I went to the Carbon Health facility in Berkeley on a Saturday afternoon as the Alameda offices were closed. I received excellent treatment for ear wax removal. The wait time was minimal. The nurse who did the ear wax removal was courteous, competent and did a great job. Her supervisor also examined me prior to and after the treatment. She also was friendly & knowledgeable. The receptionist handled my appointment & insurance information, she was also congenial. I lucked out with the staff on duty for my visit.

My complaints are more so with their billing department. Service and staff were always polite and timely. They’ve repeatedly botched one visit in particular for routine testing; billed the wrong insurance & tried to say that was my fault when their app has my correct insurance time stamped on the date of the appointment. After finally billing the correct insurance (approx. 14 months later) they continue to send me “bills” that my insurance has no record of. Additionally when going to said payment portal their system acknowledges I have paid in full. I just want them to stop sending me mail!

Great neighborhood clinic! Ive only been for routine screenings but they offer primary care and urgent care as well. Wait times can be longer than expected due to their size but staff members are all very professional and kind and see you as soon as possible.

I had some urgent matters that needed to be addressed and I went through three urgent cares until I got to carbon health urgent. All the rest took super long to receive me. I was in and out in Carbon health in about 30 minutes thumbs up for the professionalism and service.

I just moved to Berkeley and saw Dr. Kwan for an annual physical. He and his staff are extremely professional. He efficiently but thoroughly went through options and opinions as to how to handle various borderline issues. By the time I left, I had appointments for lab work, names for an ophthalmologist and audiologist and prescriptions waiting for me at the pharmacy. I feel very well cared for!

Carbon Health is clean and reasonably efficient. I saw Nurse Practitioner Lilian, who was as good as my best experiences with the health care system. Warm, gentle, informative and thorough, I feel like I had been examined by someone at the top of her game.

Ive seen Carbon Care a few times over the years--for routine medical tests as well as Urgent Care for sore throat and once for a truly terrifying spider bite. Theyve always had appointments right away, been kind and efficient, and helped resolve issues needing medication seamlessly. I seriously cant recommend them enoug!

I went to get a COVID 19 Travel Test from this location in December of 2021. Everything seemed fine and I paid in full for the visit.However in December of 2023 (two years after my appointment) They charged my credit card for an additional $195 for a service I never received.Ive been trying to get this resolved but it took them months to get back to me. In fact I am still messaging them about that charges from care I never received, and they are refusing to refunded my card.If you are considering going here: dont. They spend fraudulent bills, years later, right before Christmas in an attempt to get you to miss the charges. If you have been to this office please check your records.

Im not really sure I was sick enough for Urgent Care, I havent been sick in a long time (knock on wood) and suddenly I had the worst sore throat, nothing worked to fix it, so I got scared and Ubered over. Nobody trivialized my complaint even though Im sure theyve seen it a thousand times. 2 quick tests for strep/flu were negative, but a nice follow-up of tests, just in case it was something more serious. I was in and out in 15 minutes, told to do OTC drugs, I knew that, and hydrate, also knew that. But everything was so crisp, professional and re-assuring, just what I needed. BTW: Appointment on the web within a hour was perfect.

Works as an urgent care clinic. Do not expect good service beyond that. They like to emphasize how you can use their messaging service for follow up questions and support after the appointment, but that is basically a sham.The only thing that their follow up support chat is good for is having the robot (named Carby) try to upsell you for another appointment. Heres some of the conversation Ive had since my appointment, where the doctor prescribed an antibiotic which hasnt made me feel better, and during which the doctor also recommended Flonase and Neti Pot.Note that the only human reply they mustered was essentially a repeat of the recommendation theyd given me, and didnt answer my questions about the efficacy of the antibiotic and what that meant for further treatment.I recognize Im being a complainer here, but I also feel compelled to leave a review so that others dont get misled about their nonexistent follow up support.Edit: They sent me to their Carbon X Ray facility specifically to determine if I needed more antibiotics. Didnt hear back by the next morning as promised. When I complained, they told me the X Ray machine was malfunctioning and they couldnt read my results.Instead of offering an alternate X Ray option, they just decided to try to put me on 2 more antibiotics. Not confidence inspiring. Felt like a shot in the dark. Even mentioned that there was a 10% chance Id be allergic to one of the antibiotics that was prescribed.I decided to go pay for an X Ray at a 3rd party imaging center, and now Im in limbo once again because no one at Carbon has opened the radiologists report about it. I cant even see their diagnosis on my own until someone at Carbon acts.No one has replied to my messages begging for help.

I am so grateful to Carbon Health! They took me right in last night even though I showed up 10 minutes before closing without an appointment. Tyson was amazing. He saw me quickly and not only prescribed the antibiotics I needed, but also supplied them for me onsite so I didnt need to make a separate stop at my painfully slow pharmacy. Carbon Health is definitely my go-to!

The RN’s seem very nice and I would suggest this location for Urgent Care needs. That being said, one of the resident phlebotomists was frustrated and rude that I had small veins. After being dismissive when I mentioned this was an issue I’ve encountered in the past, she poked my arm (painfully) then begrudgingly sent me to a low-reviewed lab. That was a very odd experience

I am very happy to have Dr Kwan as my primary physician. He is very knowledgeable and actually cares about my health /and does a great job following up on my health plan and next steps.Also I found the office and staff very effective and responsive.

And this was for an appointment for the final round of a vaccine that it turns out they no longer do in the office but neglected to tell me. So I paid hundreds of dollars for them to tell me they couldnt treat me.

I handed the receptionist my Insurance card and she affirmed that I was in network for a primary care visit. Mind you this was simply an appointment to say hello and meet a new doctor. Now I have a huge bill due to it not being in network. The experience with the doctor was fine but reception and customer service via phone call were totally lousy.

We experienced medical malpractice at this location. For your own sake, avoid it at all costs!My partner booked an appointment to get a COVID-19 and Flu test. They swabbed her and said she’d receive test results by the end of the day, but the results never came. When we called the next morning, they said the practitioner didn’t run her test results. The practitioner also lied and said she told my partner that they were not going to run the test results - they told her no such thing! Finally, they refused to offer a refund for the $200 appointment despite us not getting the test results.I’m extremely disappointed that Carbon Health employs practitioners who lie about the care they provide to customers. I’m further disappointed that they refuse to make such a basic mistake right by providing us a refund. It’s clear they don’t care about patients and only about maximizing profit.Please, DO NOT COME HERE. Read the most recent reviews on Yelp, they’re all 1-star reviews that include stories of astounding malpractice and poor service. I wish we had read those reviews before coming here :(

A terrible experience after learning I had shingles, which is a totally unexpected diagnosis since I am young. The NP was super rude and dismissive and didnt want to answer questions, she instead directed me to an article on google. When she finally came back to take questions, her answers about the contagiousness of the condition were not consistent with the article she told me to read. She was in a total rush to move on, and it was unsatisfactory care. I would never recommend Carbon Health after this - if I was supposed to rely on the internet then why am I paying to come to a clinic.Front desk and medical assistant were polite and helpful

Dr. Chun and his staff was just fantastic and took time to explain what I needed to do so I felt at ease. I was not rushed and Dr. Chun explained why he was recommending some tests in a positive way. I was able to ask questions and he took time answering some repetitive questions. I am glad I came here!

HORRIBLE experience back in March. Waited 2 hours to be seen despite having an appointment, and NP that day immediately dismissed the health concerns as BUG BITES and was extremely condescending. She did not give us any opportunities to ask question basically had to talk over her if we wanted to say something. Had this been correctly taken care of, we would not have had to go to the emergency room a few days later. UNPROFESSIONAL, INCONSIDERATE, AND AVOID.

Ive been to this location twice, and have had good experiences. The providers have taken time to listen to my concerns, and collaborate with me about my plan for treatment, and are responsive regarding follow up concerns. There have been occasional delays in being seen, but they are acknowledged by the staff with apologies.I will return for my urgent care needs.

The front desk had me write a health history regarding my chief complaint and I even proceeded to elaborate on it in the exam room with the NP and I could just tell she was not listening. She did not introduce herself officially with her name or title when she entered, either, which I think is extremely important to know who is even treating me.I came in for two separate issues that I, personally, felt were related. Both the MA and NP emphasized to me that “this is urgent care, we need to know which one you want to be seen for.” Even if this was a fair remark, to completely cancel a second possibly related issue is not right before even speaking to me about the full picture.I understand this is urgent care, but urgent care clinics are still run by licensed clinicians who are seeing patients, ready to give care. The NP’s bedside manner was so condescending with verbiage like “I’ve told you three times…” I felt like she was growing impatient with me when I was asking simple, IMPORTANT questions, and proceeded to make it a point that she had 18 years of ED experience. It felt like she was hurrying to end the visit. A terrible impression from the start, leaving me feeling stupid and not reassured.All in all, what needed to be done was done. I am a well-seasoned nurse myself and have worked with plenty of doctors and their personalities and it is extremely frustrating and unprofessional that healthcare continues to be like this, regardless of urgent care, ED, PCP setting. As patients, we are coming to you in need of something. Basic bedside manner of patience and active listening would be appreciated.

Avoid this location at all costs!I paid $200 for an appointment to get a COVID-19 and Flu test. At my appointment, I was swabbed and told I would receive my test results for Flu within 8-10 minutes and for COVID-19 within 6-8 hours. However, I never received my results that day. When I called the next morning to ask about my results, I was informed that the practitioner never ran my test results. Furthermore, the practitioner lied and said they told me (during my appointment) that they were not going to run the test results. The practitioner never told me this, and it’s frankly astounding that they lied about their actions to cover up their mistake of failing to run my test results.The only reason I paid $200 for my appointment at Carbon Health was to get tested for Flu and COVID-19. I did not receive test results for either, so my money was essentially stolen. Additionally, I have an immunocompromised partner, so getting these test results as soon as possible was critical for us to make informed decisions about how to keep him safe. The failure to provide my test results after swabbing me is bad enough - lying about it is even worse and absolutely unconscionable.So please, do yourself a favor and avoid this Carbon Health location at all costs!!! The care is terrible, the service is bad, and they are only interested in exploiting you for as much money as possible, not in getting you the care you actually need. A health provider that employs practitioners who lie should not be operating at all.

Was more than pleasantly surprised with Carbon Health Berkeley. Made an appointment same day and was seen with no rigamarole or wait. Staff were efficient, thorough, and pleasant, and the service was top-notch. Received my labs via a text link, and the entire visit had been captured on their web portal so that I have full reference to it when I see my regular GP and can fill him in.Its what I think most people would imagine a 21st-century doctors visit should be like.

I keep getting bills for a visit I had a year ago when I had insurance. They never told me I had to pay some of it myself, and they didnt explain the costs either.Ive emailed them four times in the past two months asking for clarification, but no one has replied. They keep sending me the bill and threatening to send it to collections without telling me why I owe this money. I tried calling, but no one picks up. I have been so impressed by Carbon Health in Berkeley and my primary physician, Dr. Kwan Chun. He is intelligent, proactive, and direct. Always ahead of my needs for upcoming vaccinations or important health screenings.Last night, I was super sick and unable to sleep due to upper respiratory problems, and the Carbon Health app was so easy to navigate in order to make an appointment. Carbon Health is my go urgent care when my primary care DR is not available. The staff is professional they listen to your health concerns and don’t just treat your symptoms. The Berkeley office is the one I use and Jessica & the PA Jennifer will comfort you through out your visit. The grand ave location in Oakland offers the same care.

I accompanied my 20 year old son, who suffers from Social Anxiety Disorder and Severe Anxiety to his appointment. This was our first time visiting this facility. Front reception was extremely rude. She was sick, wheezing, and coughing without a mask and covering. This is first and foremost unacceptable and indicative of a poor medical practice. She also blatantly lied to me--she told me the wait would be an hour and a half. Great. I came back in an hour and a half. Then I waited for another 45 minutes--I asked for an update. She said it would be another 20 minutes before I got helped. Someone in the back told her it was closer to 1-2 hours. I could hear her. She came back to tell me that it was 20 minutes. I told her that I had heard the lady earlier and asked if I could take care of a personal emergency and come back in 20-30. She refused to allow me to leave the room and said they would skip me. I reiterated I would be back at me. She started berating at me and yelling about policy. Anywhere that has sick angry receptionists should have their liscence revoked.

There was a wait, of course, and making an appointment over the phone seems to guarantee a scheduling debacle (did for me, hence the 4/5) but otherwise I was impressed by the care, consideration, and knowledge of the staff. While, I was waiting on another. Patient came in and got upset, loud, and complaining to the point where the manager had to come out and ask her to please be respectful and quieter. The manager handled it very well. However, the patient was upset because when she showed up with her elderly father, she was asked to provide documentation on previous Covid vaccines for each of them. She was surprised by this request, and her complaint was that nobody had told her ahead of time. she had a legitimate complaint. I know for myself that I was surprised by the question as well. I was fortunate that I had the documentation on my phone electronically. I received many texts from carbon health about my appointment before hand, and not one of them mentioned the need to bring documentation about previous Covid vaccines. It would be a very simple matter for carbon health to tell patients to do that before their appointment in their texts. Other than that, my experience was very good.

Been there multiple times for both me and my girlfriend and we both were treated with such insincerity and very impersonable. Going in you feel very much like a number and a burden and not a patient. When it comes to their medical practices it seems very unprofessional and barley hanging on by a thread. When the PAs and nurses discuss private information about patients and themselves they leave the doors wide open so when i was in the waiting room i could hear everybodys personal information. I know there is always corporate issues but man, it seems like that shouldnt be an excuse for having a less than exceptional facility to these areas.

I had a fever, had a positive home covid test, and wanted to know if there was anything more I could do. I got a same-day appointment at Carbon on their website in a location close to my home. I waited maybe 5 minutes to see the medical staff, and was very well taken care of. They administered a second test to confirm my at-home test. They spent time with me explaining what to expect, and answered all my questions. I would definitely recommend this to anyone in need of urgent care.

Overall efficient: my appointment for lab work was for 9 am, and I was out the door by 9:30. However, there were a couple of negative experiences that meant I cant quite leave 5 stars. First, they tell you to show up ten minutes early to complete paperwork, but they didnt let anyone in until just before 9 am -- so I wasted ten minutes outside in the rain. If your appointment is near opening: show up on time or a little late, not early.Second, I wanted to find out if their pharmacy had a particular (hard to find) vaccine in stock but they just referred me to book an appointment with their primary care department. This was after a member of their staff had told me online to inquire at urgent care. Id have been fine making an appointment with primary care *if* I knew they had the vaccine (or could refer me to a provider who did), but I dont want to take time off work to then ultimately not get the vaccine. Seems like their different departments just dont really communicate or know whats going on with each other.

This place is not equipped for urgent care. The staff was friendly enough, particularly the front desk and doctor.When i took my 89 year old grandmother, we gave them a long list of symptoms, but since none were visible they weren’t even written down.The front desk kept denying there could be something wrong (just drink some water, you need fiber, etc, without even asking her diet). Are they even allowed to give a diagnosis like this? Her symptoms were either not written down or were wrong. They even wrote the wrong reason why we came in.Also weird there weren’t any Covid precautions in a medical facility?When her vitals showed a scary high heart rate they said “it’s the machine, not you”. The new machine confirmed the first test.Why would they begin by assuming their machine is broken? Seems like the bare minimum to make sure you’re accurately treating patients.It wasn’t until the doctor physically checked her heart that they believed it (again, we told them already that she has a heart condition) and then just told us to go to the ER because they had no equipment to run any tests.Maybe that’s normal at some places to have limited machines. I don’t know if it’s normal to ignore symptoms and make assumptions before even running the most basic tests. If we were believed from the beginning we could have just gone directly to the ER. She could be experiencing heart failure and because what, she didn’t look like it, it so it must be because she didn’t drink enough water?The whole thing was weird and felt more like playing pretend than actual urgent care.

This was probably my worst experience with a health care facility. Everything went wrong from beginning to the end.Tang Center had referred me to this clinic to check something that could have required urgent treatment. After waiting for about one hour in CH waiting room, I was finally able to see a doctor. The visit lasted 10 minutes, in which the doctor had no idea of what my issue was, and went on speculating. The conclusion was that it is really hard to say what this is and its best to just wait.He also prescribed me some allergy treatment that had no real connection with what I was having (nothing serious in the end), but was no harm to try...I later went to a pharmacy in Berkeley to pick up the prescription, only to find out that the Carbon Health had directed my prescription to a wrong pharmacy, located in San Francisco. I did not have time to drive to SF because I was about to miss a flight. The Berkeley pharmacy had to make several calls to Carbon Health and to my insurance to redirect the prescription to their pharmacy (lets not forget, all this was for some allergy pills that I really did not need). In other words, I wasted most of my day and almost missed my flight.Cherry on top: five moths later, I receive a bill of 230$ (originally 720, kindly discounted to 230) for this visit. Why? Because Carbon Health had billed the wrong insurance, which of course had denied the claim. Hours spent on the phone with both Carbon Health and my insurance finally led to the refund of the 230$ (that had already been taken from my card!).I knew health clinics could be bad, but I would never have thought they could be that bad. Please avoid if you can.

My friend went to get tested for strep throat and she had to get tested three times. The first time she had to go back because the staff threw away her swab. The second time they said she might have a positive for strep throat but couldnt tell because they spilled something on it. She had to go a third time to actually get a test done properly. Love this place! Only had one bad experience where the doctor/technician/staff mentioned they could do this job drunk while openly staring at my chest. Thankfully I havent been paired with that person since.Highly recommend to schedule and appointment during the week where they have more staff in the facility. On the weekend they might have 2 people, so expect 1-2 hour wait time to be seen and even longer if there is are emergency patients. Overall the front desk staff is always a delight and welcoming and so are the doctor/technician/staff that have helped me!

Update: in addition to having poor tech, Carbon is an unethical company that’s out to bill patients as much as possible. I scheduled an annual exam with Carbon, which is covered by my insurance. I confirmed this online and verbally confirmed this when I arrived. To my surprise, I received a bill a few weeks later. When I reached out to their billing team, they said it was coded incorrectly and will be resolved so disregard the bill. Without any update or notice after this communication, the charge went through on my card a week later. I reached out again, and they said that my visit was not qualified as an annual exam, so I had to pay out of pocket. The reason was that I had other symptoms I asked the doctor to diagnosis. Isn’t that the point of a general exam? It seems if you are not perfectly healthy during your general exam visit, be prepared to be slammed with a bill. Carbon should stay in their lane of urgent care, as they are inept to branch into the primary care space.I expected a seamless experience, but it has been a complete waste of time. To expedite my first visit, I signed up for an online account through the Carbon app and completed a plethora of forms regarding my health (about 1.5 hours before my appointment). When my appointment was approaching, I received messages on the app from the team asking for forms to be completed, and they were the exact ones that I had completed not too long ago. (I did not, as I did not want to waste my time on a malfunctioning tech platform). During my appointment, I was repeatedly asked questions I had already answered in my forms (ex. COVID vaccines and dates). After my visit, I continued to receive messages on the app from the team to complete forms I had already completed. No one can answer my questions as to where my previously completed forms went. Overall, Carbon Health is selling the illusion of being a tech-oriented medical platform, but in actuality creates much more inefficiency and wasted time. It would have been better for me to use a traditional health care provider and answer the questions once in-person, as opposed to being tricked into thinking I was saving time only to waste more of it. The visit itself was okay.

How can this place be opened? The front lady has no compassion for sick patients. My son lost his PPO insurance card and I advised him to go to this clinic since he is away from home studying at BERKLEY UNIVERSITY. My son went there for food poisoning and the front lady too preoccupied about money she THREATENED my son to rescheduled for 2 days because he did not have the physical card with him. DID SHE CALL THE INSURANCE? NO. That lady needs to be fired for screaming and threatening berkeley students to reschedule when they go there because they are in pain. Where is the compassion? is this place there to treat sick students or just to act too condescending? I used to have faith in this place but after today I will make sure nobody in my family goes here. This place should close their doors if they are going to treat people like this. Fast, friendly, easy. Visiting family in Oakland and our son got sick. Went online and found Carbon Health urgent care was located nearby. Made an appointment online for the next morning. Filled out all paperwork and signed documents online. All we had to do was show up for the appointment, no paperwork to complete at the office since that was done when I made the appointment. We were seen quickly. Service providers were professional, friendly, and made my son, my husband and myself feel at ease. When I didn’t see improvement with my son’s health the next day I got the Carbon Health app on my phone and messaged a service provider with my questions. I got immediate response and felt much better. This feature of immediate text response is awesome and so much appreciated. While I had to wait a month to see my PCP, I had an appointment for Urgent Care here within 24 hours. Once you have an appointment, there are no long lines and I was seen by doctor/PA within 15 minutes of my appointment. Be VERY careful about what you go to Carbon Health for. If you are attempting to go here for something that is not truly urgent, like one of the many panels and tests they may enthusiastically offer as part of their primary care but make no distinction between, youll likely be billed by Carbon as urgent care (unless its an annual physical), and then left uncovered by your insurance as non urgent procedure at an urgent care facility. Went in to the Berkeley branch for pain related to my fractured ankle. Everyone was great, I was there for three hours but was very lucky that Fletcher (ultrasound mgr) was there to do an ultrasound. He was very thorough and explained everything I saw on the video. Looks like I may have a superficial clot in the calf and he ordered a blood test, put me on aspirin and a follow up ultrasound. He followed up every day to see how I was doing, I never had a medical professional that was so conscientious and caring! He gave me so much good information too. Inexplicably slow turnaround on messages, paperwork, and processes that should be very straightforward. The carbon health online interface is quite well done, containing an ostensibly convenient chat feature. However, the staff members either fail to give a careful read of previous messages to understand the patients situation thoroughly or are so cognitively incompetent that they cannot understand what the patients issue is and what next action needs to be taken. I suspect that it is a combination of both.It takes days for a simple message from me to be answered. Sometimes, nobody answers my message at all! It just slips through the chain of command entirely, and not a single employee therein catches it! After my first visit, I was told that they were essentially two tests that I should do to investigate my condition and that after that, next steps, such as a referral, could be taken. These two tests have taken DOZENS of messages from me to sort out, and it has taken two months—more than 60 days—to get only partially through the process of continuing care with a specialist. Even this morning, I received a message clearly indicating that staff did not understand the reasons why the referral that they sent on my behalf was incomplete and the reasons why their multiple referral attempts even before that had been invalid. Meanwhile, Ive been suffering immensely for two whole months.The reviews on Google Maps are inflated because of the cheery, nonchalant auto-prompt within the carbon health interface that pops up asking patients to leave a positive review. Plenty of people just spend a few seconds clicking 5 stars because theyre being asked casually. All in all, the primary care follow-up ability here and the attention to detail of the staff are abysmal, as has trended to be the case in a post-pandemic, job-seekers market.In contrast to the incompetent administrative staff, Dr. Kwan Chun was fantastically attentive and relatively insightful compared to PCPs whom I have experienced in the past.

Feel great having a high quality Urgent Care facility that has great hours. I was going to be away for the whole day Monday and just slightly worried about a situation so I went in Sunday evening around 6:40 and was out of there by 7:10 pm. They recommended a follow up 36 to 48 hours later with either my primary care dr or them so I went back to them figuring on short notice it was better and I had an appointment for first thing Tuesday. On both occasions the registration, nursing, and doctors were fantastic. I felt very confident they were being very thorough. What they treated was bleeding from a varicose vein that I thought might have been caused by insect bite but turned out to be a small cut/opening on very dry skin a few inches above the ankle. They made great recommendations on keeping that skin better moisturized and on issues I would want to bring up with my primary care and specialist doctors. From my two visits, I would highly recommend this location without question!

I went in to Carbon Health because I had COVID symptoms that were much stronger than I expected since I was vaccinated and boosted. After 10 days of COVID I felt exhausted and had some worrying chest congestion and laryngitis that completely took my voice away. The team at Carbon Health, esp Fletcher Munksgard, were super helpful. They did several tests to rule out any serious complications and reassured me that some people take a while to get better. I’m frustrated with the need to continue to miss work and rest but the team was super helpful and friendly. Fletcher continued to follow up with me over the next few weeks and over tips that may help with my recovery. I’ve never had a doctor actually message me to follow up I don’t think ever so the personal touch was very welcome during a particularly scary health experience.Only thing to improve is that I got a chest x ray in their office and never heard back about the results. The X-ray is not associated with my charts anywhere and appears to be lost which is a bit frustrating.

I visited Direct Urgent Care once, because I had severe upper abdomen pain. My overall experience was not good, because it took TOO LONG to follow up with my doctor.First, I think there are a lot good things here:1. Fantastic experience. I was recommended this place by my PCP after they couldnt get me an appointment until late afternoon but knew I needed to be seen sooner. I arrived right as they opened at 10am and was in and out within 50 minutes with an antibiotics prescription called out to my usual pharmacy for pick-up within an hour. She took the time to listen to me and what was bothering me.I was trying to rush through everything and she stated,” No Rush” we have time. This was totally so much more than I expected. I came in with a sharp pain in my lower right rib, l I had previously had a telehealth visit with another physician before this. I was prescribed a medication that had not been working on me. After the examination, the physician at carbon gave me the same diagnosis and told me to keep taking the same medication, basically everything I had heard before the problem had worsened. I was visibly upset because I want to get better, and the physician goes, “Why do you seem disappointed?” In an extremely condescending manner. Maybe because I’m in pain and have told you this treatment has not worked for me. He seemed to imply I was trying to receive another medication for other purposes than getting better. Dont go here for COVID testing! They may have more availability and can get you in sooner than other places (no one wants to go there), but you won’t get your results in time, if ever.They send out the tests to an external lab for analysis, which supposedly takes 3-5 business days. I’ve never received my results. Compare this to other testing facilities where the turnaround time is 24-48 hours.They force you to give them credit card information upon check in, although the test is supposed to be free. If you refuse, they wont check you in. Also you are required to download and use their app to do virtual consultation with their doctor before the testing, “it’s a required procedure because they are an urgent care center”, and also to check your test results.I suspect, in the back, they are charging your insurance or primary health provider an obscene amount of money for all of this.Not worth the hassle and delayed results. Dont give them your business, even if your insurance is paying for it; rip off.

Fantastic service! We arrived w/o an appointment, and was told the wait could be up to two hours but could be as little as an hour, and if we left our phone number, theyd give us a call. We signed in, left a number, went down to the corner for a coffee, and received a call 30 minutes later.We went in, were attended to by a couple of folks to check vitals and a very competent and kind nurse practitioner, got a recommendation on what to do and a prescription and got out of there, all in a total of an hour and 10 or 15 minutes.They took our insurance, and we paid our normal co-pay. If it werent for the COVID paranoid folks who insist on being tested every two weeks the wait time would be much shorter. But the clinic responsibly takes measures to space folks out and the rooms are disinfected after each patient. Doctors/staff are generous with the time they spend with you. The first NP I saw took the time to recommend I see another doctor at the Berkeley clinic to help me with plantar fasciitis issues and called to make me a same day appointment. What that doctor did to my feet had remarkable effect. Dude and treatment was awesome!

We needed urgent COVID testing and Carbon made the process nearly seamless. Scheduling was done in minutes online, minimal contact during our test visits was great. I had my physician consult via the app and then was swabbed by an MA. My child was attended in person by a caregiver. We were visiting the Berkeley area during the holidays from out of state. The clinic location was convenient ( street parking available), signing in and checking in was fast and intuitive. The visit itself was efficient as we were seen right at the exact appointed time; the PA listened to us and focused on the symptoms that we brought up. She considered my husband’s preexisting conditions and prescribed the most reasonable remedy. We were able to pick up the prescription at the CVS a couple of blocks away. I went to Carbon for an X-ray. I made an appointment, and once I was there I was seen very quickly. Check-in, X-ray and results took no more than about an hour. It usually takes that long just to check into a hospital emergency room. This was such a better experience. If you need walk-in medical care, I recommend Carbon. Make an appointment first.

My grandparents were charged $250 each for a same day RT-PCR Covid Test, which isnt even listed on their website. They gave us an electronic receipt for $195 each when we paid in card then had us pay $110 for the both of them in cash and we didnt even get a receipt, which we need for insurance purposes. I was in and out within 30 minutes, for a COVID-19 test. You have to bring ID and insurance info the first time and then they have it on file thereafter.COVID-19 testing is covered no matter what but if you do not disclose your insurance you might have problems down the road. So its better to tell them what health insurance coverage you have, even if you think it wont cover anything.

It happened time this past weekend and I visited Direct Urgent Care.The staff was friendly, the office clean and organized, and I was seen in under 20 minutes even though I had no appointment. 2 hours of fiasco, Carbon Health saying there is 6 refills of Albuterol asthma inhaler refills waiting at pharmacy, pharmacy saying no and printing out how prescriptions are expired, going back to Carbon Health, they swear up and down theyve got it fixed this time and prescriptions are waiting for me. Back to pharmacy, doctor has sent refills for wrong medication, not Albuterol but some very expensive inhaled steroid. At this point Im done, I wouldnt recommend Carbon Health to death row inmates, they are incompetent. Its super unfortunate that the most competent people there are the nurse/med techs, they should find some place else to work because Carbon Health will stain their careers.

When I told the lady at the counter that we had to leave because we had been waiting too long, she just said Ok. Her body language was like Whatever. When I used to work customer service and something like that happened, common courtesy would be to say something like Sorry for the wait or for your inconvinience. It takes forever to get the prescription redirected to another pharmacy. You can not talk with your provider directly, all you can do is contact the front desk, which means every time you call, you speak with a different person, you explain everything all over again, hoping this time it would work. They will give you an illusion that theyre working on it, but actually not. The Carbon health app isnt helpful either, you can not talk with your provider. You only receive one-way messages from them. Ive been stucked on this small things for 2 weeks, making numerous calls to pharmacy, carbon health, insurance, what I need is just to get the providers prior authorization form, so that my prescription can be transferred--but carbon health just insist they are waiting for the insurance to do that, while the insurance insist its providers responsibility to submit the form. THIS IS SOOOOO STUPID.

Dont try to get walk-in COVID testing done here, they honestly shouldnt even advertise a service that is so difficult to actually access because of a very tight quota. From my experience and discussions, I think you have to arrive at exactly 9am or 1:30pm to have a shot. For the first time in my life Id say the government is doing walk in locations that are better organized and more pleasant than this private company! I came in at about 7:30 (half an hour before their close time), and was seen as soon as I filled out the paperwork (less than 10 minutes). The process was very fast, including xray and EKG. I was correctly diagnosed and all got billed to insurance - but even if insurance does not cover any of it, the total cost is not outrageous like the ER (less than $250). Street parking can be tricky to find but I have always been able to find a spot within a few blocks, and the nurses are very fast and friendly. Considering my GP didnt have availability for 2 weeks and even recommended this place as an alternative, I would definitely come back!

I was referred here from a Good Samaritan who wanted to help me through a situation involving covid and flying to Hawaii to see my family. He related to my situation and suggested I go to Carbon. I then was able to get my test and hopefully see my family back home.When I visited Carbon, I felt like I was in a hospital that Apple designed. It was chic and the process there was streamlined. Within 20minutes of hanging out at the lobby I found myself at an appointment to get an absolutely free test for covid. I did not realize that a clinic like this existed, it was amazing! This facility is about 500% better than our local ER in all respects: staff are pleasant, friendly, and efficient; clinicians are experienced and knowledgeable. Appointments can be made and are closely adhered to (no more 5-hour minimum spent in an ER). A wide variety of tests and meds are on hand and the goal is clearly to satisfy the patient.

I received a COVID PCR test from Carbon Health centre and received the Negative result at 11:14 am, about one hour after being tested. This was very good for me at the time but unfortunately, 72 hours and 7 minutes too long before my flight from Seattle to Canada. Your clinic, myself and my relatives all counted the 7 am flight time leaving Oakland as part of the 72 hour period but I forgot that it was actually at 11:21 am three days later that I would be boarding the next stage of the flight from Seattle to Vancouver. The Airlines refused my boarding so I had to pay for another PCR Covid test at Seattle airport (higher cost of USD $200) and to pay for a night in a Seattle hotel before I could get back to Vancouver. I was over the 72 hour test period that is the Canadian entry requirement by 7 MINUTES! I have learned the hard way the importance of taking careful note of that 72 hour test limit to enter Canada.

I’m probably never going to another Carbon Health again, but especially not this one. I went in for a routine ear washing due to wax build-up. I’ve had this done at other clinics and have never had an issue. The nurse at this clinic was extremely forceful when she sprayed the solution into my ear. I winced and squirmed in my seat several times because it was so painful. I’ve now had ringing in my right ear for three days, which probably means there’s been damage of some kind (I returned two days later and they tried to convince me that this sometimes happens if the canal gets irritated. Again, I’ve never had this problem with past ear washes). Hopefully my hearing isn’t permanently damaged, but I won’t be returning at any rate.
