After using a mortgage company in Los Angeles to purchase my home, I was less than thrilled with their customer service, explanations and transparency. I ask a lot of questions and expect thoughtful answers. My parents recommended Brian McClure & his team at Community First for a refinance and after my first conversation I liked them 10x more. We refinanced and it went really well. Then we refinanced AGAIN and it went really well AGAIN! I am a true novice in anything mortgage, homeowner, or tax related and Brian was able to break down numbers, give precise estimates, speak plainly and clearly to me to help me make the right decision. I never felt pushed to make a decision and I felt heard when I brought up any issues that needed clarification. Theyre tech savvy and make the process painless. Oh, and they had less expensive fees than my previous company. Highly recommend, even for a home purchase/refinance in Los Angeles.

Where do I start? As a first-time home buyer, JB went above and beyond in making sure we were comfortable and understood every step of the purchasing process. Lowest interest rate, with fastest closing time (5-10 days), in all the homes I have bought so far and this is my fourth home purchase !!Excellent support from Brian, Laura and Michael. They answered all my questions satisfactorily, usually in matter of minutes. On occasions I needed to speak with Brian or Laura, I was always able to speak with them over the phone each time. Never had to call back.Buying a house at this time (April-May 2021) in California is nothing short of blood sport. Working with community first mortgage was the only thing that brought smile and comfort to us in this process.They were able to get loan approval in 2 days after document submission. We requested a last minute change to the loan document (adding impounds) on the closing day, and they worked with the lender (underwriters) to update the whole loan document in less than an hour and get it approved so we could close the same day.Many thanks to you, Brian and Laura for making it easy for us.

Look no further! I scoured for the lowest possible rate through direct lenders and a few brokers. Rates were very competitive with all BUT Valerie the owner and Mikes interest rates were significantly lower than all the rest!They beat out everyone, no joke! Very experienced long standing family company who has great lender relations. You won’t find a more honest company and LOWER rate anywhere. They will work hard on tricky loans too. So happy I picked Community first mortgage! :)

Thank you Neil and Alex for making the mortgage process surprisingly stress-free. Community First had the best rates and they were very forthcoming about all the fees associated with the home purchase. Other lenders I talked to were not as forthcoming about disclosing rates and fees. In addition, both Neil (loan officer) and Alex (loan processor) were very informative, responsive, and kind when we had questions or wanted clarification about the process. I highly highly recommend working with Community First if you want to get the best of both worlds: great rates and stellar customer service.

I recently refinanced my mortgage with Community First Mortgage. I cannot say enough about how knowledgeable, professional, friendly and accommodating they were throughout the entire process. I have gone through the refinance process several times in the past and my experience with Community First Mortgage was exceptional. I worked closely with Valerie, Mike and their team. They know their business very well. They provided me with different options and recommendations that were extremely helpful. They both were very responsive and were able to complete the loan process in a short time frame. I was able to lock in a low rate for 30 years. I did not have to pay any fees, was able to get money back and put money towards paying my property tax. I highly recommend Community First Mortgage!!

I just completed a loan application with them; it was absolutely a smooth and pleasant process.I first found Community First Mortgage through simple Google search and was impressed with their online ratings. Once I started talking with them, I was even more impressed. On the first impression, what makes Community First Mortgage stand out is not only the great rate and fast processing commitment, but also their transparency. Both Neil Coulsell (my loan officer) and Mike Mitchell Sr. were forthright from the beginning. They shared good information to help me make the right decision. On top of that, they have a wonderful team and provide excellent customer service. From my first quote email until the last loan funding notification, Neil was consistently responsive, timely, diligent and thoughtful. His teammate Kayla who handled my application processing was also pleasant to work with. Everyone else I had a chance to interact with was all professional and attentive to my needs.Overall this is a solid company with a team of dedicated and trustful people you can build out partnership with. Im not sure where to begin with the praise for Valerie, Alex, and their team at Community First. Valerie and Alex were wonderful when I purchased my first home in 2017 and my fiancé and I were ready to sell both of our homes last year and started the process in late November. At the time we were referred to another lender (Referral Lending in case you want to see this review too). We were deeply unhappy with that contact but this isnt about him. This is about how we desperately called Valerie and her team in January, with 19 days left before closing on both of our homes and still without a loan. Valerie fact gathered and worked her magic. She was honest, straightforward, and communicative. I cant say enough how much I value her and her whole teams diligence and constant communication during this time. We were so worried that we would end up in a situation where we chased our dream home and entered into a contingency purchase agreement, and would sell both of our homes and we would have to rent an apartment because we wouldnt get a loan in time. Valerie and her team stepped in and executed with experience and professionalism, positive attitude, and outstanding customer service and got us our home loan approved and funded THE DAY of closing. To stress the gravity of excellence and their fantastic work here is the timeline. In early January we were presented with outlandishly high rates and fees from a lender that was an absolute nightmare to work with (Referral Lending), then Valerie and Alex and team stepped in with their can-do attitude, happy and ready for the challenge. Our first home sale closed on January 14th. Our second home sale closed on January 25th. The purchase of our new home, contingent upon funds from both home sales closed on January 25th. Valerie and her stellar team got us approved and funded in 19 days!!! Not only did they manage to get us closing on our dream home, but they executed with thoroughness and rigor, and got us an incredible rate and a monthly payment that was half what the other lender tried to get us to sign up for. Valerie and her team care deeply about their clients and it shows clearly in their work. THANK YOU! I would never work with anyone else. We, and our whole family, are Community First clients for life. To add to this, Valerie doesnt forget about you after the deal is done. She will call you to see if she can save you money. We just closed on our house in 22 days with Community First Mortgage. We worked with Mike and he was great at walking us through everything, follow-up and very detail oriented. We are amazed at how quickly he was able to do this for us. The crazy thing is had the seller followed through sooner on a few items we would have closed even sooner than 22 days. I highly recommend them and will definitely use them again when we need to.

I was looking for a local mortgage company with a personal touch to handle my refi after getting the run around by my big corporate lender of 13 years, and I was fortunate enough to find Community First Mortgage. Neil was assigned to my case and I immediately knew I was dealing with a professional, and someone to give me the special attention my case needed. He was able to get me a no cost loan at a very competitive rate, and a slew of cash on top of that. With his suggestion, I will use that cash to pay off some old debt and revisit refinancing in about a year when my FICO score is more agreeable to an even lower interest rate. For over the last year, weve been searching for our new home and hes been with us every step of the way. Even before we found a home, he kept sending us weekly rate updates for the loan program we wanted to have. Then once we were in escrow, he had the answer to every single question I had and never seemed it to be a burden with the countless number of emails I kept sending him to have our questions answered. He was a HUGE reason why we were able to finally close on our home. I cant believe that in just 18 months I have now gone through the lending process 3 times - 1 buy + 2 refinances. And all turned out to be with with Neil and the team at Community First Mortgage (CFM). And every time, I had a great experience and felt how honest and transparent they are as a team and company.In any lending process there will be hiccups so you must be sure the people you are working with will take care of everything, and FAST! And that is what Neil and CFM did each time we had any hiccups along the way, so that all of my loans funded as soon as possible, saving me money.At this point, Im convinced that the rates and costs of CFM are some of the best in the industry (unless you have some ridiculous connection that is for the super-elite), and so for me the service is what pushes this group to the top. I felt like you were very forthright and thorough on all of my options at all times, and I never felt any pressure to accept an option I wasnt comfortable with. At no point did I feel like I couldnt trust you and always felt like I was making an educated decision. You responded to every one of my questions/requests, and were always quick and accurate in your responses, and being able to interface with you primarily over text and email really made my busy life easier. Most importantly, no other lender that I contacted with regard to this refi could offer what you were able to get me. I feel that I got the best possible loan I could have received at the time. I also appreciate how quickly you were able to recover and present new options when my appraisal unexpectedly came up far short of expectations. I admit that my heart sunk when the house appraised so low, and I thought my options were going to be pretty dismal. However, you were able to cheer me up in short order once I learned that my options werent that bad at all and there was still plenty of savings to be had. This is where you want to go for a Mortgage... Community first with Neil and Laura were fantastic...Did what they said they would do, limited the drama which comes with every mortgage now and came in equal to best deal I could find...anywhere, and they were local.I did the Amerisave thing and other long distance internet deals and wanted to go local this time...really made the difference. Same story for a friend that was refinancing from a miserable Amerisave deal and went with Neil at Community first.
