2023-10-25 05:42:38Dr. Chang, in my opinion, is an ABSOLUTE JERK. A veterinary clinic would be a better choice than this pompous, embarrassment of a Dr. I was spared from possible disaster and tipped off to what they were doing, and my vision today is restored by a truly honest and skilled Dr. Now, when my eyes are examined Drs, always marvel at how perfect the cataract lenses are placed and the quality of the lens I selected. Im one of the lucky ones, I bowed out from Dr. Ego, SAVING THOUSANDS OF $, and I wont be needing a seeing eye dog ! If you value your sight, GET A SECOND OPINION beforehand, and youll be one of the lucky ones, too. If they remake the Bond movie, Chang would be the perfect DR. NO !

2023-04-19 17:33:43I had cataract surgery a little over a year ago. As I write this I am in the waiting room of the Stanford eye institute. Although my vision is pretty good - probably even better than I thought it would be- I have had terrible side effects. My eyelashes fell out. My eyelids are swollen. My eyes are irritated and sore all the time. If I look suddenly to the side blood vessels pop and my eyes are bright red.Dr Changs office says this is not what they deal with and told me it was not associated with the surgery. I was fine before this.I’ve seen several Drs and none can say what’s wrong. Just know that cataract surgery can have complications and they aren’t nothing. I would not have had this surgery if I knew this would be the outcome.*** after seeing the Dr. at Stanford eye clinic I was prescribed blood tears made by a company called Vital Tears. It is drops made from your own blood to reduce inflammation and help heal your eyes. I urge anyone who has had eye discomfort to check them out. It is the only thing that has helped me and most people have never heard about them!

2022-03-30 23:21:34I would encourage anyone to look harder for a doctor to fix your cataracts. I should have known that Dr. Chang wasn’t the right doctor. He had no interest in my questions or concerns and he lets you know he is the smartest person in the building. He has lots of certificates and awards letting everyone know how good he is but I have been terribly disappointed with my results. The office called the day before my follow appointment and said that the doctor had jury duty. I live in Monterey and had to take time off to get there.Again no concern for anyone but themselves.I have found a doctor that listens and mentored under doctor Chang. I’ve had several friends that have had the same procedure and they are thrilled with their results .

2021-09-11 22:40:56I had cataract surgery 2 days ago and had a remarkably great experience. The surgery center staff was professional and comforting in a perfectly clean and up to date facility. I was impressed with Dr. Chang. He is a highly competent surgeon and was warm and pleasant throughout the process. My result so far is excellent. I cannot wait to have the cataract in my other eye removed!!!

2018-02-28 00:54:13Dr. Chang and his team were efficient and kind. Over the course of two weeks I had cataracts in both eyes replaced with crystal clear lenses. As a cataract specialist, Dr. Chang has a highly organized and optimized process; from evaluation to consultation to surgery and recovery.Others have commented on his bed-side manner which was less important to me than his technical and surgical skills. In this case, being just a number pays off in lowered risk, faster surgery, with fast recover times. His website and published papers address all aspects of his process including a detailed video of the surgery. Doing homework in advanced of your visit should address most if not all of your questions.I highly recommend Dr. Chang.

2016-01-29 23:50:49My primary physician, whose judgment I trust, recommended Dr. Chang for my cataract surgery. I learned at my first appointment that the astigmatism in my left eye could be corrected during the surgery but that I would have to pay for the $1500 refinement because health insurance does not cover it. Dr. Chang gave me a booklet he had written for his patients that explained the upcoming surgery clearly. He was also careful to explain that the surgery includes some margin of error. At 71, I have undergone a fair number of surgical procedures, large and small. I have to say that this one went flawlessly. Dr. Chang and his support team worked perfectly together. Dr. Chang engineered my replacement lens to enable me to see at distance and still read on computer, no mean trick. For the first time in my life, I have real depth perception due to the astigmatism correction, and I am pleased with the range of vision I have in the operated on eye.Given my experience with his group and his surgical mastery, I would recommend Dr. Chang to anyone needing eye surgery, without reservation.

2018-12-05 19:46:50Dr Chang is fantastic! his office staff are efficient, personable and love their jobs. Many speak of the wonderful experience of working with Dr Chang. Interesting with not for. The office runs smoothly with no bickering or internal tensions.Dr Chang is a skilled physician and a great surgeon. One cataract down; one to go. I highly recommend Dr Chang; received his name as a recommendation from a friend with eye issues.

2022-06-02 20:06:21I had my right eye operated by Dr. Chang a few month ago. I see a lot of specks (floaters) on the operated eye about a month after the surgery. I called Dr. Changs office and was told the symptom is irrelevant from the surgery, but age related. I just wonder how many patients of Dr. Chang generated this symptom after the surgery.

2017-08-05 21:33:07My wife and I have worked as professionals in hospitals for 25 years and have observed the bedside manner of a great many doctors with their patients. We both agreed that Dr. Chang’s bedside manner on July 28, 2017 was the worst we have ever seen. My ophthalmologist in Fairfield, CA told me in March 2017 that I had mild-moderate cataract in both eyes. When I asked her about surgical options, she told me that my eyes were a more complex case because one eye does fairly well for distance and the other for near vision. When I asked her several questions, she suggested I consult with one of her former professors at UC San Francisco, a leading authority on cataract surgery, Dr. David Chang. So I made an appointment and we drove 80 miles and paid $375 dollars out of pocket (he is not in my insurance network). My eyes were tested by his staff and then my wife and I (she accompanied me) met with Dr. Chang. He did provide much general information: different zones of vision; that he can choose from 60 degrees of replacement lenses; that he works on the eye with the farthest zone first; that he felt I had an “early” cataract; that a single focus lens is the best option for someone sensitive to change; that cataract surgery is not exact but that he is better than other surgeons at hitting the target. The problem was that he never let me explain why I was seeking a second opinion and, from the moment he walked into the room, every time I attempted to tell him why I came to see him or had a question, he responded, “let me talk” and did so with obvious anger and annoyance. At the end of the approximately 15 minute session (during which several times he said: “it’s going to take me more time, but let me tell you again”), he said, “I’ve tried my best” and got up signaling that the meeting was over. Just prior to meeting Dr. Chang, his staff gave me a book he co-wrote, “Cataracts: A Patient’s Guide to Treatment.” On page 49 of that book, it says: “When you meet with the surgeon, it is important that he or she makes you feel comfortable. You should be able to ask questions...” I fully agree with this statement. And that is why I would never choose Dr. Chang to be my surgeon.

2016-08-23 22:37:10Dr Chang is awesome. Great surgeon who performed a very technically difficult cataract surgery, due to my eye anatomy; perfect results. I find his bedside manner engaging.I wouldnt think of going anywhere else.
