This has been a one stop shop for me. I have used this store to build various PCs over the years and have had 0 issues. I haven’t had any compatibility issues with parts, but we have had Central Computers build them all on site after purchasing the parts. I am very happy with the knowledge of the staff, each build has been better than the last one.I have recently moved from the area but I still return to this store because their unmatched expertise.

Nice people, very knowledgeable and friendly. This place has everything that you might need to satisfy your Hi-Tech needs. I was blown away by all the upgrades, my first computer was a TRS-80 Model 1.. thats how old that I am.. I bought a new camera for my office computer, easy to install and works better than advertised. The sales guy was great.

Central Computers is a resilient computer parts store. Other retailers like Frys Electronics and Surplus Computers went bust and somehow Central Computers survived. I love how I can walk into a store and get the items right there and find stuff I didnt know I needed. (i.e. RGB cases/fans/keybards) It is not possible to hear how loud a fan is or how much air is pushed by a 200mm fan online. The prices here are competitive and they have stuff in-stock where they are sold out online. For example, I saw a 6GHz i9-13900KS 24 core CPU in stock. Some stuff like a 5.7 GHz Ryzen 9 7950x 16 core is $590 at Central Computer but is only $542 on Amazon. But if you buy the CPU and a motherboard at Central, they will take -$80 off the CPU and -$35 off the motherboard (-$105 total.) Not bad at all. If something screwed up on my computer, Ive always had a positive connotation with Central Computers and their employees because I can fix it that day without delays. Dont have to wait for parts to arrive online. Love the selection of cat6 cables. Good job Central Computers!

I had a fully custom built gaming PC built here for a great price. People here are friendly, prices are fair, the selection is awesome, and you can get basically anything you need computer wise here.They sell pre-built custom gaming PCs, graphic cards, and basically anything you can think of for a computer. They have an in-house tech shop for repairs as well. Keyboards, large monitor selection, cleaning supplies, peripherals, the selection is huge. I like to think of this place like a smaller and more local “micro center”

Good selection of pretty much everything regarding PC components ( motherboards, RAM, storage, graphics cards, cases and networking ). Lately I see a lot of customers open new items in the store and drop them back on the shelf or take out RGB controllers out of the Corsair fan packs, not really nice behavior especially if you want a business to succeed and keep it afloat.

Central Computers has reasonable prices, fast shipping, and excellent communication. I purchased a highly sought graphics card from their web store (cheaper than online-only retailers) and had it at my door three days later (I do not live in CA). The GPU included a bundled game from AMD, and when I found the redemption code for the game didn’t work, I emailed Central Computers, and a representative got back to me within minutes with an updated code. I will absolutely be using Central Computers for future hardware needs!

I went here 2023 for the black friday sale to buy parts for a new water cooled computer I was building. The people were friendly, but ultimately half the fittings the employee chose for me were the wrong size and then the EMPLOYEE also grabbed parts that werent right, I asked for a pump reservoir combo and he grabbed a reservior body.Now, if the return process had been easy I wouldnt have minded, but the guy helping me not only gave me mismatched fittings, he also was like YOU need to be careful when picking parts man it can be confusing.probably the most infuriating thing someone has ever said to me considering i literally came to the store for help and an EMPLOYEE was the one who picked the parts out for me. And then because the sale had ended I ended up having to pay more money for equivalent parts AND on top fo that he gave me mismatched fittings that looked nothing like the ones I had originally purchased.Bottomline, dont come here for help if youre doing watercooling, not only do they have very limited options but the staff really doesnt know what theyre doing.

You can get all the parts at Central Computers to build a gaming pc for a very reasonable price. You can even have them assemble it for you, but if you’re ambitious and want to try building your first PC knowing absolutely nothing, do it!! Because when you get stuck like I did, you can lug your new build back here to their tech shop and they can probably instantly spot what’s wrong.Shoutout to Ali for helping me find all the parts to build a beautiful white PC and to the kind tech support for helping me when I got stuck. :-)

Also other related stuff like network cables (and crimping tools, etc.), keyboards (pretty extensive options with different switches, etc.), and monitors.They also have other stuff like 3d printing gear and stuff for phones (like USBC accessories).They fit a lot in a not super large store. If youre looking for computer stuff, definitely stop by here before going to a big name place!

Pay for $75 to ordered the rush service on the service desk but they’ve tested it for 10min and left my pc the entire afternoon on the desk and did not working on it. Don’t worth the rush service money at all plus very bad attitude.Update: the person that did the initial diagnostic actually got the wrong root cause. It’s an ssd issue but he suggested replace the whole motherboard. Anyways on the second day the issue is finally correctly diagnosed by another engineer Bradley. Make sure you looking for him when doing repairs here.

I like the store and that theyre local with a good variety of items in stock, but their return policy can be difficult, especially with defective items.I bought something on July 4th, it was defective, and I subsequently exchanged it on July 26th. Since then, the new replacement mostly worked fine, but there was an issue, and the manufacturer approved an RMA. Its now August 24th and they dont want to take it back. The receipt policy says 30 days for defective items. The in-store staff says this 30 days only applies from original purchase.Now Im on my own to go through the manufacturer and be without my product for 2 weeks. I understand its tough for small shops, but this policy isnt exactly clear, so Im disappointed. For products that have a higher risk of not functioning correctly, one might want to purchase from a larger vendor to have easier returns.

This is your to go place for all computers repair with reasonable price and courteous, professional service, not profit-motivated!Initially, I stopped by ClickAway whichs right nearby me in the area with my computer (minor issue in starting), yet this place tried to charge me a lot ($99) just for diagnosis, so I thought theyre being greedy. Then drove extra miles to Central Computers, met this great guy named Nathan at the tech service department, who after learning my computer with just a pity, minor issue in starting; Nathan performed a courtesy service on my PC, free of charge.... and though they dont have a simple new part for my old PC, but it still works for continuous usage.After this, I have a positive first impression about this Central Computers, and highly recommend this place for reasonable price and sincere service vs that the other place!

Buyer be aware: 15% restocking fee.If you are looking for cheap stuff like usb cables / power banks, this is a good place to go.If you are looking for some non-cheap regrettable purchases, look elsewhere with good return policies. EVERTHING you bought here has a 15% restocking fee even it is unopened. Even the product has issues they will deny it and still asking for the 15% restocking fee, now matter how many stuff you have bought from them before.

Great experience working with these guys, they know their stuff and are fast!I needed to upgrade my motherboard bios to support a new gen cpu, but it was being all sorts of picky about USBs and not updating. The technician was able to quickly resolve the issue with donor parts and flashing from within the bios. Really happy with my experience with them!

I really want to show all my appreciation to the technician Bradley at Central Computers Sunnyvale store. I requested a rush service for installing the GPU and managing the cables for my brand new PC. Bradley showed extremely high efficiency and expertise and resolved all the problems of my PC overnight. He also did multiple thorough tests for my device to make sure everything went well. And he went through everything I needed to be aware of during the handoff extremely patiently. Don’t know what these guys are playing at but saw the display model, one someone was buying with a build as well as several more sitting in the back.. refusal to sell separately... as well as a higher price tag than normal on everything you buy to increase sales price....what kind of business model is this? Decent selection esp for a small store. Consumer friendly return policy that I used once and was satisfied. They have a good selection of desirable GPUs. This is probably one of the only few computer stores left in the bay area now that Frys and Microcenter are gone. They pretty much have everything you need to build a PC. I do tire of helping friends build PCs so Im glad I can recommend people to get their PCS built here. Custom built is typically better than prebuilt!They even have custom mechanical keyboards and Ender 3D printing parts!Today I was greeted out by an employee, Ali who helped me find everything I was looking for to upgrade a friends PC. I felt like he was able to help me get a second, fair and unbiased, opinion between two products I was debating on as well. This to me tells me the store cares about the customer so I just wanted to write this review to give Ali a shout out. Thanks bro!

They diagnosed my desktop PC Problem to be a power supply issue - that the power supply failed spec. Was impressed by how fast they could cater to it. It is possible that there was not a high customer load on that day but nonetheless they made time for it

It was my first time in one of their stores. I was excited to check it out. Unfortunately, I was not asked if I needed help for over 20 minutes. There were plenty of employees there that could have asked. Maybe even a have you been helped or well be with you a minute. Anything really to simply acknowledge the presence of a customer. 2 stars for a decent inventory and prices. Minus three stars for POOR customer service and messy aisles with boxes and overstock. Could have been a positive experience. I was prepared to buy many components for my daughters birthday build. Drove over an hour and half and went home spending $0! I have no need to ever go back. I can do all the research and buying online. Shameful.

They found out that the CPU was defective and because I bought it from them they were able to help me do an exchange at no extra cost (other than the $29 diagnostic fee). Just had to share great fast repair at Central Computers in Sunnyvale on Lawrence... I have an older HP Pavillion Desktop PC running Windows 7 Home Pro, and fan quit working and Ethernet card was overheating and cutting out. Worried about having to finally replace, with days of misery to port onto new PC. Expected to drop off, wait a few days and hope.. Within 30 minutes of walking into the store, PC was cleaned, temp sensor gel reapplied, drivers updated and all was working well and I was back out the door. Way better day than I was expecting and price ($29.95) incredible bargain.

Shout out to the Sunnyvale store, especially Jose.I was searching and scouring to find the Pixel Universe keycap set for my Keychron K10. I had looked around Google multiple times and no luck unless I was to have it shipped from Australia or South Korea with higher than MSRP prices and shipping costs that were half the price of the set.Then suddenly Central Computers Sunnyvale enters the chat. I find the set on the site showing 1 in inventory across all of the stores, but I couldn’t place the order online (presumably bc of the low inventory that they had).Breaking out of my Xennial mold I actually picked up the phone and called the Sunnyvale store. Their amazing employee, Jose, answers the phone. He not only humors me and calls the web store but he goes the extra mile to call me back twice with progress reports. In the end, I scored the keycap set and Jose scored a special place in my heart. He’s going places with that top notch customer service mentality. Keep it up, Jose.

Great place to buy parts for your next build. I recently built a new PC here and the prices were very competitive even against bigger stores and online retailers. Its nice to be able to get almost everything at one shop. I accidentally bought a CPU cooler that I didnt need and I ended up returning that - no problems at all with the return process (the CPU itself came with a very decent one - the Wraith Prism - that was more than enough since Im not planning on overclocking) If youre using pcpartpicker to plan your next build, chances are they have most if not all the parts so its worthwhile to check them out.

Have shopped at this store for years. I have always been impressed with the service and selection of hardware. I went in to the store today to upgrade to a new graphics card. I was told that graphics cards could only be purchased if I was to build a whole new computer. Note: the graphics card I was looking at had a price tag over 500.00. This product was also marked for sale but denied when requested. None the less, I found it extremely odd that I was denied purchase of an item costing this much. Called another location which told me this was also the case. Despite my intentions of supporting a local business I inevitably went online and ordered a graphics card of equal specs for 400.00. Not really sure what kind of business model this store is following but it definitely has impacted my view on this store and will influence my purchasing choices in the future.

This store is an authorized Acer Computer service center. I have a Nitro 5 gaming laptop w/a 17 monitor. I went there to have my RAM memory increased. They opened up the laptop carefully, swapped the RAM in, made sure the machine ran okay and returned my laptop. They only charged my $15 dollars! Inexpensive! Highly recommended.

I like Central computers because the selection is wide enough that I can usually find exactly what Im looking for. I dont have to make the longer trek to Frys and I can get in and out of Central Computers quickly. They have a nice website and I can check to see if they carry the item Im looking for. This stores workers have been quite willing to check the shelf and see if the item I need is in inventory. They offer to hold item at the desk and I can quickly pick up my item and pay for it. I like this level of service.

Only thing is, prices are rather inflated on parts compared to many retailers. Im not even talking about gpu, parts in general are 15% higher than amazon. Far superior to the Santa Clara location. No hour-long line to get in, but still not perfect. They advertise We beat Amazon! in big bold print on their billboards and website, but for an identical model part thats $5 cheaper on Amazon, they could only take it down $4 so I still pay more than Amazon for shopping there (I dont have Prime, so with free shipping, it just takes longer to get it cheaper). And its not straightforward to bring up, either... Awkward as I show them the Amazon page (I had already pulled up) for the part, and the cashier has to get approval and take a lot of time to reduce the price to STILL not actually beat Amazon. Both things I bought were higher prices than Amazon, but I didnt want to deal with the $1 difference on the other.They really need a more streamlined process to take those price-match scenarios and use it to learn competitive pricing.Frustrated that Central basically has a monopoly on computer stuff in the bay area. Frys is coming back but despite their size, not a lot of variety of modern things.

Great place for getting PC/electronics parts you need, and some you didnt even think you did!Staff was very attentive and knowledgeable, and when they didnt have an answer they were quick to look it up from a trusted source.The store itself, while smaller than some big names out there, has almost everything you could ask for PC part wise.I gave a rating of four stars due to not price matching and having a restocking fee; I understand no price matching, due to their very competitive pricing, but a restocking fee on certain items? Not something seen at most stores anymore.Great store nonetheless. I will be doing most of my PC part shopping here from now on!

Huge lifesavers when my MSI motherboard refused to BIOS flashback with any of my USB drives! The service technician benched my motherboard and used a service CPU to quickly flash from within BIOS instead, saving me a huge headache shopping around for drives the motherboard would be happy with.

The staff at this location are so helpful and knowledgeable. I was trying to get the necessary attachments to hook up a shared screen and they actually walked with me to the aisle where the items were stocked and showed me all the possible configurations I could go with... I honestly have never gotten so much assistance in any computer store. Their inventory is pretty extensive as well. Perfect for the person who is not as computer or electronic saavy... Central Computer has in general great reviews and I am probably an unlucky customer.I have contracted them to replace a laptop touchscreen. They charge for diagnostic and they ask 50% of the money upfront. Thats OK. I collected the laptop but the screen didnt turn ON. They took it under warranty. The second time, the touchscreen (which does not meet the original part quality standard) did not work... They again took it under warranty... This story started 6months ago and is not finished yet.They have been fair so far, and I may adjust this review when this is fully resolved.

Good selections of electronics, especially if it is phone/tablet/PC/servers related. Not as big as Frys but have better selections. Also good place to get server related things which Frys does not have. It is the place for DIYers. Not a lot of complete systems or laptop. You need to go to either Costcos or Frys for that.

Ive been a customer of Central Computers since the late 90s when people were in the craze of building their own personal Computers, trying to build the fastest gaming rigs and also for some to use in college. The prices may appear a tid pricier now in comparison with online retailers but reasonable if you want something without having to wait an extra day or two for shipping. Great place to grab anything computer related HW in case of emergencies. People here are friendly and helpful. Im glad to have a store in my own home town.

I brought my custom pc here that I recently built using used parts from my friends old rig. The problem was it would not POST or get any visuals. I paid $30 for a diagnostic and the turnaround turn was very fast. I was already called on my phone one and half hours later. Ryan determined that my defective RAM was causing the issue and I would need a replacement. After that, my computer was up and running again. Some of the staff are knowledgeable, but not as impressively as the staff at the Santa Clara store.Theyll build a computer for you with the parts you but if you dont have time to do it yourself. But stay away from their laptop repair service. A friend had a bad experience — they held on to her laptop for almost a week, did nothing to fix it, and charged her $50 to give it back.

I just spent $1,500 to build a new computer. When it came to the GPU I asked the salesman if there was a difference between the one in my hand and another brand same model but $150 more and Im willing to spend the extra. He said no difference, it just has an extra fan. I go home, do some reading and found its a MUCH better one hence the price. So I go back in and ask to exchange the GPU (which was still brand new, unopened), explained that the prior salesman gave me bad information and Id like the better one. Their response: Im sorry, we cant do that because the GTX 3070s are in short supply due to crypto. Eh? So, I cant exchange one brand new sealed 3070, give you even more money for the other 3070 that you have just as many in stock of due to crypto? THEY ARE BOTH 3070s!! The logic makes absolutely no sense. If I could give a zero, I absolutely would. I brought my laptop in because I accidentally spilled water on it while saving a kitten from a burning building (no, I was just dumb). I knew I ended up shorting something, and that I was going to have a hard time sourcing the parts. One of Central Computers tenets of conducting business is training their technical staff to also handle sales, so that they can keep costs low, and you really just end up with a bunch of techs who dont know how to properly interact with customers and set expectations.I was quoted a 7-9 day turnaround for my system because it would have to be sent to an offsite repair house. That time came and went, and no one had so much as powered on my system. I called every other day 6 or 7 times and received the constant well we dont have any updates from our repair house. I continued to hound and badger them until they were finally able to tell me that the motherboard was fried and they would have to order a new one. Well then the first motherboard came in non-functional so they had to order a new one. At this point, Im getting pretty upset, because theyve had the system twice as long as they quoted me.It gets better. Because I use Google Chrome, I can sync my web searches across my multiple devices, and because I didnt sign out of my laptops Chrome session before it crashed, I was able to see that the techs servicing my system were looking at Vietnamese blogs and listening to Frank Oceans new album. Talk about unprofessional! I worked IT for years, and I never used a users system for personal use.I eventually got my system back, one day shy of a month later. Beyond angry, the manager only knocked $80 off my repair, so I still ended up paying $329 for a motherboard and a month of lost productivity. Absolutely avoid this place.

Has 2 major things going for it that make it different than Frys, or a BestBuy, etc. and that is:1. Lots of generic brand peripherals, cables, ..., that are just as good (for most uses) as the big names like Logitech or Monster, but at a much cheaper price2. Many harder to find, even esoteric bits&pieces like tablet and phone mounts, and especially odd connectors and cables (example: non-standard usb cables for some older cameras, PSU splitter cables, many hard drive interface adapters...)and as a bonus, a growing selection of maker parts like Arduinos, bare sensors, small robotics parts, Raspberry Pi kits.main negative at this point is that their online site doesnt match well with what they have in store. I was here to purchase a graphics card after I missed 3080ti and they told to me buy a whole system which I already knew it since I read it from the website. I chose CPU, MOBO, RAM, SSD, CASE, PSU, GPU. But they force me to choose the OS and pay for the installation fee which is written as an optional in their website. To report this, I asked him to send me an email with explaining what happened as an evident to show this situation. Then suddenly he sold me parts with saying I dont want to argue with you anymore. I dont know what did I wrong. I followed their rules and I just dont want to buy Windows 10 and installation ( I will use other OS and I built more than 50 computers so far. ), since they are not required in the description of their own website. As a result, I could get a RTX 3080 at a nice price ($1200+tax), but I probably not to visit their store again especially this location.In addition, I purchased AMD cpu last month (around 3 weeks ago) and asked them to count this cpu as a system bundle showing them a receipt, but they answered NO. But after I returned home, I could find followings in FAQ section What if I bought those components recently from Central Computers? if you have purchased parts from the above categories from Central Computers within the last month, those parts can count towards this bundle. You will need to provide proof of purchase when you come in. There are several minor issues including the attitude, but they are minor.They might have a good deal and the real stock of GPU, but they are not buyer friendly.
