Great place to get your hands on the latest books. For the readers, its an amazing place to hang out and get lost in exploring all those interesting reads. The staff is very friendly and helpful too. Kids have a large collection of books and toys to explore, and the reading corner for them is fun where there are story times arranged. My kids have a great time coming in here.Different genres, toys, collectibles, stationery, and more. Theres also a Starbucks inside with really good baristas.After shopping at Barnes and noble, the joint out has a lot of eating spots and the movie theaters too. A fun place to hang out. Definitely recommend!!

Its not just a bookstore with a large cafe that you can order Starbucks drinks. It has a huge childrens area (0 to teens in terms of books, toys, stuffed animals, an area for Storytime (held on some Thursdays and most Saturday mornings), music and DVD area that also sells a good selection of records (33 1/3), Toys and Games (LEGOS, STEM, Craft Kits, Licensed Merchandise - Star Wars, Harry Potter, etc.), pre-K to elementary school educational materials), Magazine and Newspaper area, small gifts, their Nook.If you need help or have a question you have to go to Customer Service area. There isnt any staff on the floor.My only issue is that this store is filled with so much stuff, its hard to walk around in some aisles because either there are tables fullof stuff or boxes stacked from the floor up. You have to look up towards the ceiling to see the signage for each of the departments because of how much stuff is either stacked up on tables or the rows of shelves are pretty tall.It was hard to get to the register area to pay because the aisles around that area are very narrow and cluttered with stuff. Can be difficult if you use a wheelchair or push a stroller.There is free wifi throughout the store. During the weekends the store is crowded and finding parking can be challenging. You will circle around because Barnes & Noble is just one of the many big box stores and chain restaurants in the massive Hacienda Crossings shopping complex. And this is the only B&N in the Tri-Valley Area - sad when they closed the Walnut Creek location years ago.

You always have what I seek. Customer relations is expert level. My last visit left me stunned. Five checkouts busy and the line went to the rear of the store! There must have been maximum occupancy and everyone had an armload. The cafe was packed, long line and the counter was well manned. Kudos!

Excellent customer service and, apart from the obvious books, they have the widest selection of Criterion Collection movies that Ive seen in a physical store.They have a wide variety of vinyls as well as kids toys (Calico Critters, for example).Im not a Starbucks fan, but from the looks of their lounge, its pretty nice!

I like how this location has a Starbucks attached to it so you can read your book while sipping on a nice hot cup of coffee. Checkout was swift and I liked the ambience of this bookstore. The wife mostly gets books here while I go for the puzzle section, which I will say has a great brain teaser puzzle selection (they also have jigsaw puzzles). This specific Barnes and Noble location has been the most welcoming in, my opinion, out of the few I’ve been to in the Bay Area.

Internet has sucked the life blood out of this former fabulous store for all to visit. Once a pleasure to spend hours reviewing books and periodicals to purchase. The cafe has always been full of ppl, good coffee and pastries, and still is.To survive, store has been forced to turn to merchandising - toys, dolls, games, visual entertainment items, etc. Maybe ½ the store. Choice of books - not so much.Except for children and teenagers. Probably still a great place to inspire children to the wondrous things to be found in books. And still offersextensive mags.I found one highly specialized, irrelevant reference book for a field of study I had expected to find at least 1-2 shelves filled with selections. [sigh] Far fewer employees to assist, too.

This Barnes and noble is the closest one to me. I have always enjoyed this location. The staff is very passionate and always willing to assist you whether its to find a certain book, to recommend a book or even order a book out of stock. The last was my case on this visit. The gentlemen who assisted me told me the book was not available in the store but offered to order it for me telling me it could be anywhere from 3 to 4 days. The store is relatively well organized and Ive rarely had a hard time finding what Im looking for unless they are out. I will be back for my book in a week!

The store has a lot of products not just books. I suggest the endcaps for some great finds like Octavia Butler (Sci Fi). Lots of interesting magazines too. I was especially thrilled to see The Bird/Nature/Environment and some of my favortite authors such as Sy Montogomery (The Soul of an Octupus) on the shelves. But, it was the new birding book from Cornell that made our day. Cant wait to use it. They also have a cafe that seems to be bustling.Update on bird book: DO Not purchase. It has had none of the birds we are looking for. Do not want anyone disappointed.

I love browsing through the store, from books to magazines, music, movies and cool memorabilia. Its always fun regardless of if I buy anything or not. One can also enjoy hot or cold drinks, and various desserts while visiting. Great place to also burn time while the rest of your party is shopping nearby. The customer service is nice and helpful once you track someone down, and the prices on some items are comparable to online or other stores. With big box bookstores closing down, I really hope this one never does!

Books, lots, and lots of books, magazines, periodicals, audio media (digital as well as vinyl analog) and surprisingly enough a very extensive collection of STEM toys. They also have a lot of collectibles from cult classics like Harry Potter, the Marvel Universe, DC, and more. They both the strong assortment of board games and card games as well as single player puzzles and flame teasers. Very small selection of electronics mostly e-readers. Also a small selection of journals greeting cards and then theres the coffee shop. Its a good place to also just sit back and relax and read enjoy some fellowship and coffee or just get lost in a book. Overall is a pretty fun place to go and its hard to leave there without buying something as theres something for everybody.

Today is 4/5/22 and my visit was at about 2:30. I felt discriminated against today. If it wasnt that it was at least poor customer service... My son wanted to buy an entire series of books but the first book was missing from the shelf so we asked the staff and he just said all the books were out w/o even looking. It was not our first time buying series at this store and previous staff always looked up the books and provided us with info and options. Then when at the register, the staff, who happens to be the same person (I dont want to name him but his name starts with T), ran us up w/o asking if we were members. I noticed that previous customers were all asked that question. We brought is up and was given our members benefit. He just dropped the receipt with any greetings or anything, which was different from how other customers were treated. Maybe its because I was Asian... anyways, it really ruined my day...

It turns out my son loves the LEGO box more than anything else. There are so much to enjoy here as a family. This location is fairly busy compared to others Ive visited, but its the only one in the tri-valley that I know of.Selection is generally good, from my limited searching. They definitely keep things stocked and update their special sections. This is a nice Barnes & Noble. It isnt too cluttered and the shelves are kept well organized. The cafe is pretty big and they serve sweets from The Cheesecake Factory, which I think is pretty neat. If you cant find what you are looking for the staff is eager to help you find it at another store or order it online for you to have it delivered to your house or the store for pick up.

Amazing reading spot! The prices of the books are much lower if you are a member. One of the best things about Barnes and Noble is that there probably isnt any book you wont find there. Also, you can read any of the books in there for as long as you like without buying it and just return to the shelf plus they have Starbucks right inside there. So, you can read for a couple of hours, have a mocha and sandwich and go back to reading :)

Real books for real readers! It had been awhile since my teen son and I had taken the time to peruse a bookstore. In this electronic age with its many conveniences, it was nice to just slow down and thumb through physical books. We were asked once each if we needed assistance, in a friendly manner, and then were happily left alone to absorb the environment. Checkout line was long, but moved quickly with plenty of clerks manning the row of cash registers. Positive experience on a rainy day!

This Barnes and nobles has a huge inventory of books, toys, and collectable items. I used to bring my boys to play with the train set in the kids reading area, but because of covid-19, it is no longer available. Thats the only real bummer. The kids enjoyed it here. They explored books, education, and the toy section. The toys have really gotten better. There is a ton of cool and educational toys to pick from at a decent price. You can look at toys, have a cup of coffee, look at collectables or just look for a new adventure in a book. Staff is really nice and the store is safe and clean. 5 stars.

I like the feeling of having a book in your hands and the turning of pages and Barns and Noble is a great place for that. The only thing that I dont give a higher rating for it is that its a but hard to find were the sections are like romance, or adventure is but thats about it. I love reading books and have never found a reason to steer away from Barnes and Nobles. Their extensive collection of books has something for everything to enjoy, although it may require a little time to dig around first. The staff is not particularly friendly, but the overall experience is assuredly positive. Theres a nice cafe inside the store as well so you can grab a snack or a cup of coffee during the trip there as well. Its not expensive, and this location has an extensive vinyl collection as well. Ample seating spots allow you to properly sit down and read into a book to see whether its the right fit for you.

I would say, possible one of the best Barnes and Nobles out there, since the people around me seemed to cared about the books and items they sold and carried them around with respect. The vinyls and records will be all the way in the back. Its super convenient, because of the shopping malls nearby, its a great place to buy a great book and read it while sipping coffee at the Starbucks thats located inside this bookstore!

The visit was nice until my cashier tried way too hard to get me to sign up for the yearly membership. I don’t know how many times I politely told her I wasn’t interested, but apparently she didn’t believe me. After her bullying failed, she got visibly irritated. One of the few remaining B&N around. They have almost any book/magazine you could want. What stood out to me was the environment; its really relaxed and ideal place to study or read. (go figure!) Staff her is tremendous. Every other BN Ive been to feels understocked and going out of business. But from entrance to checkout this particular Barnes and Noble completes the guest experience. Being a music collector you can still find new releases of all genres of major label releases and also quite a bit of the more circulated new indie releases on CD & LP (omnipresent Sub Pop, Dead Ocean, Secretely Canadian, Jagjaguwar, etc.). Good memories of reading actual books. I have fully converted to reading my books digitally but when we came here to find a gift for a wedding (cause who wants to unwrap a digital download giftcard?) I was reminded of how much easier it is and more fun to browse the store and be able to pick up a book and read the back and thumb through it before deciding if its worth reading. When buying digitally you have to either just trust the author because you already read something of theirs you liked or you have to read the reviews and hope no one ruins it with spoilers.I like this particular store and have had good experiences here though at the moment the holiday shopping is insane. I try to avoid ANY store of any kind right now if I can.

There are so few brick and mortar bookstores open but this location at Hacienda Crossings has stood the test of time. There are always plenty of customers in the store whenever I have visited. This is based on my Funko POP hunting. I came looking for exclusive POPs and the store is clean and huge. The Funko section is kinda small and in a few places so I had trouble looking for certain ones. A large portion of the POPs are damaged either from handling by customers, in shipping, or employees shoving them onto the shelves. I did have a nice employee come ask and help me look for what I came for. He also pointed out another section with more exclusives they just got in. So that was a big plus for me. After looking over a bunch I was able to find what I came for in good condition. The checkout line could use some ropes or better signs to say line starts here. Other than that I will come back again and it was a good experience.

After looking up the DVD Grease online, I saw that B&N had in and in stock. I have been burned before, (elsewhere), so I called the store and spoke with Thomas. I told him that I wanted to be sure that the DVD was in stock. He put me on hold and went to check. He came back, told me that they had it and that he would put it aside for me. I stopped in a couple of hours later. It was busy, but there was no line. A young Asian girl welcomed me. I told her the DVD was on hold for me. I gave her my first name. She then asked if I had my last name on me., (Umm...huh?). I told her luckily I did. She couldnt find it, but with help from a co-worker, she found it. She rang it up and gave me my receipt. She said something really fast, so I had to ask her to repeat it. She said in the cafe, they were having 2 for 1 cookies! Im glad I had her repeat herself! I went right over and picked up cookies and a frap. The cashier aside; I remembered how much I miss about being in a bookstore. I will return!

I dislike their starbucks area in the store. I know theyre separate from starbucks, so Ill give them a review as a whole.I was asked to leave by a middle age women that had dark blond hair and glasses to buy an item or I had to leave. I guess buying books for classes totaling 60 dollars doesnt count.If you have a policy, make sure to tell everyone about it and not just tell one person about it. The guy next to me didnt have to leave because he had on a suit, tie, and was using a mac book computer, but I had to leave because I had a sweater, jeans, and backpack.
