I went here for the first time today, because on the first Fridays they have free guest passes available to members. It was so much fun! This is my first time climbing, and I definitely would go back. They have both bouldering and rope, climbing available! In order to rope climb/belay somebody you must pass a really brief exam which gauges your comprehension on the belaying methods. The test asks you to rope in and to simulate a belay. There are shoes available for rent in the gift shop with clothes to purchase. There’s also a sauna, gym, and bathrooms on site. There is tandem parking on site with an additional lot at Red Cross nearby.

This is one of the biggest bouldering places I’ve ever been to. It can get busy at popular times, but there are still plenty of walls to climb! Would recommend

The matts in the top rope area is a disgrace. It’s worse than a third world country where you at least have a solid ground. The gym is an injury lawsuit waiting to happen. Everywhere is full of cracks where a misstep can get our angled caught and twisted. Over the past 6-12 months the floor is slowly becoming more and more covered with duct tape and cloth and other temporary measures to cover over large swaths of cracks which will just get revealed if you step on the patch. Management is busy building new gyms elsewhere while being completely unresponsive to the safety concerns of loyal paying members. Over a year ago, I bought the line that there is only one company in the world that can maintain or repair this kind of flooring and that there is a long waiting list. Now I just stopped believing them and climb elsewhere if I can help it. If you’re thinking about membership, DON’T do it until you see the floor repaired or be prepared to live with the physical hazard for a long time! We now try to put up with the longer commute whenever we are able in order to climb at the Post where the matts are nice and new.

This gym is beautiful. Great routes, great atmosphere, and such a cool group of people climbing every time Ive been. The two visits I made this week(visiting from out of town) I had down right the worst check-in experience. Very rude and short tempered check-in staff. During my tie-in test I was spoken to in a way that never made me feel so small or like I belonged somewhere less. This gyms saving grace was the yoga instructor Breanna. She was so kind to everyone and truly respected by the community. Thanks for having me, had an okay time

Super fun place to take the kids or go as an adult. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Everyone is really nice. It has every level of climbing, very basic to advanced climbs. They have climbing shoes (required) if you don’t have them for rent. Very affordable for just the day or if your looking at doing a monthly membership. Parking lot is good size, but get full pretty quickly.

One of my favorite gyms of all time. as a beginner climber i managed to level up after a year of time at this gym. the community is top notch and a place to meet friends and other active people. genuinely such an amazing space with so many activities. the sauna is top notch and is worth the money alone. the membership is reasonable if you have an active gym life. highly recommend to beginners and to high level climbers. i love bouldering but there is ropes as well.

This is the second gym Ive had a subscription for in my life, the first one not being in California, so I dont have a ton to compare to but so far I really love this one.1. The price is actually QUITE reasonable if you look at everything that is included in the membership. Unlimited climbing, small but mighty gym on 2nd floor, a big yoga studio that also holds multiple daily classes (both yoga and conditioning/strength, etc), training wall with variety of holds and more weights, pull up bars, etc, dressing room with lots of lockers, showers, and a dry sauna for each gendered dressing room, fresh towels, bandaids, general female care in the bathroom. Also two types of free passes and $10 off for your guests outside the free passes used any time. This is nowhere near what I have gotten or have seen in other gyms before. LA fitness studio/gym prices are also generally higher or the same.2. Yes the floor mats do have splits/cracks and are patched up but that personally has never bothered me. The gym is not brand new and has some wear and tear. However brand new climbing places generally have a brand new and quite steep price point so I am not complaining.3. Even during the busiest times I havent had trouble finding a route to climb, both top rope and bouldering. Large groups of people do hang out in groups, but the active climbers themselves are not on top of each other. Another reason to love climbing, its a social event as much as its a great work out.I give it 5 stars for the price, the variety of things included in the membership from climbing to fitness classes to sauna and free use of all facilities in general, plus it is super close to me so convenience. If the membership was more expensive I would be leaving a very different review but I am happy with the value I get.

The problems with Cliffs are mostly about externalities.West LA is desperately demanding more climbing gyms but Cliffs has the best location, which means basically everyone goes to it. The gym gets incredibly crowded on weeknights, to the point where its hard to really get a good session or work a problem. Not to gatekeep, but you also hit a critical mass of people who are new to climbing and dont fully understand the risks of their behavior (choosing to climb close to others, walking near fall zones, etc), making it pretty dangerous unless you actively keep your distance. The parking also cant really support the amount of people in the area, so Ive taken to just parking 1-2 blocks away in places I know arent popular (at least not yet, its getting worse every year). You used to be able to get some good climbing in starting 2 hours before close, but everyone just started pushing their climbing sessions back later to deal with the overcrowding and so that tactic doesnt work anymore. On off-peak hours its a great gym. Theres plenty of boulders, they set on a regular schedule, and the problems are good. The setting quality has gotten better lately. They sometimes fall behind on setting, so if you run out of problems Id recommend just going to Sender One or LA Boulders for a session to tide you over.Just keep in mind that during peak hours youll need to work around the fact that Cliffs has as many people in it as a gym 1.5-2x its size ought to have.

It feels like a hybrid of Hollywood Boulders and the Post. Less open than the post but it has a giant table and overall is better spaced out.The restroom is the baseline of what i would consider acceptable. Personally Id want to do better for my own business but its not bad enough to complain, especially for how busy it is. Be warned because at Hollywood the restroom gets overloaded and the water gets cold; even the sinks with a trickle coming out. Dont expect the same quality at all touchstone gyms. Technically the Post has the best restroom, but under heavy use it still has air quality issues and is barely better than Cliffs of ID.I highly recommend ID, especially if you can avoid the rush where its easily the top touchstone gym ive seen so far.

Incredible gym. Great routes. New routes every week.Bouldering & lead/top roping, no auto belays.40 degree Moonboard and spray wall.Free yoga/fitness classes.Reasonably priced for a gym in LA. (~100 usd per mo)A couple of downsides.1. Weight room is small.2. Feels even smaller when its super crowded, which is every weekday evening. Parking can get incredibly frustrating when coming on a weekday evening between 6-9 pm ish.
