2024-06-12 14:33:58The location is excellent with ample free parking, nearby restaurants, coffee shops, hiking and plenty of wine tasting. A short drive to downtown Carmel. Carmel Valley is a different vibe than Carmel by the Sea and we loved it.The motel is small, quaint, intimate and mid century modern renovation. For the fancy hotel price we paid (which was extra high because of the holiday weekend) we expected to have a patio cleaned of cobwebs and dirt and a cleaner bathroom. Staff is lovely and attentive, the morning coffee and pastries were a nice perk. But when a motel charges steep hotel prices, one expects upgraded bathrooms, not original 1975 materials with a slap of paint and clean exteriors. The cost should match the value. We would book again, just not at their high season prices.

2024-07-01 21:32:37If this motel had been $100 a night I would have given it 3 stars but considering it was more than $350 a night (after a group discount) I struggle to give it 2 stars. I expect luxury for that price - and there is nothing luxurious about the Contenta Inn. The only reason they can charge these rates is the location - and as we were going to Carmel Valley for a wedding our options were limited. The rooms are basic to say the least. The Inn is clearly very old and although attempts have been made to renovate it still felt very dated. Think highway motel from the 1960’s and you have it. Our room had small things wrong like a ceiling fan missing and a hole in the ceiling where it should have been, a light bulb out (which was fixed) and horrible lumpy pillows. But worse than that was appalling WiFi, no breakfast included and a front desk that wasn’t manned all day - so when we did have an issue around 1pm there was no-one to help resolve it. The outdoor area is ok - pool, hot tub and some games such as ping pong and corn holes - no complaints there. For a basic motel it would have been fine but when you are paying top dollar it needs to be better.

2024-02-12 20:00:36Was dark when I arrived and could not locate the hotel. Hard to see the hotel sign at night. Could be me tired from driving a lot that day. Called staff who was helpful. Was given a room in the back of the building, traveling solo safety is on my mind and I could not lock could not lock the door properly. Asked for another room and was told the hotel was full before I was actually given another room. There were two locked doors inside that room. Anyway… A lot of money ($180 for one night) to be in the middle of nowhere and not feel super safe. The room was otherwise clean. Photos look much better than the actual property.

2024-05-14 17:10:27Modernized old school motel with a jacuzzi that runs late into the night after wine tasting. Not inexpensive, but in the town of Carmel Valley and walking around the town la block away to visit multiple tasting rooms and eat some fine food is part of the experience

2024-06-03 18:32:29Great stay and value for the cost. The location is exactly my speed and much more preferable for me than CBTS and right by the wineries. Loved the amenities and retro vibes. Will definitely be back!

2024-05-25 20:01:07We got 3 rooms. Unfortunately, me and my husbands king room #18, smells like moth balls. The carpet is old coz the carpet in the rooms of my guests is different and dont smell like moth balls. My allergy flared up.

2023-11-13 15:49:47For the price point, the Contenta Inn was perfect. Very peaceful with a beautiful, relaxing courtyard. Our bed was comfortable and although furnishings are worn, the mid century vibe is a perfect fit for this quaint setting. The grounds and room were very clean.Innkeeper Miriam was delightful and accommodating. She provided great dining suggestions and the walk into the village was quick and easy.We would not hesitate to return as it appears the owners are moving ahead with even more improvements.

2023-10-10 13:41:23A perfect place to stay on my bicycle trip south. Rooms very clean, well appointed, quiet, and comfortable. There’s a nice private patio which adjoins the pool area. And you can walk to restaurants, pub, bakery, and all there is in Carmel Valley. I will come back.

2023-09-04 17:36:02This little place was an unexpected surprise! We stayed two nights. The staff are friendly and text messaged me throughout my stay to make sure my family and I had everything we needed. This little gem is designed so each room has its own private back patio and private gate that leads to the pool. A nice couple we met had two dogs that hung out with us by the pool. There is also a heat lamp in the bathroom that you can set via timer so you stay nice and toasty while you shower or get dressed and just outside of the bathroom is another sink and mirror so someone can get ready while someone else is getting showered. There is also two dressers in the room if you plan on staying awhile and need extra storage. They also provide extra thick blankets and two extra pillows. Only thing missing is a microwave, but honestly we didnt mind it. We are already planning our next trip back.

2023-09-26 13:58:56We enjoyed our stay at this very comfortable and clean motel right in the middle of Carmel Valley town. Our room had two large comfy beds, air-conditioning, big bathroom and an outdoor patio that led to the swimming pool. Highly recommended!
