Im in Petaluma and needed a pro to service my 36 year-old furnace, and Im very happy I called John of Core Heating & Air Con. John was able to come out the SAME DAY. My furnace had a few problems and John explained each problem. He replaced the blower motor and cleaned out - he said, detailed - some very dirt-encrusted elements of the furnace, and now my furnace works better than it has EVER worked in the 26 years Ive owned my home. John is extremely professional, reasonable and never tried to upsell me to a new furnace. Highly recommend John of Core Heating & Air Conditioning if you live in Petaluma or Sonoma County.

We have an old wall heater that was in desperate need of repair. We called John, got his voicemail so we left a message. We were called back within minutes. Luckily John was able to come out within 20 minutes of us calling him. He was great in explaining everything that he was doing and why he was doing it. He is very conscientious about his work and is very detail oriented. He even took time to clean the heater. He made sure to ask us about having a fire detector and carbon monoxide alarm since the heater was old. We appreciated that extra care of concern. He is very knowledgeable and extremely kind. Where to start - John set a new record for my work with contractors!Responsiveness - showed up within an hour of my phone call explaining our central heating was not working.Communication - carefully explained everything he was going to do/test and the result.Diagnosis - after over 23 years of service, our heater was failing to a point beyond repair.Result - John specified and ordered a new heater, removed the old heater (the same day) and two days later delivered, installed and tested the new heater - we couldnt be more satisfied!

I really want to thank John for his work on two wall heaters I have. After calling someone I had used in the past with no response, it was wonderful to hear from John immediately. I thought I would have to replace the heater but after completely tearing it apart, he was able to reassemble a beautifully clean heater with a few new parts that he had on sight with him.He explained and demonstrated his work and made the visit a real learning experience. He is very conscientious about his work and after meeting with him, i think he could fix about anything. His prices are very reasonable, the best part being he will fix it before hell replace it. I am so very grateful to John at Core Heating & Air Conditioning Repair. I have an older wall heater that hasnt worked in many years because PG&E and other heating service techs told me that it was not fixable. I actually hired Core to replace a burned out pilot light part on a freestanding gas space heater and when John asked about my wall heater, I explained that I was told by two service crews that it wasnt fixable but he wanted to take a look. He quickly found the issue and had it working within the hour! And really worked with me to ensure that fixing it was within my budget. Then he insisted on checking my attic to check the heating pipe since the wall heater hadnt been used in so many years. Core Heating & Air Conditioning has my business for life!

This may be the second review on Google that we have written about Core Heating & Air, and the third time that John has been out to help with heating issues here in Penngrove. I do not have enough superlatives to describe Johns outstanding service-- he truly cares about ensuring that your HVAC issue is handled in the most professional and workmanlike way possible.The first time he was out, John serviced our furnace which another contractor had said needed to be replaced. That was bunk and Johns service restored the furnace to perfect working order.Johns second visit was much needed and he responded ASAP to diagnose a circuit board that needed to be replaced. He also addressed a noise issue on the air intake with a clever solution that I had not considered although I am handy with home projects and repairs that dont need a high level of expertise. John did a great job and the furnaces life has been extended for several more years-- when we need to replace it, we will call Core Heating!But this third visit (July 2023) was the most complex project, with a new installation of a 35,000 BTU heater, specifically the gas lines and valves, for a small greenhouse. John caught a safety error in the mounting of the unit by the contractor that constructed the greenhouse (and was not noticed by the electrician who wired the unit) and fixed it. He figured out how to best place the gas pipes, and then connected and mounted those lines for the propane, including all the necessary valves, etc. His charge was reasonable and very much in line with the high level of service he provided.All three experiences with Core have been outstanding-- I would give more than 5 stars if possible. If you are lucky enough to be in Johns service area and he can get you into his schedule, do yourself a favor and get him out for your HVAC repair, replacement or installation!

First time needing AC repair, and Core was everything I could want in a maintenance service. John was professional, friendly, and passionate about his work. He had my AC up and running quickly and enthusiastically explained what he was doing and why as he did it, and provided maintenance tips on how I can keep the system running longer myself. John provided the best service call experience I have ever had for my furnace. The problem was quickly diagnosed after a few quick questions and tests. The unit was in a difficult place to access but he was quick to jump in and tackle the problem. He never attempted to sell me a new unit. Rather, he went out of his way to let me know that the heater still had good serviceable life. Friendly, always courteous and very organized. Spotless van without a tool out of place. John did us a solid a couple days ago when my attempt to install a nest thermostat didnt go all that well. We started to panic with the heating not working properly, extremely cold weather, and a newborn at home. Almost every other service we called were days if not weeks out. John came to our place that same day and looked over our whole system, fixed existing wiring issues, made sure everything was working properly and installed the nest properly all within an hour and even managed to teach me a few things and how to maintain things myself.Hes an extremely nice guy to chat with and very reasonably priced. The HVAC Hero Who Saved Our FurnaceJohnny, from Core Heating & Air Conditioning, deserves the highest praise for his swift and honest service. When our heating system failed, we called multiple companies, including Bragg, only to be met with questionable practices and exorbitant quotes.Braggs technician dismantled our furnace, and insisted on a $22,000 replacement with a 9% interest rate. We were even told to replace a new AC system barely two years old.Enter Johnny. He came to our rescue, revealing the scam and fixing our furnace that Braggs had taken apart. There was nothing wrong with it! He showed us why it kept shutting off - two of our vents were closed. Thats it. It was overheating.Ive finally gotten around to writing this review 4 months later. And the furnace is still flawless!His honesty, integrity, and skill saved us. Johnny is the epitome of what you want in an HVAC professional. I have fuel efficient dual heating and air conditioning units in my home (Daikin). One of them was in my temporary rental in which I had a traveling nurse living. The Daikin had stopped blowing warm air. I called at least 10 different companies that service Daikins. All but one (CORE) were not available. They were booked to the max. John was the only one who called me back with time on his schedule to drop by the next morning. He not only knew and fixed the problem very quickly but he also gave me a quick tutorial on the potential hazards associated with having the outdoor unit “tuned up” if the only problem was that the filters were dirty which was the problem in my case. He was nice, he was friendly, he did a quick check of a second Daikin for me which was not part of the service call, and assured me it was in good operating condition. We booked a check up in April for all of 3 of my Daikin units.And just like that, I changed service providers for my Daikins. I could not be more pleased.

John was absolutely awesome, coming out on a Saturday morning to get our furnace working again. He was able to diagnose the problem quickly (bad circuit board) and already had a new circuit board in his truck that could replace it.He explained about everything he was doing and was extremely friendly. After I mentioned that there was a whistling noise (unrelated to furnace itself) coming from the air intake inside the house, he took a look, figured out what was causing the noise and had a quick, inexpensive solution for it. Now I am able to use the heat and no more whistling noise!Before he left, John even helped clean out the dryer vent duct, which definitely needed the attention.The furnace is up there in age, but John’s work will hopefully get me several more years out of it before it is replaced. Whenever that happens, I will be in touch with John to install a new one.

CORE Heating and Air Conditioning is now my familys go to company for everything HVAC. I worked on a project in conjunction with John, the owner, and it couldnt have gone better. Since then, John has repaired issues with my fathers heating and air conditioning, installed ductless mini split units on our building for our company, and is about to install a new ductless mini split system on my house. Best repair experience ever!My AC went out in 105 degree heat. I called CORE at 3 yesterday and John was here at noon today. He tested and diagnosed the problem in minutes. He Replaced a part, cleaned the unit, checked the furnace and even noticed a melting plastic part on top of the furnace. His bill was very reasonable, much less than I feared. In addition, John is very polite and friendly. My dog immediately loved him!

John is a gem. Im not a yelper but if youre looking for quality work from an honest expert for a fair and reasonable price this is it. There is a reason he has so many irrefutable 5 star reviews. He called me back within an hour of my call at the end of his workday, and fit me into his schedule the next morning. He had the OEM brand name gas valve needed for the repair in his truck, and completed the work within two hours even in a cramped attic. I will call him again if needed for my Bryant HVAC system. He also does ductless units which I will call him for as well. His work was $500 less than what I was quoted for from KC Home services. Spend your money with someone who owns their business, guarantees their work and doesnt inflate their prices to pay for a fleet of trucks and unhelpful employees.
