I went to see Dr. Josh because my right knee was clicking and sore during activity. After a few weeks, it started to get worse. I have never had something like this before, so I knew at this point that random mobility or recovery would not be enough. Instead of chasing things on my own, I sought out professional help.I considered going through my HMO, but I was worried about the length of time to get into see someone and as an active person, I did not want to be told, “Just stop doing the things that cause pain.” I wanted to return to activity better than ever and I knew Dr. Josh from a fitness expo the previous year, appreciated his approach, and booked an appointment. I was able to see him within two weeks. After working with him for a few months, my knee feels much better and I am able to participate fully without limitation or hesitation. As an active individual, I keep getting other minor tweaks to the shoulders, hamstrings, or low back…and Dr. Josh was always able to prioritize areas of higher discomfort and adjust movements to help me get better and back to 100%. Dr. Josh is great at trying things out and making recommendations based upon how I respond, and not just because his own agenda. He was always asking questions on how things felt and was very attentive to observe small changes in movement quality or expressions to help him identify the optimal way forward.I have recommended him to a couple people at our gym and I really appreciate his goal to get back to a high level of performance over the long term while simultaneously reducing pain and discomfort in the short term.Thankfully, I am pain free and given the range of exercises that Dr. Josh provided during our sessions, I hope to stay that way. However, if something comes up, I am confident that if I needed a knowledgeable and positive professional, Dr. Josh and Base Camp Physical Therapy are always available to get me in to figure things out.

The Basecamp PT clinic has a welcoming environment thanks to both Josh and Nick. I recently worked with Josh for my knee issue, and he provided me with some really insightful information that not only helped improve my immediate problem but also set me on the right path for appropriate training as a runner. He conducts a thorough analysis and health evaluation to ensure his investigative work gives him a clear picture of the root cause of the issue I presented with. He put me through some movement, strength, and other tests that were challenging but highly beneficial because we were able to determine an appropriate starting point for my care. As a chiropractor, I have been introduced to and worked with many physical therapists, and I can honestly say Josh is brilliant at what he does. I highly recommend him to all athletes, fitness enthusiasts, runners, and those alike.

I started working with Josh several months ago regarding shin splints, hip and ankle issues from improper running form as well as an imbalance in muscle development. Within a few months of working with Josh, Im thrilled to write that I no longer have these issues. Through working on form, flexibility and properly strengthening muscles in a more balanced way, it has made a HUGE difference! Whether its due to an injury or simply want to create a better balanced body and become more knowledgeable, I highly recommend Josh and BaseCamp PT.

I started training for a half marathon last year and then began getting injured. The right hip started hurting and then my tendons started hurting. I had been working with the Bay Fitness who recommended I go see Josh at BaseCamp just to get an assessment and get a general idea of what was happening. I went in thinking I would just get an assessment and ended up buying a package because I was so sold with the approach Josh was using. I ended up getting a 10-package session and have seen amazing results. Right after I did this, I got into a terrible car accident where my left hip was injured. Josh has been able to help me with strength, form, and mobility and I am back to running at a really health pace. I really appreciate the atmosphere and working with Josh. He is super dedicated, funny, and genuine. I have seen other PTs which has felt like such a joke and a waste of time for me. I really feel like I get my moneys worth here.I signed up for a marathon in November (it is March) and I have no doubt that I will be able to complete it. I highly recommend Josh at Basecamp because you will see results!

I was a competitive equestrian vaulter and am an all around athlete. I started having progressive lower back pain in my mid to late twenties. I thought it was something I would just need to deal with and had to limit doing things I loved. A friend referred me to Base Camp and Josh was not only able to determine what the issues were but help me strengthen and activate the muscles I needed. Not only am I pain free but I feel more confident and am able to do the activities I love again. Josh is such a good teacher and really gives you the tools and knowledge you need to progress even after you have completed your therapy.

I’m so glad I finally went!!! Nick was amazing! I had injured my knee on Maui in October (literally just sitting in a chair in an awkward position for too long; middle age, am I right?), and then further tweaked it when swimming in the ocean, a strong wave slammed my heel into the sand, mildly hyperextending my knee.I spent the next six months resting my knee, and while it felt like it helped in the moment, I hated feeling limited, and I kept tweaking it if I did anything beyond basic walking.I had heard great things about BaseCamp from my runner friends, and decided to give them a try. Nick was really friendly, knowledgeable, and approachable. Within my first session, he had correctly determined the problem with my knee, and started building a program to provide support and stabilization for my knee, while strengthening my body.Within three weeks, I was almost entirely pain-free! In addition to the knee injury, I have an autoimmune disease, and Nick was incredibly patient and flexible with my plan, modifying it along the way to accommodate my limited energy and unlimited inflammation. He was curious and interested, and treated me as a whole person.I’m now lifting weights at a gym, and while I can run (and do everything) without knee pain, resting for six months before addressing my knee issues really zapped my cardio capabilities. But I’m building back up, and never knew how strong I actually was. I hope to never need physical therapy again, but if I do, I know who I’m calling.

Josh is fantastic! Josh is one of the best Physical Therapists out there. The thing thats different about Josh is he doesnt tell you that you cant do something. He really assesses your situation and works with you to improve it. Hes so good with youth athletes too.

Cant say enough good things about Josh at BaseCamp Physical Therapy and his support staff. For reference, I commuted 3+ hours EACH WAY from a small city that didnt have anything like this, on recommendation from a friend, and it was worth every penny and every mind numbing minute fighting traffic on the I-80 and route 37. Ive been a runner for decades, and I had a knee problem that just wouldnt quit. I went to two places in my hometown that took my insurance, and was extremely disappointed with the lack of face time with an actual PT, and that most sessions were just repeating exercises loosely supervised by an aide who was supervising three other people, things I could have done at home or my gym. I left my final session at the other places limping worse than when I came in. Not at BaseCamp though! Every session was like a mini reassessment, checking in with how youre doing with your exercise program, 100% of the time was spent with Josh, and designing a fine tuned exercise program FOR YOU. If an exercise hurts, Josh knows ten other ways to try and accomplish the same thing, and wont stop until he finds the exercise you can do pain free. One or two sessions included an analysis of my stride, and giving suggestions on how to modify it to run more comfortably. He respects your time and the fact you probably are motivated and can follow an exercise program, so the sessions are more about developing the program, rather than coming in three times a week to do it. If you need a little deep tissue work or cupping, hell do it. Im FINALLY running again and would not hesitate to come to this place again if need be, even with the commute. A shout out goes to the support staff as well, my first appointment happened to fall on a day Petaluma was experiencing severe flooding, and all roads around the office were closed. I was already on the road, and they called me, found an alternate location to meet me and assess me, and gave me advice on the best route into town that wouldnt be closed. Such service!

Exceptional Physical Therapy Experience at BaseCamp - A Game-Changer for My Hamstring Woes!I had the privilege of undergoing physical therapy at BaseCamp, specifically under the expert guidance of Josh, the owner. Initially, I had reservations about physical therapy, associating it primarily with serious injuries. However, my experience at Base Camp completely shattered those misconceptions.I sought treatment for a persistent hamstring issue and was referred to Josh by someone who spoke highly of his expertise. From the very first session, it was evident that I was in capable hands. Joshs diagnostic skills were impressive, and he quickly identified the root cause of my nagging hamstring problem.Over the course of the last six months, I have witnessed incredible progress in my recovery. Not only has my hamstring improved significantly, but I also achieved a personal record and Boston Marathon qualification at the Chicago Marathon—a testament to the effectiveness of the tailored plan Josh designed for me.What sets BaseCamp apart is not just their technical expertise but also their personalized approach to each patient. Josh took the time to understand my specific needs and crafted a comprehensive and realistic treatment plan. The regular sessions were not only instrumental in addressing my immediate concerns but also in preventing future issues.Beyond addressing my initial concern, I have continued working with Josh on strength training. His commitment to my overall well-being has made a significant impact on my fitness journey. The team at BaseCamp embodies patience and knowledge, creating a supportive environment that fosters progress.I cannot recommend BaseCamp Physical Therapy enough for anyone seeking not just rehabilitation but a holistic approach to their physical well-being. Josh and his team are dedicated professionals who genuinely care about their clients success. Thanks to BaseCamp, I am not just back on track but stronger than ever.If youre looking for a physical therapy experience that goes above and beyond, BaseCamp is the place to be. Your journey to strength and recovery starts here!Diana Callahan(age 57 years)

I went to Josh when I decided to sign up for my first half marathon. I knew that I’d be increasing my running volume over the next 6 months and had underlying knee pain that started to present itself. I went for a 3 mile run and had knee pain that bothered me for the following week and prevented me from running in that time. Working with Josh allowed me to address the knee pain, do exercises and make the changes needed so that the pain subsided. Not only did Josh help me with my knee but also gave me an individualized running plan so that I properly progressed my volume leading up to the race. Because of my work with Josh, I was able to finish my first half marathon faster than the goal I had set and without any knee pain! Josh is different from other physical therapists I’ve seen. He takes such an individualized approach and genuinely cares about his patients. You really get your moneys worth when going to base camp!
