I have enjoyed every single practitioner that I have seen. Everyone is so thorough and detailed. The place is super clean. They offer so many different things to take care of your skin or to help you look younger. Thankfully, they had an amazing MOES doctor on staff to care for my first basal cell carcinoma removal. Could not recommend this practice more.

*** Veteran Friendly*** Today I met with Dr. Grushchak about some skin issues I had been having for months, via VA community care network. The office was very clean and well staffed. I was greeted promptly when I walked in, and was given excellent customer service at the front desk. Kimberly and Virginia completed my intake, addressing all of my concerns. Dr. Grushchak was knowledgeable, considerate and answered all of my questions thoroughly. She elaborated on all possible diagnoses, and had great bedside manner. She genuinely listened and didnt rush the visit, ensuring all of my concerns were addressed. Kimberly and Virginia took notes during the exam and educated me afterwards regarding treatment and scheduling.Dr. Grushchak is a keen dermatologist who clearly knows her specialty. I was beyond impressed by her quick wit and the wealth of knowledge she passed along to me in such a short time. Kimberly and Virginia were kind and caring, going above and beyond to help me understand everything. Thanks for excellent, quality care today! Im honestly blown away with the service and thorough assessment I had today regarding my skin issues.

Dr. Grushchak was amazing! She was so kind and knew exactly what was going on with my skin and explained treatment plans. Her and her staff were so nice and went above and beyond at my visit! They even wrote down the names of skincare products they recommended, as well as instructions for when and how to use my prescriptions. I really appreciated it!

Really appreciate Dr. Nickerson! He knows his stuff and treats his patients well. Best dermatologist I’ve known. Hes an expert in many areas who delivers concise and thoughtful analysis of all of my concerns and issues. I don’t usually write bad reviews, but I did feel like I needed to unfortunately. I scheduled originally with a female provider. They changed my female provider to a male provider on the day of the visit and let me know at check in. Though doctor was very kind and respectful, I just would have preferred the female I had booked with (full body mole/freckle exam).Front desk unclear about finances from the start. Received a surprised bill. Make sure you ask a lot of questions about insurances with the front desk before entering your visit. If they say the “visit is covered” that doesn’t necessarily mean it’s covered.Billing department brought up sensitive medical history out of the blue during our financial discussion which I have never experienced before. I was discussing an insurance issue with a billing staff member. I said that the front desk had said that my preventative freckle:mole check would be covered, but then I got a surprise bill. The billing staff member said, “well I see you have a history of melanoma, it’s good that you got that visit.” As if this justified the surprise bill? Is billing staff allowed to read medical history notes like that? :/

Wow, Ashley PA-C at California Skin Institute and the entire staff are the most welcoming and attentive medical team I have ever met. From the moment I checked in at the front desk. The customer service is unmatched. Additionally, Ashley is the most detail oriented facial/ lip filler legend I have yet to experience and Ive had fillers done many times but hands down Ashley has given me the best experience ever! I have never seen this level of talent and professionalism. She has an amazing technique while administering the filler which I was extremely comfortable throughout the entire process from start to finish. And her assistant Karen was right there with ice packs to help soothe the injected areas right after. I absolutely have zero bruising and the outcome of the results left me speechless. I am obsessed with the results. So grateful for this place and everyone that works theres.

I was so nervous for my appt because I thought I might have skin cancer on my nose. The staff and doctor are simply incredible. Just green flags all around. I felt so calm, assured, and EMPOWERED WITH INFORMATION. The doctor gave me his professional opinions, recommendations etc. — didn’t sell me or push me onto any products or treatments or anything. There were no fear tactics. Just very real & down to earth. I left feeling smarter & more connected to myself. I also don’t have skin cancer yay!!!

My provider, Ashley Dominique, PA-C is very professional, knowledgeable and kind. She was able to help me with multiple skin concerns and really listened to me. Ashley worked hard to get my prescriptions filled within pharmacies that have reasonable rates as she knew they would not be covered by my insurance. The office is run very efficiently and they were able to accommodate fitting in a lengthy procedure the same day as my exam. Allison, at the front desk, is very responsive and called me before my appointment with information I could give my insurance to make sure treatments were covered. The medical assistant was very responsive and checked in on me multiple times during the treatment. California Skin Institute, Encinitas delivers quality care from start to finish. I definitely recommend them!

Dr. Nickerson is awesome. I have skin condition due to leukemia reaction. Four Drs later I got fed up with lack of results and found Dr Nickerson in the phone book. He did blood work and doggedly kept at it until he found the key to positive results. Highly recommend.

Where to begin! This office is AMAZING. From front office, everyone is always so sweet and they help work around my schedule and even Allison who squeezed me in after I went to the wrong location… woops. To the back office, my dermatologist Ashley Dominique is incredible! She makes the experience so relaxing and stress free, even when I have to get my scalp cut for biopsy, it was quick and pain free. Fun chats with her make me feel like I’m not at a doctors office. Her assistant Kaitlyn and her interact so wonderfully and truly are a team. Together we laugh, joke and make the experience enjoyable, while having to get these serious treatments done. I 100% recommend this office to anyone! They are the BEST of the best!

I was referred here by an urgent care facility for an allergic reaction causing a severe skin rash. I’m very happy with the service and treatment I received here. The check in was quick and simple and I was taken in right away. I saw Ashley Dominique and she was excellent. My insurance coverage is very limited and I have a high deductible for specialists so I highly recommend that for folks with an insurance problem, look into paying cash. It literally costs less for me to pay cash than to use my insurance! Most importantly, Amy explains everything clearly and concisely and put me at ease after a long year of worry! Consistently excellent care. I went in for rosacea but they also found a skin cancer on my face and removed it. They treated my rosacea w/laser sessions and a topical med, and its much better. Now I visit 2x/year for skin cancer checks. The doctor and staff are nice, knowledgeable, and they answer my questions clearly. Appointments are on time and I really like that they dont try to sell me a lot of expensive products. I trust them and definitely recommend!

So far I’ve had 2 appointments booked a month apart and they moved both appointments last minute due to saying the doctor isn’t available that day. I’m on. Tight schedule with accutane and need to be seen with in a 30 day period. I have to ask off of work and request a day or time off and rework my school schedule and they end up moving both appointments. Seems very unorganized so far and very unprofessional as far as scheduling goes and makes it difficult on patients that book way in advance to prevent this scheduling conflict.

I used work in Dermatology device sales and I can tell you most of them only care about their bottom line revenues and not their patients. She’s the ultimate expert in everything that I’ve visited her for, and somehow both meticulous and nurturing. I was put on hold for 5 minutes; I call at various times of the day to make an appt or to confirm & I need to leave a message (unacceptable!); tell me they will get me right back for numbing cream and they don’t; go to check out & it takes a long time to get my balance & receipt. I won’t be returning to this office. Patients do not come first in my opinion.

However, when you see a dermatologist who does procedures in the examining room, sometimes the doctor gets behind schedule. After waiting for almost 2 months to get in for an appointment, and driving for over 3.5 hours and 112 miles, and letting them know the freeway came to a standstill coming into Oceanside. Booked a visit video visit with Dr. Kannan through Zocdoc. The whole Zocdoc experience is a total circus. Providers are frequently not in network with insurance carriers they list on Zocdoc or their schedules aren’t anything close to what is listed on Zocdoc. This was no exception. The office called me to let me know that Dr. Kannan was actually not available on the day that I made my appointment through Zocdoc, so we postponed it one day. No big deal, but they really should keep the information they post online up-to-date.Dr. Kannan is pretty great, though. I was coming to her for a second opinion on the excision of a funky mole and she took time to explain my situation to me in detail and answer all my questions.
