Stopped with the family while we were in Anaheim for a car show.Brandon was very welcoming and attentive despite the morning rush.the huckleberry lemonade was delicious 🍋our food was great, we learned so much about the history of each restaurant, and we reminisced about our older memories.many are much similar to this, a great time with the people you love-enjoying the food you deserve.I included the orange, because we are near Orangethorpe... which is derived from the old English term, village.enjoy, from the village of the orange 🍊🐻🧡🐻🍔✔️

Jennifer, the person who served me, was extraordinarily helpful in finding the right types of foods on the menu that I could eat with my diet. It’s rare to find somebody who is knowledgeable, kind, and thoughtful… I know there are so many other customers she needs to help, yet … she took the time out to make me feel like I was the only Customer in the restaurant.Definitely coming back

Had Mother’s Day dinner here with my family and it was perfect! Silvia was our server. I was in a hurry because I had work, even though they were busy, Silvia was quick! The food was quick 🥰 their manager even came up to ask us if we needed anything else and said happy Mother’s Day to my mom. They were great about substitutions and the food was perfect. 🤩🤩🤩

I had my first experience at Black Bear Diner this last weekend and I was amazed with the food, server and atmosphere. My server, Cynthia, recommended the country fried steak and I am so glad she did! It was absolutely delicious. It was a great to devour it while taking in all of the bears around the restaurant. My son and I made it a game and started counting all the bears! Cynthia went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable and well taken care of. We will definitely be going again.

Brought the family here to celebrate national hamburger day, and I must say it was great! We were serviced by a beautiful young lady named Kenna who did a phenomenal service that was quick and professional. She even spoke fluent Spanish so as which was very convenient for one family member, and the food was rich and delicious. We will definitely be returning to this restaurant.

Very nice family restaurant. Friendly staff. Lot of parking and a Ralph’s store a few doors down. I had the pesto Salmon and it was excellent. Prime Rib on Friday and Saturday. I also got the coconut crème pie and took it home - so good. Great place for kids.

Horrible, we waited over a half an hour. everyone who came after us was seated, including a party the same size as ours that gave hugs to the manager and were immediately seated ahead of us. when we mentioned it, we overheard the manager say too bad, first come first served which in our case was first come last served. we left and ate somewhere else. do you think well be back ??? not for a long long time. they need a manager that understands how to treat customers right.

Food was good, yet cold. Service was slow. The minestrone soup could definitely have been hotter. Tuna salad sandwich was tasty. Coffee was good.As we were leaving, we noticed that a considerable amount of food was ready yet sitting under the warmer, and no waiters/waitresses were picking it up to serve the customers. Terrible service, very slow. This was on a Tuesday around 12:30.A busy restaurant should be properly staffed, especially at lunch. Whoever the manager is, needs to step up and stop allowing the food to get cold.Black Bear Diner is so much better than this.

Just an awesome breakfast that was very filling and such good taste. If you leave here hungry, it’s because you didn’t eat. Their portions are very good size, but most of all is the taste, and it was great. I had breakfast 4 days in a row here, and would’ve had more but I returned home.

This place use to be traditional, the food was good portions and clean table booths. However, now its definitely a former shell of itself. Not clean, smaller portions, higher prices and everything is done by cutting corners. You can see this in the food they serve.Do you enjoy your waiters to be on the flamboyant side? Then this place is for you. Definitely not for a family environment at this location.I wouldnt bring my family here again.

Quiet durning evening dinner . Breakfast is always busy and depending on day of the week it’s either crazy busy and have to wait for a seat when you see people waiting outside it’s about a 25-30 min wait or busy and nobody outside there is no wait time or at least 10-15 min.

My first time visiting and I must say I really enjoyed it. It is a family style restaurant with great food, very generous serving sizes, and reasonably priced. I would definitely return. I arrived during the lunch rush, and there was a 30 minute wait. The restaurant had a feel like I was up in the mountains. The menu looks like an old newspaper with all the locations and dates of when they opened. Merchandise is also available for purchase. Dine in is available. Enjoy your visit!

Just wanted to give a shout out to Black Bear Diner in Fullerton! Not only did they recently support the fundraiser for Golden Hill Elementary School with a $25 donation, but honestly I LOVE this restaurant! It is reasonably priced for a sit down restaurant. For dinner, I always get their pesto baked Salmon and it is so good. Plus, they will do half carafe of wine if you feel like you want to splurge! My kids always get Breakfast (served all day) for dinner with pancakes, eggs, bacon & sausage. Before I get into the food, I think its important to mention the fantastic atmosphere of the restaurant. Everything, from the outside decorations to the menus, gives the impression that you are dining at a small cabin diner in the woods.The food itself was delicious. On this particular occasion, I had the volcano breakfast, while my friend had the mini volcano. Everything was delicious and fresh. The pancakes were fluffy and sweet, and the eggs and hash browns were generously seasoned.The sausages and bacon, on the other hand, were the stars of the show. Both were delicious, but the bacon was especially so. Unlike what other restaurants serve for breakfast, the slices were thick, crispy and not greasy. Overall, one of the best breakfasts in orange county.

Absolutely Love this place! We went in before the dinner crowd arrived so we were seated immediately. The entire staff was friendly and our server was great. As expected, the food was delicious and the portions were so big that we took enough home for a 2nd meal. There are plenty of things to choose from on the menu, including a very good veggie burger. When you want an amazing meal of good old fashioned comfort food, this is definitely the place to come.

Am giving 3 stars due to service and ambiance. Our sever was friendly but not attentive. Came back when we were almost done with our meal to ask if it was ok. We had dirty plates to be picked up from our table but she didnt pick those up in a timely manner. Food was ok, nothing spectacular. I felt the food was under seasoned. The ground beef with the taco salad smelled funny and tasted like grease. We were seated close to the kitchen window and all we could hear were employees gossiping in Spanish instead of hearing the restaurant music and enjoying our time there.Update: November 2033Came back to give this location another chance. They failed, again. They messed up on my husbsnds egg Benedict order and the potatoes were undercooked and full of grease. The side of fruit smelled rotten. Even the orange slice garnish was unripe and not edible. I tried the taco salad again. The meat again had a funny taste and smell and thecitaluan dressing I ordered was old. Thats it Black Bear...no more chances, were done. (Location on Harbor ).

This was a great restaurant!👍 I was invited to breakfast and I was not disappointed. The bacon was great, the dishes were full and they had a lot of delicious and healthy choices. They have small deserts & pies to go too. The restaurant is family friendly, the staff was helpful, efficient and friendly. This is In a great location, there is a super market in the same shopping center and other little shops. I will definitely be coming back.

Visiting from out of state and wanted to go out for a Family breakfast. Found the place after searching Google. The reviews seemed pretty good. And the reviews were right. Good family diner style restaurant. The food was really good and the Bear decor was cute. Really like all the little Bear theme details. The only draw back to me was the price. If each meal was just a couple of bucks cheaper it would be a 5 Star review from me. (We had 5 Adult meals four that were Breakfast. And 1 kid meal) Breakfast should be the cheapest meal and it was $100.00 the food was Really Good just a bit expensive.

As usual the foods great. Service was decent The atmosphere I dont like the parking lot that you have to park in. Too small cramped for that plus all the other businesses that are around. They charge you like $1.50 for a side of country gravy and you get maybe four tablespoons worth. Im expecting extra gravy Im paying for it its not nice giving me a little dollop. The Bigfoot chicken fried steak breakfast is my favorite. They need to give you extra gravy for the biscuits. Theyre just too dry to me I dont eat dry biscuits I want them doused in some country gravy.

The food was delicious!! Our plates were all hot and warm just how it should be. Waitress Tiffany was super friendly and treated us very well. Customer service was great!! loved it all!! 6/6/2024 update: this place kinda sucks lol. From the slowwww service to the mediocre dishes, the only reason I find that people come back here (myself included) is for the nostalgia and vibes. Even then, you can get a better overall experience elsewhere, like the original pancake house in Anaheim. The only benefit here is that it’s open until 10pm.Great food! Love their breakfast. However even when it’s not busy, it can take forever to get your bill processed and cards back to sign the receipt. I get that it’s a sit down restaurant but some of us are busy and just wanted a bite to eat before heading out to school or an important meeting.

This location is so much better than La Habra location, that has limited parking. I was told 40min wait for just myself, but only waited 19mins to be seated. Where I sat was being serviced by Summer, whom took very good care of her tables. Service with a smile & friendly. I always order a blackberry bear claw, always a goal for breakfast meal & only eating half, taking other half home to enjoy the following morning. Anyhow, she told me after bringing the bear claw, my Bfast would be a little longer since the cooks were behind since the restaurant was packed. But nope, before even finishing eating half of bear claw, my Bfast arrived. My server said, it got done sooner, so enjoy! Meanwhile I didnt see the little flyer at the table, but wanted to mention that Black Bear diner is now having their pumpkin pancakes season, along with pumpkin Cheesecake too. This place never disappoints! From the all-day breakfast menu to the lunch and dinner menu, I have not had anything that I did not like. Tonight, I had the Fiesta Scramble and it was perfect. My friend had the New York steak breakfast plate and the steak was cooked perfectly the way he likes. Not a lot of diners cook medium well correctly, but the cook tonight did it so wonderfully. It was perfectly seasoned, so he didnt even need the steak sauce!And to make the experience complete, our server was so nice and funny! Shout out to Teddy! Shes AWESOME!

The cook cant poach an egg, and the wait staff cant make quick and simple decisions. At least the jukebox is fun. Black Bear Diner for a the LI ordered the eggs benedict, and one of the eggs was cooked like a hard-boiled egg rather than poached. I informed our waitress, and it took about 5-10 minutes just to get confirmation that they would replace the egg. It took an additional 15-20 minutes to get the replacement eggs (they brought 2). Both of the replacement eggs were hard-boiled. I decided to cut my losses and just eat the sad, cold, incomplete benedict. After finishing up, they brought out 2 more eggs and asked if I wanted to take them home. (Really?)Instead of comping part of the meal for the long wait and the improperly cooked food, we got bear bucks for our next visit. I dont plan on going back after that experience, so it was a pretty useless gesture on their part.

The restaurant was absolutely stunning and exuded a festive atmosphere that I truly adored, as I am a big fan of Christmas. Certainly the food was prepared correctly, and our server - although it was there first week, did an excellent job and provided attentive and friendly service. Incidentally, it seemed as if the landscaping was recently redone and careful attention was paid to the bear themed decor. First of all the lighting is blinding and uncomfortable. Way too bright. Need to get softer bulbs. This is a restaurant not a prison. I ordered the turkey dinner. Our server never asked me if i wanted soup or salad. I had to inquire after i ordered. She brought my daughters food out before any of ours. So she awkwardly ate alone until the rest of the food came out (of the miicrowave). My plate looked good until I tried the turkey. The thinly sliced pile of turkey slabs were deceptively hidden under a puddle of gravy. It was sliced turkey meat for sandwiches not a carved chunk of actual turkey breast. Even the banquet tv dinners have better turkey. It felt like I was chewing bland erasers or drywall. I immediately spit the first bite into a napkin. I asked if they had any other type of turkey meat and they didnt so I ended up getting eggs Benedict. It was bland. Everything was bland. We all used so much salt and it never really tasted amazing. Just mediocre and barely edible. Seems like the quality ofthe food (and service) here is extremely low.. We have had better experiences at other locations. We wont be coming back to this location.

We were disappointed... the eggs in eggs benedict were over-cooked. The corned beef and cabbage was bland and meat was cut way too thin. Also, the cabbage and on-the-side hollandaise sauce didnt come to the table when our food was brought out- we had to ask for them and wait a long time. The corned beef was supposed to have gravy (see pic). If we had known that, we wouldve asked for it too.

I wanted to get the country fried steak. Every dish contains some porcine product. Its gravy contains pork or lard. Theres no point in eating a country fried steak without white gravy (which by the way can be made with flour, butter, and black pepper only). Black Bear Diner is a great place to eat. Ive been to several of them, each multiple times, and Ive loved it every time. They have great serving portions and the prices are reasonable. I just tried their Chorizo Scramble today and loved it. If I had any complaints it would be about their waffles. I am not a fan of them. They are too sweet for my liking and they seem more like pancakes. The atmosphere is family friendly and casual with great music playing on their juke box. The staff is always friendly. If youre thinking about visiting a Black Bear Diner I highly recommend you do so.

The biscuits are good. They’re a little dry sometimes depends you have to get extra gravy. The cinnamon French toast is great. Regular French toast is awesome. Pancakes are always on point and the giant cheeseburger that they sell. There is good but it’s also way too much so if you’re hungry, there you go . For the price of the atmosphere and the friendly service you’re not gonna get a better value.

Ive been coming to this restaurant whenever I want pancakes, but this time it was not a good experience. From the beginning it was good, server was really nice, she took our order, I approached her to make some changes and everything good so far. The table she was helping after she took our order got their food, we waited about 30 minutes for out food, I got up and went to look for the server, she was grabbing our food as I was approaching her. She asked, is everything okay, I told her that we waited for a long time for out food, that the other table got theirs first and they were almost half way done eating. She apologize for it, she didnt know exactly what happened. Well, my food was cold, the over easy eggs were so cold, rhe ham, the pancakes, I mean everything was cold. I ended up eating the food like that since I didnt want to make it harder for us. Not sure if I gonna go there again, I really like going there though 😟😟

This place is like Dennys, but HUGE.Saw a bunch of these on the side of the road while road tripping up north past Sacramento. Never stopped at any, but found they had a few locations here and one I passed by all of the time too lol.The food is straightforward and decent and sometimes in huge portions. The ultimate breakfast before and the pancakes and waffles are really big and thick. The biscuits we got were gigantic for some reason; almost like a small cake. The chicken strips and western burger are actually pretty normal sized lol. The western burger had too many red onions in it. It already has fried onion rings in it so its an odd choice. I scooped the red onions out. Looking to try more out.

What more can you say about Giant Bear Claws and Black Bear photo ops?! Basically every meal is a large portion, so the price is appropriate. All sides are available, so I suggest adding a few of those as well.I dont recommend ordering anything you can eat anywhere else, like the French Toast. The Eggs Benedict of different varieties is to die for and the Country Fried Steak is cooked to country standard!

UPDATE:Went again today (have been back numerous times since my first review) and had the most amazing, blackberry French toast! The rest of the breakfast was great too, bacon was thick and cooked perfectly. Service was great and we will keep coming back.FIRST REVIEW:It was my first time here. My husband and I were greeted and seated right away. Fresh hot coffee was served and our order was taken. The food was hot and delicious and cooked to order. The coffee was refilled without having to ask which is nice. Placed an order to go for our son who was at home and it was delivered just before it was time to go hot and fresh made. The interior of the place is country bear themed and very nicely decorated. We will definitely be back!

Came here for a quick breakfast. And, we stayed for...1 hour and 10 minutes. It was not crowded. There was no line outside. Waitress was very nice and polite. Food was very good and fresh. I was little disappointed at the large orange juice I ordered. It looked like the size of a medium cup...for $5.29?

I went today because I wanted something new. I got the grizz and it was amazing but, the only thing I didn’t like was the hash browns. They were a bit over cooked. But the pancakes were fluffy and delicious, the bacon was great and so were the sausages and the eggs. I tried all 3 hot sauces and the chipotle one was my favorite! But the thing I liked the most was the fantastic service. They greeted us, made sure our meals were good. Definitely coming here again.

Its a super cute place, the staff is friendly, and the food was good and plentiful. I got a Denver omelet which tasted like it was made with fresh ingredients. There were a lot of menu options to choose from but it wasnt overwhelming. Price was what youd expect in a CA diner. I plan on coming back.

Had my birthday dinner here and the food was superb! Hot, tasty and filling! And Im a 61 265 lbs man! First time I had a New York steak in my life! And they seasoned it great. My dining companion had a salad that was gigantic! I ate the remainder for lunch the next day. Our waitress wasnt as attentive. But her black female co-worker was always clearing out table and providing refills. The next time I go, Im asking for her, even though I dont know her name! No one wears name tags anymore! Fix that!

OMG ! This place is freaking awesome, stop by for lunch. Had the best CFS sandwich EVER!crispy, juicy, crunchy, BIG and Delicious 😋I had that baby with fries and coleslawooh man, I washed it down with a big old piece of bread pudding! That thing was HUGE! Today is the 1 year anniversary of my mom’s death. I came to this black bear diner because it was a huge part of my mom’s life. Her writing group met there weekly back when it was a Coco’s and then continued when it changed to black bear diner. She had been going weekly for over 25 years. I came in not sure how I would feel. Even with my less than friendly attitude, I was welcomed so warmly. I was both taken care of with amazing customer service and given my space. The servers completely read my mood and were just amazing, even with my dietary restrictions. I am usually not “that person”, but I think I would have been treated warmly even if I was. No wonder my mom loved it so much. Thank you for being an amazing first stop on an extremely difficult day.

They are quickly adaptive to the pandemic; however, they are lacking with the weather. I was quickly seated and order taken moment after. I got my glass of water 10 minutes after asking for one and didnt get a refill only after I was about to leave. I gave it a three star because it still need improvement adapting to weather; not just for the customers but also for the employees. The service was outstanding and the food delicious. If anyone can actually eat their gargantuan portions, Im impressed.Its a good breakfast spot, especially for a chain. The food itself was solid. I ordered a waffle and I wasnt disappointed. We are from Phoenix and the Black Bear we usually go to (Glendale) recently depreciated in the way the food tastes. Its flavorless. Probably new cooks I don’t know but coming here after not having Black Bear in a while because of that, it tasted so good. This location’s food was so much better and actually tasted good. Amazing food for a great price. On a Sunday morning we were seated immediately and our food was prepared quickly. Awesome owner or manager, he even let us sit outside with our dogs. He really went above and beyond and we appreciated it. Definitely going back and I recommend that anyone reading this try it too. Eggs Benedict and steak and eggs were excellent!!

Delicious.I forgot Is the actual name of the plate but it was was the one that included eggs Benedict. One of the best eggs Benedict Ive had in a long time period perfectly cooked and seasoned and the plate was AA big portion. The fruit side were fresh and the hash Brown was soft under and crispy on top exactly how we like it.

Came here for a mid week breakfast. Waited 10 minutes to be seated which was fine. Staff were friendly and very efficient which was great as the restaurant was super busy. Ordered the Denver omelette with added tomato and it was cooked well and tasted fantastic. They have a great menu of lots of different options and is priced well. Will definitely be back for breakfast again.
