This is one of the best Vision Care group in San Diego County. They are knowledgeable, professional and well-operated. We came here when my children were growing up and needed special contacts Paragon CRT and I still use it personally today because they are still the best I could find. Definitely worth the drive from Coronado to get excellent vision care. Thank you.

Carmel Mountain Vision Care is a top-notch optometry clinic that is well furnished with top of the line equipment for vision care. I’ve been a patient of the clinic since 1989 and I have consistently receive the best treatment. My prescription glasses have always been accurate to give me the best vision possible. I always recommend this clinic to my friend and relatives alike.

The front receptionist, Lauren, is incredible at her job. She is warm, easy-going, and very knowledgeable. Lauren went above and beyond for me with calling my insurance and fixing a problem that I did not think would be fixable, and she did it no questions asked!Likewise, Dr. Sandler is the best Optometrist Ive ever seen. I have been seeing eye doctors since I was 4 and he is the best! He is very welcoming and makes you feel so comfortable and relaxed. I left feeling so confident and optomimistic about my eye health, more than I have in years. Thank you so much!

The staff there was incredibly disrespectful. From the moment I walked in, I was met with rude attitudes.The receptionists seemed uninterested in helping and treated me like an inconvenience rather than a patient in need. They were impatient when answering my questions and made me feel like I was wasting their time.

Google just wont let me write a second review.This is mainly a message to Carmel Mountain Vision Care management:I went back to pick up the glasses that Marissa so graciously helped me pick out and was informed that Marissa did not, in fact get a raise, which is highly upsetting. She deserves to be paid AT LEAST 500k/year with the worlds best health insurance and any other benefits she wants. Anything less should be considered some sort of ethical crime against her.But I mean aside from that, when I picked up my glasses everyone was still so chill and great. Keep it up bros. Just fulfill my request regarding Marissas pay rate please. Pretty please talk to payroll about this and make them figure something out.#justiceformarissa

I purchased glasses at Carmel Mountain Vision Care several years ago. I recently stopped by the optical department just to check-in. Marlon Stone, Optical Manager, noticed that I was not wearing my glasses correctly. He made some adjustments to my fit, replaced the nose pad, cleaned the lenses, and provided a quick tutorial reminder on how to properly wear my glasses. All of this at no charge-- and with a delightful disposition!

Date of service: 08JUN2022. Went in to for my eye exam and all went well. Dr. brought me to the eyeglass section to make a selection of frames and get my new glasses made up. The lady that assisted me (dont recall her name), her customer service was lacking . She was abrupt in demeanor and just seemed she just did not want to be there. Ok.. no problem. What really bothered me is that I had brought in my own two glasses that were ordered from that same office with the intent of re-using the frames. These were bought and made not more than 2 years ago and never been worn, so essentially they were still new, straight from the box. Having a new prescription, I wanted to reuse the frames for my new glasses to save on expenses. She looked at the frames and gave me a story that the action of the hinges were bad, the temples were worn, they were aged and one of the glasses temples could not be adjusted. I told her those were never used and were in perfectly good condition. So I caught her lying to me to make a sale. She backed off. Then she says that if I use those frames, if they break in the process of making my new glasses, it is at my expense. I failed to tell her that I had done this once before, using an old frame for a new pair and never was told this and never had any problems. I feel all this was just to make a sale. This put me all off.. she didnt make a sale. The Drs are excellent and Ihave been using this facility for years. I will never use her services again. I honor truthfulness and integrity.

My daughter and I were both picking new glasses and we were helped by Ellie and Marlon. They were each excellent and they went above and beyond for us. We had lots of questions and I honestly took more time with my decision than we had planned. They were so warm and welcoming and very patient. They both had a lot of really good information and so they were very helpful to us the entire time. They were cheerful, available to answer every question, never rushed us, it just couldn’t have been a better experience. It actually was fun going through the whole process of picking new glasses and learning all the ins and outs that helped us with our decisions. And another very friendly and helpful young woman helped us on the way out, her name was Lauren. A friendly face can really make your day so we really appreciated it . Thank you Ellie and Marlon!!

My family and I have been patients here for many years, decades actually. The doctors and technology are top notch. Dr. Bytomski has cared for me through several eye surgeries plus the aging process, and she always referred me to excellent specialists. I always buy my glasses here also because the selection of frames is very good and the people who work with you are so knowledgeable. I recently bought new frames and lenses, and the gentleman who woked with me was so helpful in having me look at a variety of frames at different prices and following my desires on style of frame. They have never tried to up-sell me. Friendly, personable, and competent service always.

I have been calling between 3PM and 4PM to try to find out why no one called about my glasses and can never get them to answer the phone. The Dr.s are great but I will never buy glasses from them again. Now I remember why I stopped going to that office 8 or more years ago.

Doctor Sandler is fantastic, as are the support staff. The glasses are much more expensive than can be purchased elsewhere, quite the mark up. Their claim is the quality of the lenses is superior. Ive purchased both from their office and Costco, and notice no difference in vision quality or longevity of the frames and lenses. However, Carmel Mt. Vision Care will replace a pair of glasses if they dont work out for you and Costco will not.

We have been for couple years. The doctor was really good. Nice and patience, explained detail very clear, but yesterday, the contract glasses service was really bad! My boys didn’t often use his old frame, so we wanted to keep the old frame and just changed new lenses. The staff may not happy for our choice and treat us very cold and unfriendly attitude. It was ridiculous!

I was a patient here for almost 20 years until I got a second opinion…. It was just on the fly that I went elsewhere to get new glasses and realized that they had been giving me an inaccurate prescription. I did notice the last 3-4 pairs of glasses that they would hurt my eyes and give me headaches. I have spent thousands here as you can imagine. They are not cheap. The lens quality is not good, they have charged me for various types of lenses they claim were treated but if you take them to others they go “you don’t have anything on these! These are extremely cheap!”I’m leaving this bad review because the optician woman tried to say that in less than 2 years my vision somehow magically got better to where I’m not as near sighted and my astigmatism got so much worse that the shape of my eyeball changed in 2 years. She tried to say as patients age they become more far sighted. I have no issues reading or with anything up close and I do know astigmatism remains stable until your 50s and 60s. Don’t go here unless you want poor quality glasses that are overpriced, lenses that don’t offer what they claim they do and have weird staining quickly and prescriptions that are inaccurate. Myself and my whole family are choosing to never go here again. I feel scammed by them and it’s not a great feeling because I actually liked the dr.

The doctors are amazing only the doctors.get my prescription glasses around 4 months ago and they charge over a 1000 dollars to the insurance for the glasses only (because I have my own frame). they said are anti scratch but 4 months later was totally scratched looks like I was cleaning with a sandpaper. I have a reading glasses from the 99cents store for years with a better quality. 😀 then I asked for replacement because they have a guarantee the girl said I was cleaning the grong way when I have a lot the sun glasses cleaning the same way anyway she said they are going to fix it in a week. Im still waiting after 3 weeks bad service I didnt recommend this place.

Carmel Mountain Vision Care provided me with expired contact lenses and did nothing to help me exchange them. Dr. Sandlers excuse was that he didnt know the contact lenses they prescribed me were discontinued and the provider sent me some leftovers with soon expiration day. The office was unable to handle the issue with the provider and told me to call directly to the manufacturer not even to the provider (distributor) This is unacceptable and shows a lack of care for the customers needs. The customer service was poor and the staff was unhelpful. I do not recommend Carmel Mountain Vision Care to anyone.

I do not recommend this business. I felt like I wasnt valued as a person or customer. I felt like a number.My husband has been going here for 25+ years when it was run by Dr. Cook and he was very happy during that time. I guess things have changed since the new ownership. The first time I went, I waited 20+ minutes in the waiting room and got shooed away twice when I went to check in at the front desk. There was a mix up on my appt times. I thought it was 1:40, they said 1:30. I arrived at 1:35. By the time they actually talked to me it was past 2 p.m. and the Dr didnt have time for me, understandably. I was offered an appointment with another Dr. the next day.I came in the next day and the again, the staff were again too busy to even greet me. There were 2 people behind the desk on the phone as I waited. Maybe they need more front office coverage. I saw the other Dr. - I wont name names. He also wasnt personable and did not like the idea that I didnt automatically agree to some tests he suggested. I told him I would like to look into these tests. Then I got strong armed to their glasses dept. The first two frames I was offered were in the $300-500+ range. My insurance covers $125. The bright spot was the eye wear person, Lupita. When I told here that was way out of my range, she immediately started offering frames in the $100+ range. She was very well versed in the types and prices of the eyewear and it was a pleasure to interact with her.I will not be returning.

The exam and discussion were thorough and the office personnel were pleasant, but what keeps this review from a “5” is that Dr. Sandler said one of the eye pictures was not very good (a test I believe I paid $45 for) and needed to be re-done. It wasn’t re-done which is medically odd for a visit that costs $209.

I have been seen by Dr. Bytompski for many years. She knows me and my history and I can get appointments in a timely manner (unlike my HMO which takes months to get an appointment and I am not really known because of the turnover in physicians). Their equipment and tests are state-of-the-art, so you really know that they’re concerned about the health of your entire visual system and not just your current prescription. Dr. Sandler is always wonderful. The staff this time has made me and my entire family not want to return. I was not asked in advance if I wanted a certain test run and it was an extra cost to me. Every other year I was informed of the cost and opted out it, this year I was not asked and when I said I didnt want that the receptionist said too bad, the doctor explained the results already I paid. I think that was bad business and for a lousy $39 they lost my business after 33 years. My family will not return either.

I have gone there for about 4+ years and the staff has been amazing. I love the high level of care the doctors put into each patients appointment. They truly know how to take care of your need and put the effort into following up with the patient after the appointment. Yesterday was my first visit and I could not have been more happy with my experience. Dr. Cook was very personable and actually seemed interested in getting to know me as a patient. We went through a thorough eye exam and he listened to my concerns regarding my eyes. He addressed each issue individually. I went in with dry/itchy eyes and after 1 drop of his suggested eye drop my eyes immediately felt better! The staff was also very helpful in picking out new glasses. I sat down with a lady who asked questions about my style and helped me find glasses that I wont hate wearing! Wonderful place! I wish my primary MD was this good!!

Taking a 4 year old to an eye exam can be a little challenging but Dr. Bende was really amazing and made him feel very comfortable. She was also generally very nice which made the experience even better. There was no wait time as we arrived which was nice and the clinic itself was small but welcoming. The only reason I give 4 stars instead of 5 was because I felt the nurse before the appointment who performed a few of the tests wasnt that familiar with working with young kids and my son felt a little anxious because of that.

Overall - excellent.Appointment started on time. Very modern and extensive testing equipment, which was expertly organized and managed by Noel. Dr. Cook was professional but with easy manner, explaining things very well. Noel, again, expert and attentive in helping me with frame selection. There was no wait time in the process, but I was also not rushed - it was just right. Billing person was knowledgeable and capable of handling both my flex spend and other payment process (many physician offices struggle with this simple process and ask many questions - this was handled as if it was normal process which is what I expect).

I gave this place 5 stars because there is not option for more. I was so happy with everything: the office (big, modern, spacious, clean), the people (nice, professional and knowledgable) and Dr. Reeder (the best optometrist anyone can have). I only wished I had known about this place earlier. They have a great selection of glasses and styles, and I didnt have to wait at all. The doctor explained everything and spent all the time I needed, responding to my questions, listening to me and making sure I got the right prescription to be able to see the smallest letters possible. Ill keep going here for many many years.

I moved to San Diego a year and a half ago and needed to find a doctor who is Paragon CRT certified. Dr. Reeder is an excellent doctor who is professional, knowledgeable, and friendly. One way that Dr. Reeder has helped me during my visit is showing me a better way to clean my lenses with the Boston cleaner once a week. That has prolonged the life of the lenses (and saves money!). He takes the time with his patients to explain the results and how it impacts their health. He is genuinely interested in getting to know his patients. You will not feel like a number here. I highly recommend Dr. Reeder.My experience with the CRT lenses have exceeded my expectations. I started using them 15 years ago. There are many benefits to using them such as not having to wear contacts or glasses during the day and more importantly, my vision remained the same and has not gotten worse over the years. We live pretty far away from CMVS but I an not exaggerating when I say that I would fly my son across the country if I had to just so Dr. Sandler could be his eye doctor.A quick background, my son had vision that was 20/400 in his left eye due to a condition known as keratoconus and 20/40 in his right eye. This was really impacting his life in a very negative way. After his cross linking surgery (to stop the progression of the disease) we were told that there was no guarantee as to how much his sight could be improved but if we were really really lucky he would have 20/40 to 20/60 vision overall. I was thrilled with that prospect to say the least.We were referred to Dr. Sandler at CMVC and he took an enormous amount of time to answer all of our questions and assure us that he would do everything in his power to fit specialized contact lenses for my son that would reach our goals.His equipment is state of the art and his demeanor and professionalism are exemplary. My children love him and I have to say I have never met a more caring, friendly physician in my life. I knew my sons eyes were in good hands.The real proof of professionalism is in the results though right? I am astounded to say that Dr. Sandler was able to diagnose and fit lenses that restored my sons sight to 20/20! I still feel like I hit the lottery. Just wanted to share my recent experience with Carmel Mountain Vision Care.A bit of history: In February 2008, I had eye exam and new glasses from Carmel Mountain Vision Care. No adjustment was needed for the glasses. Eye exam result: Distance vision = -3.75/-3.50, Near vision = +1.00/+1.00.Fast forward to September 2013, again I had eye exam and new (progressive) glasses from the same shop and the exam result is: Distance vision = -3.50/-3.50, Near vision = +2.00/+2.00. The glasses has anti-reflective and is expensive - I paid ~$400.00 in additional to the insurance payment!Well, this time I had a whole different experience with the new glasses. The first time when I put on the new glasses, it made me so uncomfortable and dizzy so I could not stand up and had to sit down immediately. The new glasses was basically unusable. I stopped by the shop several times and asked for adjustment. No improvement was seen. On one occasion after an optician made an adjustment, it became even worse and I could not even put on the glasses. I was very curious what skill that so-called optician has and what she was doing with the glasses.Eventually they decided to copy the frame size of my old glasses and gave me a new pair of glasses (I need to pay $96.00 more). The 2nd pair was much better and but it still made me uncomfortable and tired. One day I thought the two lenses are not aligned so I lifted one leg a little bit. I cant believe that I feel much better. So I stopped by one more time and told them what seems to be incorrect!Now the issues with the 2nd pair are:1. In a shopping center, items seem too bright and glaring2. In the morning, without glasses, table surface or counter top seems to be level. With glasses, table surface does not seem level anymore and the RIGHT side is obviously higher. However, in the evening, without glasses, it is the LEFT side of the table surface seems much higher! So why?3. At night, oncoming vehicle headlights appear too bright and traffic lights have starburstsFor those who are going to have progressive glasses, beware these potential problems and have good luck.

Doc Reeder changed my life. I have a form of keratoconus called PMD, and had previously thought that having comfortable, perfect vision was impossible. Today, I have 20-15 vision with contacts that fit beautifully, and prescription glasses that I can use which is usually unheard of with my condition.
