I had an appointment scheduled at 12pm with the staff here. I’ve now been waiting one hour to be seen for an ear infection that I’m in incredible pain for. The staff decided to take a lunch break as there are people waiting to be seen. This is a disappointing experience because there is no communication and I feel like we’ve been shrugged off for a lunch break. It’s unfortunate that this is the situation- I will be reaching out to corporate and perusing a formal complaint with the company in response to this treatment.Update: I called to speak with their customer service team at the 888 number. The customer service rep was disappointed and surprised that this is happening. She tried to get in contact with the staff over lunch and there was no response. I asked this to be sent to a manager, district manager and whomever is in charge of this particular clinic. Please see the photo of the time and when I had checked in for reference.Update #2: The urgent care doctor and nurse let me know that the scheduling system somehow had a glitch and is over booking them. They are trying their best in this situation.Update #3: The manager reached out to me to say that the staff should have stayed on the clock to make sure that everyone was taken care of before leaving for lunch. He let me know that this isnt the way that things are supposed to be and he apologized for any type of frustration. This clinic hasnt had a manager for a while and hes new to the clinic. Hes working on getting things together. Also the front desk person that was working then isnt actually from this clinic. Shes a helper and she was literally SO mean to other clients.

I changed health insurance coverage for 2024. When I selected my new primary care provider on the insurance website, I saw that the PCP practiced at Carbon Health at both Alameda and Berkeley in CA. That’s how I became acquainted with Carbon Health in Alameda. Turns out I made a fortunate choice. The Carbon Health website states they provide smart, hassle-free Primary and Urgent Care, but there are other things worth mentioning. The physical office itself is very impressive. The waiting area has high ceilings with natural light coming from picture windows. There are comfortable designer chairs placed well apart, and everything is immaculately clean. There is plenty of parking right out front. And they are located in the middle of a huge shopping center! Appointment scheduling and check-in was easy as was navigating their website. And my new PCP is the kind of medical professional I’d been hoping for. I highly recommend Carbon Health.

I really can’t say enough good things about my experiences with Carbon Health. It starts with not having to wait. I’m taken in within 5 minutes after I arrive and the doctor is in shortly after my blood pressure is taken. I’m very pleased with Dr. Hira as he is sincerely concerned with my health - taking time to explain everything and answer my questions. All of the staff are very nice and want to assure my needs are met. I don’t think you could design it any better.

I made an appointment at the Alameda location for my sick son on a Saturday. Carbon sent me a confirmation for the day and sent me reminders a few minutes before my appointment. I dragged my my sick son, out of bed, and drove to the location only to find the location closed. Unprofessional and totally unacceptable that this business is accepting and confirming appointments for locations that are closed. I have only had positive experiences in the past but this is unacceptable. Hard for a multi-million dollar operation to recover from such an egregious error.

I was very well taken care of throughout my visit. I had mistakenly made an appointment at another location and the team promptly accepted me as a walk in and cancelled the other appointment.During my visit my vitals were taken with a great deal of tlc. The Nurse Practitioner was beyond helpful and kind. I continue to be impressed with the care given at this location. Well Done Team!

Dr. Hira took the time to research and read my very complicated medical history. While it seems that is the social norm of what a Physician should do, my experiences with other Physicians have produced questions such as do you still have Cancer? My chart clearly indicates I am in remission. Questions Ive been asked were telltale indications that none of my chart had been read. It means something to have caring in what you do, and Dr. Hira and all the staff show you they care. Not tell you they care. Show you they care. If I have any criticism it would be your lobby is much too bright. Huge open windows and all white walls make it almost blinding. But thats it. Thank you!

Communication was very poor at this clinic. I came in for a TB test. The tech did not check my paperwork even though I brought it to their attention. I got the test then went back for the follow up. I showed the provider my paperwork, and they said I hadn’t even needed a TB test. I asked for a document confirming negative as well as the sign off on the document I brought in for volunteer requirements. I got home and the document was still incorrect.

Very confusing interaction with this place, I was contacted by a collection agency with a bill for over $400 for Quest Diagnostic. When I called to clarify they said I had signed an out of network acknowledgement, but when pressed they have nothing signed by me. Extremely disappointing, no one seems to help. They are just arguing that insurance didnt cover it and that is why I owe Quest without any form of confirmation.

I scheduled an appointment with Carbon Health Urgent & Primary Care Alameda (Alameda Landing) at the end of September 2023, and the subsequent experience has been incredibly frustrating. Despite my patience and multiple follow-ups via the chat platform and phone, the service provided by the staff has left me feeling more like another bill to generate revenue than a patient in need of care. Ive been working with Brenda E., Cynthia S., Ranine H., and Dr. Ajay Hira. It appears to take a good deal of effort for both me and my pharmacist to get anyone on the phone at their facility.Regrettably, my file has been mishandled at almost every step of the way to include: missing prescriptions, missing referrals, incomplete testing, and broken agreements to follow-up in a timely manner to name a few examples. As we approach December 2023, I still find myself grappling with these issues. Although the staff is friendly, their assistance has been far from helpful. Promised follow-ups on missing information have not materialized, and as a result, my prescriptions are running out, posing a significant danger to my health if not addressed promptly.I was informed that delays were attributed to staffing shortages within Dr. Hiras team/third party partners. The quoted additional 2-3 week wait is concerning, especially considering the teams reduction from 30 to 5 members handling prescription approvals as indicated by one of their staff. Waiting since September 2023, I was just informed today on another follow-up call about elevated test results that need to be reviewed by Dr. Hira—this is especially concerning given that its almost December now. Such inefficiency is simply unacceptable and prompted me to cancel my next appointment with them. Its disheartening to feel like a mere transaction, rushed in and out with minimal assistance.I had initially hoped for a more attentive and caring team, but my experience with Carbon Health Urgent & Primary Care Alameda (Alameda Landing) has left me with no choice but to seek healthcare elsewhere. A medical facility should prioritize patient needs over administrative hurdles, and unfortunately, this has not been the case here.In the future, I sincerely hope that Carbon Health Urgent & Primary Care Alameda (Alameda Landing) can improve their processes and staffing to better serve their patients. Until then, I would caution others seeking medical assistance to consider alternatives for a more compassionate and efficient healthcare experience.

I had a great overall experience coming here. Scheduling an appointment online was super simple and straightforward. Dr. Hira was helpful, compassionate, and easy to work with. I hadnt been able to see a doctor for several years and was able to get everything checked out that I needed checking. I got to my appointment a little early and didnt have to wait long at all to be seen. I cant recommend this place enough.

This is my go to clinic when I can’t be seen by my primary doctor. They provide full service medical care and testing for Covid, flu, RSV. I can always get a same day appointment which is great when you are sick and need immediate medical care. Their office is near me so it’s just a perfect situation. Gives me great peace of mind that I can be seen right away and not have to sit all day in the emergency room to see a doctor. Great staff, nice clean environment.

I had an appointment for a blood draw scheduled for 9:10am. I got there on time, but I wasn’t seen until 9:25am. I had fasted for this blood draw so I was pretty intent on getting it done asap, so I could eat. The delay already was frustrating. In addition I could hear the nurses inside talking about other patients and it felt very unprofessional and awkward that I could hear everything.When I was finally called in for the blood draw I let the nurse (or whoever was taking my blood) know that I tend to get nervous with blood and that I had once gotten a little dizzy (I told her this with the intent that she would distract me or talk to me while drawing blood to help ease my nerves-which is what nurses have ALWAYS done for me.Instead she literally rolled her eyes at me and walked out, came back and told me “we can’t draw your blood here because you faint.” She said they are not able to handle that. I tried to say that I have never fainted, and I was so shocked and confused that as a doctors office they cannot handle someone who gets nervous. As someone who draws blood, how can they not know how to help ease nerves. They said I had to go to quest for a blood draw.Now I had been fasting, I don’t tend to do well going without food for so long and they were making me go wait even longer for this to happen. I called quest and they didn’t even have any openings for me so I basically had to cancel getting a very important blood draw because the staff here can’t handle someone who gets nervous around blood.I am so disappointed in the healthcare system here, I am upset and sad at how I was treated with so much disrespect. There is no disclaimer anywhere or any form that I need to sign that notifies me beforehand that this clinic cannot do blood draws for nervous people. They should tell patients this before they schedule their week, day, eating, and life with these appointments.Horrible service by everyone at this clinic. What’s even more horrible is I had gotten a blood draw here a few months ago, told them the exact same thing and they had done it. I don’t know if the people have changed or nurses have changed but I hope they get better trained on how to do a blood draw for others who may go in. I highly recommend you do not go here if you want a blood lab done properly.

Relaxed atmosphere. Never crowded. No waiting in outer reception area. Appointment at 4:00, you are taken in at 4:00, if not before. Congenial, thoughtful staff. No rush. Dr. Hira has laid-back, yet professional manner. He allows all the time needed to address your concerns, answer questions, explains in understandable language. He’s the best. I had an appointment scheduled with a doctor at this clinic today, which was supposed to cost me a $25 copay according to the app. However, when I arrived, I was told that my insurance was no longer accepted at the clinic, and that the visit would now cost $250. No one had informed me of this change beforehand, and I was not even given a courtesy call. This is terrible service and a complete disregard for their clients.I also want to add that I had scheduled this appointment with the doctor several weeks in advance, which means that the clinic had plenty of time to inform me about the change in insurance policies. But they didnt bother to do so, and instead sprung this surprise on me at the last minute. Its really unacceptable and has left me feeling very frustrated and disappointed.

I recently had an extremely frustrating experience with this center. After I was informed of the upfront cost for care on 08/30/23, I decided to seek treatment elsewhere as the out-of-network expense was too much. To my dismay, I later discovered that they charged my credit card $250.00 for the visit that never happened. I specifically asked the receptionist to remove that card from my account while we were discussing payment. I have that conversation recorded. Thankfully, I am fine, but mistakes like this can have dire consequences for individuals who are already struggling financially. Do you understand how much $250.00 is? Mistakes like that should never happen.

Do you like getting texted your test results and then having their app crash? Do you like calling the clinic and not being able to contact anyone? Do you like not getting a return phone call 24 hours after you left a message? ell if so this is the place for you!In addition to the difficulty of contacting a human, when you do you speak with a provider you will be spoken to rudely while you are sick.So go here because your regular/PCP cant fit you in, but set your expectations lower than you would for clinic care.On the pro-side the clinic is clean.

When I arrived, their system couldn’t “verify” my insurance, even though I already verified it on their app. They told me I would have to pay $215 up front and bill my own insurance. What??? Especially after reading all the complaints about their billing department I was not going to be handing over payment What a waste of time. Would not book here again.

Im giving it 2 stars bc the care I received was good, but their billing department is a nightmare to deal with. I asked at the front desk if my insurance would be in network - they confirmed that yes, and all I have is minimal copay. Then in a month I get a bill for a total of $310, saying that my insurance was out of network. I talked to insurance, they said it should be in network, and theyre working on fixing the issue on their end. In the meantime, I shouldnt be charged by Carbon health. Of course, I tried emailing and calling them, but its impossible to talk to a human, and my CC was charged... I followed up on the emails, but nothing. Now Im out $310 for a charge that I confirmed would be in-network. You also cant remove your credit card from their files.

Very good about last minute appointment changes. Also, depending on what labs you need they can often do them right there during your appointment! So convenient, though the app isn’t always good/loud/repeating with notifications, so when they send you a message out of the blue it can a bit to notice. It’s not necessarily the perfect experience every time, but switching primaries is a click of a button so if you get paired with someone you don’t like it’s easy to change. My first doc was by my work, and super judgey/accusatory about certain things, but my second is very understanding in a professional way. Not friendly, but just there to help 100%.

Had a simple appt for a routine pre employment physical. The Nurse Practitioner Roshan insisted I get additional, unnecessary labs done. She did not consider my input on any of the findings, and she was condescending during the appointment. She requested I return several times over the course of 2 weeks. Terrific experience here! Booked a same day appointment for a severe sore throat and had options for virtual or in-person appointments. Went in-person, office is brand new, very clean, helpful staff. Check-in was a breeze and saw a very knowledgeable and kind Nurse Practitioner, Tyson, who ran some tests and ordered me a script that afternoon. The are definitely going to be my first stop in the future for Urgent Care needs. They also do primary care but unfortunately they arent in network with my carrier for primary care. I wish they were!

I’d give zero stars if I could. Went to urgent care with a probable sinus infection (I get them frequently and am familiar with my symptoms). When I stated I was in a lot of pain, I was told “people have forgotten what being sick feels like”. The provider (not sure of her title, but I thought she was an MD) got increasingly hostile as the appointment continued.so I’m still very ill, in a lot of pain, and the OTC meds are doing nothing. So glad I spent money for care just to be treated like a psych patient.Save your $. Go somewhere else.

Its great to know theres an urgent care center in our community that offers great service. Dr. Michelle Wong and her team is awesome! She had lead a great teamwork & flow on a short staff day. I was in for our last min visit before my trip same day. I was able to pick up my RX at nearby pharmacy quickly. Is our honored to have her in Alameda serving our community/residence. Kimberly was amazing, super friendly, knowledgeable and took the time to address the issue, I didn’t feel like the appointment was rushed at all, unlike other Urgent Care facilities that get really busy (I decided to try Carbon Health instead of going back to the original urgent care I visited earlier). Everyone here has been amazing, from the front desk, to the x-ray technician. I felt like I received top notch urgent care from this location and service provider. Dr. Hira was professional and patient with my care.My issue is with this locations office staff, front-desk staff and Carbons billing department. Id give a -5 if I could.2. Their front-desk is in bed with their dubious billing department. Despite my active health insurance and me presenting my card everytime, their check-in staff billed my PCP visits (on 07/05 & 07/27) incorrectly. Their billing department thinks its okay to bill you incorrectly and respond to your question in about 6 weeks. Also, your refunds arrive from some 3rd party advertising agency and not Carbon themselves ... #shady. This has happened 2 other times with Carbon in the past couple years. They create friction so they can rip you off unless you have the time and patience to keep following up for several weeks after.3. Their office staff, who are supposed to be answering questions on the app, sending referrals to specialists etc ... do that job like they are doing charity - if and when they feel like it! I reminded them 3 times over 10 days to send my doctors referral to a specialist and they failed to do so.If every visit is going to be a multi-week disaster for my mental and financial health, getting care from Carbon is a net negative!

I had an emergency and could not get my doctor or the office to reply except I could go to urgent care! I did and am so pleased. I made an apt with ease for that day, arrived and was welcomed, taken in early, treated professionally. Labs were done, results complete when PA came in and confirmed the infection. A prescription was called in and she gave me information. I was so impressed with all staff, the physical facility and my care. Would definitely recommend Alameda Carbon Health Urgent Health.

I went to Carbon Health Urgent Care today. It was hands down THE best experience I’ve had at an urgent care center. You can make an appointment online or walk in. I had an appointment and waited like 15 minutes to be seen.All of the staff are incredibly friendly and I walked out of there feeling a hundred percent better than when I walked in. I felt seen, and listened to. As an African-American woman, that’s not always been my experience when dealing with healthcare professionals.The facility is spotless..very clean. The team communicated the entire time with us from walking in twenty minutes before opening, to registration (not being completed in advance on the website), to being taken in for our vitals, clear and concise about why I was there, getting the rapid test again and convincing my husband to get a PCR tested done, to our exit interview. I was seen almost immediately and didn’t have to wait. The doctor listened to my concerns and I was able to keep my visit short. The best part was that I could do my blood work onsite instead of having to go somewhere else like I’ve usually done, and the person taking my blood did an excellent job keeping it painless! I don’t really understand how they can call themselves an urgent care if they don’t accept walk ins/require appointments? I was sent home from work early because I have a fever. I came here because it says walk ins welcome, and my doctor can’t see me this week. I was turned away because they don’t accept walk ins, and wanted me to schedule an appointment for another day. The front desk girl lacks any customer service skills/empathy. Sounds like it could be a good doctors office once you actually get in based on other reviews I’ve read, just beware it’s not an actual urgent care.

The experience at Carbon Health has been awful! Unlike other offices, once you meet your PCP, there is no way to communicate with them afterwards unless you make another virtual or in-person appointment so already it should tell you how much care you can expect being on your own after. If you set up appointments online & don’t respond to their automated messages right after to confirm the appointment, be warned you may get your appointment cancelled which takes away the convenience or scheduling online to begin a with. And they will not notify your appointment is cancelled until you come into the office, at which point you’ve already wasted precious time. DON’T GO HERE. I made an appointment for my 4-year old to get a pediatric Covid vaccine at the Oakland location. I show up early. Wait for 20 minutes. They come out and tell me the vaccines they have are EXPIRED and I have to go elsewhere. I’d had that appointment for a month. They knew we were coming but hadn’t bothered to make sure they had the vaccine. They called around to other clinics and finally found an unexpired vaccine at this clinic in Alameda, so I packed up my child and drove over here. I arrive early for my appointment…and wait 45 minutes (90 minutes past my original appointment time) as they see the 5 patients who arrived and had appointments after me. I kept asking if we would be next and was told “they’re with patients who had appointments.” Yes, SO DID I! Told me I was a “walk in” so was lowest priority, even though I’d made the appointment A MONTH AGO and had been waiting AN HOUR AND A HALF. My 4 year old was trying to keep it together but this was ridiculous. While I was waiting, i was googling to find another Covid vaccine appointment somewhere - the first search result was Carbon Health advertising that they had vaccines. Don’t advertise vaccines if you don’t have them! Don’t schedule people appointments for vaccines you don’t have! And don’t waste people’s time. And if you are so disorganized that people have to drive to multiple clinics to have their appointment honored, don’t put them at the back of the line each time. What should’ve been a 5 minute appointment took a total of 2 hours. With a young child. Shameful.

I am pregnant and had a very painful medical issue come up and I scheduled a next day appointment at Carbon Alameda. At first everything seemed fine, there was another pregnant woman there who seemed to be treated with white glove service so everything was looking up. Then when its my turn to be called back the intake nurse repeatedly asked me the same questions in a manner I felt was overdone and offensive. Then when I got to meet with the PA she seemed very aloof and just kind of going through the motions. When I showed concern about possibly having a separate issue due to a rather poorly worded test result from a previous PA and asked PA Lee for some clarification she just quickly brushed my question aside and said they are unrelated. I still wanted to know if its something to worry about. This is my first pregnancy and I amjust trying to be as cautious as possible.The appointment now over, and taking a total of 25 minutes I leave and told that in 2 hours I can pick up my prescription. Nothing about a text notification or any other system to inform us that the medicine is ready. When I arrived at the pharmacy they told me the prescription hadnt even been sent in yet. So I called the call center to ask for help and the woman on the phone was unhelpful and hung up on me without giving any assistance whatsoever. She just had me on hold for about 25 minutes. When I made it back to the Urgent Care the front desk worker named Angelina could tell I was unpleased and immediately took a defensive posture and was rude and caused me a great deal of anger and stress. She said that she had placed the order 30 minutes prior to our return to the Urgent Care. What Angelina didnt know was that I was still on the phone with the call center and the operator told me the order was just placed as I was on the phone. Thats just a bold face lie on Angelinas part. I feel that as an Asian woman, if I wasas also a white woman such as the previous pregnant woman mentioned that I would have been treated with the same type of courtesy and care. Its just something I didnt expect to encounter at a private facility using my hard earned HSA savings.

Overall, it was a positive experience. However, checking in was awkward. I carry very little cash as a habit and had used most of it the day before adding money to my transit card as I used mass transit the day before.I literally had $4 USD and £20 left over from my last trip to the England in my wallet. I gave the person checking me in a card and joked that I had the cash if they took British pounds saying that I just dont carry much cash. I felt a little judged by her surprise and response to me not carrying cash.I also asked about sharing info with my medical team, and I was told that happens when I see a primary care doc. That wasn’t correct. I had to come back to sign a release so that my primary care doc at a university-affiliated medical center will get these results. This should be part of the intake process.Otherwise, I got my nose swabbed and am waiting for the results.Basically, their Covid Exposure test is whatever you want: antigen tests or a PCR. Since I have antigen tests at home and had taken two, I opted for a PCR test.

The lady behind the counter told me I was ineligible for my Covid test and would have to wait until Saturday (today is Thursday). She provided no information. You will 100% feel like you are being farmed in and out of this facility, with minimal care or attention to whatever concerns brought to your provider. If you’ve spoken about more than 2 topics of concern to be addressed, you’ll be chastised and reminded of the providers time constraints beyond 15 mins. Once you have shared concerns, your assessment of what’s happening to your own body will be trivialized, and if you ask to see a specialist or ask for a referral, you’ll essentially have to beg and convince the provider for that as well.They’ve shut the entire urgent care down without alerting patients prior. I’ve had labs done that were never processed, resulting in me having to make multiple trips out of inconvenience.Front desk worker is absolutely amazing, and the nurses also show lots of care. Pls reconsider if in need of long term or serious condition management.
