I ordered custom plates a year and a half ago. Ive been there four times since to inquire on their status. Today was the fourth time. The clerk told me if I dont have them in three months, come back again. I said I dont want to come back again - I want my plates. She said but theyre really cool plates. 😏

I highly recommend getting in line online before heading to the office. They have line management down to a science and it really is hard to mess up. Be there when youre supposed to be with your documents and youre good to go.

My license was almost suspended due to a declined payment. I surrendered my DL, was issued a paper license, took a new photo and a driver test. 60 days later no new DL in the mail. I called to find out it was on hold because “you never surrendered your license”Then how did I get a paper license? I paid a $77 fee and a $45 fee but when I called they asked about a $55 fee. I’m so confused- what happened when I gave the lady my license? Now I have to go back and explain all of this and probably pay another fee.

The wait here is the worse. (May 2024)Got here at 10:20am and waited till 3:15pm just to get a replacement DL.So many people come here from outside the area for some reason. In past years it was quick and efficient but these past 5+ years it takes forever.

As far as DMVs go, its exactly as youd expect. If you get there before opening, you usually dont have to wait long, but from the moment they open until closing, you can expect a 1-2 hour wait.Every time Ive been here, Ive been helped well, however on a recent visit, there was a man more focused on his portable speaker than helping the person at his counter.

I arrived at the Carmichael DMV for Driver License renewal at about 4:20 PM on Friday, Dec 8th. Was directed to a room behind me where I was able to update all the personal information that appears on a driver license. I checked my phone and saw that I needed to go to window #20 for assistance. I passed the eye exam, paid for my license renewal and was directed to another window where finally, after 17 years of automatic driver license renewals, I was so glad to have a current picture taken. With each previous automatic renewal my skin tone would appear more and more reddish until I finally looked as though I had been baked for too long at a tanning salon. All in all, this was a rare DMV visit where all tasks were completed quickly and I was out the door 40 minutes after I arrived. Thank you, Carmichael DMV!

I only give 2 stars because the supervisor and the first gentleman that helped me in the morning tried hard to help me. However Mai seemed less than knowledgeable and willing to help me with my out of state transfer that somehow a flag, mind you I only moved here 1 week ago. I was even handed someone elses paperwork at one point. This was my 3rd trip in after twice in Roseville which got me nowhere. I now have to come back for more inspections on Monday since there were so many people today and since it was past 5pm and the inspections stop at 5 pm. This all after my morning appointment at 8:20 was unable to be complete and required to return at 1:45 because I needed to leave for my smog inspection that is done off site. Also they make everyone takes a written test entering state and I didnt know so that was shocking. My suggestion is bring food, drink extra cell battery, headphones etc to keep self care up. That amount of frustration is hard on anyone.

The girl from the 5th window, the department coordinator, treated me very unkindly, because I didn’t know the language and their rules for submitting documents, and I can’t know this, since this was the first time I addressed this issue, I just wanted to pass the theory. That’s how to handle it. being disrespectful to a client is incompetent, especially since it is punishable by law in California. The mood is spoiled both about the office and about the city as a whole.

I went in today to take my permit test and when i went in the little room to make my application the white lady was very rude with attitude. Didn’t help unless you asked. She got mad at me because I asked for help not knowing what thing to push on the computer cause it was my first time. She said “that’s not the one you push!” Very rudely and rolled her eyes at me like I was dumb. I just told her I didn’t know. She was irritated at everyone even if we were nice. But I did notice when it was only white people that needed help she was nice . So she seemed very racist. When i went back in to take my test she was still there and 2 other people, those two black people were very nice and helping everyone that came in, also noticed since her coworkers were there she was all giggly with them and was very 2 faced now that they were there. But that one lady just made my experience even worse and made me have very bad anxiety. I really wish I asked for her name to write it down but oh well, you’ll know who I’m talking about when you see her.

The manager her first name is Emily and wouldn’t give me her last name. She wears glasses and claims she is a manager here at the Carmichael DMV. She’s by far the most rude person I ever met. I understand the dmv and how hectic it is but they made a mistake on my license and never contacted me. Waited 2 months for new ID. Finally called customer service and spoke with a manager and was told to come in and talk to the manager. Emily is by far the worst customer service and should definitely not be a manager, she shouldn’t have a job here if she hates her job and treated customers horrible. Especially as a manager, I will not be coming back to the DMV just because of her. Worst customer service from a manager ever. Doesn’t deserve her job

Some Department this is. Back in June 30th of 2022, doing some of the processes and tests was not too bad, but the workers were the real ones! Some of the ladies were condescending! Basically telling me the same thing that other helpful people told me to spite me. One of them was even focused on her phone with cat pictures on display, disrespecting my presence, being on edge when telling me to step over here or stay over there, ignoring my gratitude and walking away, eyes on her phone, even when I said thank you for her service. No wonder it has a 3.3 on Google reviews.

This place is doing the best that they can for the circumstances. Bring a friend/kid to hold your place if the restroom is needed or you cant stand for 4 hours. Also bring water and or a snack you will be waiting for 3 hours to receive your ticket for the line que. They have to push a lot of documents from a ton of people, while navigating furloughs (less people to do the same amount of work) due to the budget deficit, real ID requirements and deadlines, corona virus limitations, and just the overall masses that have to show up in person to do thier business. That being said they could make the process easier for the consumer such as sign boards above indicating what line does what there were at least 4 lines of not 5 that were mot marked and no-one knew where to go creating a cluster and a lot of angry people! I kid you not the line was wrapped around the building.

DMV employee Mia was extremely rude and incompetent when it came to processing paperwork that had everything required to obtain a title. Per the licensed VIN Verifyer I hired to verify the VIN, Mia was just lazy and opted to not do the paperwork by advising I needed to do additional steps to satisfy DMV. I highly recommend you find a different location to do your DMV related paperwork as this place will do nothing but waste your time.Update: Went to Placerville DMV after also obtaining a VIN verification from CHP. Awesome staff at Placerville said there was absolutely nothing wrong with the original paperwork and did not need the paperwork from CHP. They apologized on behalf of Carmichael DMV and said it agreed it was pure laziness on Mia’s part.

Came to this location with appointment for 9 am, the staff who checked me in sent me to a window fordocuments check. The lady who checked documents gave a nonappointment number. I didnt realize until I went to the window after an hour and a half later. Spoke to supervisor who informed that the person made a mistake . If you come with appointment time make sure your wait is not long. The Lady who checksdocuments has only one job to do, check papers and issue number. She managed to screw that up.

This dmv is getto and terrible. Its like a mental institution. The employees are rude to there elders . God forebid you ask them a guestion and get an attitude back. The employees all need to take a class how to be Compassionate and patient. Its not like everybody knows what to do. I have caught the younger staff giving attitude and rudeness to the elderly and people with accents. Even the security guard agrees with me....so sad! Dont come here unless you like to be treated as if your in prison. I know I worked in one! Also they have a man speaking the word of God and questions you about God like a bully. This place is off there rocker!!

For a CA DMV I thought this was a pleasant experience. The staff was very kind, the waits werent long for what I was there to do, the bathrooms were clean the couple mornings I was there and I didnt walk away feeling unseen :) Thanks to the workers there for keeping all experiences positive, even when the guest werent so nice.

The people are seriously no help at all, they dont seem to know how to explain anything to you or at least dont want to. They had me going back and forth even after telling them I already have filled out my DL application and I just made an appt to take my permit test(never even took the test). The women upfront is also really lacking in customer service skills, if you hate working with a lot of people i suggest quitting.

The worst customer service from Kandiza at least is the name they told me. I went to get a Real ID with my 65-year-old mom. This “lady” threw the documents at the window 5 on April,4,2023. Totally disrespectful and rude. Since we arrived she had a horrible attitude. She didn’t greet or anything. She did not want to help us, or seek solutions. So I decided to go to another window and when she saw us, she went over and told the person not to help us because she had already said no. However, I told them that I wanted to speak to the manager. To conclude, people like her shouldn’t be working.!!!!

If I could give this place negative stars, I would. I renewed my DL last month and the monkey behind the counter pushing buttons, did not send my vision test through. The way some employees handle the driving test is poor. The same person is testing me. The testing method is not appropriate. He shows no help on the pretext of language. One question and he says you are a failure, what is this and I feel frustrated and he will not get in the car next time. I dont like testing in this place.

By far the worst DMV Ive been to. They changed their call order system from numeric to your initial with the last 4 digits of your phone. You have no clue when youll be called as there is no longer any order you can follow. You need stare at the screen non stop to hopefully not miss your (AZ1234) call ID. After waiting for 3 hours, I found out that I missed my turn (cant even walk outside or get a drink of water). Back at the bottom of their list. This is the worst Ive ever experienced.

The visit to the DMV proved to be a rollercoaster of experiences. Despite the initial encounter with a judgmental lady at the entrance, the situation took a turn for the worse in the application room where another lady displayed misbehavior by bluntly telling me to leave, while I was trying to explain the situation. This unfortunate incident added to the inconsistency of service, contrasting sharply with the professionalism and friendliness I encountered at windows 5 and 24. Be prepared to block off a couple hours in your schedule for a driving test here. This location is significantly understaffed. We had a driving test scheduled for 2pm. Arrived at 1:50pm and check in process was quick and smooth. However, we were waiting outside for an hour before a test administrator was available at 2:55pm. Other than that, staff is helpful, despite being obviously exhausted, and the surrounding area is nice.

Arrived and parked at 8:30.Already a line of people waiting. They were clever like me waiting in line early before they even opened. Oh well. Waiting in the first line to be given the fluorescent green waiting tickets. I think it was smart that I did the preliminary application for the Real ID driver license online the night before and had a confirmation code for the DMV.I brought the documents required, my birth certificate, my social security card, a signed lease from the Apartment, and an SMUD bill with my current address on it. That, confirmation code was written on the waiting slip and I gave them my cell number so they could text me when my turn was up. DMV set up an online ticket website so I could follow the progress of my wait.Thanks to the Covid-19, it was a long wait, a long wait till 10:38 a.m. So yeah two hours! I got swerved immediately after I got up to the desk and picture taken and temporary licence issued. They wiped the thumb print station at each desk. So yeah that is why the wait was so long. Eye test. License cost $37. Get in that line for your picture... Able to finish and depart by 11. Every one I interact with, the security guard, the lady at station 20 and the lady that took my picture, were friendly, polite and efficient. Thank you DMV Carmichael for the work you do.

They refused to give me a disability placard. I have been there 3 times already with the same issue. The first time, they wanted my doctor to elaborate on the condition of why I needed the placard. My doctor did just that, but the black female supervisor, short hair,puts on glasses, and a bald white guy are still denying me. Its very frustrating. They dont understand how hard it is for me. I went to another DMV, they gave me the help that I needed.

I went to the main window first to ask a few questions and to get a handbook to study for my renewal. The lady I talked to first at 10am on 8/3/23 was very rude. She needs a major attitude adjustment. She yelled at me telling me the handbooks were at the opposite end of the room but there was none available. I went into the testing room and the lady there was very helpful. I give her 5 stars for helping. The lady I first talked to I give her 1 star and thats being generous.

This location is full of grumpy rude workers most of their attitudes are worst than somebody getting paid minimum wage. When I came here at 16 the workers kept making mistakes on my paper work and appointment sending me worker to worker coming to me with a mad attitude as soon as they started talking to me until they realized they were the one’s who messed up. They also talked to my autistic cousin like a dog or baby when she had simple questions like where to go to get her stuff done since it was her first time there. All the times that I’ve been here Ive only experienced 4 helpful calm people.

Kind of a FUSTER CLUCK if ya know what I mean... Theres weird loosely regulated door rules that seem to apply to most people but others seem to just walk right through. Social distancing isnt a thing until you get inside, then you find out there is NOWHERE to sit at all because theres literally like10 chairs in the whole building.Also when I was called B040 to Window 14 - Nobody was there. At all. For FIVE MINUTES. I found out later that he got called back to answer some questions on al call from HQ, but that did nothing about the weird awkward feeling standing at an empty window/desk wondering if im somehow being punkd. Luckily this guy saw me getting irritated, and pointed toward the back and told me that he was on a call...

Miles is only programmed to answer three stupid questions. Your phone tree and website are a disgrace. I honestly believe they’re set up to avoid work for the employees.We may no longer talk to an agent, just Miles the Useless. A question outside the box has no answer. The employee I got when I went in person after an hour/half wait was too busy flirting with the previous customer to bother me. She literally turned her back on me. After she snatched up my money, she went back to shaking her assets at the man who had stood there, in my personal space, waiting.

Little Steve Urkel at window 15 that’s why you work there. You can’t handle the single job you have. Called my number then a person walked up at the same time he asked me to wait on the side. Stood there for well over 10 minutes patiently before as king if how much longer it was going to be I said you called my number. He says by mistake, I said okay so can you have someone else help me. He says sure I’ll “throw you back in the pool” then he decided to laugh about it. Feeling very safe behind that counter. I know it’s just a job to you but don’t play with peoples time please. I know your times valued somewhere between 30-50$ hour so please don’t disregard others time. I won’t get into specifics but I probably make what you make in 1 year in 1 month. You wouldn’t know though because you just show up and do your job. Your attitude and how you disregarded my time is what is most upsetting. Then to mumble and laugh about it. You should be concerned

I went to do a registration check, the employee was very immoral and fanatic. I told him that I dont speak English well. My element made me nervous while driving, very bad. I dont want to be racist like him and describe him ugly. Like him, his words are very bad because I didnt understand what he said, but you talk to me with a loud tone, he spoke bad words and said this is not the first driving test for you, you must understand.

Surprisedly I walked right up to the window . And masks not required! That was an added bonus. The only problem was in the room to register; I found it difficult to navigate the computer because not informed of the touch screen because there was a mouse attached. I had to start over three times because it timed out. It would have been nice to know. I was so frustrated by then. Finally a staff member helped me. Need more helpful people in that room,! I could have only spent a short time registering if only a few basics were shared.. By then, there was a line of about 15 people, But it went pretty fast. The people at the check in window were fast and nice. The young man at window 24 was simply marvelous, therefore making my DMV experience positive and fairly quick! Yeah 👍. Also the web site was informative regarding the best times and days to visit (less busy). Thank you.

The customer service here is terrible. I waited 2 months for my behind the wheel appointment. I practiced a lot to be able to pass but once the instructor came, he was harassing me and screaming at me telling me things like “i don’t understand him” he is dark skin and has like an Indian accent. And when he got got out of my car he threw the papers at me and slammed my door. He has no respect. I don’t know how the dmv hired him. But it would be best if he were fired as soon as possible.

As soon as I did get to see people the employees worked really fast and processed everybody really quickly. Most of your time is just going to be waiting in line or in the lobby though.

PSA: This is the worst DMV in the Sacramento area. I have to go to the DMV a lot for my job and I’ve been to a lot of DMVs in the area and this is by far the worst. It’s so slow. Expect a two hour wait at least. What makes this place the worst is the first guy you talk to in the line. This guy is so rude, doesn’t listen to a word you say, and thinks he knows everything. I’m sure the other employees here are nice people but this guy just ruins your visit. I know his job is to move the line and get people their ticket number but all he has to do is listen and treat people like human beings. Take it from me, a person who has been to a lot DMVs, avoid this place and drive to Roseville or Folsom. The lines are shorter and the people are nicer. They will actually go out of their way to help you out, unlike Carmichael.

Hopefully this review is read by those who manage this DMV, when you get to the DMV front desk after waiting a significant amount of time you are then prompted to wait in another line to complete an application, which application is unknown by me the customer when you get to the second line instead of having easy instruction from a placard that could quickly and efficiently prompt me to a computer 1 of 6 to complete an application or 6-20 for a driving test I wait in line again to be told to proceed to computer.. after I am done with an application I am prompted by your employees to wait in line once more only to get to the front of the line where I took my application to then be told I need to go back to the front desk for a number so I can wait for help. Not knowing if I even have all the paperwork necessary to actually complete my transaction.. you are doing a poor job of instructing people making their time at the local DMV an actual Hell simulator. Some simple signs and the organization of computers will greatly increase the efficiency and you have all you need without me charging you my labor to improve your process.. your welcome

We arrived at 8:15 am for the Wednesday, 9am opening. Only 10 people were waiting in line ahead of us. Promptly at 9am, the doors opened and the place was surprisingly ready to go. The workers were at their desks and settled in. Such a nice surprise in contrast to how it was in 2019 when people seemed to be on perpetual coffee breaks. Our experience was very efficient and the customer service agent was actually very funny, yet professional.The only thing we had a problem with is that the announcements, the people, and machines humming coupled with the building itself, made the environment so noisy it was difficult to hear the agent.

The worst experience ever. I had an appointment for a real ID at 9am. Got there at 830 and finally made it through the appointment line to the counter at 915. My appointment number was called at 950. Gave the documents to the lady, got em scanned and paid my fee. She gave me the paper work and told me to go wait in line for my picture. Picture done and the next lady says hang on she walks over to the first person that helped me, then comes back. Tells me there was an issue scanning my passport and it happens all the time. To go wait for the first person to help me. 15 minutes goes by and she calls me up to tell me I need to repay and do everything over again because she didnt catch that the passport didnt scan successfully in their system. Once I pay I need to submit an application for a refund to the first payment. Then she walks away for 45 minutes. Doesnt tell me why, just goes away. She comes back and said she didnt know what she was doing and sorry for the delay. Then gives me a phone number to call and ask them how to proceed because she doesnt know if a second application will cause issues. Gives me a hand written ID extension for 120 days and says I hope it clears up before then. I go on vacation in 4 weeks and my ID expires next month right before my trip. Not to mention my work requires me to have a valid PICTURE ID to enter state and federal buildings. I was there for 2 and a half hours for an ID appointment that I pre-uploaded all of my documents for, they were all approved by the states system and left with absolutely no idea what is happening with my ID. California DMV is an absolute JOKE.

Long wait is an understatement! I am handicapped so I called and got an appointment to get the real Id. The wait time for an appointment is 2months! So I made sure I had all the proper documentation for the real i.d. and arrived at my appointment. First I filled out the application then was told to get in line at the desk where they go over your documents and make sure everything is in order. I was treated rudely for no reason and then told to sit down and wait for my number to be called. Well with having an appointment I didnt think it would take to long. Boy was I wrong! 2hrs passed and I told my husband to go ask someone if there was a problem. DMV employee asked me and insisted to pay tax for the truck. I educated her that there is no tax for the truck but we pay around $3k for the apportion plate. Eventually, I respectfully asked her to go and ask some one else and educate yourself please. Went during Covid. They were giving out only 300 tickets. I went around 11 to get a real id already had done the application online and just had to show them the documents. Waited in line in the front they asked what I was there for and got my cell number and gave me a ticket and told me I would get a text. I ended up waiting about 1.5 hours. Which is understandable during this time. Went in when I got a text and they checked my temperature and told me to wear a mask at all times. They processed the paperwork pretty quick, spent about 8 minutes and took a photo. Restrooms were open. DMV staff was nice. Just make sure to follow their direction and it should be simple. Two people were angry and cussing when I was there because they got in the wrong line then were asked to go back into another line. If you guys are not sure ask the security guard he is in the front and will point you in the right direction. Overall a good experience even though the wait was long. I feel like I was lucky because when I went there to get my permit, the employees were very nice and considerate. The process was very smooth. However, I really recommend you make an appointment rather than walking in. Walk-ins are never recommended unless you show up at around 6 because the lines go around the entire building. The website is a little difficult to navigate because I was trying to apply for a license and all I saw was commercial driving test and behind the wheel. I had to navigate through service advisor, then clicked on license application and it lead me to a video. I clicked I still need help when it was asking if it was helpful and I managed to schedule an appointment. Dont walk-in if you cant go early, its not worth waiting that long. I have personally seen them allow people to cut in line for whatever reason, and then not call people who have been waiting for ages.Usually no one is pleasant to interact with and everyone seems to give misinformation. The DMV associates are friendly, helpful and understanding. I needed to make a special trip back home from this office to retrieve several documentsthat my phone appt. failedto reveal was needed again. So make certain you have everything needed to complete all aspects of your perticular requirement. At the appointed time I was there it seemed not as crowded or overwhelming. DMV has managed thisLarge but well mannered group to keep business as usual. Make an appointmentThere fast (same day sometimes) and worth the effort.

I always put off going to the DMV because I hate going to the DMV. However what a great experience I had at this location! All of the ladies that helped me were super nice, I had to do a multiple of things. I had to renew my license, take a new picture, change my address, get a real ID and pay my registration. I was able to do all of this within an hour. Hardly any wait at all and very nice employees were super helpful. Never thought I would write a good review for a DMV but here we are😀

UPDATE (5 stars): For my second visit, my experience was completely different. I ran into different (and more friendly) staff, and there was little/no line. However, I visited at a different time than my last visit so that might be why. So I guess your experience just depends on which staff members you run into.ORIGINAL (1 star): The staff is very rude and unfriendly, and you have to wait for a long time even if youve made an appointment. I had a 3pm appointment for a driving test and got to the DMV 10 minutes early (2:50pm) yet had to wait until 3:40pm to actually begin my test. So to sum it all up: Pretty horrible.

Went in on my lunch to pay late registration for 1 car and turn smog for another. Couldnt use the kiosk like usual so I was afraid Id be late back from lunch. Not so. Had to wait for a window but they had 2 employees handling all walk in customers so I explain my situation, they give me a # and tell me to wait in the appointment line. Only 3 people in front of me. I explain to the gentleman at the appointment window and he gives me a # which they called immediately to Window 1. That employee was also helpful and got me 1 sticker and told me the other was already mailed out. In and out in 20 minutes flat. I was shocked!

In and out in less than 20 minutes for the Real ID. Did everything online first and brought all documents with me. Probably 100 people in line at opening and since I completed everything online first I was one of the 1st people taken in. This is the only way to go to the DMV and not waste your whole day in line. The people that helped me were friendly and had good attitudes. 1st time at this location and will go back in the future.

This place is horrible. They never sent me my notice to renew my registration, we call and tell them this, A PERSON WHO WORKS THERE said to come in, and they’ll waive the fee for us. We go in and they tell us they’re not gonna waive the fee EVEN THOUGH someone who works there said they would. Even spoke to a manager and they straight up said “it’s a courtesy that we send you paperwork to renew” I PAY YOUR SALARY!! You work FOR ME!! Nice to see my tax dollars going down the drain for horrible people and horrible service like this.

I was worried alittle when I drove in, but they had three lines, each for different services, I got in line and went through the covid questions and temp check, then waited about ten minutes and saw a clerk, she answered my question,a direct and stern answer, I was happy with my answer and left, it seems they know their job now not like before covid, clerks seemed to send you in circles, if they didnt know how to answer your questions; ALOT better, more knowledgeable service! All together it only took me about 15 minutes.

Last Thursday I went half an hour before closing. A guy leaving in his car announced that they weren’t taking anyone else in.I really appreciated that because then I didn’t waste time waiting in line. I went right up to the front to ask an employee a question.Another person was asking a similar question: our husbands were deceased, and we needed a vehicle title.After helping the first lady, the wonderful young woman DMV employee answered all my questions patiently, and even gave me the documents I need to fill out, with what I need to fill in highlighted in yellow.It only took 15-20 minutes.In a few days I wii go really early and stand in line with all the documents I need, knowing what it will cost, which the angel employee also told me.

2 & 1/2 hours on hold before closing just to not talk to a single person and mysteriously be disconnected. Absolutely ridiculous. They also don’t even show the curtesy to tell the people on hold they are closing using an automated voice message or anything, so you are on hold even after closing. Plus the reason I’m calling is because even after over 6 weeks of waiting for my tags, I still have not received them. So I guess I’m supposed to assume they are lost since I can’t get through to anyone.Edit: Finally got to talk to someone (use call back option and eventually you’ll be called) and my tags were sent to the wrong address even though the website “confirmed” it was updated. The person who helped me says the website “lies”, so basically don’t bother with the website. This DMV in Carmichael is outstanding. The whole thing to get a new senior ID card including taking my picture took 10 mins total. No big lines or problems. They run a smooth operation unlike any other DMV experience and my ID was free because I am over 62. Good deal!

After filling out all of my military information online and presenting my military ID, the teller denied adding my veteran status on my drivers license. He was very rude and did not want to acknowledge my military id. He told me that I had to do everything all over again. I wish I would have known and I would have waited for another teller. My friend was charged the same amount and he was given veteran status on his id the same day.

As there was a surcharge for credit cards payments online, I decided to walk over to the DMV OFFICE to pay my registration fee. ( I live across from it!!!) I was sent to the desks 7/8 and waited 20 minutes ( I usually get my SMOG certification done after I make the payment so as not to pay late fees) and was told that I had to come in to the office to pick up the sticker) and that they would not mail it to me. In the past it was great I paid electronically then got the SMOG clearance that was electronically transferred to the DMV and a week later I received my registration sticker in the mail. I was surprised that it wouldn’t be mailed to me. I went in to the DMV today and reached the office @ 7:45 AM, parking was a breeze, I walked in and the check-in woman gave me a number B043 and asked me to wait in the room to be called to a window. No smile, no greeting. She appeared like she did not want to be there. I asked her how long I had to wait ... and she growled back that she did not know!!!I went to the waiting room and the display monitor showed all letters at 001-6 being called. A lady came by with a 003 and was called immediately. I waited 20 minutes. I saw several others go ahead so I walked up to a desk and asked why and a very helpful young man told me to go to the front desk and get another form with better prioritisation and this lady gave it to me and I walked over the the counter 7/8 and waited 10’ and a very kind young man gave me my sticker.. I spent an hour and ten minutes for something I could have got in less than 2minutes!!!!Suggestions: 1) Don’t surcharge card use. That is expensive. especially for retired people. 2) accept personal checques at the electronic terminal, 3) If SMOG is not completed programme the machine so that the person can collect the sticker by scanning the payment receipt and the SMOG certificate ( and give a date estimate as to when it can be done to allow for Electronic delays 4) have the window numbers placed at about 7 feet above ground on Square boxes perched on poles so they can be seen from any side of the office. The ones are on the cubicle windows and are not in plain sight. 5) Have greeters who are politely welcoming, helpful, courteous and knowledgeable. Courtesy and respect takes the business far and beyond.

After a bunch of frustrating visits to a different branch, I came here and was pleasantly surprised to find that they had just started extended hours and were open from 7 am. The wait time was as expected and when it was my turn the woman who helped me was wonderful. She consulted a book to help me transfer my leased car registration from MA to CA and discovered that I had the correct paperwork the whole time. She walked me through the steps to get my car verification (behind with car driver tests), smog check (local shop nearby), and plates (back to her to wrap up) all within a few hours. The check-in process was also improved with what appeared to be an electronic system before moving to the non-appointment line to check my paperwork. Will be coming back to this DMV in the future.

Arrived at 6:30am. I was fourth in line for non appointment. I dont get how it took me an hour and a half. They call you to the desk, give you a paper only to tell you to go to another room and fill out a form on the computer, to come back to that desk and get a number thing so you can wait to be called. Then there were a few people waiting for their number to be called, and I swear they called more numbers than people and no one was going up. When I finally got to the window for the person to help me, she left to help this guy who was confused because of the constant back and forth from testing room to Windows. The person was gone for like 10minutes. The computer in the testing room was loading for like 5 minutes. Honestly, give something to government and it becomes overly complicated and impossible to keep up with. Also, if you want to go from permit to real ID licence, you have to have your paperwork for the real ID when you go for your permit test...If they put it on the website I would have had my stuff with me, but their website is pretty unhelpful...also the line is wrapped around the building before 8am so get here before then if you must come here.
