In light of 2020 focusing everyones attention on how quickly our lives can change due to compromised health, I decided it was time to refresh legal affairs that I had last bothered with 23 years ago. After cross-referencing multiple reviews of different estate law services in Orange County and LA County, hands-down the ones that impressed me the most were about Beatrice Phan. In particular, her reputation for attention to detail was what stood out as an important service, and she not only met expectations, she exceeded them.Our meetings were remote due to COVID-19, but I always felt that I was receiving the most professional treatment and genuine respect even on a Zoom call. Beatrice takes a genuine interest in her clients, and is wonderful about explaining what services she offers, and what the best fit may be for any individuals circumstance. She is in this line of work because she genuinely wants to ensure shes helping to protect her clients.Communication was always clear and professional, and any questions I had were answered immediately by either Beatrice or Tiffany. When it came time for me to sign the paperwork in front of witnesses, one woman who had worked at multiple law offices told me that she had never seen another lawyer provide the detailed instruction that Beatrice does to her clients. She goes beyond just legal services and provides practical instruction as well, which includes helpful tips to direct what supplementary actions will ensure all loose ends are tied up, but that is not a common practice among most estate attorneys.If you want to ensure that that all aspects of your estates legal documentation are attended to and that youre not left on your own to figure out how to fill in the gaps, I *highly* recommend her services. I received outstanding treatment, and I know that Ill maintain a professional relationship with her for many years to come. Ive already recommended her to three of my colleagues, and I plan to direct other people toward her office as well. You cant be too careful with your legal affairs, and I feel a sense of both security and peace of mind having found Beatrice. I feel very lucky!
Friendly and helpful. Beatrice is very thorough. She walks you through and carefully explains each step. Her team does a good job of following up with e-mails and calls to keep you on track to compete the process. It was also very convenient; everything was done through on-line video and a notary came to our home for the signing of the trust documents.

2005-‘06 were difficult years for me when my then-wife asked for divorce. I gave her EVERYTHING (for a speedy process) n moved into a rental with only 2 suit cases driving 1 of my sister’s cars. I remember i put down my suit cases in the entrance of my rental n cried in dismay at how my life came to that point. But i knew it was time to roll up my sleeves because there were 2 kids to raise.12 yrs later, today, 1 kid is finishing engineering school n the 2nd kid is planning a path to med school. The crying guy 12 yrs ago with only 2 suit cases to his name went from having a tough time paying rent to owning that condo, a fair stock portfolio n 2 rental properties by way of cheap credits, thoughtful investments n crazy good luck not to mention business partners who were determined to include me in every great deals; cannot thank them enough. I gave back my sister’s car n went from a used Toyota to a new Toyota. All was too good to be true until i fell off my bicycle ended up in a coma n when i woke up i realized i hav came to a point in life where i needed a LIVING TRUST for my kids.My family doctor told me that he had his living trust done n set me up for an appointment with his living trust lawyer, Ms Beatrice Phan.The first meeting was informative. Beatrice meticulously (i will use that word a lot) explained how probate court eats up time/money n how living trust protects my assets n how assets will be passed on to my kids. Within 5 minutes i knew living trust was the way for me to protect my assets n family.I highly recommend a pad of paper with a pen plus 3 cups of coffee because there was important information n Beatrice was...high energy. I walked outta Beatrice’s office totally committed to proceed. Beatrice gave me a list of to-do’s n it took me some time to collect everything.Organization was exactly what the job needed because my to-do list came up with a stack of dox 6 inches high. I did not get that done in 1-go. Beatrice was meticulous with every document follow up. Dox-gathering turned into an educational journey. I did not know how to get ALL NEEDED DOX n had to hav Beatrice guide me, twice, real-time on the phone. I went thru several doc searches, divorce papers, escrow dox, bank accounts, proper bank accnt creation, etc. Beatrice was always patient in her guidance n supportive/helpful at every turn.As it turned out, the biggest part of the job of creating the trust was all the info/dox gathering n then transfer assets into the trust. Admittedly, my case was a bit messy and Beatrice actually straightened out several weak points in my assets. Not only do i now hav a functional living trust but my business n business holdings are all solid n, in some cases, legal. I did set up a few things wrongly. Beatrice helped me with proper structure for ANY future business expansions. Gone are the days of “...i think it is...but i’m not too sure...”Most importantly, both my kids now know exactly what to do, where they stand n where everything is.It’s been a tumultuous 12 years but, now-a-days, i breath easier because i am...”trusted”.By the way, my sister n bro-in-law will soon be getting their own to-do list from Beatrice.
I personally have known Bea for over 15 years now. What I didnt know about is what to do when someone passes away, especially when its someone close to you. Its hard enough that you have to deal with grief, but the red tape that follows is just absolute madness. I had a glimpse of this when my own father passed away; I was not prepared or ready to deal with the bureaucracy. I reached out for help from my friend. After attending her free work shop on the whole process, I realized that a living trust was so much more. With a complex martial situation, I felt that the living trust was such a valuable asset for my family. Why so valuable? As an example, anything you leave a minor child without a guardian will automatically go to probate. This will not only triggers an automatic percentages charged to the total amount on your asset, but the time it takes to go through the process. In addition, the attorney fees will be greater than the amount you pay for the living trust. Hopefully, this helps someone else out before it will cost them an arm and a leg. Bea is not a sales person. (Shes terrible at it) She wont be trying to sell you anything other than to help. She will walk you through the process and still Bea there after youre done with theprocess. At the minimum, everyone and anyone with family should really educated themselves about the living trust process. Good luck!

She and Helen are not only highly professional, but extremely caring and patient. From the initial consultation to the legacy video at the end, they will guide you through every step letting you know what needs to be done and why.Helen is a magnificent guide through the process. During every meeting, she will treat you as though youre the only client theyre working on - spending as much time as you need to answer each and every one of your questions and concerns.I would highly recommend Beatrice for your family trust. I sought out to Beatrice for assistance with my living trust after attending her Estate planning brunch which i happened to find while doing my own online research looking for a firm/someone i can trust. Beatrice is very thorough in explaining the process and she makes sure that i have all my questions answered. Helen is the firms director and she is so wonderful with keeping me in line with all my appointments and getting all forms completed. Both Beatrice and Helen are very professional but very personable which is very important to me. Another important factor that matters to me is the transparency with pricing. The range is disclosed during her presentation and my specific rate is disclosed during my first meeting with Beatrice. I wish i had found Beatrice Phan Law sooner. 2023-06-30 20:58:58After years of being frustrated by the limited options offered by LegalZoom, my wife & I searched about for a reputable law firm to ensure that our family Trust is properly set up. We found many that did a great job advertising but whose reviews were suspect. And we found several that were very expensive.We could not be more pleased with Beatrice Phan and her wonderfully diligent counterpart, Helen Pak! They carefully (and encouragingly) walked us through the process of creating the necessary documents that will protect family should some accident befall us.Side note: Beatrice periodically hosts fun informational events, sometimes mixed with drinks, appetizers and treats. Those are a great way to get to know her team and assess for yourself if they are a good fit. For us, they were just what we needed: straight-forward and very organized. We look forward to keeping in touch with them as the years go on and our family needs change.

She took the time to explain his trust, what the issues were and options to resolve them in a way that was easily understandable. She has been incredibly helpful and we feel truly lucky to have had her guidance. She is always very thorough and detailed in her explanations. Helen the assistant is wonderful. She is very patient with me and took her time to help me navigate through the portal. They also accommodated me to help get the notary done on a lunch break. Again, wonderful experience with this law firm.

2020-02-25 06:01:09We had our original trust prepared in 2017. The attorney who prepared our trust presented us with some basic information about the process. After we signed the trust documents at the attorney’s office, along with electronic copies of our trust, health directives and power of attorneys, we were provided a paper with some general trust funding instructions. We were however not clear on what needed to be done. As a result, after three years, other than our house, nothing else has been transferred to the trust. Even though we thought we had a trust in place, if something had happened to both of us, our children would have no idea what assets we had.We happened to attend a seminar on Wills & Trusts by Beatrice in October 2019. It was very informative as well as enjoyable. Beatrice had a way to make legal concepts and issues sound simple and easy to understand. She presented real life scenarios, with lessons to learn, and mistakes to avoid. After that seminar, we asked Beatrice to review and if need be, amend or prepare a new living trust for us.First, Beatrice is very thorough and dedicated. She would go the extra mile to help get the information that the client needs but does not have. For example, Beatrice needed to have access to the original deed of our property to determine whether it was properly transferred. We could not locate it. Beatrice was not able to look it up online. She reached out to a former colleague who happened to be in the real estate business for help. And that evening, before our meeting, to our surprise and delight, she was able to get a copy of our deed. Second, Beatrice is very honest. After reviewing our original trust, she told us that overall it was okay, but she thought it needed some amendments. She explained to us that some parts of that trust clearly were not what we intended. Third, Beatrice is very meticulous and organized. She had a long questionnaire that took some time to fill out, but once it was filled out, it would expedite the subsequent funding process tremendously. Fourth, Beatrice is very responsive and accessible. For example, we had some questions when we filled out the questionnaire, and after we uploaded the questionnaire, Beatrice promptly called us to address our questions. Finally, Beatrice’s instructions are very detailed and extremely helpful. After we finalized and executed the trust, she provided us with a “Funding toolkit”, which includes: (1) an excel copy of all our assets that need to be transferred into the trust, including account numbers, with clear description of “action needed”; and (2) a word copy of “General Instructions for use of self-funding Toolkit”. With that “funding toolkit”, we were able to transfer most of our assets into the Trust within two weeks. Beatrice also gave us a very practical recommendation that we keep copies of our documents accessible and known to our children.Now with the trust mostly funded, and copies of relevant trust and health directive documents accessible and known to our children, we feel at peace that regardless what may happen to us, our children will know what to do and what assets we have.Thank you, Beatrice, for your outstanding services!
