I was disappointed by the surroundings of the hotel as we checked in. Scotts Valley is a good home base for Santa Cruz and seeing Coastal Redwoods, but this is a bit more on the divey side of town. Busy road, run down gas station, Jack in the Box and trailer park each way you look. This isn’t a big deal, if it’s a good hotel. Unfortunately, the hotel is the most run down part of things. It seems like management has let things go and staffing is just not up to par. When we checked in we were notified there would be no housekeeping during our stay. This isn’t advertised anywhere when you book, of course, but whatever. We can come get fresh linens whenever we want.Those “fresh linens” have hair on them, and are only pool towels because all the real towels are dirty.Guest laundry, out of service.Mini fridge, broken and rotten smelling only the way a fridge that’s been off for a while can smell.Tabletops were sticky and dirty.Tub was slippery (requested a rubber mat, they don’t have them).Uncomfortable beds.Breakfast was poorly stocked, old and my first scoop of food had more hair in it.I was stupid and booked third party so there was no real remedying the situation unfortunately. I was promised a thorough housekeeping visit while we were out during that day to placate my concerns and of course that never happened.I spoke with three front desk individuals, two before checkout. All three acted like they were going to try to remedy things. The first two never made an actual report apparently, upon checkout there was no record of my concerns.This hotel isn’t up to par for a standard Best Western, let alone a “plus” product. Absolutely isn’t worth $50 a night, not the 150-200 you’re going to pay. Stay elsewhere, it’s worth the extra money.

During my recent stay, I found mosquitoes, flies, and other bugs in the rooms. I switched rooms three times and found bugs in all three rooms. Staff and supervisor were accommodating and ultimately issued a refund. I greatly appreciated the refund, given the lack of sleep and comfort I experienced in the rooms. The location is great. I am sure this can be a better place to stay with proper maintenance. I will not return.

Parking spaces are about as wide as my grandmas wheel chair. If you have rooms above 115 or 215 there is a second parking lot thats closer. I found out the hard way. Clerk could have mentioned it but he didnt.

We booked this hotel for our beach vacation and it was amazing. Its about a 15 minute drive to the beach so its close enough to drive to but far enough away to not be super crowded. The staff are very nice and helpful. The breakfast actually had gluten free bagels and cereal which is awesome. And the hotel is dog friendly!

We needed to stay close to Roaring Camp for a wedding and this location was less than 15 minutes away. They have a great setup for breakfast and clean rooms as well. The toilet seat was slightly warped in our room, but other than that we didnt have any complaints or issues.

The hallway above the dining area smelled awful, the facilities are generally dirty and poorly kept, extremely outdated as well. Bedding was in poor conditions and wasnt changed even if I asked them to. Very bad value for money tbh, its sort of cheap but should be cheaper consider how bad the place is, i will definitely not repeat.

Very impressed. For an older hotel, the accommodations were comfortable, clean, safe and friendly. The ladies at reception very helpful. The rooms were clean and the beds very comfortable. The pool and hot tub were a fantastic addition as well as being dog friendly. It is within easy driving distance of several fantastic little restaurants and less than a 20 minute drive to Santa Cruz Boardwalk. I would definitely stay there again!

A very nice hotel right off the highway. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. We also enjoyed the breakfast in the morning; the eggs, sausage, and hot sauce were nice.We only had two complaints/observations:1. I hit my head on the shower bar every time I walked into the bathroom. The shower curtain is bowed out into the bathroom to create more space in the shower, but juts far into the bathroom creating a hazard. A straight shower curtain bar would be better for the overall size of the bathroom.2. Parking was incredibly tight. The spots are small, and feel smaller when most folks staying there had trucks/vans/SUVs. But beyond that, there was a single handicapped spot available. We saw a van with handicap plates unable to park in the designated spot for two nights because the only spot in front was occupied (by another person with handicapped plates).

I’ve stayed here many times. Close to freeway (real close) but quiet, safe, clean, acceptable breakfast. Bed was comfortable. There are designated pet rooms (closest to freeway). Good food nearby. It’s dated, windows are single pane. They charge $50 per dog per night so with my two small dogs that almost doubled the price of the room. Make your reservation online, the front desk is always busy. Staff have been great.

Reception had a really bad smell. Rooms were on but looked like mid renovations. Mix of old and new furniture no art on the walls etc. Bathroom was a really bright color.Nice overall and room was a really good size.

There were no towels in the room when we arrived! We did not bother going to the front desk to complain because it was already late at night. Later on I notice a charge for $70 and when I called to ask what it was about the supervisor accused us of stealing the towels and would not even entertain the idea that we had not stolen them..

Hotel is updated and rooms were very clean. Minus 1 star because of the hotel room doors. Starting at 5AM for the 2 nights I stayed, doors would slam as guest would leave and either not catch them or just spam them without care for others who are sleeping. It was a constant 2 hours of door slamming until I had to get up. My room door did not have a soft close feature so Im sure the others were the same so its inconsiderate guests, however this could be alleviated with door closing mechanisms. Other than that, the hotel was great.

It’s a pretty much decent hotel at a fair price. Rooms are clean and lookin’ new. I like how the the free breakfast has many options. Friendly front desk. Overall, it’s clean and had a nice stay :) Great for families staying for a weekend.

My husband and I had a very nice stay. The staff is always very pleasant. Enjoyed the clean pool and hot tub area. Our room was very clean and bed and pillows extremely comfortable. We were upgraded to the suite and enjoyed our own private patio. The room was spacious and comfortable. Would have liked to had a TV in the bedroom/sleeping area though.

My only complaint is the shower head. Its not bad, I just dont like the spray. Everything else is great. This is the best Best Western grounds weve stayed at, well kept & very pretty. The employees are friendly & helpful. The room was ready when we arrived & very clean. We needed a pull out bed for the first night & it was in the room when we got there & was promptly removed the next day. The room was spacious and the king bed & pillows were very comfortable. We will definitely be staying here again.

The pictures make it look a lot nicer than it is. The rooms were clean and pretty decent on sound considering we stayed there on New Years Day. Breakfast was good. We had the hot tub to ourselves, but the pool was too cold since its outside and not heated.

We have been coming here for quite a few years. It is always clean and tidy. The employees have been very helpful and accommodating. Breakfast is nice and have little extras every morning. The hot tub is awesome and very nice to come back to after a long day at the Boardwalk. The front desk have gone out of their way anytime we have asked them.

Me and my family had a great experience here. The hotel staff were very friendly and meet every need.the breakfast was so delicious we loved it. The gym was an awesome surprise not knowing we had full access to it but we sure did put it to use. I say 5 stars the hotel is nice and clean and Savannah was a great host. Worth every penny to make family memories together.

Fairly inexpensive hotel, so my expectations were not very high. Was very impressed at how clean and well kept the rooms and grounds were. Additionally, the staff working the front desk were very friendly and helpful. My son arrived before we did and the staff allowed him to check into the rooms (we had 2) before we even arrived. That didnt have to do that, but we really appreciated it. Needed some extra time the next day to pack up, the staff had no issue with extended our checkout on one of the rooms. If I am ever up in Scotts Valley again, I will definitely stay at this hotel.

Yes, its older but driving up to door is so convenient when working in area. The staff is so friendly and accommodating, its been a pleasure staying here. The bagged breakfast and convenient laundry room is a plus. The water is hot and the air conditioning cool. Ive been totally comfortable here.

I came here 2 nights for evacuation from the recent storm and it seems they charged me full price and the $30 a night pet fee. A 10% discount was all they could do. They do not give breakfast unless you count the processed microwave burrito which I found inedible. They didnt even have apples which they advertised. The room was clean but had to air out on arrival due to heavy air freshener, was stifling. Very small fridge and NO MICROWAVE. Ive paid less and had more amenities and a better stay elsewhere. Hotels are usually very reasonable on price during evacuation, which I found out during the huge fire in this area in August 2020. I asked for a break on the pricing on checkout and this was a chance for them to make me a repeat customer. I will not come back to this hotel.

It was a very pleasant stay at this Best Western. The location is perfect, easy to find, with 2 gas stations nearby and next door is a fast food restaurant . The price is most competitive in the area. The facility is clean and beautiful.The breakfast is wonderful and you can eat all you want from 6 to 9 am. The decoration of the dining room is most impressive. You feel really comfortable. It was excellent. I highly recommend this location. If you come to stay at this BW, you will enjoy the experience that I described here.

This is really the best western hotel. Every single employee we talked to from day one till we left were so nice and friendly. I love watching the singing employee who served us one breakfast morning. She even went extra by serving us hot food though we were a little bit late.Our room was one of the best one; its overlooking the waterfront and the air plains coming and going. What a beautiful location to celebrate our anniversary. Thank you for making us feel special.

My stay in June was just okay. Lot of people standing outside smoking cigarettes in front of the room which theyre supposed to be 25 ft away. Poor pressure in shower. No microwaves in room. The last time, week ago was excellent. they upgraded me to a king suite and that was amazing. All new fixtures, furniture, new bed, great water pressure, hot tub in the the bathroom. I slept like a baby.

The Best Western in Scotts Valley was very nice. The room was huge, I mean we could have had a square dance in there. Clean fully equipped and the breakfast was very nice, I mean full size bagels and choices of flavors, I like that. Fried potatoes, scrambled eggs, and reasonable sausage. Very nice, very well put together and right on time at 6:00 a.m. The parking lot is divided into two chunks as the hotel is a long building behind the office it seemed so empty when I arrived. I think I went to sleep early and wow it full later. Nice Internet and definitely a hotel to where I would return. Good value and that says it all.

I would have out no stars but have to put 1... Horrible, the sheets weren’t cleaned in our room on either bed there were long black hairs all over the sheets and pillows. I waited for 1 hour to get clean sheets so my kids could go to bed and still no one was able to change them. I ended up going to the front desk to get them myself the person working the front (was new and alone at the location that evening not his fault) he was buried in people still checking in at 10pm and unable to locate more than 2 flat sheets for the beds. I used the 2 sheet and couldn’t change the other bed and had no clean pillow cases. The bathroom had the same issues with hairs all over. (My husband actually later told me he wiped some of down before I went in so I didn’t see and get more upset)The next morning the food was closed up early at the breakfast and the housekeeping staff seemed annoyed when I asked for a bagel after it was put away early. Luckily there was a Starbucks close by and I was able to get some food and a coffee.When I addressed all of the issues at check out the manager wouldn’t come out of the office and told the girl at the front desk to credit me in best western points. I had to sign up for an account to get them and the value of the points didn’t even cover the cost of my stay. The hotel looked like it could have been nice however it failed miserably in the execution..

Clean and comfortable. Decent breakfast - enough to get your day started.Kind and courteous employees. Our stay was very high priced for this level of hotel, but I guess that is the nature of this area during summer. I would stay here again if the situation arose. The only knock is the landscaping needs some work to give the hotel an inviting appearance - the lawn has been let go and is dead or dirt - could replace with appealing xeriscape planting given the drought.

Beautiful grounds. Comfortable modern rooms. Great breakfast. My only irritants were the smoking area in the rain and in a dark corner for a single female, and the maids knocking regardless of a do not disturb sign. Overall great experience would recommend.

I was Very impressed with this little hotel in a big way. From check in to check out we had no issues, but was consistently impressed time after time. The room was spacious and was decorated nicely. The tv was larger with a clean picture and had many great channels to choose from. The fixtures were all modern and classy. The tub was large and clean. The soaps were of better than average quality as well. The bed was extremely comfortable and also seemed to have a topper. The only thing I would Change were the pillows on the bed were little half pillows. I really Didn’t like them at all. But I woke Up to an amazing breakfast spread. Everything was fresh hot items were hot, and the refrigerator was stocked with all things needing to stay cold. I’m not easily impressed but I wasnt Expecting this nice large hotel feel in this smaller location. When I visit this area again I will Definitely stay here and will happily bring my own pillows.

There was feces on the blanket that that were on my sons rollaway bed! Disgusting! Way overpriced room. I should mention that we have stayed in many Best Westerns and are Rewards Members. On the positive side the, staff was very nice and accommodating. And there was always someone to help at breakfast. The condiments were well-stocked. The hotel is in a nice location.We got the last room they had left which was supposedly a suite. Ive stayed in suite at other Best Westerns. They consisted of different rooms and a lot of space or at least something distinguishing them from a normal hotel room. We were charged $329 and we were told we were charged for a cheaper room. This one would have been in the $400 range.The room was slightly larger than a normal hotel room but didnt even have a microwave. The room was also outdated. A lot of damage to the paint on the cabinets the shower head had no water pressure and the bathtub faucet ran all night because it wont turn off. Instead of shooting out diagonally go straight down. The window was so dirty I couldnt even take a picture through it. There was supposed to be a sleeper sofa in the room but there was not. Also, Suites are located upstairs above the lobby. The hall really stinks. Almost smells like old cat food. I always like to give the benefit of the doubt but its really hard to ignore all of this.I stayed at this hotel once before in a regular room with two beds. I remember not being very happy with how it was cleaned and the shower curtain smelled of urine. But, the room seemed to be in much better condition than this one and updated.

Best part is I bring my small pet to work with me at times and this hotel is pet friendly with a reasonable pet fee. The customer service was terrible. We stayed during the COVID Pandemic and granted we knew things would be a little different. However the people at the front desk were so rude. Our sheets were dirty and when we called to get new sheets they brought only the top sheet not both sheets. Then when we were changing the sheets the mattress pad had huge yellow stains. We went down to the office and they said they had no other rooms or mattress pads. They did give us a 10% discount and told us to come back in the morning when a manager was available. We went back in the morning and the front desk lady was so rude she questioned me and stated it was not blood but coffee on the sheets. Whatever it was they weren’t CLEAN! Then she called her manager to see if they could give us a discount and he told her to cal housekeeping to go check the bedding to see if there really was a stain. She called and checked and stated there was no stains on the sheets. I then told her it was not the sheets the sheets were clean since we just got them exchanged the night before it was the mattress pad. She called back and stated it was not that big of a stain. After 25 minutes of being interrogated about how big the stain was what type of stain it was they gave us $2.70 off per sheet and $20.00 off for the mattress pad. If they would have just gave us a discount from the beginning I would probably stay again but the fact that they had to call and do all this research was absolutely ridicules. She made me feel like I was lying. I would NEVER suggest this place. They also only gave us two towels and when we asked for another one they said they only had pool towel and the toilet paper was half emptyin the roll. Usually they put new rolls of toilet paper on even at a Motel 6. We will never be back again.

Staying at this hotel was the worst experience Ive ever had. The room was filthy and had a mildew smell. We asked to change rooms and they refused and still charged us. I called for some fresh towels so I could bathe my toddler because the others smelled bad, they took 2 hours to bring only 1 towel up. We checked into a different hotel the next day. The customer service here was awful. They need to be retrained on hospitality and how to treat guests.

If you want to be flea bitten and have the plumbing backed up and don’t mind being woken up at 530am by the trash truck, then you might might like this hotel. I, however, will never stay here again.Also be prepared when you walk into the lobby to be hit by a wall of stink. What do they clean their lobby with, sewage?

My husband and I reserved 2 nights at this hotel. We got in late and that night I noticed a strange smell in the room but thought maybe it was coming in from outside. The next morning we got up and went out, when we returned after lunch the smell had gotten stronger. We notified the front desk and they came up and confirmed that there was something smelly on the carpet behind the nightstand. They checked to see if we could change rooms but said they were almost full so all they could offer was some carpet deodorizer and a discount. We left, they deodorized the carpet, and when we came back the room smelled strongly of carpet powder but was at least bearable to finish the stay after we aired it out for about 30 minutes. I was very disappointed when we checked out and the discount was not applied as offered. The stinky room had definitely put a damper on our weekend getaway, and although it was not the hotels fault that someone had left something on the carpet, our experience was definitely not as relaxing as we had hoped because of it.

The Best Western in Scotts Valley, California is very close to the work site that I visit every month. Rooms are clean, the staff is very friendly and helpful. Ive never had an issue with any of my stays and have been frequenting this hotel for over a year now. Keep up the great customer service.

Love staying here when I visit friends in the Santa Cruz area. Its a short, easy drive to Santa Cruz and Scotts Valley is nice, clean, quiet, very safe and just a pleasant place to go back to after a days and evenings busy/hectic activities in Santa Cruz and Capitola. Pet friendly for a reasonable $15. per night extra. Rooms are clean, spacious, updated and very pleasant. Highly recommend!

We visited Scotts Valley for the first time. Love this town/city. Everyone is friendly & nice. Our stay at the B.W. was fantastic. Parking is tight but everything else is perfect. Clean, friendly & fast. They will definitely see us again when we go back to visit. The bed was perfect....I slept like a baby.

Knocking off one star because the pool would have been sooooo much more enjoyable with some loungers to lay out on. Patio chairs just dont cur it. Also, there was some kind of disturbance between some guests and the cops had to be called. But I still would go back. The good outweighed the bad.

Stayed for one night (Sunday). Check in took very long, only 1 front desk agent. Early check in is pretty much impossible, yet the motel rooms themselves are big & clean. Our stay was ok, nothing great yet nothing terrible. Location was convenient as Santa Cruz is only a 10 minute drive away.

Nice hotel situated in the santa Cruz mountains, less than 10 minutes from Santa Cruz. Comfortable large room which comes with a fridge which was a big deal for me since I meal prep. Theres no microwave in the room, but there is one in thier common area that they serve breakfast in. They also have washers and dryers available. Beds are comfy, larger desk and bathtub... All in all I really liked this hotel especially for the value

Very nice hotel...ample parking, a pool and jacuzzi. The rooms are spacious. Four lamps, a big small fridge. The sink is out side of the bathroom with a huge counter space. They have 4 drawers where the tv is located for clothes, 2 side tables with deep drawers, the closet is spacious with 3 cubby holes, and a huge shelf on the top. Theres a chair and an ottoman, a chair where you can adjust the seat and a glass round table. Nice tall mirror near the sink. A one cup coffee maker. Plenty of outlets to plug things in (the 3 table lamps have at least 2 outlets in it).Downside...if being nitpicky, well, there are no microwaves in the rooms. Must go in the lobby, pass the reception area and on your right, there is another room (where you could eat and have free breakfast pre-Covid) and then go to a back room, pass the 2 bathrooms and into the refrigerator area where you can microwave your food. Note: they have 2 microwaves...on on the bottom so, thats fine. Another slight: there are 2 doors that would lead you out into the pool area and the rooms from the microwave (which, if opened, you would see the that on your right, theres the ice maker, soda machine, and snack machine) BUT, its locked.Breakfast (which is free) comes in pre packaged bags (like lunch bags) of Quaker Oats oatmeal, fruit, and in another, a yogurt or muffin, an egg and sausage sandwich (options at the time of this review).Another slight: if...IF, you are on the first level, between the pool area, be prepared for kids (and at the time of said review, 7 men playing Marco Polo). And IF you are not a fan of that...suggest you go towards the back of the complex (its only 2 floors but, towards the back, its less noise).It is near a Chevron and a Shell station, right next to Jack in the Box, down the street is Carls Jr.So, this place is nice and I would recommend coming here. Many negative things to report: shower head broken to adjust in Room 103; dried food on the floor; sink faucet broken in Room 106; had to ask for more towels; room rates expensive for the area; no AC in lobby or dining room, staff said it was locked; when we arrived early (12:45pm) to check in a very unfriendly staff member, Alondra, told us very bluntly we had to come back at 2:30. She just didnt display any pleasantries, didnt welcome us or for that matter smile. Upon returning at 2:30 her demeanor wasnt much different. We processed the paperwork and I asked for rooms next to one another. First she said yes and then she said no. We were in Rooms 103 and 106 and she felt since they were in the same hall it was fine. She didnt make any other attempt to accommodate my request. This was sad.On a positive note, the pool area was nice; outside property was well kept; parking lot was a bit of a tight squeeze using the narrow spaces; there is no handicapped spaces on the lobby side of the parking lot, just on the opposite side, and our rooms were in 103 and 106.The continental breakfast we good. A nice variety and many choices. However, Ms. Alondra was taking care of the dining room and again she looked mad at the world. My daughter asked about the coffee machine and she quipped a comment that the machine needed to reheat. Quite rude.

BWScotts Valley is a good place to stay when visiting Santa Cruz. Its only about 10 min from UCSC and is clean and comfortable. They offer a free breakfast with bread items along with warm dishes of eggs and sausage. Kids loved the waffle maker and add ins for oatmeal and yogurt. For the price this place was much better than any comparables in Santa Cruz itself. We didnt use the pool but it looked clean as well. Beds were comfy and the room was clean. A lot of vehicles were parked over white lines eliminating available parking in an all ready small limited parking area. The parking spaces are all VW bug size but I managed to park my 2014 Honda Accord and slid out of the drivers seat like a shape shifter. They have a record of which room goes to which vehicle! Called Priceline talked to .....She told me the hotel had to request the refund or give us the correct date....went back and forth between them with no help....Called back the hotel and asked for the manager Cesar, yep he was not in yet, as Fabola told me she was not sure he was coming in today and that they are never sure when he will come in. Fable asked me if I wanted to leave a note for him I said yes at this point. I requested that Cesar the manager call me asap to correct this mistake...we want to insure we have a place to stay for our daughters wedding....It has been a week since I left the manager that message to call me.... Cesar the manager still has not contacted me....They owe me 3 nights or a complete refund.
