I had the pleasure of meeting Brad Sears and his team at Consumer Music during a special Open Mic event that included a recipient of A Wish of a Lifetime where the nice lady learned to play guitar and performed in front of a live audience. The music and setting at this location in Vallejo are fantastic. Dont look, just go..! You wont be disappointed.

A very nice shop with friendly and helpful staff. A perfect place to go for lessons or for your next instrument. They happily let me try some guitars, helped me find things I needed, and even gave me a tour of the lesson rooms and recording studio. Nice hidden gem for musicians and music lovers. Location is kind of hard to reach and parking isnt too convenient because of traffic, but the store itself is spacious with a wide variety of instruments. I found out about this place because I needed my guitar strings changed and they did an excellent job. They also offer lessons for all kinds of instruments l and all ages.

Took my very first guitar in to get worked on. Agreed to have a few things done, setup, saddle change, tuner change and BRAD offered to bevel a small hole under my truss rod. THIS MAN did 1/3rd of the work he charged me for, NICKED AND SCRATCHED my guitar, then DIDNT BOTHER TO CALL FOR A MONTH do-not-bring-anything you care about to this guy, he is a salesman, not a musician.

Outrageously, kind and very helpful. The man that helped me was super nice, and I literally would’ve bought anything that I needed from him. They helped me out in a pinch when we were in Napa for a show and forgot some music gear. As I was running out to my car in a rush, I almost left my credit card. He ran out after me to hand it to me, and it saved me a ton of headache. Make this your music store, and do everything you can to keep it in business in this world of big box stores. 10 out of 10 would recommend, and will definitely come again if I need something.

Went in with my Harp one day this past week and was greeted by a Very nice employee Mars. The inside of the store was quite impressive. There was a couple customers in and a man which i came to find out was the owner was having a very engaging and visually pleasant electric demo. I really enjoyed how through he was being with the potential customers. I also really appreciate how he was determined to figure out a way to help me tune my harp. I am usually a very busy person and dont like spending a lot of time any where but the vibe that the owner and his employees create I have no doubt I will be visiting again .

I purchased my daughter her first guitar and amp. Brad was extremely helpful in explaining how the products worked. He went above and beyond to answer all our questions. We asked about guitar lessons and he showed us the rooms they have for private lessons, which seemed reasonably priced. I didn’t get the other gentleman’s name. He helped us load the items in the car. Very nice experience for us. I would recommend this business because they are very knowledgeable about their products. I never felt pressured Into buying anything we didn’t need.

A few months ago I popped in looking to see if consumer music offered rental services since I was looking for speakers to set up for my wedding. Brad was more than helpful and knowledgeable so easily I felt comfortable renting equipment from consumer music.Everything went well at the wedding and when I came back to return the items Brad was so eager to know how the event went. After lost in conversation I was so eager to explore the rest of the store since I knew this was their new location and saw that they have expanded. Really really expanded! Mars, another nice associate, showed me around and I was in awe of what I saw. Rooms for lessons, rooms to have jam sessions, and a recording area! I was blown away. Not only will I tell people to check out this store but I will tell musicians to check it out and make some musical magic here! Can’t wait to go back!

Just got my first classical guitar from here and am extremely proud of my purchase. I let Brad know my price range and he set me up in a private room to play on my own. He gave me time to feel the instrument out while he brought different ones in and out. He ended up suprising me with an amazing one that I didnt wanna put down.Everyone working there was super nice and fun to chat with. They also advertised their open mic nights, which I plan to visit as soon as I can. Thanks folks, i got a new favorite guitar!

I found this shop via Siri because my local music store in Napa closed. I was immediately welcomed and felt right at home. I was in shopping for an Amp for my daughter, and a little bit for myself. The staff allowed me to try an Amp in my price range and there was no hard sell or anxiety to buy. Just talking music and sound quality. Chops and Groove. Walked out with a Yamaha THR5, new cables, picks, and a new place to browse and kanakapila.

I called to inquire about the repair of my ESP Ltd Bass Guitar yesterday and spoke to an employee who was condescending and rude. Truthfully, you can receive better customer service and more informative musicians at Guitar Center then this dump. I’ll never come back.Also, prices are outrageous compared to any online source and this shop should be taken as a last resort. They never have anything in stock.

This is a great local music store offering a carefully selected line of quality instruments and equipment. Ive been trusting Brad at consumer music for all my guitar set ups, restoration and mods for almost half my life at this point. Friendly, down to earth service with most accessories you could think of at a basic level.the only reason I give the place Ive been going to for years a 4 out of 5 is because they dont have Guitar Center style stock with every brand imaginable, but its a perfect place to pick starter or intermediate focused gear

Amazing knowledge and customer service! Brad went above and beyond to find a guitar case that met TSA guidelines on short notice. The original case that had been recommended by another company was not correct and Brad caught the error! If you need knowledge of instruments this is the place to go!

Called for a very simple setup request. I dont have the time to sit down and dial in a 1970s bass and I needed it done today, since my regular guy wasnt available. Just some remaining fret buzz. 20 minutes for a guy whonknows his stuff....easy money that i was willing to pay. I called and explained that I know what I need Ive been around a long time and its a very quick job Im willing to pay for. Whoever this was on the phone tried to tell me I needed a fret job without even looking at it, and then ask why I couldnt just do it myself....then put me on hold forn10nminutes to check his schedule.Cool. I will.Im surprised this ghost town store would turn down the business. If you want to buy C level instruments at high prices or maybe just a mic stand or something this might be the shop for you. If you are a pro musician who wants to deal with other Pro musicians, definitely do not go to this dump.

Very very cool place. Great set up in relatively small space and the guy that was there was really nice and chill. Parking can be an issue, but outside of that they have just about anything you could want. We were signing up for guitar lessons and got great teacher.

This was the first music store I found in the Vallejo area. The owner was very nice and accommodating. He led me to a studio in the back of the store to try out a bass and then later we swapped stories of meeting with world-renowned players. I also found a piece for a new bass that I recently acquired in his store. Several kids came in to buy hearts and try out instruments again he was very accommodating. I would recommend this story to anybody in the area.

Absolutely fantastic store. Staff is polite, professional and knowledgeable. And have no problem going out of their way to help you. When so many business have slid downhill over the years, Consumer Music has maintained the Customer First attitude. Will do ALL music business with them in the future. Even if some prices are a bit steep, in the long run it is worth it. I dont mind supporting a local business who is as good as this one. At least I know if anything goes wrong, I will get immediate help and have a great customer service experience compared to most experiences I have online.

This is a great music store! It has a very comfortable feel, with plenty of knowledgeable staff that are eager to help you out . They give lessons, and also have an instrument repair department. They, from time to time, have free seminars and workshops. Once a month they have an open mic night. Anyone can come sign up and show their stuff!

Absolutely terrible service!! Do not trust them to do any work on your instruments, they had my husband’s guitar for TWO months and they couldn’t figure out how to do a simple install of new pickups. They practically ruined his very expensive PRS, and didn’t even bother to offer a partial refund for taking so damn long while they ruined his guitar. Thanks for taking our money to completely screw up his guitar!!

No wonder local business is dying. Consumer Music has some great employees but their prices are INSANE! I called on a Saturday to see if I could come in and buy some guitar strings. The employee said they were closing but offered to stay open for an extra 15 minutes. It was a very generous offer but I waited till Monday as not to be a burden. On Monday I went in and purchased Daddario electric guitar stings (normally $5 anywhere else) Consumer Music CHARGED $13!! There were also several mediocre guitars ($400 - $600 anywhere else) that Consumer Music was charging upwards of $1000! Great employees; horrible prices.

There is no customer service on the internet. Come and ask your question to real friendly people who really want to help you. I called Consumer Music in Vallejo, after speaking to someone at Gordons Music in Fairfield, and ABC Music in Benicia. I was told by ABC Music that they would order the book I requested and it would take a week to be received. I called to see if it had arrive and was advised it would take about another week, they would call when it arrived. I called Gordons and was abruptly interrupted with I need the title, & the publishers name to order it for you. I had already given this information, but had asked if they had it in stock. I called Consumer Music who answered the phone pleasantly, and were very helpful they recognized a customer and a potential customer is useful for business. Consumer Music checked for the item, let me know what else was in stock in that series, and offered to order it. This is how it should be. A business these days should be aware that they are competing with the internet, where a customer usually doesnt have to deal with rude customer service, items are usually shipped immediately, not 2 weeks later, and are usually received as promised.
