Our family has a fun tradition of doing an escape room with my sisters family every time the two families get together. Weve grown over the years, and we are now 10 strong, so sometimes its difficult to find an escape room that can accommodate us. Code Zone had a fun 10-person room called X Marks the Spot, which is an 8/10 difficulty level. We are pretty confident in our skills, so the rating didnt dissuade us at all. We were able to beat it with just over 8 minutes to spare. We loved the variety of puzzles across two rooms (we LOVE multi-room games), and only really needed one clue, which was more of a clarification than anything. All in all, we were very impressed with the game and will absolutely go back when the opportunity presents itself. Thanks, Code Zone, for the fun event! Keep up the great work!

Such a fun experience! Our game master Paige was very helpful and sweet. We played X-Marks the spot and the puzzles were very well made! Just enough to make you think but not overly complicated. Would recommend!

We had a great experience in our escape room! Paige was really friendly and helpful throughout our process. We went with 4 kids (ages 7-10) and 4 adults. The “Get In The Game” room was challenging but so much fun! Highly recommend!

Our family of 5 had a good time doing the X Marks the Spot room. The puzzles were well thought out and fit well into the theme. We found the puzzles challenging but not too challenging though we have done a number of escape rooms in the past.

We (group of 5 adults) had a lot of fun with this one. The atmosphere of props, lighting, even background sounds, were great! The X Marks the Spot is mentally challenging, the clues were subtle and clever. We DID finish with no hints ... but tough enough that I guess many dont finish.

Great fun. We finished with a little more than a minute. The game was challenging. Our team was 6 players, ages 9 to 71. We played X marks the Spot. Very entertaining and whole group involvement.

We did the classroom-themed room, and were impressed by the range of puzzle types. Our party of two adults and two kids did well, with everyone contributing, and there was no real lull to the flow of the room. Despite the first impression of the room feeling a little underwhelming in terms of decor, you soon get involved enough in the puzzles to look past it, and to be fair, it is priced appropriately. Henry, our gamemaster, was friendly and attentive to the group. We’ll return for the other offering at this location, and probably one day the portable game too.

We did the portable escape room for a 9 year olds birthday. It was so well put together and such a special experience! They were able to use the hints so while it would be plenty challenging for adults, the kids were able to maintain interest by being able to solve some puzzles and get bugged along on others. The family that owns Code Zone is a sweet local family that is passionate about their craft and thoughtful In their delivery. I fully recommend them and will be back for more fun. Lots of fun. The puzzles were challenging, but not impossible. We did a double date in the 9/10 pirate room and got out with two minutes to spare and no hints. Very rewarding experience. Can’t wait to go back.

We had our family together to do the Pirate Room. It far surpassed my expectations! What a fun experience! We had ages 7 to 69 working together in a variety of groups and then pair up with others. It was a challenge, exciting and fun. Yay! And we completed all of the challenges in under 1 hours. We want to go for a different room and come again. Highly recommend it!

I took a bunch of 10 and 11 yr old girls to the easier room, and it was an absolute blast. It was just hard enough to make them frazzled but they figured it out. The host was very helpful, patient, informative, and all in all, a great experience for a kid birthday party. I would love to come back with some adults for the harder room!

Great experience for our party of seven. We did the Get to the Game room which is great for kids and novices. The hostess gave us a thorough briefing with a slide deck in advance and she was very generous with hints to ensure we got unstuck and still had fun. The puzzles are actually puzzles and not just tasks. I believe everything was a part of the game unless told before otherwise and that was cool that they blended puzzles props and decoration all in one which is amazing. If code zone had another room I would be more than excited to come back.

We had a group of 10 go to Code Zone for a fun afternoon activity. The pricing was very reasonable and the host was extremely accommodating considering that we had several people running a bit late. We had a company offsite in early January. The first time since Covid. As a team building exercise, we had groups try each of the escape rooms. It was a great experience. The puzzle are very challenging and the staff is amazing at guiding you through the experience. Two thumbs up!

All the best escape rooms seem to be up a white set of stairs and terminate at a heavy door. Okay, I detract points for accessibility (a member of our party had a cast on and struggled up the stairs), but thats about it.First, the lobby: cozy, fun, well-decorated. Even if the two escape rooms have vastly different themes, there was a good blend of both in the lobby, not clashing, but giving people a hint of whats to come. There were some fun games to pass the time until our session started, but we didnt have to wait long.Henry did an excellent job explaining how the escape room worked to our group of both escape room fans and escape room newbies. We got inside and the clock started ticking!The pirate experience was FULL of puzzles, quite literally everywhere you turned there was something to explore. We had a full group of 10 people, including several PhDs, and EVERYONE was thoroughly engaged, rapidly working together to piece everything together. At one point, we got stuck but couldnt agree on whether we were doing something wrong or got a clue incorrect; Henry luckily rescued us as a freebie, so it didnt impact our did we get hints? count.Ive been to escape rooms where the solution to everything is some tiny detail from the beginning you missed, but thats not the case here; every puzzle plays its part, but you should definitely avail yourself of the tools youre given—you will need them!Great fun, though with a full group, everything moved so quickly that some puzzles got solved before I even knew they existed. I do wish some puzzles didnt necessarily involve locks (at the end of the day), but thats it. Otherwise, loved it and would definitely do a similar experience at Code Zone again.

This was our sceond time with code zone and did the at home puzzle trunk game, this time for my birthday, it was set well and the puzzles were very well thought out. We enjoyed ourselves and solve the puzzle in a little over an hour. The only thing I felt was that the price was to high. But over all it was super fun. We are returning to do the pirate escape this next weekend.

My group and I were a little late coming off the 101 (of course) and the Code Zone’s staff was so wonderfully understandable and kind to all of us! The guy who helped up (I forgot your name I’m sorry!) was absolutely sweet and so so funny, made everyone feel at ease despite being stressed for being late, and helped us all get into a fun mood when the time for the escape room!And other than the staff being fantastic, the room was so much fun!! The puzzles weren’t too difficult, but they were not easy at all! There were a lot of aha moments with the puzzles which was so fun! Would recommend to anyone looking for a small, affordable, and extra fun escape room!

We held my 9year old’s birthday party at Code Zone and the kids had a blast. We had 11 boys who had to figure out how to cooperate to solve the puzzle and they loved it. So much better than the traditional competitive games. My husband went in while I sat outside and heard shouts of excitement throughout. All the kids came out happy. Leading up to the birthday, we had to reschedule 4 times due COVID issues and the staff and management were incredibly accommodating. I highly recommend.

We are a family of 6 adults who went to celebrate our youngest and oldest kids birthdays. We had a blast!!! One of us had done an escape room before but the rest were escape room virgins. Our daughter and her friends had a great time for her birthday! It was a fun theme and the prop for photos at the end was a nice touch. Our only concern is the payment policy. We had some kids cancel, but we were required to pay for them (although they did give us a discounted future use). I think the policy should be adjusted, since they have to have one staff member present no matter what. Possibly charge a minimum of 4 participants per room every time and then $30 more for how many arrive day of. Basically - only require a charge for 4 participants and then add on up to 8 or 10 would be what Id like to see.

What a fun hour! There was so much detail and thought put into the experience and plenty for our group of 9 to do. Great problems to solve for all skill levels - kids to adults. We had to ask for one hint and it came quickly and was just what we needed. We escaped! One of our group was hesitant to commit to participating due to a tad bit of claustrophobia, but the room was spacious and the task was engaging enough that she stayed the entire time, and I was assured before our appointment the door is never locked and she could step out at any time if needed. Wed love to return to experience the other room.

One of the locks was so sticky that we spent about 10 minutes on it and still couldnt open it. It was the final lock too, and we were unable to escape because of it. After that, the woman over seeing our experience came in, and even she couldnt get it to open for five minutes as we stood around waiting for the lock to click. Otherwise, the puzzles were very clever and original!

I am a veteran escape room visitor although this was my first time at Code Zone.The staff were friendly and obviously engaged in the work at hand.I found the room challenging, well thought out and not nearly as easy as some others I have visited. This was a gift for my grandsons 12th birthday. He had two of his friends with him and his 9 year old brother as well as his parents, his aunt and myself. We just had the BEST experience here for my birthday! We went with a group of about 11 of us and only one of us had ever done an escape room before. We did the pirate room and even though we didn’t get through the whole thing, it was super fun and quite the challenge! The owners did a fantastic job setting the scene and creating some really difficult puzzles for us to solve. We were at the very last puzzle when we ran out of time so even though we didn’t finish the whole thing, we all still felt really accomplished. Thank you Code Zone for an awesome birthday! We booked for Friday night on a Wednesday afternoon this last week and THAT was super easy and user friendly right from my phone. We chose X-marks the spot! Age appropriate I’d say makes sense for 9 and up. We had our 10 yr old son and newly turned 13 yr old boys. We were all challenged!Room is decorated with pirate ship themed items including two dressed up skeletons and a ship vibe. We did not finish within the hour and we used 4 or more hint’s be-grudgingly! We were SO close though!We were a total of 8 (6 kids and 2 adults). Feels like we could’ve finished before the hour if we were a smaller group size. They say to work in groups/pairs and we should’ve split the group BEFORE walking in! Once we were in there everyone got excited and just started searching for clues so we weren’t organized at first but, we kept trying to figure out clues shouting and yelling over one another on the fly until we eventually unlocked more clues. It was fun though and we didn’t take ourselves too seriously, so laughter and some goofing around with props were highlights. White boards and dry erase markers are provided to write down clues.We wish Code Zone offered 5, or 10 minute increases maybe up to 20 minutes past the hour for those who may need it to actually finish! Especially at $30 per person! They did give us 5 additional minutes but, then the timer was out and the lights came on. Boo hoo! We were bummed as a group and the kids especially were a bit annoyed and frustrated and my husband and I at the price tag with NOT finishing in time.The employee came in to let us know “we were so close!” We had to know how much further we had to go (we knew we had one more lock to crack) before solving the entire puzzle! So we definitely needed more time.As for location and finding the entrance… I used Google maps which took us to the side door off Petaluma Blvd walking back toward the water and bridge. We went in that side door to an elevator that was broken and confusing us. I called them to as ask where we find the entrance. Even though Google took us to the appropriate address we were at the wrong door on the side of the building next to the coffee shop. There was a sign in the second floor window above the side entrance where we stood reading “CODE ZONE” so we knew we were close! It would be super helpful if THAT SIGN had an arrow pointing toward Petaluma Blvd to the “main entrance” or something like that. I would definitely make that more clear if I were the owner or manager.Once we got to the main door there was a sign board and it was very clear we were in the right spot. Code Zone should consider having another sign board at the back entrance saying to go around to the front of the building past the piano guy (playing piano on Friday night) to find the correct entrance.Anyway that part was a little confusingand that snafu made us late!We’d like to come back and do the sport one next.Highly recommend for double date night with friends, girls night, moms night out, birthdays, or family night fun!

My family just had a wonderful time at the Code Zone escape rooms. We had previously done X Marks the Spot with 6 players and barely finished. Very exciting, with the right amount of challenge. This time we did Get to the Game with 4 players. Though we needed a few hints, we were able to get through it with a bit of time to spare and had a blast. I think this one is great for smaller groups or beginners who want a fun first experience. The staff is great and the atmosphere makes it comfortable, safe and memorable. Looking forward to trying their 3rd room!

We LOVED Code Zone in Petaluma! The puzzles were challenging but doable for a group with several people doing their first escape room. We had so much fun as a group. We ran out of time while working out the last clue but they let us stay a few extra minutes to finish, which was exciting for us. Highly recommend!

We had family come up from L.A. and doing the escape rooms at the Code Zone in Petaluma were perfect for some great family bonding. The wonderful family who run the place were very nice and patient in accommodating our group of 14. We split into 2 groups, 1 group of adults and the other group made up of the kids. Code Zone was able to run both themed rooms concurrently so both of our groups could perform the rooms in the same 1 hour block.Our plan was for the adults to do X Marks The Spot and the kids to do Get To The Game. Both of our groups were able to beat our rooms and had so much fun doing so, we decided to book the next hour so we could swap rooms! Again, the adults were able to finish our room, while the kids came really close to finishing theirs. Super fun!Completing the rooms was accomplished by dividing up tasks, with communication being the absolute key! If you see something, say something, because someone in your group may have come across something that may have you stumped. Overall, the rooms were really fun with the degree of difficulty of each being pretty comparable to one another.I definitely would recommend Code Zone for a family group event or any other group setting for that matter, whether it be for a work team building excercise or just a group of friends getting together looking for some good fun! Code Zone recently hosted our Petaluma Active 20-30 club for a social event, and I cannot say enough about how wonderful they are! Incredibly friendly, helpful, & easy to work with through the entire booking process. We rented both rooms for a large group of 20+. They were accommodating in adjusting the times so the rooms could be run simultaneously. And very helpful with explaining how everything works, since about half the group (including myself) had never done an escape room. We had so much fun, a challenge for sure, but we made it out! I can’t wait to go back and try the other room! Highly recommend!

The room was challenging enough that they were pushed, and while they didnt quite complete it, they still felt some success in what they accomplished. The kids could not stop talking about how fun it was and us adults are itching to do this again. I was brought along to participate in an escape room for a friends birthday party having never really done anything like it, so I didnt know what to expect. Whatever expectations I may have had however were absolutely surpassed by my experience here, both in terms of the level of detail and the complexity of the challenge. So much fun! 9 of my girlfriends and I ransacked this place looking for clues and it was a really good time. Ive enjoyed several other escape rooms and the Pirate Room at Code Zone is one of the best! The clues are thoughtful and just challenging enough to get you really thinking and the awesome decor give you an authentic escape room experience. Code Zone is wonderful! We booked at a time when businesses were still open, to do the pirate escape room. When the new orders came restricting indoor activities we thought for sure we would have to wait, but Code Zone came up with an outdoor escape room. It had a board game theme, which I loved, and had creative and challenging puzzles.Safety was priority number one and the “room” and all of its items were disinfected before hand and after we left. They provided sanitizer and gloves. Masks were worn the whole time. I felt safe and had a ton of fun.This was my first time visiting an escape room, but it won’t be my last time visiting Code Zone. We had a fabulous time the only reason I am giving three stars and not five is that the girls in my party were age 11 there were 10 of them with myself and my sister-in-law who are adults and when we booked the room we were specific and said that there will be children in the room How are the challenges and they said they made them age specific which did not happen. It was a lot of fun but very challenging so had it been adults I would’ve given it a five but because we were in there an hour and had to continually ask for clues and one part of the room broke that’s why it’s getting three stars

We werent sure about going during Covid19 but saw reviews about their sanitary practices that reinsured us.When we got there and did the pirate escape room, our takeaways are:1. it was very sanitary and everything was wiped down, hand sanitizer available, masks worn and you only do the room with your group.2. it was fun for the whole family. we were four people including our 12 and 10 year old daughters. We were on the last clue when time ran out and for all four of us it was fun and challenging and time flew.3. The staff are the owners and inventors of the eacape rooms and are super nice and really get into seeing how folks in the escape room are doing. afterwards they said when they traveled (before covid) they always do escape rooms where they go because they love seeing different escape rooms. they also shared with great enthusiasm how they found the different pictures or props that make up the escape room.Definitely check out Code Zone Petaluma. Amazing a bit expensive and harder to find a small door fro. The street a big sighn may help but definitely worth it i would recommend to anyone.
