and in our two hours, we managed to get caught up in the swell, get to our feet for just a few magical seconds, race in to the shore, and then paddle back out to do it again!It was an amazing experience.

OH MAN was this an incredible experience! I was scared half to death before and during the lesson. Hunter and Phil were incredibly patient and motivating. I did a one on one class and would recommend to anyone to try. It is NOT easy and was something completely out of my comfort zone, but I am so glad I did it! The adrenaline is still pumping!

First time surf lessons. So glad it was with Corky Carrolls Surf School! The staff is welcoming and kind! My boyfriend and I bought the 2 hour lesson with coach/trainer Hunter. Hunter made surfing fun! Hunter answered all our questions, he was friendly, and made me feel safe while out in the water. Also the temperature was 60 out and the water was freezing, however with the wet suits we rented from Corky Carrolls I was not cold! Plan on getting lessons for our 5 year old boys with Corky Carrolls!

The whole experience was great. Nice soft top board, new wetsuit. Patrick was an absolutely awesome instructor. He had a knack to know exactly what to do to help me into waves in the beginning, then was able to help me make small changes in the water that allowed me to catch waves completely on my own later in the lesson. Loved that I was able to keep the board/wetsuit till 1:00pm to ride some more for basically a 5-hour session. I would highly recommend Corky Carrolls Surf School.

Neither my husband or I had ever surfed before so we were a little nervous going into this but the staff couldnt have been nicer. Our instructor Niko was super patient, down to earth, skilled, professional, and was able to help us to both surf during our first lesson. It was exhilarating. Were totally going to take another lesson.They have a convenient spot on the beach, tons of sizing options for wetsuits, and choose boards specific to your size and skill level.Make sure to stretch first, its a killer workout.

My 7 year old son spent 8 weeks with Corky Carrolls Surf School last summer and had a blast - he loves the staff and owners (they are family friends now). My son is becoming a very good surfer - we surf as a family and I can thank everyone at Corky Carrolls for making it happen. This week both my boys are enrolled - besides the amazing coaching/surf guides at program they have, their spot on the beach at Bolsa is ideal for teaching beginning surfers. I purchased a lesson for my 14 year old stepson and it was the highlight of our trip for him. He was able to stand up multiple times and his instructor did a lot of work paddling him around and pushing him into waves, especially at the beginning. Hopefully this is just the beginning of surfing for him. I brought cash to pay and tip as that is a bit of a discount from the regular price. It was a foggy day but it really didn’t matter. My son says the wetsuit they provide kept him warm so only his feet really felt any cold. The whole family and his mom watched him from the beach. I highly recommend this company and their lessons.

I had a lesson from Patrick today and it was so fun. Ive had a few lessons before but Patrick helped me take it to the next level. Did I mention it was fun????? He was very knowledgeable and surfing and the water, patient, and also personable to chat with while waiting for the right wave. Everyone else we encountered was nice, helpful and friendly too! Incredibly great experience! The instructor was top notch. He was incredibly patient, detailed, and had both of us standing up on our boards by the end! The only reason this is not a five star review is the hidden credit card fee. The prices advertised we for cash only which was not clear on the website. Additionally, the parking fee was not disclosed. I would still recommend this place, however. Just be prepared to pay more than advertised.

My two teenage boys decided to try surfing and had an absolute blast. Everyone at Corkys was incredibly friendly and engaging, including their instructor Tyler. Everything ran on time and the equipment was perfect. The boys learned to surf and now they love it. Next time we are in Huntington Beach again, we will definitely be renting from Corkys.

My kids ages 10 and 12 had a private lesson yesterday. They loved their instructor Chuck! They both had a lot of fun and were able to get up on some waves. Their instructor took them both out together but did a great job helping them both and I was never worried about their safety. They took lessons somewhere else in Carlsbad last summer and we were not impressed. Corky Carols is awesome!! We are from Washington state but my kids just love to surf! Hope to come back one day.

Besides the fact that we had an excellent surfing lesson, Patrick & Joey helped us when we lost the keys to our rental car. The owners at Corky’s called Triple A for us and got the car unlocked. They also stayed with us until our car was towed, and Joey gave us a ride to the visitor’s center so we could catch our Uber. They made our sucky situation bearable with their kindness. If we’re back at Huntington Beach, we will definitely go back to them!

My review isn’t personally about the surf school itself, it’s more about the guy who runs it. I went to this surf school in bolsa chica as a kid and loved it. Unfortunately, I met the owner Keith in lineup on a 1-2ft day and he was out there acting like he owned the beach and decides to disrespect the etiquette of surfing. I was out for about an hour and first he cuts me off and I end up swimming for my board. I let it go and didn’t say a word nor did I get an apology next waves comes through and I’m minding my business and he comes up and paddles into me on purpose and starts cussing me out. Later did I have to find out who he was from other surfers in the water saying he does this a lot. I felt I had to write this review because it’s a guy who is teaching a new generation of surfing and if he’s not gonna respect the roots and etiquette. I feel like he shouldn’t be teaching or let alone own the surf school. He doesn’t practice what he preaches.

On a bright and sunny Saturday in June (!) my 25 year old daughter and I (56 years old!) took a private lesson with Wes - the best coach ever! It was the first time surfing for both of us, he helped us understand the fundamentals as well as guided us into catching lots of waves. If I could give Wes more stars I’d do it! Cowabunga dude!!

We had the best experience with Corky Carrolls Surf School! I signed my son up for a two hour lesson and on the day of our lesson, it was really cold and windy. Since my son had some surfing experience, he and the instructor hit the waves almost immediately. They had quite a few good runs but it was just so cold waiting to catch a wave. My son only lasted about 45 minutes but had a blast! He said the instructor was super knowledgeable and very friendly. After we left and my son thawed out, the owner, Keith, called to see how the lesson went. When I told him my son only lasted 45 minutes because of the cold temps, he immediately offered for him to come back another day, without an instructor, and grab a board and wetsuit and surf for an hour or so to make up for the rest of the two hour lesson. So, a few days later, when the temps were higher and wind was minimal, we did just that! My son had a great time and surfed for about 3 hours! Since we had kept the board and suit so long, I wanted to compensate Keith but he wouldnt take anything! Said he was just happy that my son had such a good time! That is amazing customer service folks! I highly recommend Corky Carrolls Surf School!

We were in town for two days and I really wanted to get my kids some surf lessons. I looked around online and after doing my research chose Corky Carrols and I am so glad I did. I called ahead and spoke with the owner to determine what would be best for my kiddos, and we set it up.The beach is just a short drive away from Huntington Beach but way less crowded and clean. We arrived and the entire staff was so nice and helpful. My kids were in the water and surfing within 15 minutes and it was the highlight of their trip. We had two instructors fir a private lesson but all the instructors helped each other if a student needed to get back on track or my little one was too far away. Loved their enthusiasm for their job and surfing. Next time we are in town we will be back!Awesome cash discount as well.

Miles was our coach and he was great! They have really huge beginner boards that make it easy to stand up. Also there is an area at bolsa Chica that they take you to that is very beginner friendly. I am pretty clumsy and I was able to stand up!

We had a blast taking lessons from this school. The owner was on site and knew us by name. The manager Todd was friendly, organized and even took our temperature and the temperature of his instructors to be sure we were all healthy. We took 2 days of private lessons, two hours each so we had three instructors,Sammy, Charlie and Mason. All were excellent, knowledgeable and friendly. Each one taught in a slightly different way giving you a more well rounded experience. We loved it, and wished he had more time and money to continue to surf with them this week. The price was reasonable and they were so accommodating, allowing us to continue to use the boards when our lesson was over. We look forward to coming back and working with them again in the future.

We absolutely loved our surf lessons! We are a family of 6 from Georgia with zero experience. The instructors were so great with our 4 kids under the age of 10. They had 3 of our kids surfing in no time. They worked hard paddling them out and helping them get up on the boards. They loved it!!! Our one son wasn’t interested and one instructor took time to play with him on the beach and look for starfish in the seaweed. I highly highly recommend Corky. Great time!

Many reviews are based on the surfing school, but not many mention that you can also rent a wetsuits and board at the spot. The location at tower 18 is a great spot for beginners. I started my surfing journey at Corkys with my kids and still am in love with this sport. The instructors are great and do their best to make the first contact with this amazing sport an incredible experience for everyone. After renting equipment 5 times, we decided to own our own wetsuit and boards - thank you Corky Caroll team you got a new rookie surfer at Bolsa Chica state beach now.

I have done surfing lessons as well as board rental. The service is amazing! The lessons with my family were for myself, my wife and 3 young kids ages 10,8, and 6. The instructors were attentive and professional and they also made the entire experience fun. I have since come back on my own to rent equipment and everyone is very friendly and the equipment is in great shape. I have visited other surf schools in Southern California and Hawaii and this one is the best by far!!

I took some private lessons at Corky Carrolls during my vacation in Huntington Beach. The experience is great. Keith (the owner) is super energetic and responsive. I booked the lessons online by sending an email and got a call back in 24 hrs to confirm lessons right away. Corky Carrolls provides everything from wetsuits, board and good energy. So you dont need to bring/rent anything which makes a travelers life much easier. The instructor is super chill, patient and attentive. After each wave he will ask what you think happened this time and provide helpful feedbacks. The price is very reasonable for what you get out of, especially compare to a lot tourists oriented places. In general, highly recommended for anyone who wants to take private surfing lessons in Huntington Beach!

Im from Florida and have never surfed before. My sister, friend and I had Blake as our instructor and he was great!! He taught us the basics on land and then we went right into the water. I got up my first try and my sister and friend caught a few waves as well! Blake was very helpful and you could tell he was genuinely excited that we did well. All of the staff was very accommodating; they got us set up with our wet suits and gave us all Corky Carrolls t-shirts. This was definitely a great experience and we would 100% do it again!!

My three girls had a great experience at Corky Carroll’s! They tried surfing for the first time, and went back for another round of lessons this morning. The teachers are safe and helpful but also challenged the girls so they were able to actually stand up and surf. The waves at this end of the beach are slightly smaller and safer for beginners. We will be back for sure!

We had a great experience with Corky Carrolls team of instructors! We absolutely would recommend them if you have never surfed and are interested in trying it.Our family of six, while excellent swimmers and comfortable in the water, had never even swam in the ocean! Two of us were not even excited about doing this activity on our vacation to CA and instead would maybe have preferred to sit and read a book.However, by the end of our lesson, we all were able to stand up on our boards, AND even better we all would have loved to have more time to keep surfing. We definitely felt as if we had learned the skills to practice and try on our own.The team of instructors were helpful, encouraging, and knowledgeable.Highly recommend.

We stayed at the surf school in Costa Rica. It was AWESOME!! The surf instructors helped myself and my fiance each learn how to surf for the first time in our lives. The food was wonderful. The rooms were spacious and comfortable. The owner Collin, his wife, and their son were all so friendly and immediately felt like family. I would definitely recommend their accommodations to anyone. It was such a wonderful experience!

Corky Carrolls at Huntington Beach has become a fixture of our summers here in Cali. My daughter is 16 and has been attending with her cousins for about 5 years. She first went having had just a bit of surfing experience and was immediately made so comfortable by the amazing staff, and immediately began to grow as a surfer. While having so much fun!!We come to California from Massachusetts for about a month each summer and my daughter wants to spend every day down at Bolsa with Keith and his crew. She is even striving to be an instructor there herself!The staff are just so friendly and easygoing and accommodating and attentive. Keith and Kelsey are so upbeat and welcoming and great. Like I said the whole scene there has become a happiest fixture of our summers...I cant recommend this camp highly enough!

My eight year old daughter LOVES Corky Carrolls Surf School. This is her second year in a row. She has always gone by herself and quickly makes friends and has a great time. My 8-yr old has been going to Corky Carrolls Adventure Camp and Surf school for three years now. He started at the Adventure Camp where he learned water safety, boogie boarded, met new friends, and bonded with old friends. He bonded with all the instructors, especially Hunter who makes every single child feel special. At Surf Camp this year, he is truly having the best time of his life in the safest hands. It can be difficult to leave ones child in the hands of others at the beach, but Corky Carrolls owners Kelsey and Keith make sure safety is number one. They have low student-instructor ratios, and they have instructors surveying the shoreline constantly. Kids learn how to safely play in the waves with and without a board. The majority of students, young and old, are up and surfing on day one of the camp. Everyone is smiling--the instructors and the kids. Its like a big family out there. My son spends roughly three weeks per summer there, and I know he is in capable hands. What I especially love is that they have taught him to be responsible in and respectful of the ocean. And they have a quality photographer getting pics of all the students so that these beautiful memories are captured. They even give the kids a print-out of a group photo and a really cute surf t-shirt that kids are proud to wear. Thank you, Corky Carrolls!

July 20, 2017I took my daughter for lessons and joined her for the lessons. I asked for a shorter smaller board, Keith the owner made me prove myself worthy of a shorter board first... I absolutely respected this request ! They are truly concerned for your safety which was quite refreshing. My daughters instructor was encouraging and helpful. There was a ground swell so for my piece of mind for her, it was fantastic having this young man not on a board but completely focused on her! Thanks for a great day!

Absolutely the best surf school around! My instructor Hunter was very patient with me as I was a 48 year old beginner. He preached safety first, and he was always around me just in case I took a spill in the ocean. And I did a few times. I felt very safe and all my questions were answered. Well worth the money. Awesome program run by a local family. Super good staff in the office and Kelsey was exact on with the directions. I really like how they sent us an email conformation shortly after booking the lesson with complete instructions and directions on what to expect. They have a really good set up on the beach with all the boards and wetsuits just steps away from the beach. Another thing I really liked about them is how many different size boards they have for us to choose from. My friend and I did a whole week vacation in CA and spent almost every day surfing with the great staff at Corkys. They really made us feel part of there family. I really liked that I was able to use a real fiberglass surfboard after my first 4 lessons and see the difference between a real board and Foam board. To top it all off every day after my lesson I was able to take a HOT shower for 50 cents. I highly recommend going to Corky Carrolls surf school for all your surfing needs.

Though I’d had one prior surfing lesson experience in Costa Rica (not Corky Carroll’s there) a few years ago, I am a TOtal amateur. Not much surfing in Nashville, eh? Friends in HB, Seal Beach and Long Beach all recommended Corky Carroll’s on a recent visit and they were completely, totally, 100% correct!From the speed and ease of online, flexible reservations, to easy access to a great surfing location at Bolsa Chica State Park, getting organized was a breeze.The lesson itself? Our 8 year old did Adventure Camp last summer to see how he liked the water. Hes not very adventurous. He loved it. Got on the boogie board the first day and was not scared. I felt they kept a good eye on the kids, and helped them a lot. After summer was over he did a couple private surf lessons with them and loved it. In the off season we put him in another companies group surf class and it was a bad idea. The location was crowded with surfers, attention to the younger ones wasnt there. He got slammed by a surfer and there wasnt much done as far as checking on him, first aid, etc. Long story short, Corky Carrolls is the place to go! He cant wait for surf camp this summer at Corky Carrolls!! Its a safe environment. Great location. I felt comfortable leaving him and knowing he was in good hands. He loved the instructors. I recommend Corky Carrolls. I will not go to anyone else!! :)

My daughter participated in the all day surf camp (8-2) this past week. She loved it! Every day I heard about “morning conferences” where they learned to read the ocean and focus on safety in the water. She had three opportunities each day to be in the water, learned how to duck dive, paddle more efficiently, and surf! Since camp she’s designed three custom boards and is begging to go back again for another week! She’s hooked! The instructors were kind, fun, and even gave nicknames to all the campers. Me, my brother and my mom had a great time taking surf lessons with Corky Carroll’s. They have a great setup in the parking lot of Bolsa Chica State Beach, plenty of boards and wetsuits, and good quality as well. I’ve taken a few lessons in other cities and Corky Carroll’s is among the best. My 14 year old son and 15 year old daughter each did 3 lessons. We signed up for the 8am lessons but tide was too low so Keith recommended we switch to 10 for higher tide and better experience. They were very accommodating and my kids has a great time. My kids will be signing up for the summer camp as well. Theyre doing the one where you are able to use the camps equipment all summer. My 16 year old son took a lesson. Hes surfed before but we live in Colorado so he needed a little brush up. His instructor was great and for a two hour lesson it was a fantastic value. My teenaged daughter asked me to teach her to surf, but I hadnt surfed since I was her age, so I knew I needed help from an expert! I was so nervous the night before! I could barely sleep, wondering how we would do (and also, a bit afraid to be in the ocean - I hadnt been in it for a long time!) I called the school on a perfect weather, Spring Break week, and thought surely it was too late to schedule something a day before we wanted to learn. The owner, Keith, went out of his way to find us an amazing surf coach! His name was Cade and he was so patient and kind and professional with us. He made sure we were prepared first on the sand with some basics. He showed us how to paddle, get up, stand, all of it. When we were in the water, we were so calm and relaxed because we were in such good hands. Cade really knew what he was doing and how to properly instruct us both.If you are on the fence, wondering if you should take a surfing lesson, my answer is YES! If you are wondering what school to go to - and there were several to choose from - definitely choose Corky Carrolls Surf School. They are the best! We will be visiting them again when we return this Summer!Oh one more thing, If you have the basics down, but dont have a board and a wet suit, they can totally set you up with that too!!

I really liked the approach, the support and the kindness of the team. It was my very first time surfing, I was quite excited but also a little nervous and yet they made me feel incredibly comfortable. My instructor, Parker, was incredibly supportive. At the very end of my lesson I got stung by a stingrey and my instructor even drove me to the lifeguard. Overall, an incredible experience, I totally recommend the school.

Corky Carroll’s Surf is the best! Every summer when I visit from AZ I book surf lessons for the kids and rent a board for me. They are located at Bolsa Chica State Beach which is a great place for beginners and us old dudes who like to ride a smaller wave that have a nice shoulder. Parking is easy, $15 for the day and easy to find a spot right at their container shop. Keith and Mark make you feel like locals and are always willing to help you out with any gear you need. The owners and the entire staff are AWESOME! We started bringing our kids to them 4 summers ago. It started with 1 week and that quickly turned into 2 weeks and so on. We had no expectations accept for our kids to hopefully have fun and maybe they would like it well enough so that one day I could paddle out with my daughters and have a session. Well that day has come and past and I am so STOKED that my daughters can now actually call themselves surfers. Their website makes a strong argument for choosing Corky Carrolls for surfing lessons--the beach, the boards, the instructors, etc. Turns out, its all true. I cant imagine a better environment to learn to surf. You show up and are met with a friendly greeting. Suit up, pick up a board, and head to the water with you instructor. My instructors advice, words of encouragement, and calm demeanor made for a fun two hours. I was up on the surfboard in short order, and it seemed like the other students were all catching waves too. As promised, Bolsa Chica is a great place to surf. To sum up—nice people on land and in the water, nice beach, and a nice, quintessential California experience. This camp exceeded my expectations. The staff at Corky Carrolls Surf School is phenomenal. My son was very hesitant the first day with lots of fear, but I knew he was in great hands. He never felt pressured to do anything that was out of his comfort zone and was surfing by the end of the day. Now he cant stop talking about it. Not only did he get great instruction, he also met some new friends at camp. We had an awesome experience w Evan and Pato. We originally booked for 4 but my granddaughter had to back out due to an injury the night before surfing. There was no hassle w that. Ive been wanting to surf for the longest time and havent tried up till now because I wasnt comfortable in the water and didnt have someone who could walk me through how to do it. Highly recommend, the team were all super friendly and helpful when we arrived. They’re ideally placed in one of the main carparks of Bolsa Chica State beach, which in itself is a great beach for beginner surfers or more experienced. Great quality wetsuits and good selection of boards to chose from. This was one of the highlights of our trip and we would definitely go back!

Took my daughter to a week long surf camp, and within a day she was able to stand on her board and catch some waves (something she couldnt do when she tried learning on her own). They made sure to give the kids breaks and reapply suntan lotion at regular intervals. All equipment, including wetsuits, was included. The staff is very nice and makes sure the kids are taken care of. On top of it all, they are one of the more reasonably priced surf camps in the area.

The instructors here are the best. It doesnt matter if you are a beginner or advanced. My son loved, Loved, LOVED his week at Corky Carrolls Surf School. Although it was his very first week out of school and he was exhausted, he couldnt get enough of the fun! He went with a friend -- both are 8-years-old and have older brothers in the HB City Jr. Lifeguard program, so they were feeling a bit left out. They bragged about how awesome their days were and cant wait to participate again. The staff is very friendly, professional and stress education and safety in regards to all things ocean- and beach-related. I had no concerns. We felt that the waves were way too strong today for absolute beginners so we were unable to even get out into the sea. This was also confirmed by several other surfers we talked to right after. The instructor, Nate, was awesome and really understanding about the whole ordeal and hes one large part of the reason for the high star rating.However, Hunter (the manager?) was immediately demeaning when we got back. He kept repeating surfings not the sport for you even though we said that we felt that the waves were too strong for absolute beginners. He followed that up with the banger comeback of we brought a 4 year old yesterday.The initial refund he gave us after some back and forth was reasonable however he was honestly a real jackass about the whole thing which was my main gripe. We understand that the waves are not predictable and we were not expecting a full refund. However, the demeaning comments soured the whole experience.The owner, Keith, later called us and gave us a full refund and was very upfront. Hes the other reason this review is anywhere close to over 2 stars after Hunters attitude.When we went back to get the refund that Keith offered, Hunter continued trying to excuse himself by talking non stop and accusing us of lying about the waves. Hunter needs to get a semblance of customer service skills.

I first learned to surf at Corky Carrolls in Costa Rica 9 years ago and just had another amazing stay for my 5th visit! This family business is ONE OF A KIND. This place is incredible on so many levels. Kelsey and Collin are a great team and they make your trip enjoyable from start to finish.You have everything you need here. The rooms are spacious and cozy with comfortable beds and pillows.Theres a pool steps away from your room to cool off. The food is outstanding and the beer fridge is always full and ice cold. The entire staff is top notch and are always helpful. The beach is just a 7 minute walk through the jungle and then surfing time in 85 degree water and waves for days.I cant wait to go back!

One granddaughter was over the moon to be able to learn to surf while the other was forced into something she didnt want to do!! After one hour with Todd and Alex, both girls LOVED surfing and want their own boards & wet suits. Alex was professional and got Britney up on her first attempt. Alex couldnt quite answer the age old question, Why are all surfers such hotties?...but they are! Todd took a reluctant young girl and turned her into a surfer addict...I never knew surfing could be so much fun! I am SO glad you made me try it! I would give six stars if I could. These guys are great. Im three months shy of my 55th birthday and decided to try surfing for the first time. This was my second time on the water and Conrad had me standing on the first wave. Very cool and laid back. Respected my limitations and gave great learning tips. I left my phone in the Uber that dropped me off. Everyone on the beach tried to get it back for me while I was out. When we couldnt get my phone they gave me a ride back to my hotel . I just finished my family trip of five (wife and three kids 18, 16, and 14) at the Corkey Carrol surf school in Costa Rica. Wow... what a great life changing experience!We flew into the San Jose airport and rented a car to drive to the surf school. We wanted the kids to see the Costa Rica country...roads, towns, people. We flew back to San Jose to catch our departing flight from Nosara on Nature Air to experience the local airplane flightIf you are a busy at work or home and just need a break from it all.....this is the place to come!There are six cabanas for the guests to stay in. My family blended quite well with the other guests (In our group for the week we had a Mother and son, another mother and son, two best friends, and two recent college graduates). In the group there were experienced surfers and beginners.The surf school meals are prepared for you at the same time each day. The food is consistently DELICIOUS! The beer is always cold.The school has every size surf board you could imagine. The staff will fit you with a board and then you are ready to go! Each day you can schedule a one hour lesson. This is an all inclusive hotel––surf boards, food, lodging, etc. Wifi is available... buy why would you want it? ;-)A typical day looks like this: Breakfast is served at 7:00 AM then we headed down to the beach with our surfboards. Most everyone comes home around 11:30 AM for lunch, then after lunch its Bernie Time Bernie is a local guy that video tapes each guest as they ride great waves, or aspire to. This is a really fun time with everyone and helped my family learn how to become better surfers. Then... it was time for a rest by the pool, or a snooze in the hammock. At 4:30 PM we all surfed again as the sun set--beautiful! Dinner is served at 7:00 PM.The Surf school has an Alls good atmosphere to unwind. No need to worry about planning or keeping the family busy, the staff takes care or everything.As a father and husband it is good to feel that your wife and family are taken care of by the staff. My wife loved having healthy meals each day that she did not have to prepare so this was a huge break for her.You feel young again, strong and refreshed. You also feel a little sore but you power through it for the next wave (and they can order you a massage ).If you want to do more than surf and relax, there is plenty of safe and fun activities for the family ...zip lining, horseback riding, visit a volcano, or renting quad and tour the towns and hills.With over 18 years of family lead company they know what they re doing. The owners are here on site to help in anyway. They know the area and culture. They are well known in the area. The surf school is staffed with both Americans and locals. The team is friendly and helpful. You feel like part of one large family.This trip changed my family feelings about surfing.For me, I gained confidence on how to read a wave, where to be located to catch the wave and actually catch and RiDE.My wife went from fear of the ocean force to ridding the waves with a huge smile. We even caught a wave together on the last day! Party wave its called.My son had a scary incident in the ocean on a wave more than one year ago at the beach in Florida. With the help and thoughtful care of the instructors, he was confidently catching and riding waves within two days.My 16 year old daughter went from always being on the iPhone to surfing with family and instructors.My 14 year old daughter caught her first wave!The entire family enjoyed the family trip at the surf school. AMAZING EXPERIENCE for my kids!!! My kids (6 and 8) are self sufficient in the ocean. It is a huge worry off our minds! We used to have to keep our eyes glued to them when they went in the ocean or even near it! Now I feel at ease when my kid is paddling out to surf by himself. Great instructors and easy to deal with.
