Carmel Valley Ranch was one of my favorite Hyatt stays of all time. The service was top notch. I wanted to give some special shoutouts to the staff: The GM, Ulrich was fantastic and made our stay extra special. Angela, memorized our breakfast beverage order every AM and was so kind. Sal and Mark in the Corral and Garden were awesome, and I don’t know the name but the housekeeping was excellent. Also the baby amenities were great. I hope to come back again!

Beautiful resort but the rooms are tired and smell a bit. The spa needs some serious organization skills. They have too many people trying to run the books.It’s also very difficult to get places without a car, the resort is extremely spread out.

Fantastic grounds; broad and plentiful amenities that seem overpriced, average food with good service. It’s a place that looks spectacular upon first glance but you’ll end up wondering if you could find a better value elsewhere when you leave.The EV charging rates are so outrageously high that you’d think they had salaried staff on hamster wheels at the fitness center to charge cars.Ultimately it’ll come down to convenience - you could plan everything this hotel could offer for far less, but maybe you don’t want to?

The hotel has the most stunning views of the Carmel Valley. All of the rooms are suites and have great amenities. I really like the fireplace in both the living and bedroom. The nitpick would be the toilet paper may be a bit too dry. The hotel has the most amazing value out of every hotel Ive stayed in around the Bay Area. However, the concierge mistakenly called me at 7 am in the morning for a shuttle that I didnt book, and offered me a $50 resort credit later for the inconvenience. Also, I was using the late checkout with my Hyatt Explorerist benefit but the new keys didnt work and it took over 30 minutes for the bellman to arrive. Thats not really a problem since theres plenty to do and see on the property and late checkout is more of a perk than a right. Lastly, if you stay here, I highly recommend hiking to the hilltop to see the animals. I loved the alpacas, donkeys, and goats. I am definitely coming back here to relax in the future.

I wish I could give this a 5-star review, but I must be honest. My wifes birthday was on June 15th, and after months of traveling between our home in Northern California and LA, I wanted to do something special to celebrate her. Shes been working incredibly hard, often putting in 18-20 hour days, even while traveling. She mentioned shed never been to Carmel and wanted to visit, so l researched extensively and decided to book two nights at Carmel Valley Ranch, with her birthday falling on Saturday. The trip cost $4,028, which included our stay, massages for two, breakfast and brunch twice, room service once, lunch once, and an archery session.While the bed was very comfortable and we had a nice view of the ranch, the rooms were quite outdated. The ranch staff were helpful, friendly, and professional. The food at their restaurant was good but nothing special, so we chose to dine off-site for dinner. The massages, costing $547, were disappointing due to the lack of spa facilities like saunas, jacuzzis, and cold plunges. The mens sauna was not working, and my wife was unimpressed with the one in the womens locker room.The shuttle service and drivers were courteous and efficient, with a special shoutout to Johnny, who has been with the ranch for 19 years. He gave us a fantastic off-road tour on my wifes birthday, which she loved. However, one of my wifes best friends and business partners had planned several surprises with the concierge, and only one was delivered, which was disappointing, especially since we were charged for all of them & so was she.The gym was nice, but the staff at the golf clubhouse and shop were rude and unhelpful, only focusing on immediate purchasers. I wanted to set up a golf experience for my wife, but we received no assistance.Given the price we paid, we expected the same level Given the price we paid, we expected the same level of service and experience as weve had at other luxury resorts like the Ritz-Carlton, Stanley Ranch in Napa, Four Seasons, Edgewood Tahoe, and The Wynn.Despite my efforts to make the best of it, including a fun private archery session on our last day, the overall stay & experience at Carmel Valley Ranch did not meet our expectations. For $4,028, we anticipated a higher level of service and amenities. I recommend updating the rooms, improving the lunch and dinner menus, enhancing the spa facilities with better amenities, and providing better customer service at the golf club. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend Carmel Valley Ranch Resort and will not be returning unless significant improvements are made. This trip was not worth the cost.

Very nice hotel with excellent service. The service is top notch. Everyone wants you to have a 5 star experience. The bell service made us feel welcome from the moment we pulled up and every time we got in the shuttle. The activities staff were great with my son. It rained one day and he lucked out with a semi private jr ranch day. He did the kids club. I got alone quiet time. I have to say, top notch customer service.

Lovely resort we try to return to every year. We love the family pool, the hike to the hilltop ranch, delicious breakfast, vineyard and lavender bushes, wonderful views, tree swings, evening bonfires and smores. The rooms are wonderfully appointed, often with beautiful valley views filtered through trees, and both adults and children love the outdoor bathtub. The weather is often perfectly sunny even when the Monterey/Carmel coast is cloudy or foggy.

Its a beautiful property with very comfortable rooms and decadent dining at the onsite restaurant.We were pretty far from the pool and restaurant though (7-10 minute walk). We could have taken the shuttle, but it would still be good to take walking shoes. :)

There are a ton of activities at the lodge - we played tennis, pickleball, swam, and chilled. There are also a few poke stops. The hotel bed is very comfortable, and we were upgraded to the king suite. The welcome wine is so delicious that I cancelled the visit to the winery nearby. Only downside is the restaurant - the service is way too slow, and it didn’t have any wow effects.

This review is specifically meant to address the changes that the property has made to EV charging. By increasing the price from $1/hr to $6/hr, management seems to be either greedy or actively attempting to discourage EV drivers.Nice property, but I won’t be back until they take a different approach to this. I don’t like being ripped off

Absolutely LOVED the property. Spent a couple days here as a staycation. The room was large, two fireplaces. The property is very pretty and almost gives a summer camp for adults vibe. There were a lot of kids but mostly only saw them at the pool.There is construction on the gym and one of the pools right now (as of Jan 2024) but it didnt really impact the stay. Theres still a gym in a large event tent and theres another pool open.Breakfast at the restaurant was in a converted conference room but was still delicious. Service was a bit slow, especially with how many people were working but it wasnt a big issue.The location is good, its about a 15 minute drive into downtown Carmel with shopping/restaurants/bars. Its an easy drive to/from.Highly recommend the Carmel Valley Ranch. Its great if you want to be active and play tennis/pickleball, golf, workout, swim, or if you just want to get lost in nature. Well definitely be back!

This was the ideal vacation for relaxation while traveling with a toddler (I know, hear me out.) First, the hilltop suite offered plenty of room for us all. 800 square feet with lots of space for our daughter to play with her toys and move around. The spacious king bed was extraordinarily comfortable (may be the most comfortable bed we have ever experienced) and we loved the large bathroom with a shallow but large tub for our toddler who loves a bath. My husband and I treated ourselves to outdoor baths daily with the large soaking tub on the patio. The views… It was perfect. At check in, they offered us a diaper genie and a microwave to be delivered to our room. This was a gamechanger and so very thoughtful. They also provided baby shampoo, lotion and wash as well as a thoughtful gift for our toddler. Above and beyond. Our room was serviced daily and we were very impressed with the room service. So much attention to detail. You never had to ask for more towels, more soap, etc. The best cup of coffee we had all week was at the lodge. Dont even bother venturing out into carmel for better coffee, you dont need to. We looked forward to our daily routine of walking the beautiful grounds to the lodge to get a great cup of coffee and breakfast. The pool area and hot tubs were beautiful and my husband and I enjoyed making smores by the fire pits in the evening. All of the little touches made this trip so memorable and worthwhile. We traveled often before having a child and now we are always seeking the perfect kind of vacation that works for us all. Here, we found it. Thank you, Carmel Valley Ranch for providing top notch service and accomodations. We relaxed, we adventured, and we truly felt the bliss of vacation during our stay. We will be back!

Very nice setup. Lots of family activities. Got to see very interesting falconry. Learned a lot from the class. Candle making was fun too. Special treats to see the Polish chickens up close and the beehives area in full gear. Saw wild turkeys too. They took their leisurely walk everywhere. Its like taunting us to catch them for dinner on Thanksgiving Day. Unfortunately, my grandson had to take a refresher archery class that day before he could shoot straight.🙂

Thought the food was too expensive for what was offered and also thought the service was not quite 5*. Rooms nice and spacious and great gym. Ive been a couple of times now and loved it each time, especially with a young child. He absolutely adores the meet and greet with the animals (goats can be petted), and feeding the chickens in the gardens, and even some of the uphill walking. The gyms pool is also very child friendly, with family and child hot tub (at a safe temperature for most children and not as hot as a typical hot tub). This resort allows me to have a laid-back, but active vacation while traveling with my toddler. He slept so well every night because he was exhausted from all of the running around during the day.I have noticed that there are now many more paid activities, but many of my favorites are still free (yoga on the hill, most of the exercise classes, the meet and greet, the garden intro, smores every evening). I typically stay 2 days, and get breakfast at the hotel, and dinner in the town. I havent had trouble getting late checkout as globalist, and their free breakfast benefit is quite generous at that level as well.The hike above the ranch area is a bit hot and sunny, so I recommend doing that earlier in the day. And bring a thermos with ice!The rooms are spectacular - very comfortable and roomy. They have a homey vibe and include a fireplace for the colder nights.I have no complaints about the service - its perhaps not as attentive as some super luxurious resorts in middle east or Asia, but certainly welcoming enough. We got our rooms serviced every night, though I do notice they dont replace or give you extras of what was used (no extra bubble bath or soap). I think thats due to the desire to be environmentally friendly - Im guessing theyd give more on request.

Carmel Valley is a beautiful location, and this resort is high-priced. I rated the rooms as 2 stars compared to the expectation of 4 stars. Rooms are just standard, cleaning was ok - our balcony was sandy, and view was blocked by a tree. For over $1000 a night I expected better.The ranch advertises their artisans. However the artisan foods were not presented at the dinner, nor the market, which was a disappointment. This would have been a great additional delight to talk about in both of these places.Also the food for a hotel with $1000/room is not what you would expect. I expected more good dining experience why we cancelled our fine dining in Carmel. But we were sorely disappointed by below your average priced dining restaurant service and food. The dishes were hit and miss. While our starter was awesome, our entrees were one too salty and one not salty at all.On positive note there are a lot of activities, some of which are free. But not enough to justify the price.

Grounds are beautiful. Had a bluffs room with king bed. Lovely fireplace and a beautiful view with spacious balcony overlooking golf course and mountain. The room was otherwise pretty standard hotel room. Housekeeping completely skipped our room one day. Power out the next day. Thankfully 50 degrees at night so slept comfortably. Most classes and events charge fee ranging from $100-200. Easy location in Valley to drive to wineries and a few local restaurants. Bit of hiking available.

The spa was amazing. I got a hydro facial by the most talent, amazing aesthetician Carolyn Bommarito. Her knowledge is incredible and how much education she puts into her career is outstanding. I left my facial feeling like a glowing goddess. Carolyn will put you on cloud nine within seconds of your service. She will make sure you are comfortable throughout the whole service. Beautiful property by Hyatt!! Minutes away from Carmel downtown, this is a huge resort with golf course, lavender fields, in house apiary, organic gardens and also restaurant. The rooms are spacious and clean. There is a farm with cows, ponies, horses, goats and alpacas. Visiting families can enroll kids in farm activities led by expert guides.The property has a fitness center with free classes happening everyday for hotel guests. The main concierge room with a cafe, shop and restaurant around pool area is also very relaxing. My kids enjoyed making smores at night in the bonfire which also felt warm in Carmel cold weather.

We spent three nights at Carmel Valley Ranch while visiting the Carmel and Monterrey area recently.We were very satisfied. It has a lovely, peaceful setting, excellent facilities (including pools, a fitness centre etc), great food, and the staff were very pleasant and helpful. Our rooms (Bluff suites) were very spacious and quiet.If you want to be near the beach, then clearly this wouldnt be the hotel to choose, but if youre looking for a lovely hotel which you can use as a base for exploring the area, and which you can escape back to for some peace and quiet after a busy day of sightseeing etc, then I would recommend it highly.

Always a fabulous stay for our family. The rooms are fantastic and hold larger families well. The amenities and available activities are unparalleled - there are simply too many to name! From the garden where you can pick flowers and veggies to the pickleball & tennis and pools to the indoor and outdoor games, the corral where you can visit the animals and the nightly s’mores, this place will keep you entertained on vacation if you’d like. It’s a gorgeous setting with deer and turkeys walking around and the food is delicious as well. Highly recommend a stay at Carmel Valley Ranch!

This is my husbands favorite spot and we come here often. It is dog and family friendly with tastings and spas and food and golf/sports and pools. The outdoor and indoor baths are so nice you do not need to book extra spa treatments. The warmed bathroom floors are great at night. If you love sitting by a fire you can easily make one between your bedroom and balcony or visit one of the many fires for smores. Our dog loves this place and gets so excited when we check in. If you have a pup, be mindful that they need to be on leash and in certain areas. They do have a full dog menu and it is the most extra thing we do there. Our picky poodle likes the beef short rib the best but the whole menu is amazing for humans and dogs. If you spoil your dog here they will always want to return since it is the fanciest place they can imagine

Carmel Valley Ranch is truly an experience. From the minute we arrived, the staff made sure to help us celebrate our engagement. Before our arrival, they even suggested some restaurants in town. We hiked, saw the animals, enjoyed sunset smores, did a sunrise yoga class, took an archery class, enjoyed the spa, hung out by the pool! We can’t wait to return. In addition to being beautiful, it has everything to offer.

We absolutely love Carmel Valley Ranch. This is our second time staying here and we will absolutely be back, hopefully many times. The grounds are spectacular. Between the oak trees, the vineyard, the gardens, and all the lavender, it’s truly a magical place.My only complaint and I hope it’s taken constructively and not critically because we love CVR. It’s a complaint we heard from other guests and even people out and about in Carmel By The Sea. Whomever is in charge of the restaurant, needs to find a way to improve the food. For such a beautiful, high end resort, the food is very average, sometimes less than average. I’m not sure if this has something to do with Hilton taking over, but it’s really unfortunate considering how much money you pay to be a guest. Not to mention the property is not really close to a lot of restaurants, so it’s not always convenient to have to leave property to eat.

My husband and I spent four nights here on our Babymoon and had the most wonderful time. The location is incredible, very secluded, peaceful, and quiet with lots of nature (wild deer, turkey, etc.). The staff is wonderful, they go above and beyond to help you plan your stay and ensure you are have a great time. Everyone is very personable, friendly, and accommodating.

The resort is expansive and beautiful. The room balcony was relaxing with a great valley view with a very public bathtub so you may want to keep your bathing suit on. The animal ranch atop a steep hill was a treat. The Valley Kitchen restaurant is tasty albeit slow in service at breakfast. The check-in experience was good . Getting a late checkout may be a challenge even with globalist status. YMMV with management encounters here.

Had some friends visiting and wanted to have a great experience, heard about the River Ranch at Carmel Resort, and decided to take them on for early supper, everyone was cordial, warm &friendly. If you go in the late afternoon you will get the 3 to 5pm menu, we ordered the hamburger, big enough to split into 2, with fries! Very delicious. The others ordered truffle fries, I thought was too oily, dropped in truffle oil for flavor. Salad, and a sandwich, they split they also enjoyed. It was a beautiful afternoon 😍

We showed up late in the evening, but Adrian at the front desk was able to get us checked in and incredibly helpful with information. We then went to the restaurant and felt bad cuz it was just before closing, but they were more than welcoming to have us. Josh, our server was great. Explained everything that they had going on, and was very attentive. Harlan then came over and greeted us he gave us a lot of information about some of the wines in the area and places to go, everyone was so friendly. the golf course was amazing. Everything well kept and a fast pace of play. Lots of wildlife all around. My girlfriend even got attacked by a wild turkey. It is within a short drive of the wonderful Monterey and Carmel by the sea so lots to do around. Overall, one of my favorite resort trips would love to come back again

We traveled from the Gulf Coast across the nation to Carmel’s beautiful Ranch & Spa. Although it was a holiday weekend and the following week off for students, the Ranch did not feel crowded. I love how sprawling the property is. We enjoyed our breakfasts there along with the fitness facility and fire pits. Our 1 bedroom had a stunning view overlooking their vineyards and organic gardens. The mattress was incredibly comfortable, in fact I’m trying to buy the very one for my home. The location is awesome. My traveling pal took advantage of the spa and enjoyed a deep tissue massage. The amenities were fabulous too by the way! The concierge helped us map out the 17 Mile Drive which did not disappoint! And their honey is killer!!! This is a must go to destination. So treat yo-self!!!!

I have gone several times to their garden dinners at sunset. I have enjoyed them over the last 3 years and continue to look at opportunities to go back. Colby Pollard has been their musician at these, and he has such an amazing repertoire of songs that he plays. And the food, it is always delicious and the garden is beautiful. After dinner, it is fun to make smores around the fire.

Avoid it until they figure out they cant compete with true high-end resorts. A very mediocre golf course, weak and limited tennis program, grotesquely overpriced rooms and restaurant that thinks its a Michelin star. They continue to fail to meet the needs of their community members and raise the monthly dues 10% a year even during long periods of construction at the tennis and exercise complex.

Perfect place for a weekend getaway. We were fortunate enough to get upgraded to a vineyard suite, and the view was spectacular.The room was spacious, with lavender pillow spray and bubble bath that smelt pretty good.There are a lot of activities on property (some with a fee). We did the archery and thought it was enjoyable. We also did a lot of hiking and meet & greet with the animals. All were really fun.All in all, a great experience.

Fantastic experience. Gated resort area with hotel at higher elevation, approximately one mile from the local road and with views of the valley. Rooms with balconies, large bathrooms, gas-fireplace, walking trails, and various other amenities. Excellent for couples, although I did see a fair amount of families at the resort as well (a plus or a minus, depending on your vacation). Excellent staff. Did observe some kids in the adults only sections. We were gifted a bottle of wine from the on-site winery when we checked in (alas, it had turned). Early check-in and late check-out. Highly recommend.

Really beautiful stay! The property is absolutely gorgeous, very well kept, and everyone on staff is really friendly. Nice golf course if you are interested and lots of activities offered at the River Ranch. My husband and I visited alone and definitely recommend. It doesn’t seem like there is much to do for kids unless you want to pay a high price for goat feeding/beekeeping/archery. Our room was beautiful, we were in the Bluff Suites and our room was spacious and had an outdoor tub. The floor in the bathroom was heated, which was amazing!! It didn’t work when we first arrived, but maintenance fixed it within 30 minutes. The housekeeping staff was great as well. The Valley Kitchen on property was great for breakfast daily and the outdoor seating offered is really nice, equipped with heaters in chillier weather. There is a lot to do outdoors nearby and a variety of really good restaurants. Recommend as a couples trip, but many families with children were present. The property is also very dog friendly. Overall a beautiful trip and really satisfied with our stay at Carmel Valley Ranch!

We spent 3 nights in CVR for vacation together with our 7mo kid. The room is spacious and the view is amazing. There are lots of fun activities to try. Our son really enjoyed watching the animals and playing in the family tub.The staffs are hospitable and thanks Peter and the team for the great accommodations! They offered in-room high chair and pack-n-play for the baby which makes our stay much easier. Will definitely come back soon.

My husband and I, our two kids (ages 9 and 12), and 3 dogs (golden retriever, chocolate lab and King Charles cavalier) made the drive from Arizona to Carmel Valley Ranch as a stop before we arrived in Lake Tahoe which was our final destination. We are so happy we chose to stay at CVR. For those wondering, there was a pretty even mix of families with kids of all ages and adults there sans kids.We had two connecting rooms (328 and 329). The rooms were spacious, quiet, comfortable and provided everything we needed. The outdoor tub was so nice and upon arrival all 3 of our dogs had very nice dog beds and food bowls waiting for them, along with a complimentary cheese board for the adults which was delicious. We were originally going to stay in one of the family suites but the deck was being worked on so we were given the connecting rooms at a discounted rate which worked out perfectly. The rooms in 300’s are the furthest from the lobby and restaurant. It’s quite a walk to get there so if you have very young children, there’s a shuttle you can hop on, otherwise it’s a very scenic walk with plenty of incline to make it a great work out, especially post meals. Our dogs loved their Horseshoe Trail hike every day. They were welcome everywhere on site except River Ranch which was so nice.The property is stunning and so well maintained. Lush lavender everywhere, a beautiful vineyard and oak trees everywhere…walking everywhere was a visual treat.The service is exceptional all around. Giana and the head beekeeper were excellent hosts during the beekeeper tour, which our whole family found fascinating. Salvador, up at the farm was extremely welcoming, introducing us to all the animals even though we were not on a formal tour. The kids loved it.The restaurant was great, even though we preferred to order off the more casual menu. Lots of kid friendly dining options, especially for picky eaters. The hotel provided water bottles and there are refillable water stations all over the property which was greatly appreciated.We really enjoyed our stay here and are looking forward to our return.

Sadly this resort has declined precipitously in quality over the past few years. The rooms are fine. Not particularly well-lit. Front desk staff are very friendly. Grounds are very pretty. But food is laughably bad now. Ordered in-room dining multiple times, and nothing was good. Chicken was bone dry and cold. Short rib was greasy. Polenta had a ridiculous amount of acid, it through everything off balance. Breakfast was stone cold, omelettes were among the oiliest I’ve ever had and the sauces all tasted canned. Wine list is brutally over-priced. Veuve for $170?? Should be half that given the low-quality stemware. No thanks. Pass.

The property is gorgeously nestled between a set of hills so the topography is something to behold. The resort is vast with lots of activities, but that’s where the positivity stops.The room rate is exorbitant and the service leaves a lot to be desired given the price point. Not once in our three-night stay did we receive housekeeping service; we had to ask for each occurrence. Also, the cost of food at CVR is completely insane, especially given the mediocre quality. Want to play on the empty tennis courts? 50 dollars for an hour. To nickel and dime everyone once they get on the property would be understandable if the drinks, service and food matched the dollars you’re paying. Sadly they do not. Far from it.

Ive been wanting to come here for a LONG time because of the great reputation. But for its ridiculous price, its just so underwhelming. The pros: the room is spacious (we had a suite) and comfortable. The bathroom is wonderful, bed was great. The cons: its so so expensive. The service is pretty non existent. They will nickel and dime you for anything extra. You get no extra anything, no happy hour, no glass of wine. If you want to go off the property and not drive, there is no shuttle and nearly impossible to get a taxi/Uber/lyft. The adults only pool is lovely but its right next to the outdoor restaurants with tons of people (and kids - so defeats the purpose of adults only). Definitely would not come back or recommend it.

Carmel valley ranch is absolutely beautiful!! There are wide open spaces with long range beautiful views. We had a wonderful time playing tennis, and enjoying the pool. Food was spectacular, with a fresh and fun menu. The rooms were spacious and perfect!All of that being said, the true gem is the staff. Tyler, a manager, was over the top! He is the type of person that watches every detail and can make each guest feel truly taken care of. Also, the rest of the crew were fantastic. I actually had an injury while hiking which inadvertently created this opportunity for the CVR team to truly shine. They were professional, more than accommodating, and so compassionate. We will definitely be back to play the beautiful golf course and visit again !!

Great hotel. This is a place where you basically can chill for whole stay or make a quick trip to the city for the beach. Breakfast was great, even the basic rooms have a great view and the suite I received during for the last night was wonderful--very spacious and has the lodge vibe. I visited here with my friends and am planning to revisit with my family. But I would recommend to have dinner somewhere else unless you are terribly tired. Not that the food is bad, but the area just has to many fine restaurants.

Beyond disappointed thus far. The pricey bubbling romance package with “tub treats” comes with one tiny bottle of bubble bath. Everything is closed due to weather, which is absolutely fine, but none of the staff seems to care or is willing to help us find anything else to do. None of the “daily complementary activities” are actually daily and they don’t inform you when something gets cancelled. In-room dining was incredibly rude when we called down and all we ordered was the hummus plate, but instead what we got was a stinky plate of over 50% roasted cauliflower. We’ve asked someone to come pick up the plate twice since last night and it’s still here. Our entire unit and now our balcony smell like gas from the old cauliflower, it’s grotesque and nauseating. Overall this is a beautiful location and very nice place to stay. The room was nice right down to heated floors in the bathroom. The view from our room was basically a tree.We were treated well. The only complaint I have wast the noise. There wasnt a ton of noise mind you but the room doors are so thin apparently that literally every little noise in the hall was crystal clear in the room. Why the higher end resorts havent put sound proofing in is beyond me. Again, overall a nice place to stay. Not sure it is worth $800 a night but....

This is such a beautiful resort. Its an outdoor resort so works well during covid times to help keep distance. Plenty of land to explore and hike on, and lots of activities too. First room had a tree obstructing the view and they helped to move us to one with a better view. (Totally worth it. Waking up to the view of the winery is amazing). Spent a lovely weekday night using the healthcare heroes discount. Gorgeous and relaxing property. Very family-friendly, yet several adult-only areas for those who want peace. Would definitely stay here again. All 3 pools open during COVID times (2 adult-only, 1 family pool). Unfortunately all the hot tubs were closed and turned into “mini-pools” due to local health regulations. They offered numerous outdoor fitness classes (advanced registration required) and s’mores during the evening. There is even a beautiful botanical garden with chickens and goats for the kids to enjoy. Definitely bring a bottle of wine to watch the sunset @ the lookout point just beyond the Lodge.

So the check in and golf cart guys were very helpful and the grounds were beautiful....BUT they gave 2 towels for a suite for 4 people. We called for housekeeping three times to bring more towels and in a 24-hour period that means under the shift of three different managers no towels were brought. No turn down service was done and no maid service was given even though we asked for 24 hours. The water pressure is absolutely horrible with the Home Depot shower sprout that doesnt even go full height so if youre taller than 5 ft 6 half the water doesnt get on your hair unless you bend down. The handle for the shower Sprout came out we asked for that to be fixed and it was not fixed so it was impossible to get good water pressure or heat.They they rip you off for everything....super overpriced to the point of knowing they hate you and are only exploiting you...All this and were paying 1000 a night.P.s. we are still here and we dont Have any new towels on our 2nd day and 4 people are sharing 2 soaking towels over and over

The room was not very clean as I like. Under the sheets I have found someones hair, couple of spiders and web around the bed. Also the patio was dirty and was not decorated nicely. Room service was very slow and did not restock the bath items (salt,bubble soap). They did not even leave slippers or shaving blade for us. Carmel Valley Ranch is fantastic, especially if you have kids and/or pets. The property is beautiful and there are many activities daily.Im only giving 4 stars because our last stay was unfortunately cut short by a private event. After checkout on Sunday, we went to grab coffee and a bite to eat and were told rather rudely that the lodge was closed to the public. We didnt receive any notice that that the resort was shutting down for a private event and felt kicked off the property promptly at 11am. CVR should notify guests and offer comp if they are going to close the resort to paying guests.

The grounds are beautiful and the pool as well as other activities are really nice. If you’re bringing a family, then the rooms are great. But if not, they feel like $500 a night dorms. Can hear neighbors’ footsteps, conversations, TV. Definitely not a place for quiet unless you’re hiking. Also my balcony with a “Mountain View” overlooked a parking lot outside the lodge and delivery trucks began beeping before 7, so ask reservation desk if that can be avoided.

I don’t get the hype—at over $800/room, I expected a lot more for the money.We stayed a few nights here and I got to say I was pretty disappointed given the cost of this place. The obvious pro (and how they justify the cost) is the beautiful room/suite. The room truly was luxurious (large comfortable bed, heated floors in the shower), the view was great, the provided toiletries were also really nice. The outdoor tub was a great experience and may have honestly been the highlight of the stay, but that is about where the pro-list ends.First off, as nice as the room was it certainly wasn’t perfect. We could hear the guests above us pretty clearly; some of the technology (as in the lighting) didn’t work properly; and the outdoor tub is not as private as the pictures may lead you to believe (we ended up up repositioning some pillows so that we couldn’t be seen by folks walking along the sidewalk right outside our room). It certainly wasn’t dirty or dated, but just sort of off.Most of the “activities” on the resort were very expensive (like $135 for “Grazing with the Goats.”) The “free” activities involved mostly meet-and-greats with the staff/caretakers. I’m sure walking around the property is itself a luxurious amenity, but that’s not saying much when you are surrounding by some of the best hiking in the country all just a short drive away. They provided a list of “amenities” which was included in your $50 “resort fee” (on top of the cost of the room), much of which would be included at most hotels anyway (for example access to the pool and fitness center and internet access). There were certainly items on this list of amenities that are exclusive to CVR, but they are pretty niche (I.e. the reusable tote bag. On that note, they also boasted reusable branded water bottles, which weren’t actually branded. They are just Proud Source brand water which comes sold in some type of metal/plastic bottle.)I was also surprised at what was lacking—namely not even a complimentary breakfast as you might have come to expect at other hotels. This leaves you with two options, pay $30/person for mediocre resort food (I had an English muffin which was clearly bought at the grocery store, waved over a toaster, and then served), or drive off property to one of the nearby restaurants. Here again I point out—if I’m going off property to get food, what is the benefit of staying at the resort? A final note on food—there is no microwave in the room, so if you want to eat any leftovers, prepare to have them cold. I suspect this is intentional, to encourage guests to visit the resort restaurants.I guess if you are a wealthy family that can afford to shell out hundreds of dollars a day (on top of an already expensive room) then this place might be for you, but for the rest of us, I’d recommend staying in Carmel By-The-Sea or Carmel Highlands (I specifically recommend the Tickle Pink Inn, which had a very accommodating staff, nightly wine and cheese reception, free breakfast, and views that blow CVR out of the water).I can’t give this place a 1 star, as the experience was perfectly fine, but there is much better value to be had elsewhere.

When I think about staying a resort, I think fast service, great amenities, activities, and a little mini paradise/getaway. This was not it, and we’ve been to several resorts. My expectations already weren’t too high reading some of the reviews but I didn’t realize it would be this bad.We mostly paid for our stay with points, and what we did pay out of pocket, I wouldn’t say even that was worth the cost. The room was definitely nice and big, there was a view but covered by trees, and we didn’t get a free upgrade though it comes with our Amex benefit. The only thing I really liked about our room was all the lavender scented amenities.They have only 1 restaurant (Valley Kitchen) in their massive property, and it wasn’t very good. In their reviews I was seeing pictures of their menu and prices exponentially increasing since last year (inflation, I get it) but some of their prices are absolutely outrageous (for ex. $13 for a mocktail with grocery store lemonade and homemade lavender syrup, and on avg. ~ $180 a meal) for highly mediocre food.Also, we tried booking time at the spa but they were booked for all services until 2 days after we would leave. Maybe they should get more staff here since a resort should be able to accommodate time at the spa and not have it all booked out since that’s a major thing people look forward to.As for the activities, highly subpar. You can only do them at specific times and most of them didn’t look too appealing. Saturday had most of the activities and every other day of the week was minimal. Also, $135 to look at some bees and taste some honey, no thanks.We ended up doing the off-road excursion which I thought would be fun but was highly disappointed. $375 for someone to take you up on a kawasaki through some trails around the property where you’ll get to look at some views, see some plants, and pet some animals for 1.5 hr. If you just hiked up there, you could do all that for free. Our tour guide was nice though and gave us some cheese at the end. We also did archery and although it was fun since we’ve never done it before, you can easily take a local class for the same exp and I’m sure it would cost you much less than $90 pp.Also, they did pizza night one night. After paying $28 for what we thought would be a large box, ended up just being a personal sized pizza. For $28! And not even fresh dough! They also did smores night but since they did not have vegan marshmallows we could not participate.We generally did not get service you’d expect at a 4 star resort. It was a mixed bag of friendly and non-friendly customer service. They claim to be typically available late night, but when we called for something at 11 no one picked up. The next day we called for a replacement of our wine gift for apple cider and they said housekeeping would replace it the next day. They did not replace. I followed up that night and said this is our last night, and they came to drop it off when we were about to sleep :/When I’m at a “resort”, I never want to worry about how much I’m spending, but for the quality of experience, I felt extorted out of my money which stressed me out all weekend and I just was not impressed with the service. All in all, this place is grossly overpriced and we dropped ~$2k on a weekend we didn’t absolutely love. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone or find myself coming back here.

My sister and I decided to take our family on a mini weekend getaway for my mom’s birthday. Received a lot of good feedback that this spot was good with following covid protocols and protecting their customers, as well as, themselves so we opted to try this spot out. We were impressed with the size, the activities, the friendliness, and excellent customer service. We had a great suite with two rooms with a personal patio so my dog had space roam and explore on his own. Love that this spot is extremely dog friendly everywhere but the pool. My family and I did the complimentary yoga and trx classes and did some archery for $65 per person. This weekend was for my mom and she enjoyed it so overall, great visit here. They provide in-room dining for pets, too! We ordered our pup his own meals for two nights, and it was such a treat for him :) We would love to return to stay and check out all their other activities next time, too.

The rooms were nice, but it required a lot of uphill walking to get to and from the lodge. The lodge food was decent at best. No microwave in the rooms was off considering how expensive this place is. Also, if you plan on golfing or playing tennis, make sure you look the part or they wont allow you to play, even when paying the fee. Our TV wouldnt stay on but others didnt have that issue with their room. There was construction going on and they started around 7:00 AM which was a buzz kill. Very few activities for kids. Beautiful location and tucked away.

We stayed one night, and had a great time. Our room was in the Bluffs, near the trailheads which were beautiful at sunset. Our room had a soaking tub on the balcony which was very much useful! Love that the pool for adults is 16 and over, much more relaxing vibe. Cocktails were good, wine list was great, although the beer list left something to be desired. We would definitely come back with kids, the activities are abundant. Lastly the staff was incredibly friendly and attentive.

I stayed here for a wedding about a month ago, and I loved it. The rooms were AMAZING. They had a lovely large bathroom, a living room, and a bedroom with a covered balcony and a fireplace. The restaurant had very good food, although the service was quite slow. The views were so beautiful, and there is a foot bridge that crosses the road in the resort, from which you can see the entire mountain and all the houses on it. The resort also has a vineyard and a flower garden, and both are definitely worth the visit. This was one of the best resort experiences I have had in a while!

Ended up taking care of us (more than was necessary). I sought him out to explain, and ended up in a great dialogue about it. Again, with a baby and valley temperatures dropping very low at night it’s a bit concerning to be stuck in a potentially pitch dark, unheated hotel. It eventually came on in 3+ hours.Very limited kid activities for toddlers and young kids. There was a kids splash pad that my daughter loved. It was the only open kids activity as the kids play house was closed - again “due to covid” although this was never mentioned anywhere on their booking. There is a small playground but it is in really poor condition - old slide, rusty steps, like you could order a play set at Walmart in better condition. Our second day, the splash pad was inexplicably off and multiple parents tried to find someone to turn it on. Getting help was absurd as the staff at the pool restaurant or check in area would just say it wasn’t their job / didn’t know / and wouldn’t call someone in to check.Food outside of the main restaurant was basically bad mall food at Sweetgreen prices. I think I ordered a chicken and vegetable “bowl” at the pool restaurant and it was basically inedible, worse than any takeout - rubbery chicken with 4 inches of soy sauce on top of rice.Anyway, I really wanted to have a great time but if you’re in a similar situation (young kid, and $1000+ a night is a steep amount of money for you) then reconsider.

The grounds are stunningly beautiful. The service is hit and miss. The food has gone way downhill from what was offered in previous years. There are far fewer activities offered now, and when we showed up for the Goat Gab and Organic Garden Tour, there was no tour or formal goat gab session. There was just a guy there who said that we could only pet the goats through the fence.All of this was fine, but what wasnt fine was how filthy our suite was! For close to a grand per night, it is completely unacceptable to offer a suite with marks on the toilet that come off with cleaning (yuck!), a rug in the main room that had a strong greasy/stinky dog stench, and an unswept floor complete with a bobby pins and food particles.We had our dog with us, and we love dogs. The stench was strong, so much so that our crawling baby reeked of it every time she crawled in the rug.I mentioned this very politely to the front desk, and they said they would call housekeeping to swap out the rug, sweep the floor, and give the toilet and rest of the room a better cleaning. We kept our dog out of the room, but no one ever showed up, so we waited for our cleaning the following day. They came and went, leaving behind the dirty rug and filthy floor. This feels so wrong given the price of this place! I expect much better.

I visited my friend who works at the Hilltop Corral. What a beautiful placeThe golf course is incredible and this 500 plus acres is breathtaking.There is a trail to the Hilltop Cirral called the Huff and Puff, I would not recommend it unless you can walk up dirt paths with steep grades.Take the shuttle or find another way.Lodging looks amazing and tge staff was friendly and very helpful.

What a beautiful relaxing spot! The room was amazing with a fireplace, a deck with a hot tub, and a king sized bed. Golf carts take you around to your room and the lobby. There are numerous activities to partake in, such as candle making or gardening. The air was fresh and the night sky had plenty of stars. Service was all star - I never got the sense that any folks lingered for tips and all were genuinely kind and helpful. Tip: those super comfy furry bathroom slippers are complimentary. The hotel suites are the epitome of understated luxury with stunning views down the valley to the Pacific Ocean as they stair step up the mountain. And you may have to get off of the sidewalk and walk around the deer on your way to the restaurant in the hotel where you can partake of its fine dining selections with a great collection of the best wines. If you want the wedding of your dreams, avoid Carmel Valley Ranch AT ALL COSTS.Despite having a fully signed and agreed-to contract for months, CVR manipulated us over the course of almost half a year, until ultimately the Director of Events, Christina Richardson, called us to say that they will not be able to accommodate our wedding anymore and will be invoking their cancellation clause. Their contracts allow for them to cancel WITHOUT cause. So, until you are literally walking down the aisle… they can cancel your wedding for no reason!We discovered CVR in Feb 2022 and immediately fell in love. It was a little out of our budget for our big Indian Fusion wedding, but we were able to get some more family support so that we could celebrate our special day the way we wanted. After signing the contract, everything went downhill. We had been promised a level of excellence and service, but were left empty: unanswered emails, false promises, unprofessional calls, and just sheer carelessness like spelling the bride’s name wrong in emails. This was doubly disappointing because all their reviews have been good, but there clearly seems to be a turn in their service.During our original contracting process, we asked for room blocks for ourselves and our wedding guests, and CVR said it would be no problem, but would be a separate process/contract we do after we sign the venue contract. Shortly after signing our contract, we reached out about the room block. CVR then proceeded to ignore our request for over a month as we helplessly sent emails and called every 2-3 days. They finally came out of the dark and asked if we could get on a phone call. We immediately obliged, thankful to have made some progress. Sadly, we were faced with immediate disappointment as CVR asked us to MOVE OUR WEDDING DATE.We said no, we’d like to keep our wedding date. CVR said they would get back to us on room blocks.Fast forward another three weeks of silence and my repeated emails requesting updates, when they finally come back and say they will not be able to accommodate any rooms. Why? Because months after we signed, ANOTHER COMPANY offered to buy out the whole property for our wedding weekend, and CVR let them.To hear that the CVR team booked a buyout after they delayed our request for a room block for months (and then ultimately rejected it) was absolutely gut-wrenching and Machiavellian behavior we could not have expected from any venue.Wedding planning is already stressful, and this news added extra burden as we now had no location to get ready or change between ceremonies. We asked for their help in figuring out a solution.After ghosting us for another two weeks, we received a phone call saying that they will not accommodate our wedding anymore. They canceled our wedding with little remorse and zero backup plan!As we scrambled to find a replacement for CVRs misbehavior (we reached out to 103 venues), we finally accepted that it is going to be next to impossible to find a replacement venue on the same weekend anywhere WITHIN A 3 HOUR RADIUS.To the staff at CVR: I will never forget how you treated me. You claim to be a luxury resort, but my wedding planner read all the emails, and said you are the worst venue she has dealt with in 25 years. You made my last 9 months MORE stressful, MORE traumatic, and MORE expensive than any bride should ever have to deal with.To other brides and grooms reading this: I want your wedding to be amazing. Be smart and avoid these liars at all costs. Through calls, emails, in-person site visits, and texts, I spent NINETY-SIX HOURS going back and forth getting manipulated, lied to, and gaslit. I would not trust them for any wedding, especially multi-cultural celebrations.The venue cancellation destroyed me for weeks. I do not want this to happen to any other bride or couple getting married to ever have to go through this. I do not wish the stress that CVR caused on me, my fiancée, my family, and the people closest to me… on anyone. It’s not worth it. Do not get married here.

Our stay at Carmel Ranch has been absolutely amazing. This is obvious as soon as you start driving up the hill towards the Lodge. The view is breathtaking and come sunset, it gets even more stunning. The rooms are perfect and have a very home-y feel to them and the beds are comfortable. All the amenities were free (although I do not know if that is the case for every room) so that was a nice plus. The amenities were also above par containing snacks that are more premium feat. Milanos, Cliff bars, etc. Theres several fire pits located around the grounds that they light from 6-10pm which helps when it gets slightly chilly late at night. The grounds also feature four decently sized pools, two of which are adult only. However, they do not go very deep, only 4-4.5 feet deep. The grounds is very large as it is also contains a full sized golf course with each hole scattered around the grounds, but they have a 24/7 shuttle service that you can text and theyll send a golf cart thatll arrive in 5-10 minutes.

The reason I cant give 5 stars the way Id like, though, is the terrible service we received eating at the bar in the resorts main restaurant. It took almost 3 hours to have 2 cocktails, an appetizer, and 2 entrees. The bartenders were far more interested in socializing with each other and the other servers than they were in actually doing their jobs. One of the bartenders was even standing behind the bar eating pizza, which I found extremely unprofessional. I would strongly recommend that they all receive re-training ASAP. Such a lovely resort shouldnt be sullied by only a couple of lazy employees.

For this caliber hotel, the service was appalling throughout our two night stay. The American Express platinum concierge advised us that we could do an early check in at noon. When I called at 11:30 AM, the front desk advised me the room had been cleared at 11 AM and it would take them 1 and 1/2 hours to clean. We gave them plenty of time, arriving by 2:30 PM. When we arrived, we were told the room had not yet been cleared by the supervisor and that would take 20 minutes. We had to ask again after 20 minutes, and we finally got into our room at 3:30 PM, just 30 minutes before the regular 4 PM check-in.The room is rather ordinary. Spacious, but corporate and tired furniture. Plus there were no special treats or amenities awaiting us. For example, there was no throw blanket on the bed that we could use outside on the deck. There are no potato chips and chocolate or other treats in the refrigerator, so we were starving at night. Well there was a funny pillow for our pups and a water bowl, there were no dog treats and dog toy awaiting them. I contrast this with our recent stay at the montage Healdsburg, which was a much smaller space but so much more beautifully appointed. There we had so many little touches, including an outdoor shower, and a cool freestanding tub. Our stay there was exactly the same price.The meals. Oy,, the meals. Apparently the chef left and started a fabulous restaurant called Woody near the Monterey Airport. The new chef makes unexciting food that is served lukewarm. Apparently, the owner refuses to pay his staff a fair wage, and during the pandemic, he has had to hire and not train new staff. Starting with the ice cold front desk person to the wait staff, it took forever to get our food. There is no small talk or cherry conversation with the wait staff. Instead, we had to ask for components of our dishes to be brought to us. The pool service was almost nonexistent. The pregnant lady next to me waited an hour and a half in order to order her lemonade and salad. When she finally got it, the fork was missing. I got the Vietnamese rolls since I was rather peckish after my small omelette for brunch. The server brought it without a napkin, fork or glass of water.While my massage at the spa was excellent, there was a lack of hospitality there. A perfunctory, and untrained young person showed me to the spa area but didn’t have any of the hospitality patter. The spice store is so bland, but I bet the merchandise has been there for the past three years. The buyer should go check out the spa store at Cavallo Point or Siolage for ideas.The grounds, however, our vast and spectacular. I loved the gorgeous array of flowers in the garden, checking out the goats and hens, and walking in the Vineyard. We also took a hike led by someone from the hotel, up to the corral area, and that was also rather pleasant.We came up here to celebrate our 38th wedding anniversary. While being with my husband in this beautiful setting was magical, for the same cost for a bungalow, I would rather stay at montage Healdsburg again. The Hyatt should have refreshed this property during the 10 months it was closed during the pandemic. But it’s not too late. It is such a unique setting. They just have to spend some money to make it sparkle and pay their employees a decent wage.

A secret hideaway My husband and I go here and picnic in the vegetable garden, and then we take our doggies on a walk, on seemingly endless trails amongst the oak trees and hanging moss. Gorgeous vista views, a great exploration, and not too many people along the way. The club house pool, restaraunt and outside bar by the fire pits looks divine. This place is kind of hidden in a huge Hotel and Golf resort. We sat next to the fire place and I ordered the Burger. It was the biggest Burger I’ve ever had, was more rare than medium though but the taste was so good that I almost forgot that I actually ordered medium. It came with fries, Bacon, Avocado, Veggies and Onion Rings. For $35 bucks good enough! Our server was a young nice guy but asked almost 5 times if he can take away the plates even we were still working on them.

We were then told there was currently no power to the rooms - no hot water, no heating, no lights etc, and asked if we still want to stay?For $1250AUD we decline. No discount was offered, no apology for letting us drive all the way there without contacting us.As if this wasnt bad enough, were not offered so much as a cup of coffee! No help to find alternative accommodation, absolutely nothing. We asked for the manager, she never came.We had lunch at the hotel so we could work out where to stay and were impressed by three of the hotel staff. Again, we were offered no discount and nothing complimentary, even though the manager knew we were there.I recommend people spend their hard earned dollars elsewhere. Its when the chips are down that a services skills are really put to the test, you dont want to be there when you need help. You certainly wont find it!The power outage was not their fault, the way they handled the situation was.

The fact that the main pool is not allowed for anybody under 16 is unacceptable. The pool for young adults is a mile away and has nothing to do with staying at CVR. Also, the food service at the main restaurant was subpar. Our table was dirty when we got seated and took over 10 minutes to get our servers attention everytime we needed anything! The food quality was good at dinner, but took over 1 hour to get it. The breakfast brunch selection was poor and the food was unimpressive. The pancakes were over cooked, by seating so long in the warming tray, same as the scrambled eggs. The pastries were stale and hard, almost felt like day old croissants. On top of that you have to get your own coffee if you want a decaf latte, because they dont have enough room for a decaf container. Weve been visiting this property for the last 12 years and this by far was the worse food experience ever! It should be a 3 1/2 star hotel at best.

We choose to do arching as an activity. That lacked a certain relaxedness due to the safety restrictions handling bow and arrows. So this was only okay. But my co-workers got her super late, 5:45, so they gave her a wine and $50. My company did a buffet dinner for us, and the beef was very chewy while the mushroom was very tasty. I would say their deserts need to be improved. The desert at our buffet was not impressive. We also order 5 differnt deserts in my room to try, and none of them was worth eating again.I did the bee experience, and it was very interesting. I learned a whole lot from it. Its a bit pricey though $75 / per person. Thats include the tour and honey tasting. Who knows blue cheese and honey taste good together. You also get a little hand balm gift made out of bee was and lavender oil at the end. Its only recommend for children 6 and older though.

The room was dark and construction and furniture felt old. We could clearly see people walking beneath our building (and they us), while the premium view of the mountaintops was entirely hidden behind leafy trees.- Food in the restaurant and room service was mediocre, diner level.- Room service requests were not honored.- Most interactions with staff members felt stunted to varying degrees. One staff member from room service hung the phone up in our face (we brought this up at checkout and got credited for one of our meals).- They made a mess of our billing which I had to call and straighten out (staff member who helped me with this was very helpful).

I looked and looked for a place to stay in town to be within walking distance from shops and the wine. :) I only found older boutique hotels that werent for us - we like an updated hotel with plenty of room, and preferably a hot tub and spa. We found all of that and more at Carmel Valley Ranch. Its a 10 minute drive to downtown Carmel and totally worth the few extra minutes. The rooms are HUGE with a separate living room area. We were looking forward to a very nice experience for New Years and found the Carmel Valley Ranch online. It looked great, but when we got to our *very expensive* luxury suite, we found cracked tiles in the bathroom, torn rugs in the living area, a partly melted TV in the bedroom. There was no remote for the bluray/dvd player, but we did have 3 remotes for the 2 TVs. Service was good, but the cleaning was not - the last night we were there, the maid service did not clean the bathroom well or not at all.To their credit, on check out when I mentioned the problems, they gave us a small credit (compared to the overall bill) and they had given us a nice bottle of champagne on check-in for our special occasion.I should specially mention the restaurant: The first evening meal was very tasty, but exceptionally salty. The breakfast was part of the room fees. It was okay, but got worse and worse.I didnt know you could have burned granola. We gave up eating there.The grounds are beautiful. We cant speak to the quality of the sports amenities, such as golf or tennis. We didnt stay there for that.I had a spa massage and the experience was very good. The massage therapist was professional, kind, effective and accommodated my special request for non-scented oil.Overall, it was a disappointment because we were hoping for more, but there were some bright spots.

Its amazing the turn around of this place... from the previous owners who built some slick out of place East Coast style resort that simply didnt fit with the valley. JDV has done a phenomenal job. Their pool deck and infinity spa are beautiful, the playful nature of the added elements like the swings are too much fun (you must do it while you are there.. a simple, storied, fun moment). Their gift shop is the best organized and stocked shop I have ever seen. They offer endless activities and options. I am no golfer, but meet at the clubhouse in the morning for the bee keeping experience - you get to learn about the lavender honey and bee projects they do on site, as well as dress up in bee keeping outfits and do a couple tastings. It was so much fun.The rooms are exceptional.. we had a hillside suite that stared out over Carmel Valley. Its the most beautiful place in the world... and we just took it in from our patio, or our huge and exceptionally comfortable bed (one of the best I have ever stayed in), warmed by our huge gas fireplace. It was room 309, and it was a fantastic place. Rates are steep. STEEP.The breakfasts were outstanding, the dinner was fantastic - the menu is concise, but the options are all delicious. The bartender is a classic - and kept making us some of the best drinks I have ever had - classics for me, fun stuff like pear martinis for wifey. I am looking at some of the drinks we ordered, and sparing you the nasty details, I can safely say we enjoyed ourselves.Its certainly a place to save up - but its a true weekend away rather than those sloppy, half-assed staycations that just dont re-energize or rejuvenate like they should. I am starting to think you need 3 days, or its not worth it. So my advice... 3 days, and call me in the morning.

I stayed here two nights with two kids, and one of my kids is 10 month old. I requested a crib when I made my reservation 3 weeks ago, but they NEVER provide me with a crib during my stay. I talked to the front desk staff in person and called them multiple times to ask for the crib, but it NEVER comes to me. We notified the staff twice that the family pool was absolutely packed and not compliant with any of the Covid restictions (25 people was the limit listed by the pool). We suggested that maybe they open up one of the two adult pools (both were pretty much empty) but were told the spa manager likes to keep the adult pool separate. Be that as it may 1) they arent compliant so they need to do something since they booked all these rooms 2) the spa isnt even open. I get they are working the kinks out as they reopen but there is a fairly clear solution to this problem - they just are choosing not to do it.

The cliché of “you get what you pay for” couldn’t be more true than with the Carmel Valley Ranch. While it’s not cheap, it’s not so much about staying at a hotel as it about having an experience. From the check in process to the assistance to our room, everyone there went above and beyond. It even got to the point that my wife and I kept asking each other “why is everyone here so nice?”Our room was huge and it felt more like an apartment than a hotel room. They even had a dog bed, bowl and treats if you come with your furry friends. When you’re not in the room, they have plenty of activities. That evening we went poolside and made smores (which they provided) by the fire pits.If you have the opportunity to stay here, treat yourself and don’t pass it up. Do NOT stay here if you want peace and quiet. the wall here is paper thin. everything happening in the next room sounds like happening in your own room.the ranch caters to families, so you get families with young kids and babies. people next door talked, laughed, babied cried all the way until midnight. you hear EVERYTHING! When the kids run in their room, it sounds they are running in your room, gives you a heart attack every time!I was also awoken by people next door 7:30 am in the morning. same thing as last night, everything they do, including flushing the toilet, u would hear so clearly it seems like they are happening in your own room.the room is OK, but definitely not luxurious! the tissue paper is the harsh and cheap kind. the sofa creaks everytime I sit down. The mini fridge only has like 2 water bottles, no soda at all.also, u wouldnt have any paranamic views of the valley from your room. our balcony overlooks some trees, thats it. the trees covers up the view. some rooms are even worse as they are second row so it would be overlooking other rooms. the only place with a good view is the Bluff suites...Definitely take your money somewhere else! you stay next to a family with kids, then your whole stay here would be ruined. No noise insulation at all here!

I thought long and hard about what I wanted to say in this review. In the end, I am going to go with a 2 star review. For a Labor Day/ early birthday weekend away trip I was dead set on getting a massage. My boyfriend and I researched the many options in Monterey and Carmel. We went with Carmel Valley Ranchs in-house spa for our couples massage on August the 31st.. I inquired whether I could get a mimosa when at the spa. I was told by the very friendly spa staffer that I could get a mimosa before or after the massage at the pool area directly next door so she suggested I bring a swim suit to enjoy the pool in. Perfect! What a great way to spend a Saturday afternoon. At least this is what I thought at the time I booked.The day of the massage was a beautiful sunny day- often rare on Labor Day on the coast. The massage was excellent and refreshing. I didnt mind paying the price for a day of luxury and relaxation. After the couples massage, we went to enjoy the pool as suggested again by the spa staffer who assisted us. We went and found chairs at the pool. I immediately started looking around for a pool waiter to put in an order. (We had not eaten before the massage so we were both starving after our 90 minute massage.) A waiter made eye contact with me and then walked to our neighbor to take his drink order. So I waited patiently. Another 10 minutes pass in which the neighbor had been brought his drink order, and two couples have been seated and their drink orders taken. Ten more minutes pass by and we are starting to get irritated and more hungry. Three more couples in the mean time are seated and enjoying appetizers and drinks. I walk over to the waiter station after another ten minutes of no service and ask if I can have a menu. The young staffer said, Of course! I go back to my chair and proceed to pick out items that my boyfriend and I would like to eat. We wait another 15 minutes and NO ONE BOTHERS TO COME OVER. At this point I am beyond upset, insulted and famished. We pick up our belongings, return to the spa to change, and leave to spend our money elsewhere to have a nice late lunch.I will never book anything at this place again. Despite the amazing view and tranquil environment at the adult pool and excellent spa services- the trip was a complete waste of time and money. I went to have a great early birthday having a massage to relax and be calm and instead end up leaving angry and stressed out. The payment for the spa treatment was a TOTAL WASTE OF MONEY if it was just going to get reversed by rude and non-attentive pool waiters. I would suggest getting spa services elsewhere so you can actually enjoy yourself afterwards, like every other location I have had a massage at. Had I known their service was this poor, I would have not paid to have my massage done at a four star hotel to have two star service. I wish I could have asked for a refund right then and there.

Unfortunately there was no heat in our room when we first arrived. The hotel continued to place us in other rooms that also had defective heaters, however, after the third and final suite also had no heat, maintenance fixed it and the assistant manager came in to personally appologize. She and all other staff memembers were extremely polite and worked hard despite missing the previous attention to details. We are extremely low maintenance folk but the constant relocation and missed details put a damper on our experience.

Exceptional service. Rooms are very spacious. Adult pool is a quiet place to relax. We visited during a July weekend, yet the resort didnt feel crowded.

Amazing Place to stay!!!! Loved everything about the Carmel Valley Ranch. TRX class w Vanessa was just what I was looking for during my vacation. So many activities to choose from and property is beautiful. Staff was extremely accommodating and friendly!!!

A really beautiful setting with large and opulent rooms. Great pool area. Several trails surround the property and provide some nice but not too strenuous hikes.
