This another best review for my second eyelash transplant with doctor Kogouri as today is my 3rd day and I feel nothing at all as all the swollen, brushing, not even there without an irritation into my eye as well. I just want to thank you so much to doctor Kogouri and all the technicians that have been so helpful, kind, experiencing to performed best again on my upper eyelash. Can’t wait to see how it grows in the next 3 months as I will post it up again for an updates for whom that seeking to have a glamours eyebrow & eyelashes transplant for your own beauty and please just be at Berman Skin Instutute in Los Altos to see doctor Kogouri to bring you a best result that you never find at any where else! Poor experience thus far. My son was started on accutane (MD who saw him was great). However feels like nothing has gone as planned after. First, he was sent for a blood draw per protocol. The lab order they send us with was not signed so we had to wait at the lab for 45 mins while the lab contacted the office to wait for them to send a signed fax back. Then, my son’s prescription ran out. He had his next monthly blood draw as required and then I called the office to find out when they would call the refill in (and also ask about a wound he had developed on his chest where he had acne after starting accutane). The person who helped said they could not see him for a week (this is a fairly significant wound) and also did not see the follow up appt in the system that we were given at his initial visit. I was there at the initial visit so I know we were given a date and time. The same MA who didn’t make sure the lab orders were signed apparently also didn’t put his appt in the system. So he’s now run out of his Rx, we called to ask what’s next, and we’re told he has to wait a whole other week for his follow up appt and refill. So 2 weeks off accutane. Not good protocol from what I’ve read about accutane. Given there is a standard protocol one follows when patients are on accutane, and I doubt he’s the first to be put on accutane by this practice, this just seems like very sloppy medical care. How hard is it to make sure they are on top of the monthly refills and follow up (and since his botched appt was their mistake, figuring out how to work it in so he’s not off meds for that long). I work in healthcare. It’s doable. Not sure I’d recommend this practice. 2 stars because the MD was lovely.

I have Kaiser insurance and have seen many dermatologist there. Today, I accompanied my granddaughter to her appt at Berman Skin and my 1st impression when walking in this office was Wow . The gal at the front desk gave me eye contact and welcomed me and i wasn’t even a patient “yet”. All staff were respectful and friendly. I asked if i can be seen for skin tags and i was quickly added to the schedule . Kelsey was awesome ! I will pay out of pocket for this service any day. I recommend this office for sure ! Keep up the great work Berman Skin !

Bareman skin Institute is definitely the place to go! I know I will definitely be coming back here again and I plan to tell all my friends and coworkers about this as well! My experience today was one of the best Ive had in a while!Starting with the check in process, the lady at the front desk was really kind and made me feel welcomed, she made the check in process quick and easy! Then in the back, Taryn and Sharon were great!! This was my first session for laser on my legs, and they were able to answer all my questions and made me feel confident that I made the right choice coming here. They didnt make the session feel awkward like other places, they were able to carry great conversations and still get the job done! Thank you ladies for giving me advice on what I can do for any future ingrowns!Coming to the end of my appointment, Betty helped answer some final questions I had and she is truly a gem! I cant wait to see my results and these ladies on my next session 😊

I was impressed with both the friendly receptionist, who moved my appointment forward so that I could avoid traffic, and the professional nature of my skin examination. I was very, very shocked by their billing scam practices. My insurance covered their services in full. After a while, I received a notice that there was a payment due. I contacted the representative, asking them to reach out to the insurance company. They then sent more overdue notices, contacted me several times, and when I firmly told them that I am not going to pay and that we would handle it only through my insurance, they stammered and told me that there was a mistake and I owe them nothing. It looked like a scam practice to lure money from someone who is not native. It felt very sketchy.

I highly recommend Kelsey Chung!I visited the Berman Skin Institute 2 weeks ago for a medical consultation. As I was new to the clinic, I initially was hesitant in discussing my concerns. However, not only was Kelsey patient, but she walked me through a treatment plan that felt personalized - allowing me to move forward with a treatment option that best suited my needs. Kelsey was very empathetic making me feel comfortable during a medical visit and eased any concerns that I had.After deciding to go forward with the surgery, I reached out to Kelsey with additional questions, and she was very quick to respond even during non-buisness hours!Additionally, the staff is very respectful and accommodating!10/10 visit, I definitely will be continuing to visit the practice.

Absolutely terrible receptionist. She should not be allowed to work here. She has a strong accent and her name is Clay or May or something like that. Our first question was Do you offer CO2 laser tattoo removal? and her immediate response was I cannot discuss the pricing information over the phone. So we asked the same question again and like a robot she kept repeating I cannot discuss the pricing information over the phone. After a lot of explaining we were finally able to get her out of her NPC dialogue loop. We again asked if they offered CO2 laser removal and like clockwork she starting saying another thing on loop, Laser removal is only offered at the Los Altos facility. We kept trying to explain we understood that it is only offered at the Los Altos facility and that we were just wondering what kind of lasers they offered at that facility but she just kept repeating the same thing over and over. Eventually we just gave up and decided to schedule a consultation to ask about it. The receptionist offered us a time for the upcoming Thursday at the Los Altos facility and we accepted.Thursday came and we received a call from a different receptionist. The practitioner we scheduled an appointment with didnt even work at the Los Altos facility on that day... We were dumbfounded that this was the case, the obvious question being why would you schedule an appointment with someone who wasnt even going to be at the office? The second receptionist offered to call back, but after several hours we never received a call. I called back and talked to the original receptionist (Clay?) about it. She said that the appointment was supposed to be remote which we never agreed upon and were under the impression was in person. Then she said that we said we were out of state which makes 0 sense. We have both lived in the bay area our entire lives and would have no reason to say otherwise. When I informed her of this, she immediately got defensive threatened to pull up the recordings of our call as proof. Absolutely crazy... She then stated she had an opening on the 15th (a few days later) at Los Altos. I explained to her our situation and our need to get the removal done as quick as possible for medical reasons and she offered earlier times at the SF facility. However, after learning that the earliest appointment for removal wouldnt be until June, I figured there was no rush for the consultation and asked again about the 15th. At this point she gas lit me and said she never offered anything on the 15th. Completely unprofessional and argumentative.

From the moment I walked in from the parking lot I was feeling relaxed and rejuvinated already from a stressful work day; Kelsey the attending (as well as all staff) was extremely friendly compassionate and accommodating. Was my first visitand was able to remove an awkward annoying skin tag I had all my life, minimal pain and time…the whole visit was probobly only 15-30 minutes; exempting the new patient intake forms!! Highly recommended for any dermatologist needs!!

My experience with Dr. Aleda Longwell was extremely unpleasant. Her dismissive attitude was disheartening. Despite undergoing treatment for 1.5 years and spending a total of $4000 in Berman Skin Institute, there hasnt been much improvement in my acne condition.When I asked about monitoring the progress, her response was, I’m telling you it’s getting better then it’s getting better. I’m not going to teach you how to diagnose; this is my job, not yours. Her lack of patience and empathy made me feel undervalued. Lastly, they managed to find a picture taken even 6 months ago. I cannot recommend this place to others.

I see the hate on Dr Longwell, and as a long time patient I feel the need to step in and defend her!! HahaShe has a very dry sense of humor, and she’s sort of no nonsense, but she’s really knowledgeable, and kind, and has done wonders for my skin and my family (I have many children)Even I went to an esthetician, and she was gobsmacked when I told her I have Rosacea!! My Rosacea before Dr. longwell was no joke terrible!!! And now I go out without make up!!So she’s isn’t super bubbly and she doesn’t act like she took 15 cups of coffee before she saw you, but she is a good doctor, caring, and actually if you get her humor she’s super funny. My husband wants to invite her over for dinner.Also as a mother who takes my daughters to a cosmetic dermatologist, it’s unusual and really nice to have a doctor not immediately treat me like I’m a monster for taking my children to a cosmetic dermatologist……so many times I get the feeling that other dermatologist are just looking for a reason to tell me I’m terrible for worrying about my daughters skin……..like I’m trying to push them to be professional models or something! So I very much appreciate Dr Longwell just treating us all like we are patients who deserve her consideration and care.

My son (14) and I both see Dr. Chiang. Hes a very experienced and kind physician who patiently answers questions--putting our minds at ease about various concerns from our ezcema to our family history of melanoma. I also appreciate that he didnt push anti-aging treatments(!) even when I asked. He also treated my son with care and mutual respect (as it was his first time at the dermatologist which can be awkward for a teen). Highly recommend Dr. Chiang! He works out of Los Altos & Fremont.

The first visit in Berman is really unpleasant.First is the misunderstanding and mis-communication on the billing. I was given the VIP price but charged regular price of the package. This is cleared right away.what concern me the most is Dr. Longwell has no experience with BBL who treated me for my first visit. She was asking Taryn for how to use the BBL machine in front of my face. Then she put on a filter and scan my face briefly with only few pulses and she said this is the test run and claim that the first visit is always different. But actually it’s not, after I consult with different doctors and apparently she doesn’t know what she was doing back then.I strongly don’t feel this visit worth any payment, doctors has no experience on operating BBL should NOT treat any patient

If you want to have a great time seeing a dermatologist, this is where you should go. Okay, maybe thats a slight exaggeration, but all the doctors I have met at Berman are wonderful. Appointments are usually on time, procedures not painful, follow up consistent.

I saw Dr. Kojouri for cheek fillers. Everything I read online prior to the appointment said cheek fillers almost always bruise due to being such a vascular area. 24 hrs later and I have 0 bruising, just small puncture wounds from the needles. I believe this is due to Dr. Kojouris expertise, and this is why I insisted to come to a dermatology clinic instead of a medspa and see an esthetician. Additionally, they use an ultrasound to find the arteries in your face to wholly prevent the rare and dangerous side effects of fillers. 10/10 my expectations were exceeded, Ill be back and Ive already recommended this clinic to a friend.

I visited Dr Aleda Longwell for recurring acne problems. The consultation was a brief 10mins, but she knew exactly the root cause and how to treat it (with pills and external cream)! My issues subsided within 3 days of medication, and my face has been clear for 1 month now. Highly recommend!

Was able to get same day appointment! Front desk Nora checked me in quickly. The RN Meagan roomed me in minutes and made me feel comfortable talking about my issues with aging skin prior to meeting my doctor. The doctor I met was Dr. Chock and she was able to address my concerns. I love that she explained my options regarding my acne, blemishes, and my wrinkles. I expressed I wanted the best possible no evasive treatments because I am not ready for needles until I have exhausted all other possibilities. Dr. Chock was so kind and suggested some creams and than I mentioned my lashes are so bad now after extensions and she let me know about Latisse. Super excited to see how things go and for my follow up in 3 months. Fingers crossed. Now that I’m 40 I wish I had taken better care of my skin.The office was nice and the staff was super friendly. Unfortunately my sclero therapy on my legs cost me a fortune more than any other place i contacted later on, but my legs looks a lot better even though I had to go through more than one seating. The staff and the practitioner were nice and made sure if I was not completely satisfied to provide extra laser treatment at no charge to make sure my treatment was a success. I was very happy with how kind they were. And my legs are def looking. It takes about 2 months to see the full results. Soo hang in there

I met Taryn over 1 year ago for a consult. She was amazing and so was the space. I had a ton of questions and concerns and she gave me all the details AND costs that i needed. Unprofessional and not trustworthy.The nurse was late to my appointment. She set unrealistic expectations for the treatment - she said it only needed one office visit, but a month later, I called back and was told it could take multiple visits.The front office misspelled my name on the prescription, so I had to call back to have them fix it, then wait 30 min for the pharmacy to receive the new prescription and fill it.The bill seems inaccurate and the billing specialist hasnt been able to explain the unclear charge.

Called the office with sincere urgency due to a botch lip injection from a different place as I needed it dissolved. The staff were sympathetic to my situation and schedule a same day consultation. Usually treatment isn’t on the same day but I couldn’t wait! Thankfully, they were understanding and dissolved the fillers that I had. To my surprise, the effect were immediate and I couldn’t be any happier. Forewarning, it’s expensive is my only complaint but then again you pay for quality work. Nurse Thao is the best! Ive been seen multiple times for laser hair removal and Im loving the results! I should have done this years ago. My unwanted hair is so much lighter, thinner and definitely more sparse. I dont have to shave nearly as much as I used to. Nurse Thao is so thorough. She gives lots of information about what to do before and after the procedure. The procedure itself is way less painful than I thought it would be. Im a big baby and I was nervous. Nurse Thao was super reassuring and gave lots of tips to make it more comfortable. Shes so kind and very professional. I will definitely keep coming back.

Ive been a client of Berman Skin Institute for about a year, and it has completely changed my life. Ive struggled with hormonal acne since 2019 and went to multiple estheticians, but nothing worked. Literally since my first appointment with Ana, shes turned everything around. Overcharged me and had no intention of paying me back until I called to inform them and was told I have a customer credit. I was there for a scalp biopsy and wasn’t told about the money owed to me. I had to figure it out by going through all of my insurance explanation of benefits. They did credit my credit card after I called and they got it approved by the office manager (which is ridiculous since it’s my money).Now onto the appointment. Had a very different experience than the other “reviewer” with only two reviews re: Dr. Karhade. She did a terrible job with my scalp biopsy, used a bigger punch than needed (where hair now can never grow which I learned from other women who had it done, not from the doctor), a stitch came out and I was in a lot of pain and bleeding and the doctor acted as if it was no big deal nor showed any human emotion.She didn’t help, barely spent any time with me, didn’t seem to know much about female hair loss and offered no treatment. appointments were rushed and definitely felt like a number, not a patient.Staff wasn’t friendly. Overall a cold uninviting place where I will never return.

The front desk person was borderline rude, but the medical assistant and Dr. Longwell improved my opinion of the office staff. 1st appointment, I show up 15 mins early and end up waiting almost a full hour (40 mins late) to have a 2 min procedure done on my face.2nd appointment, the office called me within 24 hours prior to my office visit to reschedule because the PA was out of office that day and will be for the week after. why couldnt they have contacted me earlier? booking an appointment with this office is a pain, as spots are booked WEEKS in advance, so i had to grab the next available spot two weeks later. unacceptable.3rd appointment was canceled on me, yet again, due to the office needing to fix the machine that theyll be using for the procedure. this time it happened the day of. follow-up appointment was scheduled for the following week.overall, the end result of the procedure was good, as my scarring has faded tremendously after three sessions, but the staff needs to work on their communication.

The services are good. I can say the doctors are great. But I cannot give a 4/5 stars because on my 2nd appointment, I was almost sent home because they said my appointment was not saved in the system so no doctor can accomodate me. But then, they changed their mind. The procedure was truly great. On my 3rd appointment which I scheduled one month in advance, I did not receive a reminder so I took the initiative to follow-up. They said my appointment was not saved and I was asked to move to a later date. For the one month that I waited, I shouldve looked for another clinic, right? I said theres a truck parked and a man walking, not ok I didnt know you opened the blinds. Doc didnt wash hands or wear gloves, got biopsy on my back didnt tell me what was going to happen, hurt, no eta of result from biopsy, no space to ask a question about my other skin concern. Rushed, distracted, imcomplete visit, and not welcoming.

They have hidden costs that they do not disclose to patients and directly bill with your insurance. I booked their first time free consultation. I double-triple checked during booking, as well as right before my session, that my concerns - acne marks - are part of the free consultation. During the session, the doctor asked me to let her know all my skin concerns. I mentioned acne and the marks it has left. No one in that room, including the assistant, mentioned that acne is not part of free consultation and is not covered and cannot be addressed without charges. None of their handouts or website or even the staff ever mentioned what specific questions I am allowed with the free session. Deliberately hiding details. Even right after my session, no one at the reception or the billing counter told me that they were going to charge me for saying I had acne problems (where do acne marks come from if not acne!?). They directly charged my insurance with $255. A free consultation, taken for understanding whether or not this is for me, turned into a $255 session without any information to the patient!There was another lady at the reception right before my session that was mentioning similar issue to them that they failed to inform her that her session was not part of the free consultation that they so proudly advertise. This shows that there might be more people who fell for this.The Doctor who met me was good but I had to discontinue after 1 session because their billing system and admin setup is irresponsible and taking advantage of patients. The lack of transparency is not appreciated.

I had seen Dr. Karhade for female hair loss. She was the only dermatologist I could find that actually noted that as a focus of her practice in her profile. Until now I had been treated like a joke by other doctors for being upset about my hair loss. As a female it’s a very difficult thing to deal with emotionally. She listened to my concerns, she was understanding and compassionate. She was also very familiar with my situation and reassured me we could tackle it and improve it. I had such a relief that I finally found someone who understood and who could actually help me.she was kind, patient and interested in what I told her not dismissive as others were in the past. My aesthetician didn’t ask about allergies and didn’t explain the procedure before doing it. I ended up having a reaction and was really frustrated. My skin was burning throughout the procedure. I’m not sure that this facial was right for my type of skin, but I was told that it would be right for me.I also have some skin redness. When I asked about it, she suggested that it might be rosacea, but she was not sure. That’s okay, I know that she cannot diagnose skin conditions, but whats strange is that I had multiple consultations with a doctor there and received several treatments for acne and rosacea. The latter costed me $2000 if not more. I was told by the doctor that I dont have rosacea now (as of June, 2022) and it would take decades for it to come back. I told the doctor that I still have face redness and she suggested extractions. That didnt help with that at all and during the extractions appointment I was told that Hydrafacial would be better for my type of skin and it wouldnt be that painful. Unfortunately, that was not true for me.The overall experience was a bit frustrating and now my skin is super sensitive and I still dont know my skin condition.I read that this type of procedure (hydradermabrasion, under a fancy name Hydrafacial) should not be done if a person have an acne-prone or rosacea type of skin, as it might make it worse 👍The aesthetician was friendly throughout the process, but I wish she had explained all the steps before performing them and asked about allergies.And maybe it would have been better, if we had stopped doing the facial in the middle or even did a patch test to check for reaction first.

The Berman Skin Institute saved my 22 year old from an unnecessary MOHS surgery on his scalp recommended by another dermatologist. We were looking for someone who could get him in for surgery before he went back to school in August. BSI was very compassionate and explained the lab reports he had brought with him in detail. They explained the surgery and calmed his worries on the diagnosis and procedure. It took a week to coordinate with their regional MOHS surgeon but they got him on the schedule for prior to his departure date. They noted however that the lab work had some abnormalities in it and asked for the original biopsy sample to be sent to them for a second opinion. He ended up having BSI take another biopsy because the original lab had a complex system to navigate to obtain the original. The second biopsy clarified the results and surgery wasnt needed. We are so glad we went to BSI, they were professional, caring and detailed in their work and took their time making sure my son understood and was comfortable with everything. We canceled the surgery appointment last minute with no problem. They subsequently received the original sample and let me know that it validated their findings.

To borrow a line from Jonathan Lethems debut novel, The Berman Skin Institute, “like any practice which dealt with problems of a confidential nature, charged top dollar rates for unexceptional treatment and downright indifferent reception.” Dr. Berman carries himself with all the bedside manner of an aging Tom Cruise. Although I have no doubt his smile is real, what with the wealth he’s acquired from his chain of offices, his interactions with patients is lip service at best. I received no qualified advice from him, no after-care instructions, and any attempt on my part to make an appointment was met with a schedule that consisted of a few hours a week at most where we could meet- making it fundamentally impossible to follow up on an extremely costly operation. I googled my way through post-surgery protocols and eventually met with another physician in a completely different practice. I also developed a skin infection after my surgery, which I can only hope for everyone else’s sake was the fault of my own lack of sanitation. One can never know though, especially when your surgeon - which is actually just Dr. Berman’s assistants, doesn’t pay attention to the work he’s done after the fact.

I did not have a good experience here and thought it’s only fair to warn others from going here since there is some permanent skin damage to my face. Dr Kerhade prescribed me some cream which appears to have caused the permanent damage to my face. She did call me and tell me it was not the cream and offered to meet me again to fix it free of charge. However I was too nervous to go back.My internet research did warn about the side effects of cream. In the call, she told me it is highly rare and it could have been other reasons that caused the damage on my face (not the prescription). I am not convinced and pretty sure it was the prescription that caused it.

Nobody looked at me like I was crazy when I said the lipomas were the epicenters of my pain (ie. Dercums disease) which is what I normally get as a reaction with new doctors. I am kind of a tricky case, and they walked me through the excision and the pathology process with ease. Would definitely recommend this practice, you wont be disappointed.
