Went in for a day trip to hang out with family and it was great. The kids were able to play in the lake and have some fun. It did get a little crazy towards the evening before we were leaving. Another campsite was having a little too much fun and an argument started and then someone popped off. Thankfully nobody was hit and our party was safe.

This is a prime location for big groups. 16 people. 4 cars allowed. 1 fire pit. Own path to lake. Porta Potty across.Sunset sets down right on this site looking at the water.Pretty flat.2 picnic tables.Not much shadeWe took our own canopies.There was a rattle snake. I spend a lot of time on North and South shore. I have friends that live in North shore. But I camp multiple times there in the summer. I kayak and fish at least once a week if not more out there. I luv this lake. Also very convenient for food, gas for boat, camping of any kind. Just all around great lake

Took the dogs to the dog park and let them run around. We brought our own sheet to sit on and a bottle of water since their is no faucet or fountain in the dog park. But I get it, its a small place and we found a shady tree to lay under.

Waters are at top capacity, camping in tents was completely filled, rv camping was full and as soon as one went in the space when their time was done another rolled in its place. Never having one empty and we stayed for 7 days. Wonderful experience!

The three of us enjoyed 5 days rving at the camp site. It was nice to have hook ups. We usually dry camp. Our son brought his fishing boat. They caught 5 or 6 trout. I caught one fish and we let it go. Our dogs had good time camping. We have never paid so much money to bring our dogs. We like Doran Beach Sonoma County Park. To bring our dogs its $2.00.

We have camped in our RV several times. We camp right on the pond. There is plenty of space between sites. The pond is beautiful. There are pelicans, ducks and swans. There are plenty of people fishing around the pond. We have not had any luck. Lol. Its a great place to spend the day or weekend.

Great as always. We stayed during the week and it was nice and quiet. RIVERVIEW CAMP GROUND: Be warned that there are scorpions living in borrows between site 12 and 13. I am not sure of other sites.They are pretty much harmless but its creepy to know that they are there 2 feet from your tent. Pictures include some scorpion faces and pinchers, some squirrels, some campsites, bathroom facilities, notices and rules.

We went as a group some got campsites, some got cottages. I used to come here all the time as a kid, some things have changed. Curfew is 8 pm and IS enforced. BUMMER! That really through a monkey wrench into things, oh noise ordinance in the morning too 8am. So 12 hr quiet time. At home I function off 3-4 hrs of sleep so needless to say that was rough. I was expecting what I was familiar with from previous experiences camping here. Loved the fresh air, trout pond was stocked I had no luck but the pelicans loved it. I stormed pretty good so we didnt take the boat out ( weather doesnt reflect rating). Overall my first camping trip in 15 years ( if you call it that, we got a cottage) left me with a feeling of wanting.

A hidden gem!! We stayed in Monument Park in our Fifth Wheel for two weeks and loved it! Everyone was super helpful and the park is clean, right on the water and great for fishing. We will definitely be back!!

Always a blast there! The water is warm and clean and the campsite is clean. We got there on Thursday and left Sunday feeling like I needed another 3 or 4 days to hang out.There is a small laundry facility so you dont have to bring a weeks worth of clothing with you.The bathrooms and showers are not always perfect by the end of the day and early morning, but they are cleaned daily. One bit of advice is to bring toilet paper with you because Ive been in need more than once and there was no toilet paper in site. I dont really fault them for this because of the sheer number of people on the grounds. Bear in mind there are several other restrooms scattered throughout the campgrounds.

Great place to camp at the South shore. Beautiful views at sunset and great access to shorelines for camping. It gets super hot, so make sure you get a spot with shade. If you own a boat its a lot of fun but better to launch from the north shore. If you dont own one rent a boat from the South shore and explore the lake and your whole family will enjoy it.

This is a great place to ride horses. Its only $30 for a 5 year pass, and the trails are well kept. Comanche north shore, South Shore and Campo Seco (at Lake Pardee) are all great.

We stayed on the south shore and selected spot 20 that when backed in faced the trout pond instead of the reservoir. Each morning we opened the side door and could see the trout lake from the front bedroom and in the afternoon we would lower the deck of our toy hauler and sit on the deck and watch the pond/lake without too any flies or mosquitoes. Ducks would sit under the trailer during the day and afternoon and other large birds and occasionally Id go walking around the trailer and a large bird would ask what I was doing disturbing its sleep. The reservoir is still low, maybe 20 feet below reservoir level so the spots on the reservoir while looked out over the south area should be nice where not as good as the view on the trout pond. The water distance from the reservoir view spots was at least 100ft to the water due to our last drought but the spots by the trout pond were 25ft to the water. The trout pond was at level and the view was better than the reservoir. Actually no mosquitoes bites. The staff was quick to act when the people beside us were loud after 10pm. The whole area is great all 24 hours. Id go back to enjoy another stay.

The lake is kept in very good shape. Using outhouses is not my favorite thing, but each time I used one it was well kept.Only negative feedback is the pay station. Its a lake, I get that. Its memorial day weekend, I get that. But having to sit behind 4 cars, (we chose the line without the boat) it took us over 40 minutes to pay our entrance fee. I couldnt imagine what it was like earlier in the morning with boats backed up being inspected. Is 10 minutes per car good or bad? We drove up to the station, Told the person day pass, paid the fee an along we went. 2.5 minutes.

All of the park employees are friendly and very helpful. Ive loved every minute of my stay there. Fishing is good, although water levels are low in anticipation of alot of snow melt to come from the moutains. Great place to camp.

The RV parking/camping spots are SUPER tight and close to one another. I was pretty surprised. At night time you gotta really mind your volume when youre outside your RV as you dont want to disturb your neighbors because youre practically standing outside their window the moment you step outside. The tent camping areas on the North shore seemed more laid back and they had camp fires roaring typical recreational camping. the spots where you camp on the north shore kinda feels like youre camping in a parking lot though, or in public

Our family and I visited here at The Oaks from Friday August 4-6th 2017 and the only problem here was that that the womens bathroom was infested with spiders and their webs.Not daddy long legs but brown spiders and their sac of babies that was literally in each of the stalls in the stalls my niece sister or daughter was in total disgust using this restroom they had the audacity to check they cleaned the bathroom when they didnt restock it with toilet tissue.My family and other ladies were all walking ti and from the bathroom with either a roll of tiasue or wipes this place is very 😢

Hope the people affected by xenophobic policy of this place will be able to file a lawsuit to keep the owners responsible for behavior which is deemed shameful and inacceptable in our society.To those who are Russians, and/or who speak Russian - youre the part of the problem, people. They wouldnt dare to do something like this with any other ethnic/national community because people of the other ethnicities/nations would keep them accountable, at least at the court of public opinion. The view is absolutely beautiful heavy ranger patrol on Fri and Saturdays especially at dark.The restrooms SAY that they are cleaned on the daily, but no not even. Yes they write their initials saying its cleaned, we witnessed all of this.. . they clean them on Thurs. And we watched a maintenance guy every morning comes to the restrooms turns on the hot water on each sink, (4) and the shower hot water as well as the mens side too and the fish cleaning sink thats outside of the restrooms, he would turn that hot water too!!!!I dont know the reason...we witnessed this over several days.Cold showers arent that fun

Off season price 27.50 Monday-Thursday!!! To dry camp. Riverview showers have the hot water SHUT OFF, we witnessed several times the maintenance/ rangers having the hot water running for hours in both bathrooms and the outside sink, until theres no hot water for guests. I dont know if they think its funny or what. Showers that are close to the guest service office are very clean and have plenty of hot water but look out for the showers that are not near guest services because the people that work there seem to do what they want and if you ask me $27.50 is way too much to camp in the dirt should be free or $5 a night.Also there is an insane amount of bees so anyone that is allergic should not come to Comanche South shore or North shore there is such an abundance theres more bees than flies and as soon as you get out a drink or food theyre all over you you cant get away unless you sit in your car

Staff is very friendly. The park was very full and almost all of the other guests were also very friendly respected the quiet hours and so on. The lake is beautifully blue unfortunately very very low due to the drought. That did not stop the boaters and other watercraft being used though. Direct sewer connections are also a big plus.

We stayed 3 nights for memorial weekend. Great spot for family of 10 with a water front view. Pitched 3 big tents and still had space. Near showers and restrooms. Which have been updated. Pay for shower. Nice friendly staff. They try to keep up with cleaning restrooms and showers through out the day. Each spot has its own fire pit. Water was luke warm. Had so much fun. The only down fall for me was bugs. I wish they would spray the tent sites and trees. There were bugs crawling and flying in all our camping gear and in our car.

We usually love camping here, but the site was trashed. We spent our first 20 minutes literally pickup up trash from the ground and out of the full fire pit before even thinking about setting up camp. The bag was full when we were done. The table was covered with various unidentifiable substances and was basically unusable. This is a campsite and certainly shouldnt be free of dirt and what not, but this was shameful, I dont think anyone cleaned the site from the last campers. Also shame on the last campers for not picking up after themselves.

I had an easy time reserving a spot. Got in late but met deadline to check in. One thing that concerned me was there were roaches when the sun went down. Luckily I had a camper off ground. But if I was in a tent I would have thrown everything away so I didn’t bring them home with me. Other then that, it was well patrolled, beautiful view of the lake and lots of shade. My kids and family enjoyed fishing in the ponds as well.

Fun place for the family. Spent the day exploring & fishing. Usually, we come home with some type of fish that the kids have caught. Fairly quiet, considering there were a lot of people around us. Seems like most of the visitors wanted to relax without the hassle. Be sure to put a life vest on the little ones of theyre going near the water. If youre going fishing and plan on using live bait, buy before you get here. The store outside the gate is expensive.Dont be afraid to go exploring, but watch for snakes and ticks.Limited cell service!

We delivered our trailer here for friends. No problem, until we went to pick it up. We were told we had to pay $14.50 for a day use pass, even though we would only be there for less than 1/2 hour to pick up the trailer. And in the future, that unless the person staying in the trailer had a vehicle to pull it, it was not allowed.Nothing posted on the web site, no notice when we delivered, no signs posted at the campground.Never going back!

We dropped off our trailer that we rented out to a couple that were camping at this location and the girl was very helpful and polite. When we came back to pick up the trailer 4 days later. The attendant was very rude and charged us $14.50 for day use to pick up our own trailer. We should not have paid by the way but I was so surprised by the behavior of this woman I just gave in. When we got over to the campers that rented our trailer they stated they had been harassed by the park rangers and had to call the police. There were other people that showed up after we did to pick up their trailer as well. They stated they had the same experience from the woman at the gate but refused to pay the fee and were let in. We were going to stay a few nights after picking up the trailer, but after that experience we will stay here or give them our hard earned money. Very Dissatisfied Customer

Me and my wife spent last night at Comanche, it was very peaceful, probably because it was a non-holiday weekday. We saw a bunch of baby geese, and the cotton trees are blooming so theres a lot of cotton around this time of year. It was a very nice experience due to the abundant wildlife and got good sleep.

Abosolutely loved it here. Beautiful lake, clean bathrooms. Free showers and cheap camping. They also have a playground for children. They are pet friendly. We paid $28 for our site and it was in walking distance to bathrooms and the lake. Almost all the bathrooms have multiple showers. Staff was so friendly and nice. I cant wait to go back! What more could you ask for...

First time at Lake Camanche, South Shore. Truly an amazing time with family. We were right by the lake, and it wasnt too packed with people. Everyone, young and old, is there for family and friends. You can grill, drink responsibly, pitch a tent, swim, boat, jet ski, etc. It was super relaxing, and the park entry fee for the day was inexpensive ($16 total for the 4 of us).

Grew up on this lake and it never loses its luster. Beautiful Lake views, big sky, and plenty of swimming and small water craft fun. Bring plenty of sunscreen - seriously. Fishing from the bank is poor. If you have a boat youll have better luck. Enjoy!

Overpriced and hot camping experience. A small, hot, dusty lakeside campsite with no shade costs $45/night, which is already pretty expensive in my opinion. However, it gets worse. A 2nd vehicle or trailer will add $16/night. Plus, they charge $23/stay extra if you have a dog. Pinecrest is much nicer and much less expensive. The only redeeming quality of this place is the campsites are close to the lake.

I planned a 4 day vacation to the lake and the family was really excited. It was hard for my kids to want to play on the shore due to leeches...yes leeches! Good thing I have a boat..no leeches In The good water...however I could not get gas at the marina ...they where out! We had a great time out there. The park people were very friendly to start with the bathrooms were so clean for public facilities i couldnt believe it. The water was so clear we ciuld see the lake floor and the water was 81 degrees. Im probably going back tomorrow. Five stars in my book.

The trout pond was peaceful and relaxing. Plenty of spots for people to fish from. Didnt catch any fish, but got there a little later in the morning (8:30ish) and am a complete novice. Saw two others catch 3 fish (1 guy on the beach side caught 2, 1 guy on the opposite side caught one.)

Camped out first time at South Lake Comanche in August 2017. Had a blast. Watched movie at amphitheatre Neighboring campers friendly. November we had the whole place to ourselves I enjoyed a walk daily thru the park I also got to take a million pictures . We were greeted by deer, rabbit, squirrel, hawks, birds, turkey and ducks to name a few wildlife creatures . The cabin was everything and more.

I have been going to Lake Camanche for 20 years!! For those of us who are not necessarily fishermen, which LC is famous for, but like to watch nature......LC is like the garden of eden. So many different birds, deer, turtles. The staff at the kiosk are very nice and helpful. I appreciate the store within walking distance if I forgot something necessary or just want to buy an ice cream and sit out under the trees and watch the boats.I will be returning for years to come. Its my favorite camping place!!

Wonderful lake (perfect temperature in the heat), nice views, helpful staff - im still never going back.The main issue is the other campers, their behavior and how they treat the environment around them. There are many published rules (more than most national parks ive stayed at). You will receive several emails about this along with printed details when you check in. During our weekend we saw no pro-active enforcement. Quiet hours are from 10pm to 8am, but on a Friday night we had LOUD music from multiple sites until past 3am. After complaining we got a response from the staff the next morning - but sadly no one checks emails or calls during the quiet hours :/ There is a sheriff station on site, but apparently no patrols conducted as we faced the noise issues each night from different parts of the site.There are toilet / shower blocks but very few toilets in them. Each morning they were in a truly horrendous state. The scattered porta potties were a preferable choice (when have you ever said that).There is a huge issue with litter. The camp sites are littered with bottle tops and even broken glass. Standpipes, located 15 ft from recycling cans are strewn with empty soap bottles and other detritus. The bins appeared to be emptied about once a day, but clearly thats not enough.There are several camp sites in the resort. The one we were in was next to a day use area. We had to evict day use people from the picnic bench several times a day when we returned to our tent.

Booked a shaded camping site but no shade in my site at all. Unpleasant experience. Extremely crowded camping site, full of large groups. Heavy cooking smoke and different loud music through the day. Drunk neighbors kept making loud noise till 3 am and started playing loud music from 7 am. Too many flying insects like hell. Really happy when I left, finally ended the nightmare.

Came here to fish and didnt leave disappointed. There are several locations to fish (boat ramp; stocked trout pond; various other bodies of water). We fished the trout pond and went home with two good sized trouts. If you plan on fishing the pond, bring sunscreen and sunglasses, as there arent any places to hide from the sun. Plenty of benches around the pond to sit at though!

So I have been here twice, right after they had stocked Lightning and Lassen rainbow trout. Both times, it was elbow to elbow and the braindead trout fead the cormorants and pelicans, not to mention the floaters. I took my sons at $9.50 x4, to teach them how to cast and retrieve lures. Not one bite!! 3 hour drive for NOT! And you wonder why our youth today dislike fishing, its boring when you dont catch.😡 Going to fish Sandabs, so hopefully they will like to fish again.

20 years and counting that weve been going to South Shore of Camanche (macassin) 202-209 very disappointed this past weekend 7/7-7/9/17..Bathroom was a totally unsanitary all weekend. Only one shower working again since last years experience. And bathroom was constantly flooded due to shower. I witnessed a lady slipping onto the floor. We Also had to pull weeds because of safety for the kids (bees) . Love Camanche but they need to work on all of the above or we will have to find another camp grounds in the near future.Angel
