I recently bought my first traveling watercolor set mini QOR and a bunch of brushes at Blick Art Materials in Pasadena, and it was a fantastic experience. The staff was incredibly helpful, taking the time to show me all the options for traveling kits by opening them up and explaining their features. They kept checking in to see if I needed any more assistance, making sure I had everything I needed. Great customer service and a wonderful selection of art supplies. Highly recommended!

Wonderful, patient, and knowledgeable staff. Busy location with amazing supplies. Family owned since 1977. We entered with an idea/concept, share with the proactive and courteous staff, and left with great supplies, better understanding of the needs to execute the set project, and good momentum. Free 90 min parking just west of the store north of green street and south of Colorado. Highly recommend this friendly and well stocked art community store. Store also featured art throughout!

Parking garage across the street. $1 for first hour. Crowded intersection though.Has a good selection of things. Certain shopliftable material are locked away like paint pens and such. Like Michael’s, could be staffed better.Manager was extremely helpful. Online prices were much better than in-store prices and employee initially wasnt helpful arguing somehow that in the end it is the same…? Eventually manager sorted it out.

The people at Blicks are super friendly. My Haul today paper gelly roll pens and masking fluid. The cotton paper was the most expensive item but it was on sale. The cashier was super friendly and knowledgeable. The stock person helped me find masking fluid. I cant wait to get home and start using my new supplies!!

This is the place for all the art supplies you need. I’ve been been buying my supplies here for many many years. The service is great and sales people are friendly and knowledgeable. You can always find someone who’ll be able to answer your questions. I’ve never been disappointed. The selection and variety of brands and materials is outstanding. Keep an eye out for lots of good sales.

They have most everything that you could want. There’s a few things that may take ordering at a specialty art store to find (soft pastels, better and less expensive canvas boards, etc). It wouldn’t hold me back from ordering here though.

Had exactly what I needed, the staff is super friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable. Quick moving purchasing process. Neat, organized, and has a local taste to its set up, with tons of posters for local artist and family events. Parking is on the street with meter maids for 2 hours. You can call ahead to the store to keep the item you want at the cashier so you are just in and out of the store. Coming back for my future craft needs!

They have a decent selection of bougie spray paint available but only carry The (fake aka German) Montana; Black and Gold, and Liquitex . Great customer service, they are all very knowledgeable on the supplies they have and went out of their way to show me example of their products and differences in types of supplies I needed. I had gone In with a plan on what I was getting and they helped me find great deals and alternatives to what I was going for that would give me a better value of art and bang for my buck!

This location is on the smaller scale but still has a decent stock of some niche supplies that are a bit harder to find other places. Everyone who worked here that I interacted with was very friendly and helpful. Came in for fountain pens and inks but they dont really carry that here, so keep that in mind if thats what youre looking for. Vromans does, though.

I love that they have art supplies for most types of art mediums. I get my Angelus shoe paint from them and it’s so much more convenient than waiting for it to be shipped. The pricing on some of their products could use better placement, it’s hard to find prices on some things. The staff is super friendly and attentive, definitely would recommend.

Great supplies but this was my first time there. I saw their advertisement on line for a product and showed in stock so off I went first two items they showed in stock were not the one they showed out of stock was there. Then the price was higher I was told their online price and their store prices were different. But their staff was very helpful and Courteous. Parking was terrible I parked a block away. Think I will stick with Hobby Lobby instead.

Been coming here for over 14 years. The staff is always super helpful and they have great deals, make sure you become a member (free) and they email / mail you discounts and sales. Great selection of every medium. I love the upstairs section because of the variety of sketchbooks.

I love this store. Everything is always so organized and the staff is very friendly and approachable. They always seem eager to help you out and never rush me. The cashier that helped me even told me if I had found everything I needed if not she could help find something. Then she asked if I was a teacher or student which I respond with student she immediately gave me a discount and explained their free program. I wish stores were more like that. I recommend this store to anyone needing help with art supplies.

By far the best-priced and widest selection for art supplies. I regularly come here for supplies for watercolor, acrylic, drawing, and calligraphy. I called in to check stock and got answer quickly which I really appreciated. Even though I have an order from the online store on the way, I came to pick up a few things I forgot and Christine was very helpful and sweet. The nice staff and great items are the reason I put up with the 25 minute drive here.

Great art supply store! Great prices too. The staff is very helpful, I was looking for the Blick set of drawing pencils which were on sale for a unheard of cheap price, and I couldnt find them. One of the staff actually took the time out to look for me, unfortunately we found out they were out of stock, but he stopped what he was doing to help me. The girl at the check out counter signed me up for a preferred customer card and when she found out that I came to Pasadena from Victorville just to shop there, she gave me a new catalog and was just so nice. This store has great customer service. They ask you if your finding everything you need but without being obnoxious about it by asking every 3 seconds, they let you shop without constantly bugging you about whether you need help or not. I wish we had one in the high desert!

If youre familiar with Blick stores, this store is going to be on the smaller side compared to others Ive been to.Not a very large selection of materials, so you might be limited if youre searching for something specific. I found this place after I moved into town, and it is now my favorite store for art supplies. The prices are great (buy Copics in bulk here) and the staff is friendly. I come here whenever I need to restock, and sometimes just to look around. Their membership program is pretty neat, too.

Usually staff is very helpful. Some times not so much, been coming here for over 10 years but experiences have been hit or miss. The employees can be rude, came here a month ago and some employee tried to upsell me so please do your research if you plan on buying a good amount of supplies. Otherwise the store is pretty clean, annoying when they have carts blocking aisles especially when its busy.

I would have given this place a higher score as they had everything my wife wanted but were sadly lacking in customer service. My wife had a list and knew exactly what she wanted and instead of showing her where everything was (it was all in the same area), they left her to fend for herself in the general area. She had to ask for help again before they reluctantly agreed to do so. They had 5 people at the check out counter. More than enough to hold down the fort. Then they rung her up where she had to repeat herself several times when they asked if she wanted a bag or to roll her large piece of paper. They had to get an SKU code and when entered was for an incorrect item and left it on the bill. The cashier made an eyeroll when my wife asked to remove the incorrect item. For a place that says they are artists, too, they were unwelcoming and distracted. She may have to go to an independent artist store from now on.

Im a young college student (and a starving artist) and I went to Blick on Saturday night November 20th. It was almost closing time and I thought Id browse and pick up a few treats for myself because it was my birthday. Unfortunately, the employees treated me as if I was going to steal.I needed to use the restroom so I asked an employee where it was and I went to the restroom then continued shopping. An employee walked into the restroom briskly right after I got out. He went to check the bathroom quickly, for what Im assuming, to see if I was stealing. Ive worked retail for years, so I know how it works when employees keep an eye on people. Other employees kept an eye on me and was close to me throughout the store. They made it very clear through their actions that they were watching me and I felt really uncomfortable. Then, the older lady at the front register asked me to leave the ONE small item I was holding at the desk. This whole experience made me feel horrible, like I was some thieving punk. I got my items and left. I will never come back if this is how they treat paying customers.

This place is just heaven :) They have every single conceivable art supply, and in general they are very friendly! The one thing thats mildly annoying is that there are many supplies locked up, and they require assistance to get in -- Im sure theres a good reason for this, but I found it a little odd to have to be escorted to the front desk with my mechanical pencil... regardless, this is still the place to go for all your art supply needs!

I dont come here often since its pretty far from where I live but its worth the drive. The prices for art supplies cant be beat and are better than Michaels. Another plus is how the Copic markers are not locked away and are easily accessible for testing out colors. Amazing place!

I am well pleased with my experience at Blick Art Materials on Raymond just North of Green in Old Pasadena.This day, they did not have what I need. However, after gracefully bounding the stairs to the upper level, and searching back stock and bins, Dana assured me that it would be in stock soon, and I could be contacted when it arrived.Outstanding.With a triangle in hand I descended the stairs to the register where the Associate promptly and efficiently, and with a smile, assisted me with my purchase and wished me a good day.Right on. Really nice store not so considerate of people with illness.Brought my lil girl in today to buy art supplies she has a brain malformation and is anemic she needs to pull down her mask to take deep breaths to get fresh ain in for her brain to avoid her passing out and the cashier just yelled at her to pull up her mask with no consideration was very rude and embarrassing as well as another female employee yelling 3xs telling us where the line is when you can clearly see where it is. Just all around terrible service .FYI next time i will spend my 130$ at Michaels

Ive gone to this location (Pasadena) since before it was a Blick store, and its always been a good place. Generally good selection, but Id never expect a store this size to have everything, all the time, that anyone might want, and still keep prices reasonable. The staff overall is pretty knowledgeable, and my experience has always been that they are courteous and helpful. Occasionally I have a question that goes outside someones range of expertise, but not too often.

I dont live near a blick store at all and this branch was the closest to me. Ideally I consider personally visiting a blick store as a last resort decision since online has better selection and prices, but I had to purchase paints on a timeline for a project I had to do. The line outside moved quickly and I was amazed at how consumer friendly the store was laid out.Ive been to the LA branch before and that place is hectic and crowded, they dont have a parking lot, and selection is too small, with too many things stuffed in one aisle.Employees are very knowledgeable at the Pasadena branch and prices are appropriate. I didnt see a lot of empty shelves. I just wish that there were more liquitex basics paint colors in stock, I had to mix and match between liquitexs different paint types. Checkout time was fast. I just wish I had more time to look around the store.Parking is free, its right across the street.

One of the best stocked Blicks I have ever been too. If you cant find a product at your local art store this place will have it. It is right in one of the higher traffic areas and can be inconvenient. There is also no attached parking so you have to find street parking, which in LA is notoriously difficult. So wear good walking shoes, youll want to get lost and wander the store anyway.

Pretty good store and conveniently close for art students from pcc, although youll have a hard time finding what you need at the beginning of the school year because there are A LOT of people who are looking for the same thing. Going as soon as possible would be best, other than that, the store is pretty nice and has a good selection of art supplies. Having a blick card is also very beneficial and can save you money!

Don’t go here to return online orders or make returns in general. This store has a very wishy washy policy about online returns as compared to Pasadena Blick store, which will accomodate returns or at least exchanges of unopened items. I called Pasadena Blick to ask about the general store policy and they said that what this Blick was doing in terms of online returns wasn’t consistent. The Manager of the Day at Blick here in Santa Monica kept hedging, making excuses and denying the policy despite my confirmation with the MOD at Pasadena. A very lazy manager who simply did not want to do the shipping or exchange/return because he didn’t want to be responsible for skewing a different product.

Whatever your artistic medium this store will most likely have what you need. Wide range of make it yourself art packages for kids. Ask the clerk to seek it out for you. The staff isnt too friendly. At least the three I spoke to just pointed and didnt actually help me find what I was looking for. But hey, could have been a bad day for them. The sales/stock clerk was very friendly and helpful. I was looking for gold ink for my calligraphy dip pen and he seem to have some knowledge about it. My only real issue is the aparrent lack of handicapped access to the upper floor. I wear a leg brace so stairs are an issue for me on occasion.

If it is not in stock, the staff is always happy to order it for you.Keep a keen watch on the sales. I saved my receipts and not all sales are created equal. Sometimes the price of an item will be marked up, and a sale sticker will be attached to it bringing the price back to the regular original price.
