My first time here, I hadn’t had an eye exam in awhile, but have insurance from work(and being diabetic) it’s good to get an exam. The staff was great, helpful from the beginning of exam to the end. Now waiting to get my glasses I use for driving or when I got tired eyes, and happy with affordable glasses.

I saw Dr. Hale on a return visit due to issues with the prescription I received at the same location a week prior. He took the time to listen to what I had to say, and did not rush me. He was also able to identify & correct the issue [ a typo by the previous Optometrist] within about 15min. Would definitely recommend.

Excellent experience. Easy to schedule an appointment online for next-day, very pleasant staff, high quality eye exam where the optometrist provided multiple contact prescriptions for max flexibility, and I was able to get a new pair of glasses same-day.

The Ophthalmologists did very excellent job and gave me the important information about my eyes. The optician provided good services. One thing I would like to complain about the Lenscarft call center, she talked too fast and I did not check if I got everything all right and then hung up. I hope that they will improve this part of service.

Very good experience overall. Dr. Theresa was a joy to work with, so pleasant, kind, and respectful. The lovely young woman who helped us with our frames and lenses was very patient, attentive, thorough, and explained everything very well. There was a large frame selection with a price range that met with our budget. The facility was clean, organized, and had ample parking.

Great service! However, if this is part of Lens Crafters the Emeryville location needs to be upgraded. The bathroom was horrible and the whole lay out of the entrance to the restroom was dangerous and a bit suspect. When customers walk into an establishment such as Lens Crafters and they need to go to the restroom, it should be easy to get to, .and clean and sanitized. I went and turned around. The one in Walnut Creek, CA is bigger and brighter.

Dr.Hale has examined my eyes for two years. He’s charming, but beyond that, he’s thorough and professional. Last year he told me I’m developing cataracts, and based on changes this year, he went into detail about what I can expect in the future. I hope I don’t ever have to see a different eye doctor. Also, his assistant was thorough and quite nice!

I came in on a busy day of the week however despite this, the whole staff did amazing providing service to me. I had a wonderful visit with Dr. Hale at Eyexam of CA! The staff were all very friendly and professional. Alicia was particularly helpful and kind, explaining the various parts of the exam and chatting with me as we went along (apologies if I misspelled her name).I am also pregnant, and was very impressed that Dr. Hale did a pre-eclampsia screening with me (pre-eclampsia is a medical condition that affects pregnant people, and many of the symptoms are related to vision, like floaters or blurry vision). I really appreciate this kind of whole-person care!Scheduling the appointment was also very easy, and the location was very convenient.

I was very pleased with my entire experience getting an eye exam with Dr Hale. It was easy to schedule online and once I arrived his young assistant did a through pre-check and explained things about my eyes I hadn’t know in spite of wearing glasses for almost 60 years!Dr Hale listened to my particular concerns and addressed them well. I felt very confident in his assessment and subsequent prescription for glasses to suit my needs.Very pleased with my experience and will happily recommend this practice to my family and friends.

My daughter’s left eye was swollen on Christmas Day. I called 10+ clinics around 4pm, they were either closed or not accept new patients. Only Doctor Hale’s clinic open for immediate appointment for urgent issue. Doctor Hale was so nice, checked my daughter’s eye very carefully and gave professional explanations and suggestions. The doctor I saw was excellent. and the exam went very well.However, the check-in staff seemed overwhelmed and confused. I have been visiting this location for several years, but they kept asking me if it was my first time there and failed to provide my chart to the Dr I saw, which slowed down the exam. Similarly, when I checked out, I was asked again if it was my first time in, and I am not convinced my end summary was correctly filed in my file... I appreciate we all get busy and miss things, but this was a bit concerning since I am not confident my records are being properly maintained and I would like to rely on my service providers to maintain good and correct records to that I might receive the best care possible...

I went for an eye exam and wanted to get some contact lens, and the staff told me that my insurance cover the exam cost. However, I did not know I need to pay for the contact lens evaluation (which I thought is a part of the exam), and no one told me about this information before paying my visit. The doctor was very nice, polite and cleared explaining everything in regards to my vision. Unfortunately there are always hiccups when it comes to using my Aetna insurance. First I am told I was not eligible for glasses under my coverage and I was all set to go. Than the agent realized she had the wrong patient on the screen. It just felt like no effort to look into things unless I asked. After I was able to choose glasses all 3 agents had to decide who is going to help me. It just felt like everyone was too busy for the customer. In the end I did not order glasses since I was told it was going to take about 3 weeks to get them. For the first time I came to CostCo, in 10 minutes I had ordered my glasses and will have them ready in 5 business days. 2 years ago same thing happened they could not figure out my coverage and it took one hour for things to workout. I am not sure why I kept coming back. I need to learn my lesson.

Frame and lens technician needs a much more training on data entry/retrieval...stumbled through my needs to keep my costs down to a minimum. First, was told that refitting a current frame with new lenses would cost MORE than a new set of frames and the lenses?!?....Then, after getting assistance from a more experienced technician, the cost[close to $900!!] to refit a current frameset came to be LESS than purchasing new frame and lenses. Not confident of getting a quality pair of glasses...at a cost of close to $900.

The doctors at this place are really good! The problem with management and others. After my eye test I ordered, contact lenses and they said they are going to contact me once my lenses available(approximate 3-5 days). They didnt call me 3 weeks. Today I called them, they said due to some reason they dont have my information so they didnt called me and said sometimes things happen.I feel its related to eye health and they need to be careful. Just because of their mistake I was using wrong power glasses(previous glasses).Single suggestion BE CAREFUL. Not recommend, as they dont care about their patients.

ADDENDUM: I also sent this to Bernard Hale Optometry. i received a call the next day from Dr. Hale thanking me for letting him know, stating they had protocols in place and he is working with the staff to insure that protocols are followed.I had an appointment scheduled on June 25, 2020 at Bernard Hale Optometry, Eyeexam of CA. I walked out before having the exam because I was honestly shocked at the lack of protocols for Covid-19, and I did not feel comfortable having the exam. I would give zero stars if I could - Check the protocols before you go and use at your own risk!I have had previous eye exams at this location and was satisfied. But this was truly terrible and stunning.Other than availability of hand sanitizer and staff wearing face masks there were no other protocols in place. There was no signage on social distancing, requirements for customers to wear a mask, sanitize their hands on entry, or not coming in if you have symptoms. There were no protocols or controls on the the number of people who could enter the adjacent Lens Crafters store. There were no temperature checks as is done at other medical facilities.Although my appointment reminder said I could download patient forms to bring with me, there was no link provided to do so. When I arrived, I was handed a used pen and clipboard that had not been sanitized to fill out paperwork - restaurants are sanitizing pens and clipboard so it is shocking that a medical office is not. I asked for a cleaned and sanitized pen and clipboard. The office cleanliness was poor, including dirt and debris on the floor. In the adjacent LensCrafters store, people were handling and trying on eyeglass frames and not putting the frames they tried on into a receptacle to be sanitized before another person tried them on.The Trader Joes grocery store in the same shopping area was sanitizing carts and baskets and controlling the number of people allowed in the store.When I told the doctor that I would not be staying for the exam, she asked that I contact the corporate headquarters with my comments because it is up to corporate headquarters to put protocols in place.
