Deeply disappointed. I did makeup for a convention for the Confluent booth and was never paid. They hired a company, Characters Inc, and the company paid me by check and then reversed my funds last minute after I bought a wig, gave it a haircut, bought prosthetics and did a quick makeup. I run one of the best fx companies in the Bay Area, but I was hired the night before. Characters Inc scammed me for free work and materials and I emailed Melissa Almgren to ask if she could interject a word on my behalf since she and the convention goers were pleased by the makeup. My email was short, professional and respectful. If she couldnt do that, at least asking Characters to make sure I was paid out of good ethics would have been appreciated. All I can think is that she did not want to get involved in something controversial, but I think a simple letter could have done a lot for me. Characters Inc promised to pay me for almost a year and even said once that the check was in the mail...

Was just charged $500 USD erroneously. Authorities have been contacted. Their website does not allow you to DELETE account either. No one returning calls or emails. Could be fraudulent. Be wary.

Only got to visit, never got to call it home, but was a great remote office while it lasted. Heres to another 2+ years in the new mountain view HQ!
