This place is awesome! Very comfortable and open feel with a large inventory of reading material. One of the larger bookstores I have seen still in existence. What a wonderful experience to go through physical reading material for once instead of being bound by internet material. Theres a nice coffee lounge by Starbucks within the facility as well. It makes for a nice reading and meeting location. The mall that it is located within is a special place to be in Calabasas as well. It is a Rick Caruso development and theres many other fine and high and shops nearby. The restaurants in the area are fabulous also. Its a great place to take kids and spend an afternoon of shopping and lounging around. Be sure to check out all of the turtles at the water feature. Theres plenty of parking. It has easy access to the 101 freeway.

If you looking for a place to just chill out for hours in the area, this branch is the perfect spot to relax and enjoy! Surrounded by millions of books and people who look calm and friendly is priceless! They have a Starbucks coffee shop inside so you don’t need to go outside to get coffee!

Very wide selection of books. I appreciate the organization of the store. I went on a Sunday night and there were plenty of people there shopping, reading, and hanging out. The staff was also very friendly and helpful. I picked up some books for Christmas gifts.

This is a fantastic Barnes & Noble by itself, filled with just about all the books, magazines, comics, and other entertaining materials your heart could desire (ok, maybe not ALL of them if youre as much of a book nerd as I am, but pretty close! ;)) - but I particularly have to shout out the Cafe staff. The night I went, the barista who was closing up the Starbucks cafe couldnt have been more kind and gracious to me, which really means the world. Ive worked in food-service and I know its tough and not every customer is an angel, so if you can stay friendly and courteous youre already a hero in my book - but she (sorry, didnt get her name) was particularly nice and just had great vibes. I didnt really interact with the booksellers since I managed to hold off from buying a book (through some magic), but if the rest of the staff at this location are like that, this Barnes & Noble is in more than good hands. One of the best bookstores, two floors with an in-house Starbucks cafe. Offers plenty of reading space with separate sections for kids, teenagers, business, travel and more books. Has clean restrooms on the first level.On Weekends there are kid reading sessions which are a hit with the kids. The staff is super friendly. The annual membershop is $25 bit so worth it.

This bookstore has everything you’re looking for and customer service that is 5 ⭐️‘s without question!!! Mike R at the desk saved this review!!! I came in with my wife and she needed to use the washroom. I decided to use the mens room as well, but there was an “out of service” sign on the door. I peeked in to see and sure enough, the washroom was fully functional(except 1 urinal). I ended up using the other one(after testing to make sure it worked). The store was pretty busy and had several men, turned away by the sign. All of which, were pretty unhappy, having to leave the store to find another washroom in the plaza. I brought this to the attention of Mike at the customer service desk. He handled my complaint like a pro!!! After speaking with him for a few minutes, I watched how he interacted with several other customers. His professionalism erased any negative thought in my mind. I then spoke with a manager regarding the washroom. She informed m that the contractor responsible for the repair in the washroom, never told anyone he was finished and therefore, they did not know the sign could be removed. She immediately took action to resolve any further problems this could cause and apologized for any inconvenience. Conflict resolution is flawless here! Just like the rest of the store and staff!!!Highly recommend this location!!!

The sales associates are friendly enough. I went there to get a copy of Septimus Heap. They only had 1 in the whole store, and I didnt realize that the corner of the book was ripped after I left the parking lot. It was for a gift. It was very annoying. Wish they had more than 1 copy of anything. It was the day before Christmas so the shopping center was packed and parking was difficult. They didnt have much selection on the history of Palestine. It was a very biased clientele. Next time, Ill order online, especially for better prices.

Whats not to love about Barnes and Noble? Just the waft of ink and paper when you walk in the door tingles your brain a bit. Then the scent of fresh brewed coffee makes you feel right at home. As convenient as online retailers can be, it cant beat the kinesthetic quality of a brick and mortar institution that brings people together in search of something interesting to read and experience.

Outdated. It was Okay 15-20 years ago but now everything feels outdated. The commons feels like a sad place. There is no sense of community here, no sense of brotherhood or sisterhood or neighborhood. People dont know each other even if they live next door to eachother for 30 years, and then you go out and all the shops just want your money, and everything is expensive. I miss Europe and Middle East. Its a sad life in this country. No freedom, tax tax tax, dead dreams. Where getting married and have kids and a house by the time you are 25 is your God given right in middle east and most of Europe here the rich and the government has you by the throat. Im 52, 30 years work and study and still no family and no house.

One of the last great bookstores we have. The best one being the one in LA (not a Barnes) that is closeby to Grand central mkt. They have a lot of good sales here. I love browsing through their nonfiction and cookbook offerings. Always pick up a new piece every time I go, along with a coffee from the in-house Starbucks. This barnes is located in the Calabasas Commons so there is plenty of parking. And places to eat around as well, including more budget friendly options such as Fresh Brothers pizza. Can easily kill a whole afternoon at thr Commons with the Barnes, the vibe and the food

As I sat down to write this review, I couldnt help but feel torn. On one hand, I absolutely adore Barnes and Noble. I visit the store almost every day to browse through their extensive collection of mangas and collectibles. But on the other hand, my recent experiences with the staff have been nothing short of anxiety-inducing.I suffer from anxiety, and one of my triggers is being stared at or followed. Unfortunately, this has been happening to me quite frequently during my visits to Barnes and Noble. As soon as I walk in, I can feel the eyes of the staff members on me, watching my every move. Its as if Im being treated like a potential shoplifter, even though Im just a regular customer browsing through the shelves. Despite my love for the stores selection of mangas and collectibles, I cant ignore the negative impact that the staffs behavior has had on my shopping experience. Its a shame because Barnes and Noble used to be my go-to store for all my book and manga needs. But now, I find myself hesitating to go back due to the anxiety-inducing experiences Ive had with the staff.

Its great to have the ability to walk thru an actual bookstore. From my perspective this is the last book store of substance in the San Fernando Valley. It will be a true loss if this store closes! First and foremost, I have to address the EMPLOYEE named ANGELICA. If youre reading this, Angelica, let me just say that your stalking skills need some serious improvement, It was downright creepy how you hovered around me as I browsed the aisles, making me feel like I was being watched constantly. Nice place to relax and enjoy some reading; any book you may be looking for is either here or they can help you order it. Staff is friendly and the locations sits at a place where you can grab a bite to eat or watch movies or hang out... good spot to visit if you are planning a date and it involves checking out books, board games, digital books, magazines, etc.... any reading material. Spot for the kids is very nicely done and they can spend hours picking out books to read at home. Dont underestimate their coffee shop; great place.

I have been going here since it opened. Massive, 2 story bookstore. Very well laid out. Topics are listed on the top of the book cases so you can easily see the area you want to go. Escalator and elevator inside for ease of getting from 1 floor to the other. Lots of places to sit and read. Separate childrens section so the children can run around and not run into the adults. Decorated for children as well so the kids love visiting. Massive discount boot area, also separated by topic. Way to many cook books, but some shoppers like that. Eating area with a cafe is located in the store so you can take a book and look at it further while having something to eat and drink. Restrooms are clean and located here. Lots of parking.If you cannot find what you are looking for the staff is very helpful with directions and suggestions. There is a kiosk for checking their online selection and you can order books from there. A theater and quite a few restaurants are located nest door if you need a break from your searching.

I havent been in a book store probably since around the time Boarders closed their doors. This trip confirmed that was the right decision. I had so much trouble locating a store employees that I wandered into the area that had what I was looking for on my own. I was in the store for approximately 30-45 minutes. I was stopping on my way home from work to take a look at what was available as my Mom passed away in February at the age of 85 years old. My husband has some chronic health conditions, diabetes, heart issues and he is a dialysis patient. He has been ill and in and out of the hospital basically since the day of her services. I started a new job 6 weeks ago and needless to say feeling a little overwhelmed. My husband is in the hospital tonight and has been since a week ago last Monday. I was simply looking for a book with some advice on going on. There were signs all around the store that they were having a buy one, get one for 50% off the second event. When I got to the cashier area. There was a total of 3 employees. One looked scared to death that I might try to talk to him and never made eye contact. The other two stood talking to each other while counting out the register and I waited and waited. The one who refused to make eye contact or acknowledge me, closed the top over his drawer picked it up and left the checkout area. There were now 2-3 people waiting with me, also waiting to be assisted. The other two employees finish their personal conversation and counting the register. The female employee asked the male employee where yet another employee currently was, to which his answer was the other employees was finishing up their break and should be back shortly. He then left the checkout area as well. The female told him she would try to help me. She signaled for me to step up to the counter at last. She rings up my books and asks if Im a member for a 10% discount. I tell her I dont know but I dont think so. She said she could check. The total on my 4 books is over $65. I ask about buy one, get one for 50% off. She informs me that only 1 of the 4 books Im buying is part of that offer so there is no discount to apply. I dont understand. I ask her what she needs from me. Im thinking to check if I am a member or to sign me up so I can get some kind of discount. She tells me she just needs to know how Im going to be paying. With cash or card. Im probably going to return all of them because I have such a lousy Feeling left from the whole experience. Ill be ordering from Amazon in the future. They will wait on me instead of me having to wait for them. I was at the store after 6pm and they close at 8. Why on earth was any employee getting off or on break? Why when those if us that work until 5 or 6 are trying to end our day and get home for the night do the employees act like we are the least important thing in the store? I dont understand!! Once my return is completed they dont have to worry about me interrupting their business again for at least another 5-7 years. If they are still in business anymore! Congratulations! I got your message loud and clear. No need to worry about me being a customer anymore.

How I miss walking through a book store. There just arent many left with the technical gadgets that allow you to carry an entire library on a plane. I love Barnes & Noble. I love reading actual books. Its one of the few book stores that are left. The service is excellent. I was looking for a particular book that Ive only seen on Amazon. They actually had a copy. They have a coffee shop on the premises, they also have seating throughout the store. You can actually take your time and browse. I really enjoy myself when I go there.

I cant tell you how grateful I am to still have a bookstore near to where I live. Just being able to pop in and peruse books and magazines, stop for a coffee in the Starbucks, or pick up gifts for kids birthday parties. This place is HUGE. it has two floors, every section for books you can think of and they even have a vinyl section in the back of the first floor. Customer service is really handy, I asked for these two books and the lady was kind enough to retrieve them for me. They dont sell box calendars only planners. Enjoy the atmosphere.

One of the only west coast brick and mortar bookstore chains left. So even if it sucked Id give it a good rating. Fortunately B&N is a pretty good bookstore. Whats good about it youre probably not asking? Not the prices. The good stuff are never on sale. The chairs. Yes, the chairs. Being able to sit and read part of a book before I decide its worth the read, is a luxury not afforded online most of the time. That in itself is 4 stars. Add the Starbucks for the fifth star. I did subtract 1 star somewhere but honestly, I forgot where it went.

We all love a good book! Store is neat and tidy and the staff was pleasant! I had to return a book that was all stuck together from manufacturing and they just took it right back! I like the items but staff can be difficult. I had to go back and forth about sale items that were not coming off at the register, and point to signs and stickers as proof. The cafe does not let you BUY a cup of ice water. Most places give cups of water for free or at least let you buy it. I mainly wanted ice because it’s 105 degrees today and their bottled water wasn’t cold enough. I guess I could have ordered an ice coffee with extra ice and say no coffee. Just plain dumb.

The book store is cozy and peaceful but the coffee shop needs more attention. The cookies look old and dry especially cinnamon scone. I told the acting manager about that and he put the balme on the cookie producer that expects the coffee shop to keep them for 48 hours and then get rid of them, but the cinnamon scone that i had looked much older and i did not like the excuse because the customer pays money for healthy fresh stuff.

Still the best mortar and brick bookstore experience around. But it does no good to put in a good review without supporting it. So I go every chance I get and buy something from there, preferably more than one book. This store itself is off the 101 freeway in Calabasas, its huge, clean and probably benefits form the good foot traffic.

In reviewing this location with 5 stars, Im comparing it with other Barnes & Noble locations. This is as good as it gets fir the b&n experience. They have a nice kids room and a great cafe! There is also tons of other things to do on a visit here, like seeing the turtles and fish in the pond here.That said, B&N youre going to pay less on Amazon for 95% of the books, and the music section is literally highway robbery... but its like that at every Barnes location.You go to b&n to browse and then go get a treat and coffee in the cafe, and this is great for that!

My children are voracious readers and my son can finish a 300 page book on less than 1 day. With covid this store has become our go to for books since the libraries have limited numbers of their books and he often reads too fast for the next book in a series to come available. Weve been coming here years and Ive probably posted a number of times. As usual a full five stars.

For such a large store, it is surprising how much STUFF they have here. It is a bit cramped in the aisle ways on a busier Friday or Saturday night, but they have an excellent selection and plenty of staff available to ask questions to. Their cafe is fantastic, too, boasting cheesecake slices from The Cheesecake Factory!!
