Legendary garlic steak sandwiches, fried ravioli and zucchini. Oh yeah, the chocolate tort and fried cheesecake for dessert are to die for. I was a regular for lunch and dinner 35+ years ago, but hadn’t been back since moving out of state. Visiting all the way from New Hampshire. West Sac sure has changed but the restaurant hasn’t. Not fancy, and kinda stuck in a time warp - but still serves an amazing meal. Hostess named Joyce made my wife and me feel special on a busy Friday night. Our server, Dina, was prompt professional and polite. The whole staff is like a big loving, hard working family. Good old fashioned service. Reservations recommended.

I think the price and experience are well balanced enough. The room is mildly but adequately lit. Atmosphere is classy, clean, old fashioned and relaxing. Theres a strong antique vibe to the general inside area. Its enjoyable. Window seats are nice if you like those and want a bit more outside lighting to come in.The food was done well! If it were any more, I might feel its overpriced but its right on the line. Others may feel its a bit more expensive than it should be. Fair enough. The meat plates are all tasteful and filling. The calamari is pretty good but not the best Ive had. However, much nicer than a lot of places that offer it. Get the small and if you like it and want more, upgrade to the large!Ill probably end up here on occasion if I want nicer food and dont want to drive to downtown Sacramento. Its gotta be one of the classier and high end restaurant experiences in West Sacramento.

Dinner was amazing. The housemade ravioli was so tender. They make 8,000 per week of these delicacies!!! The 6 layer lasagna, the house specialty baked chicken, the FRESH green beans, the bread that was perfumed with garlic but didnt overpower the palate. But the surprise of the night...besides the fact that they actually DONT serve pheasant....the FRESH Lima beans! Who KNEW they would be so good! What a treat tonight was!!!

Walked in to this restaursnt noticing spiderwebbbs everywhere. Had their famous ravioli wich I wanted to try before they closed for business. 87 years in the restaurant business is no easy thing to do. You can tell they are at the end of their rope. Ravioli was horrible and sauce was watery. Maybe the cook was upset for the server putting on the ticket make it now I might give the garlic steak sandwich a try but maybe not. Disappointed

Dont know if it was a fluke but the Garlic Steak Sandwich I ordered was lackluster. A slab of okay meat and bread, no toppings, and much smaller than expected. It was good but the presentation and quantity was not.

To start if you intend on going here make a reservation at least a day in advance or prepare to wait even up to 2 hours. We did a walk in at 5 and got seated at 6:30. The food was delicious and included the prime rib special and fried ravioli. The server was superb, attentive, and accommodating to our toddlers. This was our first time and the general populace of customers were seniors. Supposedly closing at the end of 2022, so visit if you can.

I love a local business. People are kind and welcoming, both staff and other customers. Food is OK. Menu is pasta, steaks, and very good salmon. There is a baked chicken that is excellent. I would like to see this place be a bit more consistent in their offerings. Not all happy hour food always available. They run out of prime rib, etc.

1st time visiting Club Pheasant. Called for a to-go, was told 30 mins. When I got there, I could tell by the way the actions of the hostess (she was very nice) the order hadnt been placed. When she came back I straight up asked if it had been forgotten. She didnt lie to me and I appreciated that. Said itd be about 10 more minutes. I asked if theyd be willing to put a discount (10%) on it, she said they didnt charge me for garlic bread *they hooked it up on the bread*. And offered me ice cream, which confused me because the dinner option comes with ice cream. However...I personally understand forgetting to ring in an order, I have done it before...stuff happens.By the time I got home it had been an hour since I had ordered.My food was very hot when i got home. I liked the texture of the lime beans but not the flavor too tangy for me.The meatballs came sauceless and were dry, not impressed.As for the ravioli, that was exceptional!Overall I want to give it a 3.5 but cant.Mixed feeling after my experience but Id like to go back and try some other things.

Had lunch there last week. Ordered the garlic steak sandwich and fries. My daughter ordered the same. I will never go back. The steak has no flavor at all. It’s the bun with a garlic spread on it. We had to add A-1sauce to eat it. We never add A-1 unless no flavor in a steak. It was tender, I will give them that. The fries had no salt or seasoning at all on them. They were not good. Ordered a margarita and it comes in a big tall glass, it was all mix, had to send it back. I did not order a different drink after that. If you want a great big steak sandwich go to the Virgin Sturgeon. That is my favorite place for steak sandwiches. I was told they were get here, but I don’t agree at all. They are 20.00 and the steak is super thin. Was very disappointed. Drove from Elk Grove to get there.

Had been going there since back in the 60s. Pretty much the same interior look and feel. Like most places its slipped a bit. Still the best ravioli around and their house chicken options still hold up. The bar is well stocked, well maintained and well staffed. Worth a try for traditional italian.

It takes a lot for me to rate this low.. but the entire experience just was not good.45 minute wait. When we finally get seated, and I wish I took a picture, the table cloth was filthy. Took 10+ minutes before we were greeted or acknowledged. Another 20 before drinks came out. My minestrone soup was lukewarm at best and the plate it came out on had food splatters all over it. Not saying it was dirty but come on guys...take 5 seconds to wipe plates before you bring them out of the kitchen. My entree, which was the garlic steak sandwich, was the exact same. Presentation was horrible and it tasted like yesterdays steak. It was so chewy and literally just thrown in between two pieces of bread with nothing else . Ill also add that the table bread we got was the same exact bread the sandwich came on...basically just a toasted hoagie roll split in half and thrown in a basket. Really??Our server, whos name I dont think we ever even got, she was so all over place and didnt seem to know anything about how the menu worked. I guess we didnt either. My dad ordered the salmon and we were both under the impression it came with a starter, baked potato and ice cream based off the way the menu described things. Wrong. Which is fine, but a little compassion or gentle explanation would have been nice. My dad is 80 years old, we havent seen each other in over 6 months and he was really excited for this dinner. When we asked about the sides and the ice cream our server was so rude and she made my dad feel stupid. I also overheard our server saying similar things to a table next to us. So maybe the menu needs to be worded better? Idk.Just really disappointed. Maybe it was just an off night for everyone but I dont think Id go back. My dad used to own a restaurant back in the 80s and Im in the industry myself and we were both just really bummed over the entire experience.$106 would have been better spent somewhere else.The second star is solely for the hostess that was working last night. She was a sweetheart and rockstar.

The lighting is really dim inside.The food did not come out very hot.I have had their pasta, I have easily cooked better at home.I tried their steak it is okay, again nothing to brag about.(I didnt pay so I dont know the prices but the food was decent.)Wouldnt plan a dinner here unless invited

This was our first time here and I understand why they are closing. I ordered the steak sandwich rare which was supposed to be a filet. It was not rare and not a filet. I received a well done slab of some kind of beef that was no more than1/4 thick and had absolutely no flavor at all. Server was pleasant but service was terribly slow.

The steak sandwich (among the best anywhere!) and fried raviolis have been my favorite since I started coming her with my Grandmother as a kid. The place continues to have the charm of a family business with food to match. Plenty of room for large groups as well as intimate seating should that be desired. Really a place I love and hope is there for many more delicious meals!

Been going here for years and always get the steak sandwich. Lately and just yesterday I got the steak san. 1/2 was good meat the other half was inedible, full of grizzle/fat. I’m thoroughly disappointed. I had 2 other friends tell me the meat wasn’t like it used to be. Won’t be ordering again anytime soon. Really sad because I loved them 🥲

Just went to this establishment for my husbands Optimist Club Dinner. Fabulous attentive servers, my salmon was obviously fresh and cooked perfectly. My husband had steak and it was hi quality meat cooked perfectly. The greatgarlic bread has always been good but very oilyNot this time, the flavor was good as ever but I didn’t have oil all over my hands when I tried toeat it. Was out looking at houses in the neighborhood and stopped at the closest little place to get a drink and appetizer. The deep fried ravioli was outstanding. Homemade good cooking. Was about to walk out and I notice theres deep-fried cheesecake on the menu and of course had to order it. Let me tell you, this just took my favorite dessert and made it even better. Tasted like a fresh breakfast pastry so to speak. I cant wait to go back and have more of their items on the menu. Also our service was excellent too.

I have been here twice, the first time I was not to impressed with the burger I had. This time I tried the steak sandwich and although the serving size was decent the sandwich lacked anything special. Garlic bread had a very slight hint of garlic, the steak was really thin. The ravioli on the side needed a lot of help to be any good. Overall if you are with your grandparents or someone that can not handle any real flavor then this is the spot for you. However, if you like substance to your food and depth of flavor to excite your taste buds then do yourself a favor and look elsewhere.

We had a reserved family lunch event on a Friday. Approx 30 of us were seated in a room just for us it was perfect! Great service our waitresses very nice and attentive, great food all ate and drank and the kids even had room to run around the table set-up afterward. The children all were served an extra treat of a small bowl of ice cream, without us asking or being charged for it! We have had many of good memories here and will continue to build more for sure!

Classic well established popular old school bar and dining. Same building and same owners for decades. Menu items are freshly prepared Italian style. A wide selection of choices. Staff perfectly attentive. Restaurant building is old and just the same as always simple yet functional and it remains clean and good. It can get packed so might be good to ask for a reservation.

Went there for an early lunch. We were seated as fast as we arrived. The server showed up within minutes, since we pretty much order the steak sandwiches with ravioli every time we visit, we ordered. OK place to go for eats. Service was very good. Atmosphere is sort of like a tavern since I am told the place used to be a bar or nightclub (no windows) prior to becoming a restaurant. Steak sandwiches with garlic are like biting into a yummy cloud. Their raviolis and sauce are a wonderful, old fashioned delight. They have hearty favorites like homemade minestrone, meatloaf, pastas, lumpia, chicken cacciatore, prawns & scallops, veal, steaks, just so many delectable choices. Very nice atmosphere and wonderful service. Coffee was freshly brewed and very smooth. We were in a large group (almost 30) but our waitress was very efficient and courteous. I had the Spring Salad. It was ok, but not great. Made with iceberg lettuce, a small chicken breast, blue cheese crumbles, nuts and an oily vinaigrette dressing. My husband had the Spaghetti/Ravioli combo and said it was delicious. Both orders came with very tasty garlic bread.It was our first visit and we will definitely go again, but Ill try another entrée next time.

Second time visit ... first time was nice food and good service . This time on May 4th had a family get together . My grandson ordered the the chicken strips and it had a roach in his food... told the waiter and his expression was oh well . I should say that with a problem like this a manager should of been able to come to our table and apologize or something. We got no manager but the person ( sorry don’t remember name) that did come to table was very nice and Made good for the bug plate. Sad to say that we will not be returning to The Pheasant Club in West Sacramento no time soon or ever!

Its always a pleasure to dine here with my family and on date night. Food is reasonably priced and portions are plentiful. We enjoy the garlic steak sandwich, touchstone dinner, lasagna, spaghetti/ravioli dinner. Try the ravioli fried up. The hot mustard cocktail sauce will clear up the sinuses. Its an older building and its kept up. Look for standing specials and weekend specials. Theres also happy hour offered in the full bar area M-F. You can also order from the menu in the bar area. There are banquet areas and a private room for large parties and gatherings. Definitely a gem in West Sacramento.

My wife and father-in-law have been coming to this place for decades. Im on a diet, so I couldnt have what they enjoy steak sandwiches and their awesome fried raviolis. I had a stead salad, that was mediocre at best. I also cant have MSG (ranch dressing), and the sub dressing I chose (creamy Italian) wasnt creamy and did not taste very good. Not a good place for someone on a diet.

Twenty-five years since I was last here. Had a French dip sandwich then. Theyre still on the menu. Our waitress said it was her favorite meal. The inside of the club looked as dark as it did in the early 90s. We, however, were seated in the outdoor patio since indoor seating is temporarily unavailable. I dont remember the patio from my last visit. Another guest said the Club uses it for small music venues. In the Coronavirus era, its a great way to socially distance. Our meal consisted of calamari and lima bean appetizers, lasagna, a garlic steak sandwich, and garlic bread as entrees. The Lima beans and garlic steak sandwich were outstanding. This was way too much food for two people so dessert was out of the question though the waitress told us of tempting options. The service was excellent. Our leftovers were donated to a hungry man on a corner.

Love this place! The garlic steak sandwich is always good, as is the minestrone soup. There is also a lot of other good Italian food on the menu! This is more of a “hearty” Italian place than it is “lean and healthy”. Expect to eat a lot and be full when you leave.

I arrived about 30 minutes after the restaurant opened for slate lunch. I was told I could sit in the bar and not in the restaurant seating; not certain why?... I seated myself. I noticed that the hostess who, verbally, directed me to bar seating, personally, escorted 2 other women to a table in the bar, took their drink order and gave them menus. I was still waiting for someone to give me a drink and take my order. Aaaand, so went my late lunch. I felt like I had fallen through the crack and had become invisible to the serving staff. I was taken to lunch by a friend. Excellent choice. They have been in business since the 1930s when they were the only establishment in the area. The interior is sort of a maze, I would guess was caused by growth over the years but the service and the food was excellent. The prices were reasonable. All in all, a very pleasant experience.

First time here, Alfredo chicken was the worst Ive ever had. My waiter highly recommended it. The sauce was like milk, runny and no flavor. Wife ordered the lasagna, and it was way too rich. After the second bite I felt like I had been eating it all night. It was very pricey, we will not go back. Plus we are in our mid thirties and were surrounded by 60 and over customers. Reminded me of an upscale Moose Lodge.

This was my first time going to the Club Pheasant. I went for lunch with my coworkers and ate in the bar area, because it was very popular at this time. I remember when this place was in the middle of nowhere. Now its at the corner of food central! Talk about a boost for business. Having never been here before, I had an expectation of Old School and traditional fare. And thats pretty much what it was. The interior has clearly seen better days. Im guessing this places heyday was in the 70s, though I understand there was an addition made at the end of the last century. The food was a 3.5 and the service a 2, so that gets us to around a 3 overall.I always believe a French Dip is a good gauge of a places care for their food. Most places serve up some reheated meet in au jus that is terrible. But, Club Pheasant did a nice job. It was considerably better than what normally passes for a French Dip. My kid got some ravioli - overcooked. My wife got a steak salad. That was really tasty, too.I would definitely return to give the food another go, but I would make sure I had plenty of time. We were at our table for half an hour before anyone event brought us water or asked for our drink order.So, some good points and some not so good. Ill give it another go and possibly reassess.

Went in late My wife and I were celebrating our 10 year anniversary. This is where we had our Wedding reception. Waitress talked me out of the baked chicken cause it took 30 minutes to cook. So I ordered the cheeseburger also ordered a small spaghetti and fried ravioli. The spaghetti was cold and they forgot the ravioli. They remade the spaghetti nice and hot but when the brought out the fried ravioli looked like they stuck it in a oven for a few minutes still light colored not a bit of color to say it was fried. Very disappointed
