I was impressed with the quality of this place. Im a regular at a different location in a different part of town but these guys are fantastic.Amazing selection, really well arranged store. They have comics exclusive to the store and a section for local creators, there are comics created by local children for sale here :-)Some board games in the back. A robust kids and young adult section as well. Street parking available shouldnt be that bad.

Cape and Cowl is quickly becoming my favorite destination. They have a good selection of comics and graphic novels and a very knowledgeable team. The suggestions that I have received havent missed yet. They have a members program that allows you to accrue points to put towards discounts and the points add up quickly if youre visiting as frequently as I am😜. Im glad to have this as my local shop as I embark on this new hobby journey. Thanks to them I will probably buy anything Daniel Warren Johnson creates.

Probably the greatest staff of any Comic Store I’ve been to! The head of the crew looks like Ant-Mans brother! Besides changing heights he’s super helpful! He got me into reading/studying Green Lantern and a few other great reads. They have a great selection of POP toys, back issues, posters, shirts and my favorite .... Enamel Pins!!! They support local artists and throw events often! No doubt the best around! Salute

What a beautiful shop! In addition to a wide array of current comics, youll find plentiful modern back issues, select vintage back issues, zines, tons of local content (I stumbled across my friends zine!), graphic shortboxes (I snagged the last Deadpool box), other comic supplies, manga, pins & stickers, plushies, and more!I havent visited since I saw a much smaller storefront pre-pandemic. This comic store is amazing! Nothing but wall to wall comics, statues, toys, games, plushies, pins (LOTS OF PINS), TCGs (trading card games), posters, magnets, you name it, they have it! I enjoy the atmosphere and I like the people who work there. Youll be sure to come out of this shop with something you love!

Great comic book shop. Has a lot of graphic novels to browse, current comics, and a growing back issue selection. Staff is great and friendly. Definitely a go to comic shop if you are in Oakland. Parking is tricky so be aware. Cant wait to go back. They have a website so you can order online for shipping or in-store pickup. If you are looking a setting up a comic book subscription or pull list they use ComicHub which works well, and has an app. Check this place out.

I have been to a bunch of Comic shops in many different cities and this has been one of the best. The shop was easy to navigate and had kid friendly material up front and easy to find. My daughter found a new favorite series and finished her book right away. Staff recognized me after coming back a second time. Great attention to detail! Next trip to Oakland I will definitely drop in again.

This is an amazing shop. I popped in after a business lunch just because it was close (Im here for the weekend). WOW. There are different shelves filled with various themes (Staff Selections, Pride-related content, new graphic novels, etc.). Ive rarely seen a shop so expertly and neatly curated. I found several books Id never seen, and winnowed it down to two purchases. The staff gave honest reviews of each - which supported my choices. I cant wait to go next time Im in the Bay Area!

Today was Free Comic Book Day (5-7-22) and it was such a fun event! There hasnt been one in the past couple years due to the pandemic and prior to that it seemed like I would always work on them. That made it super fun when I was told I would have today off so I looked up my closest comic store and this place showed up.One of the people was dressed as old tyle Thor with the winged helmet and the staff was so nice inside. They had a great selection of comics and had some great signage so I knew exactly was in each isle. They also offered a little selection of Funko figures, board games, dice and Magic the Gathering cards. I was very happy with the 5 free comics I got today for stopping by and I even bought a hardcover to continue my Avatar the Last Airbender collection.They also have a rewards program stamp card for buy 9 get the 10th free so Ill definitely be returning to get some more goodies from them in the future.Also the staff is super easy to talk to and even the small interaction with the cashier felt genuine since we were talking about a specific author that lives in the area.

Great place to order online from. Got some good key issues for cover price (Nice House on the Lake #1, Avengers #2, A-Force #8 Rahzzah Variant). Also scored a nice store exclusive, Stray Dogs #2 Cape And Cowl Comics Exclusive Ramon Villalobos Variant. Purchased a Bob Ross plush which currently hangs at my job. Awesome place that will continue to get my business.

First of I call these people Sunday they confirm that they take the comic books such as DC and Marvel in-which I do have. I opted to stopping by Monday and went in yesterday. As I walked in I was shock to see the maturity of middle white age men just crowded around the cash register I immediately became uncomfortable (it appears that someone notified these people that there was a young black male heading to their store) Well, I had a total 34 Comic Books a wide variety from DC Marvel Vertigo etc. The white boy fingered thru my Whole collections then said he wasnt interested While Infront of his POWO clansman erection RACIST CAUCASIANS BACK AT IT AGAIN 😳 😳

Always the best! Well organized shop, friendly and helpful staff that can answer just about any comic questions. Some comic shops can feel intimidating to new readers, if thats you, Cape and Cowl is a great place to go to get into comics. They have a great variety of stories and styles, and always seem to have the #1 books Im looking for to start an older series, as well as a huge selection of current runs. They carry a lot of different books, but if youre a Batman person in particular theyve 100% got you covered. Also the app is great for subscribing to a run so you dont have to worry about missing out on a new run or the next issues! They also have a punch card for a free 10th book! Ive been a customer off and on in the four years Ive been in Oakland. Since the lock-down, the way the store is run has obviously changed. Unfortunately, it has been for the worst.No one is able to assist when youre unable to get into the website after youve lost and changed the password. (This is probably an issue they had before the lock-down, but then you could just go in-person and get what you need). They have another site, Comic Hub, which I was told was used to buy items from the store as well as pre-order....but then I was recently told it was ONLY for pre-orders.For a time, I was able to have items I wanted added to Comic Hub when I called in and told them my issue with their official website -- Kevin would help me with this. However, more recently one of their other employees would insist I go on their official website and order items even after I explain my issues; it would be specified by this employee that Comic Hub was only for pre-orders...as aforementioned.When I would further seek assistance, as a customer -- how else would I get my comics, other than going to another store that wont have you jump through hoops? -- he told me to the effect, in a tone I didnt deem professional: Im busy. I have other people here and there are only two of us.As a person who worked customer service (and still does to a degree) I can understand multitasking and stress (if thats what it was), but youre also a problem solver. This person didnt care to solve my problem.I spoke to the manager/owner Eitan and told him about my experience and how I felt I needed to take my business elsewhere.He was dismissive as well.Fortunately, there are various comic stores online (including those in the Bay Area) where I can get the comics I seek.

I thank the owner for coming to Oakland. I hated asking my pops to take me to SF or San Mateo to get comics. I used to go to Berkeley but the store owners are rude to people that arent their own race. U KNOW WHAT I MEAN.
