I have been using Basic-n-Beyond for a few years now. I know what you are thinking. Why go here when I can just go to Apple . Yes. I thought that too. But these guys are top notch. Chris is excellent. Very Calm. Very much a profession.When I took my new Desktop of 13 years, Hey. Its new to me. To Apple. They said its an antique. They needed to replace the hard drive and said they wouldnt or couldnt do it. I took it a few doors from Apple and they said Sure; we can fix it. And they did. My 2012 desktop Mac works great . Its June 2023.My 2015 Laptop MacBook Pro was not responding when I hit the Z key. Apple said they dont repair 6 year old computers. So I took it to Basics-n-Beyond and they said it might be $650 to fix it if they can. It might be more since they couldnt know until they replaced the part. They said my Laptop was working fine except for the Z key. I got it home and the Z Key is working now for some reason. Never look at Gift Horse in the Mouth. Never really knew what that means; anyway. These guys are profession. Calm. Good at what they do. Fairly quick. I trust them and I dont trust that many people let alone businesses. What computer place isnt expensive? This isnt a second rate Mac Repair place. They probably repair more and know more than Apple. Chris and Troy are good guys . I would image they are probably faster than Apple in repair.

I feel completely scammed out of my money. Went in for a battery issue and was told I had to pay $100 as a hold until they could diagnose the issue. Thought this was very weird but when I was told it would just be a hold on my credit card I reluctantly obliged. The next morning they called and said they plugged in my laptop and it was charging fine. Great! I thought I definitely didnt have the money to spend in the first place to fix it. When I asked about the $100 hold they said it was the fee for their time and I wouldnt get it back!!! I understand paying for their time but $100 for them to say it started working fine again the next day?! What a scam! I feel so awful about this situation. Why would you call it a hold if it was a fee for any other reason but to deceive the customer! I should have went to the apple Genius Bar where they inspect your computer for free. What a shame! Why wasnt I made aware before hand so I could politely decline - I am hurting for money right now and $100 is a lot to me.

Just moved to California from Sweden this past year and bought a new iMac after making the big switch from a PC. I recently had a home training session on how to setup and use my new iMac and I couldnt be more pleased with the experience. Amazing experience! Troy helped me out with my old mac book pro and he was extremely professional and provided superb custom service. I don’t consider myself a tech person, but troy took the time to explain everything to me in a way I’d understand and made this whole process a pleasant one to remember. Ill be sure to come back with any tech needs!!

What a scam! This place is Very deceptive! I asked how this place is different from brining my Mac to the Genius Bar, they said there was no difference. When I asked why I had to pay $100 upfront they explained that it was just a hold. I went to the apple store right after and they said they would have check out my computer free of charge with NO HOLD! When I brought this up to them they argued with me saying the the apple store loses money because they dont charge ... & THERE IS NO WAY TO GEY MY MONEY BACK - SO ITS NOT A HOLD AT ALL!!WHY WERE THEY NOT HONEST ABOUT THIS UP FRONT WHEN I QUESTIONED IT!Completely unreasonable and shady! I wish I would have gone with my gut.. I knew that didnt feel right. Save your money and go to the Genius Bar where its free

BEWARE!! they claim to put a $100 HOLD on your credit card that will go towards fixing the problem - They DONT TELL YOU that even if the fix is simple or there is no problem at all they will still KEEP YOUR $100! its unfortunate that this place is recommended on the Apple website - GO TO A GENIUS BAR INSTEAD! IT WILL BE FREE THERE IS NO SUCH CHARGE. Complete Scam! They are no upfront about this! Why would you call if a hold of no matter what youre paying the $100. That is not a hold!

Took care of and honored Apple Care warranty to replace screen under warranty. Professional, communicative and met all promised deadlines. Would definitely go back as well as encourage others to use them...Most more personal experience than the Apple Store.

The staff here completely wasted my time and money. They didn’t answer my online quote request, so I called to see if they could replace a particular part. I was told “probably” and “highly likely” but they refused to check if they had the particular part in stock unless I came in and paid the $100 minimum fee, and refused to make appointments. I drove over an hour and waited 40 minutes in store for a staff member to become available, only for him to take all of 1 minute to check for the part I needed and confirm they didn’t have it. That could easily have been done over the phone! I feel like this place takes advantage of the fact that they are one of only 2 certified Apple repair shops in San Diego. Their competition (Crywolf) was much more responsive and honest, so I will go to them in the future if needed.

This is the place to go to if you need help with your Apple products. They are friendly, professional and very efficient. I needed my display replaced for my MacBook Pro. All done in 4 days from drop off to pick up. I was impressed. I highly recommend this authorized Apple service team.

Outstanding Customer service. Alan took the time and helped me work though my Mac Display issue. He also helped me figure out how to get my files off the hard drive of my old Macbook Pro that went down, He refused to charge me for the time he spent explaining the process. Next time I will forego the Genius bar and come straight here.
